Recently, I found these items from the #MentalHealthAwareness collection on the @puravida website, and I knew I HAD to have them. My whole family struggle with our #mentalhealth: all of us have #depression & #anxiety, and I suffer additionally with #Bipolar1, #PTSD, and another acronyms.... to get us started. Since @rob_the_rigger received some of his father's mementos from his siblings, he's been going through the #oldphotos lately. Here we are on our #weddingday, (following our #elopement about 45 days earlier). 👰🤵 . This #photograph was found amongst his #treasures. I was so #excited when he showed me, because I don't think I have any actual #fotos of my #wedding #bouquet!! 💐 . I loved this day. I #married my one #truelove in front of #God and our #lovedones, on the #beach by the #watersedge, right at #sunset. I was #barefoot, and by that time, already #pregnant with @chloerainebow. 🤰 . I wore a $17 slip nightgown for a #weddingdress, and I bought an inexpensive bunch of #flowers from a nearby @publix. I wove the baby's breath from those into a #crown for my hair (which completely blew it all to oblivion, anyway), and then tied the rest of the bunch together the way I liked with a pretty #ribbon 🎀 . Rob wore his #dressblues (it was #Winter2001, after all), and I always loved him in uniform. It was a #special day, one we'll always remember, right down to the #pastor deeming us www.husbandandwife.com 🤣 . And they said we were #crazy... This kid is going to be 15 in just 11 days!!! 😱 On the one hand, I don't know how my baby girl is almost 15 already?!?! OTOH, is that all she is? Really?!! It is done. The 17th annual #vigil for #RobertWilliam is over. 17 years ago, today, was easily the worst and one of the most transformative years of my life as our son, our "Twin A," gained his angel wings. 👼 . Right now, the US, along with pretty much the entire globe, is fighting WWIII in the name of #COVID19, the novel #coronavirus. Many people are self-isolating at home - that is, if they're not already under strict #quarantine. 👼 . Streets are empty. People aren't coming or going in cars or on foot; I don't even ever see anyone checking their mail. No one's at the few shops that are open. Kids are home from school. The world has, essentially, entirely shut down. 👼 . If you have seen this phenomenon as well, if you are seeing this in your daily lives right now, then you have a very good approximation for what I expected the world to do after March 25, 2003. 👼 . That was the day my son died. 👼 . Once that indescribable day had passed, many related events, comments, and behaviors became indelible on my memory. One such thing was that I'd step out on my front stoop, completely expecting the world to have stopped like it is here in 2020 - because mine certainly had! - but it had not. People were checking their mail. People were driving home from work or to go get groceries. Dogs were being walked by cheerful owners. 👼 . In my mind, I was screaming: "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?! HOW CAN YOU CARRY ON AS THOUGH NOTHING HAD HAPPENED?!" I would honestly look out my front door in complete bewilderment that the world was still revolving and folks could still be smiling and whistling, even though I was not even able to breathe from the sheer force of the gut kick that losing a child really is. 👼 . My mono-di #identicaltwins, Robby and #JackRiver, had developed #TwinTwinTransfusionSyndrome - aka #TTTS - wherein a placental problem causes the fluids and nutrients of one twin called the "donor twin" (our Jack) to be shunted over to the "recipient twin" (Robby). In our case of TTTS, it was a very rare form that developed very rapidly during the labor and delivery itself. 👼 . On #Sunday, we celebrated our #identicaltwins' #17thbirthday: #JackRiver walks here on earth with us, while his #twinbrother #RobertWilliam awaits us above. 👼 . And now the vigil. Robby, our #angelbaby, was born at 12:21 PM on Saturday, 03/22/2003, and after a courageous fight, he passed into the next life almost exactly three days later. 👼 . So for these three days, every single year, #thismama observes the #vigil for that duration. It comes with being willed, unbidden, sometimes unwanted, and forces me to just be STILL and feel the full force of these #emotions. 👼 . A #mother is NOT defined by the #children you can see, but by the #love she holds in her heart. 👼 . Not all #twins walk side-by-side; sometimes one has wings to fly...! 👼 . Yes. It has been SEVENTEEN DAMN YEARS, and I am still grieving the loss of our son, of the ID twin Jack is forever missing, of the "other brother" that our #daughters will never know.
