Notice the difference between schools The one that was predominately black was much more underfunded. Old computers, chalk board and no library. Now check out the predominately white school that gave the students laptops individually, smart boards and reading rooms. They both live in the same bureau, now this sent the message of how dominately POC schools and programs are far more underfunded and at a systematic disadvantage, for example, the other school had SAT preps and summer camps that are grandiloquently expensive So when the dream girls clip showed up (with the three white girls playing black women who have extreme cultural significance, especially Aretha) no wonder she fucking cried. This mantra will never not be said that they love the people, hate the culture. Her culture was good enough to make into a play for white people to enjoy, but the people werent good enough to play in it. As a multi racial person (latina, with black native and white routes) coming from a poor mostly poc school and area to a mostly white and rich area, i can very much relate to this, idk i just felt like sharing..
