Stray Siren Explained: Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Read the Comic l Dayo’s Carrd l Dayo’s Linktree
Rivalry is the third chapter of @snow-bunnii’s Stray Siren and ran from Apr 6, 2015 to Aug 17, 2015.
As the name of the chapter suggests, it details the beginning of Coral and Tetra’s rivalry while at the same time shedding some light on Tora’s history with Tetra and her Crew.
Synopsis
After Tora gets a glimpse of what happened, Tetra continues to mock Coral, comparing her to her own swabbie, Niko. This angers Coral who subsequently punches Tetra, with the latter returning the favor by wrestling up her dress. This ultimately results in a fight breaking out with different reactions from their respective guardians, with Tora telling them to stop while Gonzo encourages Tetra, the latter is subsequently called out by the former for encouraging violence and demands he aid her in separating them. After the fight is stopped, Coral begins to cry, terrified of being sent to an orphanage with Tora telling her not to listen to what Reiji tells her. Tetra overhears this and believing that Anchor is messed up for threatening to send Coral to an orphanage, subsequently begins picking up the items Coral dropped. Upon giving Coral her items back, Tetra states she did to prevent her from making a scene and that it wasn’t an act of kindness. Tetra then turns to Tora who states that she still owes her a duel and mockingly calls her a coward. Tora fires back by mocking Tetra for her short stature and states she would agree once she gets her “dogs” under control.
A year prior, Tetra challenged Tora to a duel, having been inspired by the duels her mother would have. Tora then questions where her mother is to which Tetra quietly states that she isn’t around anymore and quickly brushes it aside and demands a duel. Tora initially refuses but Anchor tells her to accept to which she reluctantly agrees and attempts to duel, but is interrupted by Gonzo looking for Tetra and subsequently calling Tora a “child-bully”. They attempt to ignore him, but the onlookers begin to chastise Tora for harassing a child. Tetra is then separated from Tora by her crew who begins shouting at them, demanding that they let her go.
Returning to the present, Tora states that it got so bad that she was forced to fabricate a story that they were doing a comedy skit. Coral blows a raspberry at Tetra, who leaves, stating that while Anchor’s crew are their rivals, they come off as more of a joke. Coral proceeds to blow a raspberry when her expression changes to one of defeat. Tora’s questions this and Coral states that she’s wasted enough time getting groceries and that now she’s going to be sent to an orphanage. Tora finds out that there was a missing grocery, being Vodka, she becomes irritated at Anchor.
While returning to the ship, Tora reassures Coral that things will be okay and upon their return, Anchor states that while she didn’t miss anything, she returned past the time limit he gave. Tora proceeds to threaten to leave with Coral and confronts Anchor while also pointing out that she knew about him sending Nelzen to spy on them. Anchor agrees, but declares Coral as being Tora’s responsibility. Tora informs Coral that if she messes up that they’ll both get in trouble, Coral then embraces Tora overjoyed to be staying with her. Tora then questions Neiji’s silence to which he states that he understands why she did what she did.
Later that night, while getting settled in for the night, Tora begins to ask Coral where she’s from, given that her diet consists solely of fish and stating that she slept on rocks, Tora even questions if she has amnesia to which Coral states that she doesn’t. Coral states that where she’s from doesn’t have an economy and she also states that she doesn’t know much due to being solely raised by her mother. While they didn’t have much nor were they the most intelligent, they both still cared about each other. Tora then asks about what happened to her mother to which Coral responds that she thinks she abandoned her for being a burden. Coral further explained that she was considered “undesirable” with her mother being blamed for having her, this eventually led to her mother going crazy which got her into trouble numerous times for the sake of her daughter. Now with her mother gone, Coral was now vulnerable to physical and verbal attacks, while Coral initially attempted to endure it as her punishment, it gradually became worse which led to her running away and ending up where she is now. Tora then begins to question everything Coral said, and subsequently promises to protect her. Coral admits that while she is grateful, she states that her people are likely glad that both she and her mother are gone. Tora once again asks Coral if her mother escaped without her to which Coral replies that it’s possible since her mother would talk about looking for a better place for them to live to which Tora asks if it makes her feel angry in a sense. Coral states that her mother loved her at some point, given her coral piece pendant and hopes that her mother is happy even if she doesn’t love her anymore. Coral’s mother was revealed to have been executed and while disintegrating into sea foam, she apologizes to Coral, all while calling her “her precious child”. Tora questions why Coral isn’t angry at her mother for abandoning her but quickly decides to end the conversation upon seeing Coral asleep, before going to bed, she wishes Coral a good night and sweet dreams.
Analysis: Tetra’s “Kindness”
I wanted to briefly analyze Tetra here, specifically where she “helps” Coral when she realizes that Coral is an orphan. My theory as to why she did this is that it would come off as hypocritical of her, since even though she’s an orphan herself, she was at least fortunate enough to have not been placed in an orphanage.
Analysis: Anchor’s “Cheating”
So as mentioned earlier, Anchor put vodka on the list to which Tora called him a cheater for it. My guess as to why he did this was so that he could purposefully set Coral up for failure, knowing that minors can’t buy alcohol.
Syranium Explained: Death
As shown with Coral’s mother, when sirens die, they disintegrate into sea foam. Sirens turn into sea foam upon death regardless on if they’re underwater or on land.

Stray Siren Explained: Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Read the Comic l Dayo’s Carrd l Dayo’s Linktree
New Swabbie is the second chapter of @snow-bunnii’s Stray Siren and ran from Oct 6, 2014 to Mar 23, 2015.
This chapter is set the following day after the previous chapter. While on their way to return the stolen tablecloth, Coral begins to learn about Hylian society. Meanwhile, Tora tries to figure out some way to convince her boss to allow Coral to stay with her. Later on while Coral was running errands, she has a run-in with a certain pirate.
Synopsis
The chapter opens with a dream of Coral calling out the word “Mama”, to which a blonde haired siren with green scales turns around and calls her “My Little Girl!”, at the same time Coral begins to mumble in her sleep. Tora who had just woken up informs her to wake up, to which Coral asks if she’s her mother, to which Tora responds with “No.”
While on their way to return to tablecloth, Tora scolds Coral on events that happened earlier, starting with Coral being unfamiliar with the concept of a bath as well as humiliating Tora at the clothing store for mistaking undergarments for head accessories. Coral apologizes to which Tora subsequently brushes this off, when suddenly Coral is distracted by the sound of a fish salesman and runs off, with Tora following her. Upon getting her fish and Tora scolding her for running off, Coral states that it costs 11 Rupees.
Tora jokes in regards to Coral’s hair pieces and subsequently begins to question the coral pendant on her necklace, to which Coral states that it was a gift from her mother. Tora remarks that if she sold those pearls, she could have enough money to buy all the fish she wanted, to which Coral agrees, with Tora becoming envious with the amount of money she got for selling pearl strands. Tora questions why Coral refuses to sell the necklace, to which Coral states that it’s a memento of her mother that she refuses to discard, Tora states that it’s a good thing, considering that it likely wouldn’t sell much with a back piece, to which Coral takes notice and questions why it’s there since it didn’t have a back piece before.
After returning the tablecloth and subsequently apologizing, Tora remarks that Coral now has enough money to find herself a home and establish a life on Windfall Island, but unfortunately for her Coral is reluctant to part ways with her. Tora warns her against coming since they’re pirates and that she could’ve gotten in trouble for sneaking her on board last night, but Coral is persistent and begs to go with her, to which Tora reluctantly agrees.
Upon their return to the ship, Tora is spooked by Neiji who mockingly calls Coral “Pixie” and “Pipsqueak” telling her to get lost and proceeds to mock her until he’s interrupted by Tora. Coral then bursts into tears and subsequently takes notice of this, questioning Tora, to which the conversation is cut short due to Nelzen pointing out the captain’s arrival, with Tora telling everyone that she’ll explain why Coral’s there. When the Captain comes out to scold the crew for slacking off, he notices Coral and tells her to leave, to which Tora explains that she was the one responsible for bringing her on board. When the Captain states that they search for treasure, Coral shows him some of her rupees to which Tora abruptly stops her, and explains her situation, to which a deal is made: in exchange for a silver rupee, Coral will run errands or “swabbie work” and how fast she can do her job would determine whether or not she’ll go with them. Neiji and the Captain begin questioning why Tora is concerned about Coral since it’s not “the pirate way”. Tora firing back that he of all people should know why and proceeds to go after her. When Neiji questions what she meant, the Captain briefly states that before he met Tora, she was also homeless and orphaned.
Meanwhile, while Coral is finishing up her errands, she bumps into Tetra resulting in a mockery from the young pirate. This mockery reminds Coral of her past when she was abused and mocked, this results in Coral deciding to stand up for herself and proceeds to kick Tetra in the back which in turn results in mocking by Gonzo. This results in Coral screaming, which attracts the attention of Tora who calls Gonzo a hypocrite for harassing a child and proceeds to chastise them for causing trouble for their “new swabbie”.

Stray Siren Explained: Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Read the Comic l Dayo’s Carrd l Dayo’s Linktree
Runaway is the first chapter of @snow-bunnii’s Stray Siren and ran from Apr 28, 2014 to Sep 15, 2014.
The chapter details Coral’s initial runaway from home, her arrival on land and meeting a young woman named Tora, who finds her to be rather “unusual”.
Synopsis
The chapter opens with Coral swimming up to the surface, eventually finding herself on the beach of Windfall Island. Upon reaching the beach, her tail begins to turn into legs and subsequently learns how to walk and upon getting used to her new form, it suddenly begins to rain as the foam on her body begins to dissolve.
Meanwhile at the cafe bar, Gillian begins asking a parton named Tora if she’s okay, noting that she’s becoming progressively less enthusiastic the more she goes there. Gillian even began asking if her relationship with “him” has gotten more strained, even stating that he’s been salty even after she took over the cafe, she that asks Tora if she’s considered leaving and maybe starting over on her own to which Tora subsequently states that she wants to still be useful to him after what he did for her, while she’s saddened that he isn’t the same as he was before, she still wants to keep trying. When Gillian goes out to dust off a tablecloth, she accidentally gets the tablecloth on Coral, who proceeds to run away out of shock, to which Tora offers to chase her.
Upon confronting Coral, Tora realizes that she’s never seen her before. After educating her on the fact that she can’t steal things from people, Coral states that she ran off with it because she was scared, and agrees to give it back, inadvertently stripping herself in the process. Tora immediately tells her to put the cloth back on and begins asking why she wasn’t wearing any clothes, to which Coral responds that she doesn’t have any, Tora then asks if her home isn’t far and offers to return her to her family, to which Coral responds that she doesn’t have any.
Realizing that she’s a homeless orphan, Tora takes her under her wing, taking her to the ship she lives in. Upon entering the ship, Coral introduces herself and she is subsequently introduced to Nelzen, who asks about Coral, to which Tora requests that he not tell the Cap’n nor Neiji about her and he agrees to keep silent about her, albeit via hand and head gestures. Upon arriving to Tora’s quarters, Coral becomes immediately infatuated with Tora’s doll, to which Tora explains what you do with it and Coral asks if she can play with the doll, to which Tora agrees, but suggests that due to it being late that they should get some rest and proceeds to leave to get some essentials for Coral. Upon returning to her room, she finds Coral asleep near her dresser, utilizing the tablecloth as a makeshift blanket. Tora subsequently placed the blanket over her and wonders what she’s going to do with her.

hi i was wondering if you are, at all, alright with anyone using your art for a cover photo or profile picture WITHOUT permission. because there's someone using art for their face book profile page without willing to credit the artists. she's even adding filters, cropping out artist signatures, and changing background color with the bucket tool on paint. Her name's "Miss Tetra". im only mentioning this because she posted something about she won't credit an artists work or something idk.
oh wow, shoot sorry!! I can't believe this message wasn't notified to me earlier, I think my Tumblr's buggy cuz I swear it doesn't update me on anything. But anyway, frick no, that's ABSOLUTELY not cool with me. I'm betting anyone else affected would reflect the same sentiment. x'D Thanks for the heads-up about it tho!!
