The good news is that a year on Strensiq and figuring out how to keep my B6 levels balanced has given me an almost-normal energy level, and I've been more active and have been riding my ebike a lot. The bad news is a couple days ago I beefed it on a ride (I was barely even moving), and skinned the heck out of my knee.

I'm not a spring chicken anymore, healing is more complicated than it used to be. So I've put my shop in vacation mode for a little bit so I can focus on resting. Already placed orders will still process as normal though.

So. Tariffs. At this point I don't have plans to raise my prices, but since my materials are made in China I'll be impacted by tariffs sooner or later. But I don't think retailers are going to continue importing the materials I need. I don't anticipate them continuing to be available at inflated cost, they're just not going to exist in the US. At least not til the companies shift to using factories elsewhere, which I expect them to do because corporations are used to be sneaky and getting around laws.

But at some point, I'm going to run out of materials and when that happens, I'll have no choice but to remove all the shrink plastic and resin-based items from my shop. Ironically, acrylic yarn is usually made in Turkiye, and rarely in China. Amigurumi don't sell very often but those I can leave up for longer just because I have more yarn.

And even once companies change their manufacturing, there will be a period where materials aren't available because of the nature of manufacturing and shipping. The tariffs went into effect today, but retailers canceled their orders at least a month ago because that's how long it takes shipments to arrive. It will take at least that long to get new ones.

I made job stone window clings because why not. Shiny and stops birds from hitting the window, and now the Amazon guy knows I play Pictomancer (I made the Scholar one when the only colors I had were shades of blue)

Been playing with Gallery Glass the last couple days! It's a gloopy paint (PVA I think, it's made by Plaid and smells like Mod Podge) that dries translucent and looks like stained glass. This fish is based on a window in Beyond Good and Evil that has no importance to the story, I just thought it was cute. I was watching a stream, and decided during the credits that I wanted to make that window (reference under the cut). This is technically not done, there are a couple spots that aren't fully dry and are still slightly opaque. But I couldn't wait to show it off!

One of these things is not like the others...

I'm not sure why I've always found cockatrices fascinating. I do know that I learned about their existence from the book Dragons a Natural History by Dr. Karl Shuker. I checked that book out from the library so many times as a kid (and I bought a copy as an adult). When I made this chicken pattern, I knew I wanted a cockatrice variation. The chickens don't have feet but I figured the cockatrice worked better with little feets.

I checked my records and I started this puppet sometime in 2023. She only got wings just today! They were in my closet for months. I thought they were unfinished still, but they looked done so I stuck them on. I guess I was fussing over them too much. She still needs some hair styling and jewelry. This project is meant to essentially be a master work, deliberately over the top and incorporating as many of my skills as I can. You can see a video of her moving here.

I found some interesting yarn colors so I made a bunch of dragons

A bunch of dragons I made recently! I made them using yarn under instead of yarn over. Here's a comparison using the same yarn, one yarn over and one yarn under. Can you tell which is which? I can't XD

The one on the right is the standard yarn over. Yarn under makes a more defined stitch and I like it, but it's not as different looking as I expected. Maybe because my tension is pretty high anyway, YU has higher tension on its own.

Today's little guys: another iteration of the parrot with face marking and a different tail, and yet another dragon. Also I got out my circular knitting machine to start on a blanket and found that it got broken somehow 😭

I've been wanting a giraffe pattern, and while I'm happy with the shape I don't know how to do the spots. The one on the left is the second one, and while I'm impressed with myself that I made a spot cross the head and body pieces, I don't like the overall look of them. Also there's a dragon.
