In light of way too many people leaving rude comments under Noelle’s anniversary picture on Twitter or saying rude shit about them on here, I feel like I once again need to teach the She-Ra fandom some basic “Fandom 101″ stuff, so here we go:

1) Do not harass the creators or leave rude comments under their art because they didn’t cater to you, specifically.

2) You are not entitled to anything from the creators, especially not after the show is over.

3) Same goes for fanartists and fanfic writers: Don’t leave rude comments under their art or fics just because you’d have preferred something different.

Like seriously, people, this is not okay. I absolutely get the disappointment of Hordak fans / Entrapdak shippers / people who wanted Angella to be in the picture / etc. I get that it sucks when the creator draws an anniversary picture and your fave isn’t in it. I really do sympathize with the disappointment. And if you just want to express your disappointment about that on your own tumblr blog away from Noelle, that’s fine. If this inspires you to draw your own fan content of Hordak at Scorpia’s first ball – awesome, amazing, be the change you want to see!

But what isn’t okay is commenting stuff like “So you just hate Hordak, huh?” or “But where’s Angella? It’s my headcanon that they save her after season 5!” under Noelle’s picture on Twitter. STOP THAT RIGHT NOW.

And what also isn’t okay is people trying to make this into a bigger deal than it is and trying to make Noelle look “problematic” for it. (Like, I’ve seen comments calling him ableist for not including Hordak. Wtf?? And other comments trying to make it look like Noelle personally insulted every Hordak-fan to their face or something.) JUST STOP. It’s okay to feel disappointed, but it’s also okay for Noelle to not want to draw Hordak. She’s not obligated to.

You aren’t entitled to Noelle catering to your tastes specifically. He’s not obligated to draw stuff for your fave, your ship, or your headcanon. They didn’t have to draw an anniversary picture at all or acknowledge it in any way. She didn’t have to give us anything. If a showrunner goes out of their way to draw something for the show’s anniversary, the very least you could do as a fan of that show is to not comment “But I wanted something else!” under that picture. That’s just basic politeness, people! And trying to make the creator look “problematic” because your fave wasn’t in the picture just makes you look petty and rude. So what if the creator’s not a fan of your favourite character or ship? They’re not obligated to be! It doesn’t take away from what you see in that character/ship. And it doesn’t give you the right to act this rude or entitled towards them.

Please learn how to behave as a fan of something. Just because social media has made it possible to talk to the creators of your favourite things, that doesn’t mean you suddenly get to demand things from them. They are people. Your fictional faves are not.
