In the Beryslav district, an enemy UAV hit a car. One person was killed and another woman was injured. Rescuers unblocked the killed man and took the injured woman to the hospital. In addition, the hit on the ambulance caused a fire, which was extinguished by firefighters.

In the Donetsk region, a Russian drone hit a car with three people in it. The car went into a ditch. Two men were pulled out by police, the third was unblocked by rescuers and handed over to medics.

With each day, fewer and fewer Ukrainian voices are being heard. Ukrainians burn out metaphorically and literally, in their apartments, which Russians relentlessly bomb every night. Ukrainians get killed on the front line, where Russians use every forbidden weapon and tactic you can think of. Ukrainians disappear. Ukrainians get quieter and quieter. Guess who continues to speak and does it even louder than before?

How long will you last talking about the most traumatic experience that you have ever lived through, and that you are living through right now, when you see that people don’t listen? When you see that your words are constantly twisted and questioned, and the ones who cause you this immeasurable pain are believed over you? A day, a week, a month, a year? How long will you last until you find yourself filled with so much bitterness, anger, and despair that you would explode, causing even more criticism towards yourself? See, those Ukrainians are so emotional, so full of hatred. They are so biased. Let’s talk to calm and intelligent Russians who will tell us the truth.

If Ukraine has no choice but to accept “de facto” occupation — that’s because WE failed.

Not because Ukrainians failed, not because some mysterious “shit happened”, but because for years we ignored all the warnings, repeated all the mistakes of history, kicked the can down the road and refused to do what it takes to defend the rules and principles that enable sustainable peace and prosperity. This is on us.

We are the architects of this de facto defeat, so now we are trying to pretend it came out of nowhere and we did the best we could to stop it. In a spectacular display of unbombed westsplaining, Mark Rutte is suggesting that everything will be OK in the long run, like it was OK in the Baltic States after decades of de facto occupation by jolly old Uncle Joe Stalin.

Well, I have shrugged off a lot of dumb hot takes about my country over the last few years, but this one is literally sickening. Rutte is revealing that the latest genius 5D chess move to save Ukraine is to casually throw millions of people into a black hole of oppression, torture, rape, kidnapping, murder and destruction of national identity — “de facto, but not de jure”.

And the proponents of this plan will keep a straight face while they cite the misery of the occupation of the Baltic States as a shining example that Ukraine should happily walk into.

In his FT column, Gideon Rachman says little to fill the gap in Rutte’s world view: "The Soviet Union’s annexation of the Baltic states after 1940 was never legally recognised by the US and most European countries. But it was a fact of life, until, eventually, the Baltic states regained their independence."

Yikes, let’s unpack that. The occupation wasn’t “a fact of life”, it was a fact of death. “Eventually” was after decades of deportations, killing, grinding terror and violent attempts to turn everybody into russians. “Regained their independence” was being crushed under Gorbachev’s tanks while western leaders pleaded with us to give up our fight for freedom.

So… this is the path to peace we are supposed to offer to Ukraine with a smile? These are the glorious new security guarantees that will erase the shame of the Budapest Agreement and allow Ukrainians to have faith in the future?

There are even US Ambassadors talking about how countries can “earn” certain territories and therefore presumably “deserve” them. Would it be paranoid of me to wonder if we just opened the door for Russia to “earn” Narva and Vilnius “de facto”?

Most of the children in the 'catalogue' were born before the occupation of Luhansk region and had Ukrainian citizenship. The parents of some of them were killed by the occupation authorities, while others were given russian documents to legalise their abduction, said Mykola Kuleba, former Ombudsman for Children's Rights.

a reminder that the abduction of children and their transfer from one group to another is one of the acts of genocide that russia has been actively committing throughout the war it has started.

‼️At night, the Russians launched a massive drone and missile attack on Kyiv - currently two people are known to have been killed and 48 injured.

In the Svyatoshynskyi district, the entrance to a residential building was destroyed, and fires also broke out in several non-residential buildings.

In the Solomyanskyi district, apartments in several buildings were damaged. Cars were burning. There were also fires and damage at several locations of non-residential buildings.

In the Holosiivskyi district, there are damaged buildings. In particular, a school and a kindergarten.

❗On the night of July 16, the Russians launched almost three dozen strike drones into the Vinnytsia region, damaging civilian enterprises and causing air quality to deteriorate due to a massive fire. According to Vinnytsia Mayor Morgunov, nine residential buildings were damaged or partially destroyed in the village of Pysarivka.

In total, as of 9:00 a.m., at least eight residents of Vinnytsia were reported injured as a result of the night attack on the region.
