The pain was unbearable. Not only physically, but the feeling of extreme embarrassment and fluster. Luckily...or well, he didn’t really know, if anyone else in the teahouse was watching them-he really hoped not, or that word of his quick intoxication would reach the ears of everyone in Luoyang..the Sima family would never let him forget it...they’d say things like “At least Lord Zhuge Liang can actually hold his liquor..” among other things

But his worry soon turned into shame upon seeing Jia Chong’s extended hand. “Master Jia Chong...I apologise..” he mustered, still feeling dizzy from the blow he took against the wooden table.

He began to rise from his seat, his hand barely touching that of Jia Chong’s. No, his pride wouldn’t allow him the assistance. Not to mention his palm hidden in his white glove began to sweat at the thought of another touching him, or vice versa.

 However, the dizziness began to grow tenfold as he took more steps, gravity trying its damnedest to pull him down..only then, did he allow himself to fully grasp the other’s hand.

“To say I am surprised is quite the understatement. Lord Jia Chong…yes, I am surprised that you would want to spend time with someone as lowly as I..”

As he began to drink more, and at a quicker pace. He was already beginning to feel lightheaded..

“I..uh no…no, you certainly do not need a reason…I suppose if you wanted to spend time with me..then all you need to do is ask. I will try my best not to make a fool of myself.”

He soon found himself empty of cup, looking down at the empty contents. He was feeling even more dizzy, and he did not even notice the small drip of wine coming out of the side of his mouth.

Great…he was getting drunk now, wasn’t he? Just when he had promised that he would not make a fool of himself in public..ever. This was why he was so rigid, so closed, and why he rarely showed himself to others.

Gods…who knew what was on Lord Jia Chong’s mind now, would he deem him a fool? Would he laugh and call him worthless?

He wanted to give him a proper response, that indeed, he did not mind the other’s presence so much anymore, but instead, he brought his hand to his head, as the room began to spin.

The way the other spoke was enough to fluster the man until he was red in the face…or perhaps it was the alcohol speaking..nonetheless, he tried his best, he really did…and then, his head hit the table..

           Truth be told, Jia Chong liked seeing Zhuge Dan get flustered. Jia Chong found his reactions quite genuine and, with a little prodding, he was stammering already. His lips quirked as Zhuge Dan gulped down his wine—was he like this with everyone? Or was it just Jia Chong’s presence that was unsettling? Still, he found Zhuge Dan’s straightforward nature to be quite humorous.

           As Jia Chong lifted his cup to his lips, however, he realized that perhaps he had taken this little encounter too far; noticing the rivulet of wine on Zhuge Dan’s chin, he opened his mouth to speak again—a warning—when Zhuge Dan’s head struck the table.

           Jia Chong looked at Zhuge Dan for a moment, then surveyed the rest of the patrons in the teahouse. He did not think that Zhuge Dan would become intoxicated so quickly, and it caught him off guard.

            ❛❛ That’s enough for today, ❜❜ he said, rising from his seat. He circled the table for a closer inspection, his lips pulled down into a frown. Hopefully Zhuge Dan would not need medical attention for that; for now, though, he would need to get him home without further incident.

           Feeling a bit responsible, he placed some money on the table to pay for their meal and extended a hand toward Zhuge Dan. ❛❛ Come. I will accompany you. ❜❜

So, I’ve thought long and hard about this, and it’s time to get rid of a few RP blogs I have. I’ve got too many. It’s hard to manage so much, and without even the slightest desire to write them, well, it’s honestly just taking space. 

This profile will stay, of course. Along with Bryan Fury @wickedreplicant and Hwoarang @thelilkicks but I’m going to close down Nouhime, my OC, and Ginchiyo/Xingcai. I know I had some threads going, but I can’t even begin to even write..there’s just no motivation. Sorry, everyone

Allies.

It felt good.

It felt good saying it, and it felt good hearing it repeated out of Jia Chong’s mouth. He didn’t know if he could fully trust him, trust was hard to find within these walls, hell, the only one he truly trusted was Sima Shi, and even that was still enough to keep him at a distance.

Or..

Moreso, Sima Shi kept him at a distance. He knew it wasn’t to be stand-offish, he understood. To follow a lord is to serve him dutifully. But he didn’t have to be his friend. Zhuge Dan understood this better than anyone. Friendship didn’t come easily to him. There were reasons why he kept his heart so closed.

But..

Jia Chong’s presence wasn’t unwelcome.

He said he looked forward to the outcome to his endeavors. Zhuge Dan had to agree, “As do I, Lord Jia Chong. I look forward to see this new world that we can create.”

However, his next choice of words nearly made him spit out his wine. As unbecoming as it would be..

“So-sorry?” he stammered in near shock. Fluster quickly became him and he looked away to ensure that the man beside him would not see the burning red that had quickly engulfed his cheeks.

“Y-you want to do this again? To what…would I deserve such an honor?”

To which he quickly downed the rest of his drink in order to avoid further embarrassment.

           Jia Chong chucked aloud then. ❛❛ What? You’re surprised? ❜❜

           Zhuge Dan was certainly hard on himself, he supposed. Before answering, Jia Chong drained the contents of his cup and signaled for a nearby attendant to refill them both.

            ❛❛ I did not know I needed a particular reason, ❜❜ he said with mock gravity. Of course, he certainly had his reasons, but Zhuge Dan’s reaction was so impetuous, so expressive, that it was humorous. If anything, Zhuge Dan certainly knew how to make Jia Chong laugh—not that Jia Chong was going to tell him that. Zhuge Dan might take it the wrong way and become more flustered.

            ❛❛ Well, if you want one, I would say that it would be to help each other, ❜❜ he said simply. ❛❛ We will be creating a new world, but not together. Not exactly. While we do our own jobs, should we not take the time to let our paths intersect once in a while? ❜❜

           As he sipped at his wine, he tried to swallow down one last prodding—he really did. Still, he could not help but joke, ❛❛ Or do you not find my company to your tastes? ❜❜
