Soulsmake - An AU Creation Event

A low stakes event about making a new friend and appreciating the journey of creation!

Soulsmake is simple. Sign up and be randomly assigned a soulmate of another creative in the Life Series fandom who you don't usually work with, then spend a month making an AU or story together.

After sign-ups close, you'll be asked to review the list of other sign-ups and let us know who to remove from your pool. The goal is to find a new story partner you haven't worked with before, so you'll be asked to let us know any regular creative partners you have so they can be removed from your pool. Once the pool-limiting review period closes, the soulmate rolling begins. You'll have about a week to get to know your soulmate and ensure you and your soulmate are compatible, but if you have any issues such as sharing no common interests or incompatible timezones making it difficult to talk, you can enter a smaller reroll pool or join an existing pair.

Once soulmates are settled, the AU creation period officially begins! Your AU can be Life Series, or it can be for another fandom where you and your soulmate have common ground. You can even make something based on your sonas or OCs. Shipping is allowed, but NSFW will not be reblogged to this blog.

This event is meant to be low stakes and "low effort," focused more on the processes of collaboration and creation than it is on a polished final product. Your AU should have some sort of story line, though it can be as complicated or as simple as you and your soulmate would like. While you're more than welcome to make a full piece of art or fic for your AU, you do not have to. Your final product can be as simple as a sketch or a fic outline. Whatever you want to do!

At the end of the event, you and your soulmate are encouraged to share your AU in whatever form it's currently in. @ this blog and use the tag #soulsmake to showcase your AU, though the end date does not have to be the end. You can continue to work on your AU after the end of the event—in fact, if you and your soulmate want to keep working together, that would be the best success this event could have!

Exact schedule will follow in a few days, but sign-ups should open in July with the event itself running for the month of August. The ask box is also open for any questions!

Mio is like a mother when she is around kids. She loves working with kids, that is why she works with Bae at the daycare on the weekends. Bae and Mio have a mutual understanding of how kids need to be treated. When they are working, Bae is the teacher and Mio is the mother/ fun one. Bae will teach the kids while Mio will mother them when she gets hurt. Mio is a student teacher, and she plans to become an English Language Arts teacher. Mio was assigned to the jerk group with Lynn, and that's when she start crushing on Lynn.

Mio was born in Japan, but moved to Sunset Bird when she was 10. Mio has anxiety when she is alone, she has panic attacks when she is in a room with someone she is unfamiliar with, and she can’t order food at a restaurant because she is afraid to. Mio is currently working on her anxiety problem.

Things she loves- Being alone, the dark, forests, pomegranates and mangos, bunnies, drawing on herself, loves listening to her fav song Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray

Aah, thank you for the ask (and the very kind reblog)!

I'm going to answer the drawing portion first, as I feel that will be more helpful to anyone who's curious! Siy information will be below the cut :]

The speedpaint is cropped so it can be seen better, but I've included what my full canvas looked like as well. The biggest thing for mimicking the art style was looking at the other sprites constantly. I would look at the sprites and find something close to what I was trying to draw, and then stare at that specific part while I worked. For example, Nate's hand, Everett's arm, and Jeremy's tie! Also, I blatantly copy-pasted the uniform pattern, because no way was I gonna try to recreate that 😭

Now, for a small (well, not really small) Siy lore dump under the cut! Warning for a cliche and edgy, self-indulgent OC 💖

Also, Siy sounds a lot like Pran in this, but I assure you, Siy is not inspired by Pran! They are just the XOD version of a character I already had, who happened to also have white hair and a lack of interest in speaking, LOL

Siy, full name Siy Lencten, is a new student at Saint Sarah Belle, transferring during the same year as JB. After their best friend died, Siy went completely mute, believing there was no point in talking to anyone if she wasn't around. Their parents tried everything — therapy, extracurriculars, leave from school — but nothing seemed to get through to them.

That was when Siy's older cousin, who had previously gone to Saint Sarah Belle, mentioned sending Siy there. He told Siy's parents about the strange new friendship-making groups his friends who still went there were being forced into. Siy's parents thought it would be the perfect opportunity for Siy. Maybe some time away from home and some new friends would be just what they needed.

Their parents spoke with the school, and they were placed in the Jerk Squad. Siy was not interested in new friends or fun activities, so it was honestly a bit of a relief to be placed where they were. Lynn let them sit silently with their head down as much as they wanted. What a dream, well, at first.

Eventually Lynn asked them to stay after a meeting, and gave them one of those small school whiteboards for during meetings, asking that they at least answer when asked a question. Of course, the whiteboard thing didn't go over smoothly with the other Jerks, but they all got over it eventually.

And so, yeah! They start to open up more in the second year, but they never fully come out of their shell ^^;;

Have some Siy fun facts because I love them dearly:

- Their last name is the word "Lent" is believed to have come from, meaning their name can be interpreted as Siy Lent, or silent 😭 I'm so funny 💔

- Their best friend that died is named Annabelle Eden Lee, a reference to Edgar Allan Poe's final poem.

- The first people to hear them speak are Jeremy and Pran, because Siy feels like they're the only ones who wouldn't make a big deal about it in one way or another.

- Lynn gives them a portable whiteboard with a marker holder for their first birthday with the group 🥹

- They run cold, and generally wear around 3-4 layers on warm days, and up to 6 or 7 on cold ones.

- They have heterochromia (one green eye and one blue eye), but they wear hazel contacts because they don't like attention. They chose Hazel so that if they ever say the wrong color, people won't question it 😭

- They hate JB at first because she doesn't take the hint that they want to be left alone, but eventually she grows on them <3

- They were assigned male at birth, but their parents are very supportive, even if their dad still screws up their pronouns sometimes 💀

No Eyes Au

Hello there! I humbly offer you fanart of Grian from my AU, which has been tentatively named the No Eyes, aka Sol's Eyes Au, aka SEAU, (aka I see you 👁️👁️).

I REALLY wanna tell y'all more about it, so reference + more yaps under the cut

Okay first, this was my reference!

I think every artist should use this reference at least once in their life because it's genuinely SUCH a cool concept.

NOW!!! ONTO THE FUN STUFF!

Okay so No Eyes, what is it about? Well! I'm so glad I asked! I'd love to tell the internet all about it, completely unprompted!

The Eyes AU is a dual-reality alternate universe incorporating Evo, Hermitcraft, and every Life Season. Possibly YHS as well(?), though I'm not familiar enough with it to say for sure yet. HOWEVER! It also — completely separately from the canon series, yet hopelessly intertwined with them — takes place in a magical modern day setting! Where all the hermits and life series members you know and love exist together, with their fandom-assigned animal/mob traits~

But that's just about every Hermit/Life Series AU, isn't it? What makes this one unique? I'm so glad I asked again!

See, the reason it's called No Eyes, is because — get this — Grian has no eyes. WILD! I know! Okay but seriously. Basically what happened is, in the modern reality, the Watchers are an Avian-exclusive cult. The highest ranking members, called the Scapulars, are all very specifically Owl Avians (thus the Owl Butterflies in the drawing)!! The Scapulars are very powerful, and in exchange for a person's eyes (and undying loyalty), they can bestow some of their power onto others.

However, I'm sorry to disappoint all you angst vultures and disability rep activists out there (y'all are just like me fr fr), but he is NOT fully blind. Part of the power granted by the Watchers is Watcher Sight! Probably not actually called that, but it's the easiest way to refer to it!

The concept is a bit hard to explain. It's kinda like– okay so you know how if you touch something, and then you close your eyes, you're still touching that thing? You can still feel exactly where it is, feel the shape of it, feel it if it moves? That's pretty much what the Watcher Sight is, but it's like you're touching everything around you, all the time. It works in a radius and ignores the concept of "hidden" — basically, it works through walls, and can even sense the needle in the haystack.

However, he can't see. He can't see the things he creates, the places he enjoys, the people he loves. He can only sense them. He may know they're smiling, but he'll never see that smile again.

There's sooooo much more to this AU, but I need to get back to work on my actual career, LOL. Thanks for reading, bye bye!
