The third thing Rudo realizes is that he is between the peacefully sleeping Enjin and y/n.

A sudden realization of the situation instantly clears a light haze from Rudo's head: a pair of ruby eyes opens abruptly and begins to frantically look around, the body habitually tightens, the heart accelerates, breathing quickens in response, and the brain convulsively tries to process information.

Why are the three of them half-sitting, half-lying in the back seat of the car? Why is there no one around? How long have they been in this position? Is danger near?

A sudden snore came from the boy's left, breaking the silence. Rudo instinctively held his breath and froze as much as possible. He slowly turned his head to the left and saw Enjin. The man was lying on his right side, head resting on his bent right arm. Hair was already disheveled, golden eyes were closed, and mouth was open too wide. There were drool stains on the sleeve of his coat. Rudo had never seen his leader so relaxed.

The boy finally understood the situation he was in. Two adults for whom he felt deep respect and trust were now sleeping in the back seat of the car, and he was lying between them. Their position resembled an embrace. The knowledge that was revealed to him warmed the place where his heart should have been, but not in the same way as the rest of his body.

But how did they end up in this situation?

Rudo can remember how he, Enjin, and a few people from the support team finished a difficult order, the last in a rather long list. It was hard for the young giver, but he did not intend to show his visibility. For Rudo, this issue was really difficult and worried him a lot. The kid could not understand why adults preferred to sleep with him, a small wild sphereite, to whom garbage seemed to be the best entertainment or gift, instead of sleeping in the arms of a loved one.

But something deep inside him said that all his questions and guesses shouldn't matter. The main thing is the warmth and, as he suddenly realized, the safety that Enjin and y/n gave him.

Cherishing these feelings, Rudo falls asleep again.

To make sure that both of you were thinking about the same thing, it was enough to look into each other's eyes.

Taking care of cleaning kids has become second nature to the two of you (all adult cleaners tease you by calling you the organization's dad and mom), except that Enjin does it more covertly. There are all the shonens with the powerscaling systems and training arcs and then there’s Gintama where the main character has vaguely the same strenght physically at the start of the series as at the end. The only real difference is that at the end he has a found family, but overall Gintoki has been a monster since episode 1 but it doesn’t feel like it because Gintama, while has interesting fights, is really not about fighting alone

Sure, Gintoki is one of the strongest people in the entire world, including other planets. But that doesn’t really matter when he needs to pay bills or clean up his mess, or when there is toilet paper missing. What good does strenght mean in mundane life?

Gintama rips you apart and leaves you on the ground to face the fact that mundane is beautiful. That even if you’re lazy and irresponsible there is still community for you, there are people who love you, who will scream at you and grumble but help you.
