childhood friends prongstail is so, so important to me.

sleepovers, adventures in the garden, loud laughs, and codependency. them being each other's first real friends. sharing secrets, pinky promises, the smell of cookies, and bedtime stories. peter teaching james how to tie his shoes, and james protecting peter from the older kids. flying low on monty's old broom in warm afternoons, and muffling giggles during important dinners with the adults. they're just so important.

Fest information

1. Sign up close on the 20th of September

2. Works will be due on the 1st of January (if you're running a bit behind schedule please let me know so I can plan accordingly)

3. If you decide at any point you want to leave the fest let me know so I can remove you from the list of works

4. Reveals will start on the 12th of January and the last reveals will be on the 18th of January

Rules for fest works

1. AI is not to be used for creating art or writing fics. This fest is for being creative and having fun!

2. Those over 18 are welcome to make NSFW and dead dove content but it must be tagged appropriately since some people aren't comfortable with this stuff. Unders 18s works cannot contain any NSFW topics.

3. You can talk about you works for the fest in this server but I ask that you don't post about them anywhere else until after they have been revealed.

4. Works must contain atleast one marauders era character.

5. It must be inspired by a David Bowie song (if you want to change your song just let me know)

picturing dorlene being god awful with children, like. they’re the childless lesbians for a reason. dorcas is absolutely the maleficent type who just waves to it with long sharp nails and a forced smile that looks more like a sneer. she’s honestly more scared of it than it’s scared of her, backing up when it tries to touch her with mysteriously sticky hands. dorcas “why doesn’t it understand this purse is designer?” meadowes. marlene tries her best, she really does, but it’s like a curse bestowed upon her to say all the wrong things. anything that comes out of her mouth makes it start sobbing hysterically. marlene “no, don’t cry, we’re all going to die one day!” mckinnon. neither of them have a singular maternal bone in their body and i will not be convinced otherwise.

You guys seemed to like trans Mary too so here is one of my hc

When she was young, she "invented" a character named Mary (a princess who would help and save the people of her kingdom undercover) and would "impersonate" her. She would steal her sister's clothes and only answer if people called her Mary and she.

Her parents didn't know anything about transgender people but they just wanted their child to be happy. When Mary first started to "play Mary" they tried to make her change back to boys clothes to go to school a few times but when they saw they little girl cry all of her soul out, they let her dress they way she wanted it

She then asked to grow her longer to look more like her character. She started "impersonating" her more and more and would introduce herself to strangers as Mary so a lot of people in her neighbourhood or in her school didn't know she was amab.

i looove smart mary macdonald. not smart in a bookish way, not someone who studies a lot, but analytical, sharp, and charismatic. the kind of person who keeps her cards close to her chest, who thinks before she speaks, always aware of how she's perceived.

she comes off as bubbly and fun-loving because that's how she wants to be seen, and she never lets anyone see what's underneath.

lily who feels out loud, who throws her whole chest into it. lets it swell beneath her ribs like something beautifully violent in grins that split her face, flushed anger, cheeky things called out to marlene across the hall without shame, red nose and blotchy eyes from crying when she's hurt, in loving without flinching. lily who’s giddy when she's excited, playfully dramatic when she's joking, fierce when she's protecting someone. lily who doesn't apologise for feeling too much. lily who laughs at her own jokes, talks with her hands, can't tell a story without miming something ridiculous and gets fired up about nearly everything and will 100% debate the ethics of the most random topics at odd hours if it she’s passionate and opinionated enough (she is). lily who is absolutely shite at knitting but keeps doing it because ‘it's supposed to be relaxing’ and writes insightful little notes in the margins of her books. lily who gets ink stains all over her fingertips and sometimes sings ridiculous little made-up songs while studying—half mnemonic, half rhyming nonsense. lily who insists on birthday badges, party hats, surprise parties—even if someone insists they don’t want one, writes thoughtful/funny little notes in people’s textbooks when borrowing them and talks to herself when working through a problem. lily who never shrinks herself for anyone. lily who looks at you, really looks at you and makes you feel held.

I have been quiet about something im seeing on every platform where fandom is a thing for creators, and I need to get it off my chest, especially for the readers and engagers.

If you are active in a fandom and trying to create original stories/videos/art/posts in any way, one of the most discouraging things that can happen (in my opinion) is that piece of yours being compared to one of the handful of 'big fics' that float around in your fandom.

Nothing is as annoying as when you post something you wrote/made for the first comments to be 'oh this is so [insert well known fic]', 'Oh I love [insert well known fic + character] so much, this is so him', 'If you like this you should read [insert fic everyone has read].'

Yes these stories are well loved, with reason bc they are great, but original artists/writers/cosplayers will NEVER copy something without saying so. So as long as nowhere it states "this was inspired by [instert fic]" please don't compare works, don't remind a cosplayer they are like a certain fics character or make a fic connection to art.

It's annoying, frustrating, and very discouraging.

Tl,dr; please stop bringing up 'big fics' in comments of work that is not stated to be inspired by that 'big fic'. It's annoying and discouraging for creators.
