the number one rule for watching star trek the original series is that you CANNOT under any circumstances go into an episode expecting it to be Good. if it ends up being one of the Good ones, this is purely coincidence and you should not expect it to happen again. the main takeaway from any tos episode should be that it could've stood to lose maybe 20 minutes of runtime, and that's part of the charm. you HAVE to understand this to make the most of it.

made my friend (who has only seen 1 other star trek episode) watch Amok Time and before we went to bed she stumbled out of the shower with the ultimate epiphany: “orgasms are also called ‘little death’, SPOCK KILLS KIRK!” and shes right. shes so right. ‘little death’ is a euphemism for orgasming. Kirk dies in that episode, only for a little while. guys. guys

introducing everyone to Akyra, my star trek OC :) posting this here because my good friend @w0rmysalad drew this for me as a gift. (theyre so gifted as an artist please go check them out!!)

The concept for Akyra was essentially what if a half vulcan/half human person was born into less fortunate circumstances than Spock was but still found their way into starfleet. that and the thought “what if TOS head of security was part of the main cast” He doesn’t know much about human or vulcan culture and has honestly given up on trying to be one or the other, but has dedicated themself to being the scary scary guard dog of the enterprise. hopefully less nameless redshirts die horribly now :)

“I can’t believe this aired” (the worst plot you’ve ever seen on tv)

“I can’t believe this aired” (a piece of media so beyond its time and still relevant to today’s discussions, that I’m surprised it didn’t got censored at the time it went on air)

“I can’t believe this aired” (gay as fuck)
