I love this blog so much!!! I’m sad it’s not active anymore. Though if you need help running the blog, I’d be happy to help mod!
Hi! I’m glad you like it, but I don’t actually have any plans to start it back up again. I’m never going to delete it and will continue to answer any asks, but for the foreseeable future spockfacts will continue to be inactive. I still produce some content @golyadkin (art blog) and @plant-dad-sulu (trek blog) and reblog things to the latter! Thanks for the ask, it’s nice to know people are still enjoying this blog!

To the people replying to this ask saying Spock canonically has green blood and it tints his skin: Yes that’s true, but the tone I used in the icon previous to this new one was not tinted “yellowish” it was full-on green, which is a design choice a lot of jewish trek fans have spoken out against as being antisemitic. I should have changed it a while ago, but I never did and that’s my mistake, I really do apologize. And it should be said, just because something is canon to a show or franchise doesn’t mean it’s not offensive in the real world. Spock debuted in the 60′s and there was (and still is) a lot of antisemitism present in the media and the world as a whole and we would be remiss to divorce Star Trek from that context; it isn’t immune to fault and bigotry, intentional or otherwise, just because it was making strides in other areas. If someone speaks up that something is offensive (in this case a lot of people have spoken up over the years) it’s our job to listen and correct accordingly. I did not mention Spock’s canon blood colour in my response because it was not the issue at hand in regards to my icon. I would be lying if I said I was well-versed in antisemitic tactics as I am not Jewish and have not done a great deal of research. If someone tells me something I have done is antisemitic it is not my job to argue, only learn.
Hey, in case you didn't know, portraying Spock with green skin or green blood is antisemitic, as Leonard Nimoy was Jewish, and portraying Jewish people with green skin or blood is a known antisemitic tactic. You might want to change your icon.
Yes! I actually did not know this while this blog was active and by the time I learned it I was no longer updating here so it didn’t occur to me to change it. Thank you for reminding me, I’ll fix it now

Spock during the day: Can’t work, sun’s up
Spock at night: Can’t work, sun’s down
SpockFact #129
Having a standard set time for all Starfleet ships is a necessity for the sake of communication and synchronicity, however it does make it challenging for the crew when they land on a planet where days pass differently than they do onboard. This is dually true for moments when the ship lands on the daytime side of a planet while it is nighttime onboard, and the crew can often suffer serious jet lag or an interrupted circadian rhythm. For Spock, who grew up on a different planet than the one their artificial time is based on and has a circadian rhythm built to Vulcan rather than Earth, watching the crew groggily wade through a new timezone is like sweet sweet justice.
#suns out guns put safely away until it's a little darker#additions#coolweepingfestcollector#hey i'm back for this one thing only because i liked the reply

Spock’s Telopathic Abilities: a personal headcannon
Spock has enhanced telepathic abilities (higher then the average Vulcan) he can do things other Vulcans can’t do. He also senses things and say it‘s the tricorder. Or he might not be entirely aware of them.
In Season 1 Episode 23, “A Taste of Armageddon”, Spock mind melds through a wall, implying the he doesn’t need physical contact to mind meld. (Quote). Kirk: Are you sure you can do it, Mister Spock?
Spock: Limited telepathic abilities are inherent in Vulcanians, Captain. It may work. It may not.
Kirk: Do your best.
(Spock goes to the door and begins to slowly work his way across it. Outside, the guard starts to blink and shake his head. Spock reaches the place directly behind the guard and looks as if he is doing a mind meld through the wall. Slowly, the guard opens the door and enters. He is swiftly disarmed and knocked out.)
Kirk: Thank you, Mister Spock.
Spock: My pleasure, Captain
Example in season 2 episode 3, “The Changeling”, he mind-melded Nomad, a machine. Not something with an inherently conscious mind(at least in TOS).
Season 3 episode 19, “Requiem for Methuselah”, Spock figured out what Rayna is (an android) from almost the start, and he could tell what was behind the door. Both instances without physical contact, further showing that he’s not strictly touch telepathic.

This the tumblr anon game! Randomly pick 3 fics, pieces of art, music, original stories, - anything that's yours and post 3 things each that you like about them. After, go anonymously send this ask to at least 3 people. Spread self positivity! Ready, set, GO!
1. My old fic Echoes of NarcissusWhile I never finished this one I had big plans for it and I’ll always be very fond of it. 3 things I like about it are 1. the balance between humour and serious subject matter, 2. the plot and the recurring themes it carried (it was gonna be so good), and 3. the relationship I built between Chekov and Sulu (My favourite official books were always based on them, especially those written by L. A. Graf)
2. These drawings I did of Garak3 things I like about it are 1. I like the colour scheme and how the purple and gold are balanced, 2. I like the line art style and how it suits him, even though I’ve never replicated it, and 3. I like the way I coloured it with the obvious brushstrokes and the slightly grainy texture, too often my art winds up very smooth and flat
3. An original story I’ve been working on, temporarily titled Endless MouthIt’s not posted anywhere, but I did actually write a Book of Mormon fic with the same general plot to help me develop the ideas and now that I’ve started writing it as an original story I’ve reached over 110k words and it’s feeling really good. 3 things I like about it are 1. These drawings I did of the main characters which I love the styles of and really helped motivate me in my writing, 2. the characters who I developed while desperately trying to avoid the Everyman type, and 3. the exploration of mental illness in a non-typical atmosphere
Thanks for sending this, it was a lot of fun!

Do you listen to podcasts and if so, do you listen to star trek outpost? I've been looking around for a fandom for it but so far I'm out of luck! I've been drawing all this fan art for an audience of 1!
I do listen to podcasts but unfortunately not that one. Maybe one of our followers does!

SpockFact #136
During the brief period of time in which chess was Sulu’s favourite hobby, he and Spock would occasionally play a match or two. With different strategies and evenly matched skill levels, they became regular opponents and bonded over their shared inability to beat their captain.
#spock took as many notes as vulcanly possible#spock#sulu#star trek tos#star trek aos#if it were a two on one match then kirk would def go down
