Everyone in Project: Eden is a hypocrite
and I adore it so much because it adds a level of depth to the story that I haven't seen done in any Dangan game before.
Spoilers for chapter 1 of Project: Eden's Garden
The reason I say everyone in Project Eden is a hypocrite is simply because of the way they act in regards to the Killing Game. In the beginning, when they do the mock class trial over the fake dead body, at the end when Tozu reveals that they will have to do this for their own classmates in the future, they make this bold stand against that and say they won't even participate in the Killing Game.
Damon and Eva are the only two to point out how it's a bit naive to just go blindly trusting that nobody here would ever murder someone, and that everyone has the capacity to commit a violent act, all they'd need is a motive. This sows distrust throughout the group, but everyone keeps their distance from both Eva and Damon afterwards and basically give them the cold shoulder.
HOWEVER
During Chapter 1 you can clearly see through their actions that many of them took what Damon and Eva said to heart, they just don't have the guts to admit it out loud, which is that they don't actually trust anyone in the class to not kill someone. In the prologue they make it a point to just say they won't kill anyone, and that they'll just exist in the school and wait until someone comes to help. And in Chapter 1 they're already making "precautions" against a game they're supposedly not playing.
They "trust everyone" so much, but they're also investigating the Pharmacy they found so everyone can know whats inside of it and there's no secrets to be uncovered.
They have so much 'faith" that no one would murder anyone at night, but they propose a bunk buddy system so that everyone can always have a partner with them.
They would "never kill anyone ever even with a motive!", but some of them have serious reservations against sharing their blackmail letters with anyone and don't want that information getting out.
Do you see what I'm saying? Their actions are different than what they're saying. They are actively participating in the Killing Game but won't admit that THAT'S what's happening here. They are hypocrites because they judged Damon and Eva for being honest from the start about not wanting to trust anyone, only for them to have that same level of distrust for each other the next day. They would never admit that Damon and Eva were some what correct in what they said that first day.
And I think that's why the 1st chapter is called "Beneath the Veil of Hypocrisy" because it's not just referring to Damon and Eva, but EVERYONE who is participating in the Killing Game.

It is very likely that corporations will begin lobbying for governments to increase gun legislation, which will thoroughly increase the already growing fire among Republicans regarding their firearms.
Whatever happens next, many will suffer.
The Rage and Glee That Followed a C.E.O.’s Killing Should Ring All Alarms
Tumblr media
"The concentration of extreme wealth in the United States has recently surpassed that of the Gilded Age. And the will among politicians to push for broad public solutions appears to have all but vanished. I fear that instead of an era of reform, the response to this act of violence and to the widespread rage it has ushered into view will be limited to another round of retreat by the wealthiest. Corporate executives are already reportedly beefing up their security. I expect more of them to move to gated communities.... Almost certainly, armed security entourages and private jets will become an even more common element of executive compensation packages, further removing routine contact between the extremely wealthy and the rest of us, except when employed to serve them."
--Zeynep, Tufekci, professor of Sociology and Public Affairs, Princeton University
Tumblr media
This is a gift 🎁 link, so you can read the whole insightful article by Zynep Tufekci, a Princeton sociologist. She discusses the "avalanche" of rage against the insurance industry that this shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson evoked on social media:
I’ve been studying social media for a long time, and I can’t think of any other incident when a murder in this country has been so openly celebrated. The conditions that gave rise to this outpouring of anger are in some ways specific to this moment. Today’s business culture enshrines the maximization of executive wealth and shareholder fortunes, and has succeeded in leveraging personal riches into untold political influence. New communication platforms allow millions of strangers around the world to converse in real time. [emphasis added]
[See more under the cut.]
Tufekci describes how income inequality today has exceeded that of the Gilded Age, during which the wealth of the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers, etc. (i.e., the "Robber Barons") was amassed. Referring to the Gilded Age, Tufekci commented:
Less well remembered is the brutality that underlay that wealth — the tens of thousands of workers, by some calculations, who lost their lives to industrial accidents, or the bloody repercussions they met when they tried to organize for better working conditions. Also less well remembered is the intensity of political violence that erupted. The vast inequities of the era fueled political movements that targeted corporate titans, politicians, judges and others for violence. [emphasis added]
Slowly but surely, over time, reform occurred. Tufekci says:
The turbulence and violence of the Gilded Age eventually gave way to comprehensive social reform. The nation built a social safety net, expanded public education and erected regulations and infrastructure that greatly improved the health and well-being of all Americans. [emphasis added]
Tufekci is worried that the U.S., a nation that is "awash in powerful guns," may be entering a new violent era. She fears that the national response to today's income inequality and corporate exploitation will unfortunately not be the kinds of reforms that happened previously--reforms that limited how much corporations (and their wealthy owners/ CEOs) could exploit labor, consumers & the environment.
What Tufekci implies, but doesn't state, is the reason those kinds of reforms won't happen is because nearly half of the country, riled up by right-wing media, elected Trump--a greedy corporate billionaire--to (supposedly) take away their economic pain.
So of course Trump has enlisted two other billionaires, Musk and Ramaswamy, to demolish labor protections, business regulations and the social safety net--the very reforms that helped average citizens avoid the worst labor exploitation and economic problems that had occurred during the Gilded Age.
In doing so, Trump and the billionaire oligarchs working with him are setting the nation up for disaster.
These billionaires who believe that anything that helps corporations (and the wealthy who own or run them) flourish, seem to have completely forgotten that AI is now finally taking off. and in its wake many people (including those in technical fields and management) will be laid off.
But by that time, there will be little or no social safety net for them to fall back on.
Unfortunately, there will be lots of AR-15s laying around.
Wait until the working and middle classes FINALLY realize they've been had by Trump and the billionaire oligarchs.
The violence of the Gilded Age will unfortunately, likely be nothing in comparison.

Okay, so, friends. Occasionally I see an American post on here about “guillotine the rich,” and it turns out that “rich” means “anyone making over $50k.”
We need to clear this shit up REAL fast, because otherwise it’s gonna wind up like the French Revolution, where more middle class and poor people were killed for being “class traitors” than actual nobles. (Did you know that France has more nobles today than during the French Revolution? While there were a few showy executions, many nobles did just fine or experienced minor setbacks.)
If someone makes $60,000 a year, they are making about twice as much as a full time worker making minimum wage in California, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, or Washington State.
Brian Thompson, the CEO of United HealthCare who was just assassinated in New York City, earned $10 million a year, which means he earned 333 times minimum wage in those states. Basically, he cleared an annual minimum wage salary in just over a day. And that “rich” person making $60k/year that you want to guillotine? He made their salary in a bit over two days of a year.
So he was rich, right?
Well. Tesla is trying to give Elon Musk a pay package of $101 billion. That is 10,100 times what Brian Thompson earned and 3,366,667 times more than a minimum wage worker. (Tesla hasn’t been successful yet because of a complicated lawsuit from a shareholder, but they’ll get there.) If you are a minimum wage worker, Elon Musk makes more every SECOND than you do in a year. And that “rich” person who you want to guillotine? He makes their salary in about 1.6 seconds. Even when he’s sleeping.
Now, remember. The Muskrat also is the head of SpaceX, the Boring Company, X.ai, and X.com, so this is just ONE pay package for him.
What I’m saying is — you have much more in common when it comes to economic grievances with someone earning $60,000 (or even $200,000) than the ultra wealthy that have real power. They are not the people you should expend your energy on.

It's legit such an insane contrast to his initial desperation to live back in the alt timeline. Since here,he realises he's in the SAME position as alt!Jayce when he got turned by Viktor; he just takes a breath, closes his eyes and gives in. I think on some level he's glad that Viktor is the one to take his life.

Legitimately the perfect fucking summary of what happened, couldn't have been said better.
viktor arcane has to be one of the characters ever.
he's gay. he's terminally ill. he's suicidal. he's from league of legends. he's in a toxic relationship with an orb. he also might be the orb(???). he bullshitted his way into the academy by pretending he went there. he rizzed up a guy so he wouldn't kill himself. he then tried to impress said guy by breaking into his boss's lab. then when he got caught he tried to play it off by saying he thought this big intimidating door was his bedroom door and he was just trying to sneak a guy in there. he nearly died because hetero sex was happening like a mile away. kinda. he took illegal drugs. he's also the apprentice of the guy who's making the illegal drugs and never mentions it. he's inspired off of the tale of frankenstein's monster. he got shot by a missle and fucking died. when he came back to life he immediately broke up his messy gay situationship and became jesus fucking christ.
truly one of the characters of all time
EDIT cause i made this pre-act 2:
he started a cult. his ex came back from purgatory and shot him straight through the fucking chest. he got revived by his illegal drug making mentor using mutant furry blood. he turned everyone into fucked up magic robots. he got neutered by magic orb. he fought with his ex and choked him freaky style. a time travelling guy threw an orb at him and then he found out he and his ex were inextricably bound in every universe and timeline. then they went to super heaven.
