There is a Key Change and Brooklyn Nouveau Pop artist Janna Pelle is bringing it to you with new single & music video “Hungry”.

What do you get when you throw three megalithic musical talents like Lady Gaga and Fiona Apple with the alter ego of David Byrne into a melting pot and stir it up - a musical lovechild Janna Pelle that’s what!
Hungry is the latest offering from Brooklyn based via Miami nouveau popstress Janna Pelle and is lifted off her third album Key Change.
It is Pelle’s first concept album, on the evolution of the keyboard instrument through the means of pop music. Each track on the album is performed by a different keyboard instrument from harpsichord to synthesizer. It was inspired by David Byrne’s book, “How Music Works”, which focuses on how music composition has changed throughout history due to the spaces it was performed in. Pelle decided to take this idea and focus specifically on the piano.
“Key Change is a wondrously piano laden pop masterpiece”
Janna Pelle say’s..."I wrote Hungry when I was in a fulfilling relationship - so fulfilling that it almost made me lose motivation. It was the feeling of, 'I'm so content, who cares if things don't work out with ([insert name of goal/area)?' But there's a fine line between being content and being truly happy. The song is about figuring out the difference.”
“With the video, I wanted to show what it can feel like to be playing your heart out to an audience who isn't listening - maybe they're too busy stuffing their face with something else. But ultimately, we are all hungry for human connection. There may be only one person in the crowd that you really get through to, and that either makes it all worth it, or it doesn't.”
Watch the music video for Hungry here...
youtube
Pelle says, “Luc Lippens found me through GigSalad - and when I saw the keyboard I thought, nothing says Key Change like this Lippens Keyboard! It was a pretty perfect partnership. I chose to play the Lippens Keyboard in the Hungry video because it represents innovation, a complete remodel of the traditional keyboard - it represents still being hungry for progress and growth."

Luc Lippens states, "We love having such a forward thinker and performer as Janna Pelle putting our keyboard to use. Her new music video, Hungry, is definitely an imaginative work of art and reminds me a little of a modern day Twilight Zone episode."
Why not catch Janna Pelle at Blend The Femme this Nov 30th at Kill Your Idol, Miami.

“Hollow Cause” packs one hell of a rock punch...Castle Pines is one Californian band we should all be listening to!

“A visceral, high-energy, rock journey through the television set and media consumption with catchy and poignant lyrics about what apathy and self responsibility mean in the age of unlimited information.”
A breath of fresh air, Castle Pines is four piece Alternative-Rock outfit from Corona, California. An engaging group who are known in their local and surrounding areas for electrifying and emotional live performances. The band defies all others with a versatile palette that passionately conveys a spectrum of emotions through the medium of their music.
Crafting songs that are authentic and catchy, yet musically complex and profound, Castle Pines reflects the generation of Rock and Alternative. They cultivate emotionally driven music with integrity and passion.
Forming the band out of the angst of losing his families home in the 2008 housing market crash, Leandro Barrientos and Sterling Fairfield decided on writing music to create a new home. Castle Pines Way the street where the now homeless Leandro used to live became the name of the band and the fuel that pushed the music.
Having all met while living at the “Castle Pines” house and picking up their respective instruments there, they formed the band as remembrance and tribute to a time that had already passed them.
The band writes partly based off of their influences, growing up in Corona they were exposed to Punk, Hardcore, Metal, Thrash, Emo and everything in between at the now defunct Showcase Theater. Growing up getting black eyes in the pit, and experiencing the raw force of live, aggressive music, the band channeled these experiences into their own tunes and songwriting. Drawing influence from acts like Pixies, Death by Stereo, Kings of Leon, Wilco, Radiohead, At the Drive-in and Modest Mouse, the boys in the band have crafted something that is recollective, yet new and their own.
“Music is probably the easiest way to communicate to someone, like making a concrete connection, you don’t really have to say what your telling me or what you went through! - Leandro Barrientos, Everything Rad Podcast”
They have been busy working on building up their local home-town scene by supporting other bands in the area and playing hundreds of shows over the last 4 years. They maintain an active presence in their music and arts community of the Inland Empire, having been a part of local music festivals and benefit shows. With 2 studio albums, 1 live album and recently released singles, the band is working on their third studio album to be released as a concept piece.
Castle Pines is a group of guys who are extremely engaging with a crowd and fans. They play multiple charity and benefit concerts to enrich their community and give back. The band performed at the #BeerforSB Benefit Show 2015, raising over $100,000 in funds for the victims of the San Bernardino Shooting. Castle Pines is a six-year veteran of the Southern California Music scene. With multiple sold out shows, they have immersed themselves in the culture of their city and the music industry creating an impressive portfolio including airplay on a host of radio stations in countries such as South Africa, the UK, Scotland, New Zealand and right across the length and breadth of the USA even having their music featured on the Hype Machine.
Castle Pines is Leandro (vocalist) and Ricky Garvey (lead guitarist), Sterling Fairfield (percussionist) and Jesse Briseno (bassist)

NOAH EARP releases new single and MV for “The Raw and The Cooked” off his fresh new LP “Disinheritor”.

Australian songsmith Noah Earp has released his new single The Raw and the Cooked, a broad, sweeping stroke of alternative folk-rock. To accompany the single, Earp has released a self-made film clip that endears the viewer with its undeniable quirk. The Raw and the Cooked is the first taste of Earp’s debut album Disinheritor, an enlightening collection of songs that demonstrates a rare ear for unexpected harmony.
The Raw and the Cooked rambles comfortably across its three and a half minutes, generating a sprawling acoustic soundscape that lifts and inspires the listener. Evoking thoughts of Father John Misty and Radiohead, the track nestles sweetly underneath Earp’s inimitable vocal, then climaxes in perfect chaos.
Of the track, Earp says...
“The Raw and the Cooked is about a person who is trapped in a bad scene. At first she seems really cynical, but actually the cynicism masks a certain naivete. We all have this to some extent - nothing is too neat and nobody's perfect. I liked the idea of a love song that wasn't…in the end this pretty love song fragments into a million pieces, because life is scary and chaotic.”
The clip for The Raw and the Cooked is lovingly homemade by Earp himself, and features charming characters, including Brisbane musician Laneous and band member Danny Cox, in iconic Melbourne scenes. Affectionately tongue-in-cheek, the clip was inspired by several wasted hours spent watching extreme sports and skateboard tricks on YouTube.
Earp laughs, “I thought it'd be cool to grab some GoPros and film an extremely untalented person making an absolute mockery of themselves and the sport. I thought the album was serious enough…I have a habit of doing music videos myself. It's not generally advised, but I like learning about filmmaking, and I'd rather learn about it by jumping in and giving it a shot.”
Earp’s debut album Disinheritor demonstrates the troubadour’s insatiable taste for poetics and symbolism, encompassed within a balanced acoustic/electronic environment. The result is tender, suffused with melancholy, marked by Earp’s delicate vocal tone and unforeseen tunings that unsettle as much as they ease. “It's a debut album... but the irony is it all comes across as a swan song.”
Disinheritor out and available now!
Noah was gracious enough to answer our #Q&A...
G’day we’re... Noah Earp.
What do you do… I write the songs.
The last song you listened to... Wu-Tang Clan’s ‘Da Mystery of Chessboxin’
The first record/cd/cassette you bought with your own money… It was either Oasis’ ‘What’s the Story Morning Glory’ or The Backstreet Boys. I’m really hoping it was the first one.
When in the studio you must have... A beanbag. Beanbags are good for creativity and they mysteriously let you seem friendly and a little stand-offish at the same time.
Your craziest fan moment... Mercifully I’m not a particularly good looking person, so I’ve been spared the really crazy ones. People only want to mail you pipe bombs if you’re a babe. I wait by the mailbox every day but nothing ever comes…
What song was a life changer for you... The earliest song I remember being really overwhelmed by as a kid was the old folk song ‘My Grandfather’s Clock’. It’s the one that ends with the line ‘but it stopped short/never to go again/when the old man died’. Something about that image still sends a shiver down my spine, no doubt it’s partly responsible for the morbid tendency of my songwriting.
What’s your fave Music Video and why... Not really a music video, but Dylan’s promo video for ‘Subterannean Homesick Blues’ is the coolest thing you can do without trying too hard. M.I.A’s ‘Born Free’ is pretty amazing too.
Who inspires you musically… Anyone who kept changing, and kept pushing the boundaries. People who did it without any recognition or applause are even more inspiring.
If I could put you on the stage with anyone artist who would it be (alive or dead, bearing mind we have the technology and knowing you can sing)… Hendrix, because there’s probably not a song in the world he couldn’t make better. Or maybe Dizzy Gillespie. I had a dream a few nights ago that Dizzy Gillespie did a ‘back from the dead’ comeback tour. He’d even learnt to rap while he was gone.
State one thing that most people don’t know about you… I killed a man in Reno, just to watch him die.
Favourite Ice-Cream (this is important)… Pistacchio gelati, of course.
Best advice for new and emerging artists… Don’t be a musician or an artist. Drop all your creative pursuits and get a job in finance. It’ll save you the heartache. You’ll thank me for this later. So will your mum. If, on the other hand, you’re gonna do it anyway, then congratulations, you don’t need my advice.
Have you ever made a mixtape for a friend… I used to make a few in high school. I also used to make them for long bus rides, trying to get the forward and return journeys to have really different vibes.
Favourite place to listen to music… The place is unimportant, but good speakers and company are essential. If you can get both of those on a tropical island paradise, you’re doing well.
What’s your musical discovery this year… Two big ones spring to mind: one was the Brazilian singer-songwriter Caetano Veloso, who I’ve been delving into the discography of, and the other is a set of recordings called ‘The Music of Armenia’, which is pretty much what it sounds like. Stunning, otherworldy music.
What's on the cards musically looking forward for you... What I’d like to do next is really expand my style of music making, take the songs from tightly written lyrical pieces into sprawling and expressive narrative collages. And try to bring in something from hip hop and Alexander Pushkin if I can.
How would you define success… I know I’m supposed to say something humble about being true to yourself or whatever, but actually, you can just define success by the number of luxury cars in your driveway and the size of your swimming pool. Like I said kids, get a job in finance!
Do you think that online social media is an important tool for musicians today… It’s an important tool, but it’s not as important as your instrument. It’s easy to get that priority the wrong way round.
What do you love about being a musician/singer-songwriter the most… Honestly, it’s the people. Musicians don’t always have the best reputation, but in my book they’re some of the friendliest, funniest, most intelligent and generous people I know.
Do you have a bucket list… I’d like to make a strange Frankenstein biopic of my life starring Tilda Swinton doing me as a young man (or woman! why not?), and Gene Hackman doing me as an old guy.

Indie Folk Rockstress Tia Gostelow releases “Vague Utopia”...

Tia Gostelow’s arresting vocals ebb and flow from gossamer-draped lilts to velvet timbres, which resonate with nostalgic longing.
Gostelow matches her unique voice with rich instrumentals to create her distinctive style - contemporary folk intertwined with blues, and indie rock. A style which earned recognition from Triple J Unearthed, winning their Indigenous Initiative and, separately, a place in their Triple J Unearthed High Top 5 Finals, both in 2016.
One of Australia’s most promising emerging talents, Tia values the art of songwriting and creating music with integrity.
In Tia’s new single, Vague Utopia, she sings about experiencing the cusp of adulthood, her voice unfurling through a hazy, wanderlust vibe.
“It’s that feeling of ‘almost’ – school’s almost over, we’re almost adults and almost in a world other than school.”
Vague Utopia follows Tia’s debut solo single, State of Art, a hypnotic, syrup-dipped track exploring “the realisation that the person who you were so in love with isn’t really as great as you thought they were”.
“I make sense of life through song. I really live and breathe music - it has to be sincere, from the heart.”
Gostelow is working on her debut solo EP. “I tend to develop songs, even happy ones, with minor chords so they can still sound melancholy even if I’m not writing about heartbreak. But most of my work is usually very chilled, so it's perfect for a Sunday afternoon or a road trip, where you can feel comfortable and relaxed and just take the time to listen to the lyrics.”
Compared by her fans to First Aid Kit, Julia Stone, Stevie Nicks and “Fleetwood Mac crossed with Bjork”.
Gostelow has already shared the stage with some of Australia’s finest and she’s now looking forward to touring the East Coast and releasing her debut EP in 2017.
“truly one inspiringly talented artist bound for big things on the musical landscape”

Pepa Knight returns with the beautifully arranged anthemic single “Company”.
After taking some time out to close the final chapter of Jinja Safari’s journey, NSW Central Coast-based musician and songwriter Pepa Knight has returned under his solo moniker with new single Company – recorded and produced by the artist himself.

The anthemic indie-pop cut draws on comparisons from the likes of staple influences Peter Gabriel, Glass Animals and Local Natives, whilst retaining the songsmith’s signature approach to writing with multi-instrumental and jungle-esque elements prominently featured and melded with his affectionate and dream-laden vocal melodies.
Let Company envelop you here...
Knight explains the creative process behind Company and the exciting future of his independent project..
“This tune actually came about from a 6-year long collaboration with a good friend of mine and genius songwriter Stephen Engstrom (AKA Stezrat). He originally sent me the idea back in 2010 and it only finally came together earlier this year while I was in-between mixing the final Jinja Safari album. Now that JS has come to an end, I now have the headspace to move on creatively and excited to release more music in the near future.”

Pepa Knight first launched his solo project in early 2014 and achieved significant feats early on including single Clams receiving a full rotation add on Triple J, a feature by Rolling Stone India and inclusion on boutique festivals Mountain Sounds Festival and Secret Garden.
“PK’s ability to meld sounds and then braid them together with his nectarous vocals is exhilarating!”
Plans for the second instalment of his split album Hypnotized Vol.II have been shifted to an early 2017 release after the musician has largely spent the last two years focusing on the final Jinja Safari double album.
An accompanying music video for Company will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
Company is now available to stream via Spotify.

Music Video Of The Week - Rainbow Chan “Work”.
Rainbow Chan is a Sydney-based singer/producer via Hong Kong. A fervent collector of sounds, Rainbow has a penchant for blending saccharine melodies and left-of-centre beats. Since taking out FBi Radio’s Northern Lights Competition in 2011, Rainbow has been building a reputation as one of the most innovative musicians on the scene with her brand of pop.
While classically trained in saxophone, piano and choral singing, Rainbow’s fondest musical memories are those of family day trips in a squishy car, singing along to mix-tapes sent from her grandmother in Hong Kong. From Chinese folksongs to Western ballads, Grandma’s hodgepodge tapes would have a lasting impression on her music.
“Spacings is a body of work to be proud of...we love it!”

Rainbow Chan has been busy preparing for the release of her debut album, Spacings, now that it is out in the wind, it’s time to sit back and reap the positive praise on a stunning LP. The record is about distance, impossible intimacies and things that relentlessly collapse upon themselves.
Not shying away from pop tropes, Rainbow fragments and reconfigures the familiar into strange mosaic pieces. Warped tones reminiscent of early Japanese electronic producers rub against modern RnB hooks. Most compelling are her vocal arrangements which oscillate between choral, soulful and the post-human. It is her most confident and refined work yet.

Castlecomer release new MV for “Judy” & Upcoming EP “All Of The Noise” and National Tour dates...

Eclectic rock band Castlecomer have released the video for their new single Judy, an exploration of a taboo relationship from the perspective of the weaker party. They dropped their new EP All Of The Noise, a dynamic and experimental take on classic guitar pop, this past Friday.
To celebrate, Castlecomer will embark on an East Coast tour in November, kicking off in Wollongong on Thursday November 17, then playing Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and finishing up in Byron Bay on Saturday December 16.
We caught up with the lads for a little #Q&A here’s what we found out...
G’day we’re... Castlecomer (Neely – Keys)
What do you do... Play tin whistle for a contemporary Irish Trio
The last song you listened to... Drive by Gretta Ray, that’s a tune!!
The first record/cd/cassette you bought with your own money... I wasn’t allowed pocket money as a child so I bought by first album later in life. It was "In Time, the best of REM" 2003
When in the studio you must have... Fruit Ninja
Your craziest fan moment... The craziest one will never put in writing..... But our fans are the greatest and we are always trying to up the game for their approving ears!
What song was a life changer for you... Bruce Hornsby "The Way it is". It is my sound check song for ever!!
What’s your fave Music Video and why... Buttons. Enough said.
Who inspires you musically... Bon Iver is definitely an inspiration for me. Maybe not stylistically, but I love the way he experiments with a songs structure and arc. He is a musical god.

Have you ever made a mixtape for a friend... No I haven't actually, I've always been a selfish prick
Favourite place to listen to music... In the bathtub, with my mates.
What’s your musical discovery this year... I'm really loving the Unearthed High winner Gretta Ray. She’s going to be massive.
What's on the cards musically looking forward for you... We are going into the studio with JP Fung this month to record a few more tracks. We made 'Fire Alarm' with him last year so I'm very keen to see what we can come up with this time. The Demos are sounding real nice.
How would you define success... When I don’t have to work on Oxford St anymore, haha
Do you think that online social media is an important tool for musicians today... Yeah, for sure. It is the primary way we promote our stuff. As an independent band It would be incredibly difficult to get anything out there if we didn’t have our Facebook and Instagram
Who would you have cast as yourself in a movie about your life... Lebron James! I saw him in 'Trainwreck' with Amy Schumer , what a performance!! Also we are the same height.
Do you have a bucket list... Glastonbury
Grab a gander at the kick arse MV for Judy...

Colorado teen Dominic Ellerbee - musical prodigies album in the wings, needs your help!
As if the struggles of being a modern day musician are not hard enough, so much competition out there, everyone striving to be the next Ed Sheeran, Lady GaGa or One Direction and then there are those that life has thrown just about every obstacle it could.
As Ellen TV did, we heard from Dominic Ellerbee via a personal email, when he sent through his music for us to listen to, it seems as though he has been a bit of a STS fan for awhile which is humbling.
Ellerbee is 19 and lives in Denver, Colorado, a talented musician and songwriter/composer and multi-instrrumentalist born to a single teenage mother, so things have always been tough for him growing up. Dominic tells us he has gone through a lot of hard times in his life, with his father killing himself when he was 12, homeless at 16, and now at 19 he’s lost his job and his family are on the verge of losing their home once more.

Ellerbee talks of trying to make a better life for himself and his family, but it is so hard...
“We've been struggling for as long as I can remember and I feel like this song and my music is our ticket to a better life.”
Ellerbee was excepted into the Berklee College Of Music and attended the Fall 2015 semester, now with a great new band Stella Nova and new music under his belt he has released his debut studio single Old School Radio, Ellerbee wrote and produced and played all instruments on this single.

With a full album complete with Marvel cinematic inspired graphics at the ready, Dominic is need of assistance to make this next step a reality in musical story telling.
Check out Dominic’s Kickstarter campaign and help us support great talent...his music should be heard. With now only 31 days to go - you can donate directly and make the difference.
“sublimely talented, a voice waiting to be heard”

Chicago songwriter Lara Filip drops new album “Stop Time”.

Chicago singer-songwriter Lara Filip stepped out from behind the short-lived moniker “Birdie Wing” to release her debut album Stop Time.
Stop Time, which was produced by Grammy-nominee Liam Davis, references 70’s Laurel Canyon folk rock and polished piano pop as it explores not only Filip’s personal triumph over breast cancer but universal themes like emotional/geographical distance, the preciousness of life and the power of love.
Filip is one of those artists that you hear about only every so often, super strong vocal ability coupled with pure emotive songwriting has endeared us to her. From the outset the album is stunning with the lead song The Other Side, the rise and fall between tracks on this album has you wondering what is around the corner. Other stand outs for us on the this 10 tracker are, in no particular order - Jericho Road, Knock It Down, Mountain Song and the gorgeous duet Satellites with Adam Michaels.
“Stop Time in one word is - extraordinary!”

TOBiAS releases new single and MV for single “Just A Boy”... new LP “Alive” drops Nov 4.

Just A Boy is the second single from acoustic folk / country artist Tobias.
The track follows on from single Live Your Life, and is taken from his second album Alive, which will be released on Friday 4th November.
Tobias was seven when his family moved from Victoria to the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It was an idyllic childhood, but as he moved into teenage years his mother Julie was diagnosed with Cancer. She died when he was just 14. Just A Boy is a concise, clear snapshot of childhood brought on by the arrival of spring, fishing on the river in the sun with dad, sitting by the fire with his brothers, and his mother’s warm smile. The song draws its power from an unforgettable melody, crystal clear imagery and its understatement.
Produced and directed by Henry Glover (Henry Glover Films), the powerful video for Just a Boy was filmed at The Barn - Hill House in Eerwah Vale, QLD, and includes old footage of Tobias' mother Julie and father Ken, as well as Ken with his sons as grown men today.
“Losing your mum has such a huge, long-lasting impact on you. Of course it’s such an emotional song to sing and the video has been really powerful for the family, but it’s not just my story. Everyone has these memories of their childhood and the song taps into those emotions we all have but maybe never talk about them”.

“a song that will touch you deeply, powerful and emotive...there is nothing like a mother’s love”
Just a Boy follows last year's self-titled debut album, where Tobias explored some of his passion for folk music and Australian history. Recorded at A Pocket Full of Stones studio in Point Lonsdale (Port Phillip Bay) and co-produced by Nick Huggins, Tobias’ second studio album Alive is more personal - "Alive sums it up in a word, alive as a songwriter, alive to these experiences, feeling the grief and then finally feeling that things are going to work out. It can take courage to get up there and share so much of yourself in your stories and your songs but it's what I should be doing.''
