AT LONG LAST! Gosh ref sheets are such a slog, especially at the end, but can't argue with the results. I now also have a good template that should make finishing these easier in the future!

Her key is still a thing I just am struggle bussing about what the cuff should look like. Still like the idea of it being a hand that pulls her through but I don't want the design to clash too much? I could spend another 6 months workshopping this so in the meantime I am just leaving it out for now.

I have a magic system that explains other magic systems.

The metaphor I like to use is that energies are a voice and acts of casting magic (incantations, rituals, sigils, etc) are a language. Essentially magic is the act of communication to manipulate the world around you. Different worlds and realms and the cultures that shape them have their own magic systems that most likely took thousands of years to establish an understanding between the casters and the energy forces that exist there.

What Baph teaches is not a form of magic that heavily relies on outside forces. Everyone has a inner door deep, deep within them that is very difficult to open. To fully pass through it would be what ascending is. Full ascension for seedling souls is not possible for anyone right now, but to become a daemon is to crack that door open, just enough. A peek into your own infinite and your own source of power flowing through that crack in the door. And what is the language to communicate with that voice? To know thyself.

Magic System Lore:

Magic circles are pretty common practice but a special technique that Baph does and passes down to their students (and thus passed down to their own students) is magic shapes. Utilizing the 3rd dimension. This allows for more powerful and complex spells.

This is just a quick paint sketch of what they might look like. I think once I finally finalize my magic writing cipher I'll try for more polish ones.

4th dimensional (and higher) spells can show up too like in the forms of tesseracts and hyperspheres. Or even just weirdly pulsating blobs. The draw back is that they can't be fully interact with or cast in the 3rd dimensional unless you can figure out a way to rotate them in higher dimensional space.

I knew I didn't want to change much with Gixx. One of those rare designs that never needed a lot of reworking.

The one thing I wanted to do was make their horns flow more into their helmet. The original idea was to make them look like exhaust pipes but I thought the rounded ends felt too in contrast with the rest of the shapes. Hopefully they still read somewhat like that intention.

I mentioned a few times on stream that the theme that centers all members of the Alumni is suffering and then working hard to rise above that suffering. You get a hint of what Gixx has gone through with the scars on their body.

Happy Easter everyone! Here is a character design I finished that is PERFECT for the holiday! Just not this one…whoops. When I finished with Ms. Pie's pre ref I decided to knock out Rudy's as well.

Chronic people pleaser. Muscle mass developed from years of insisting on helping people out with heavy lifting. Rudy allows himself to be easily taken advantage of because he believes it is the best way to prevent people from making fun of him and discluding him.

Bit off season but I really wanted to nail her design down finally and sometimes you gotta go with where the inspiration leads!

She also doesn't have an official bonded partner yet. Maybe someone who is more spring/summer themed? Forcing these things never work for me creatively wise.

My ultimate goal for the Alumni is a found family diverse group of some of the most eccentric weirdos (wyrdos) who just also happen to be some of the most power magic users in the multiverse. Different species and backgrounds with a common theme of suffering and the work it takes to rise above it.

Humble underdog origins that evolve to reach cosmic heights with no signs of stopping.

A bit less satisfied with him but it's a good start! This guy is based off my Sea of Thieves pirate! Only clothes I really liked happened to be green even though green isn't my fav color. It IS my birthstone though so I warmed up to it and went full emerald. You could say he is a beryl of laughs!

He doesn't have an official bonded partner yet. It's frustrating because I can't go full deep dive into his story without one. Here is some of what I do have!

He is 9'6" and the former head officer of the Amazon army. He tried to leave for a very specific reason but nobody leaves the Amazons without a fight and while he managed to survive (with the help of one of his sisters) he paid a very heavy price for it. As well as his sister being caught and being put on the execution list.

His meeting and time with Baph is a work in progress but he demanded Baph teach him mostly out of desperation to save his family.

Which eventually DID happen and currently his older sister, Aquamarina, younger sister, Safira, and his Mama Pel are all part of his crew now.

His prosthetics are conduits and the stone can shapeshift into a various things including weapons, robotic like hands, or other tools. He is partial to hookshots and swinging around swords on the end of chains.

I finished the pre-ref of a bonded pair of Alumni!

Still working on some specifics of their story but I have really enjoyed the process so far.

Also bonded pair doesn't have any romantic connotation. Their relationship surpasses what we would call a friendship though? Bonded pair was meant to be a temporary term until I could come up with something better but so far I haven't found anything that fits!

Happy April Fools! Doing something different this year by totally pranking my friend Jen with gift art! GET WRECKED JEN!!! HAHAHA!

Some context: Late last month Jen lost her entire library of digital art she’s done over the years when her drive died. Something that would be devastating for anyone. A couple weeks ago I asked some of our mutual friends if they would join me in pranking the pants off her with gift art!

It went really well and we all had a lot of fun! Have a great day everyone and REMEMBER the best pranks are the ones that can be enjoyed by everyone!

I already used a few of these so it's nice to have a few more to add. There isn't a doubt in my mind that the internet will even be more at risk but it's good to protect yourself regardless.

Was talking to a friend and he did mentioned that password managers are still iffy and you are better off manually keeping your own passwords. If that gets compromised or you loose that one password then everything is fucked.

Also just use whatever VPN you trust the most. Do your own research on policies and keep track of their service. For general privacy, any VPN will be fine. If laws get changed later, well then that's another story.

Sometime ago during a stream, it was ask if Baph was just a meanie. I wanted to make it clear that they aren’t needlessly cruel. Something that I want to add now is that they certainly can be needFULLY cruel though. It’s all about perspective with a bigger picture in mind.
