Wow, that would be confusing with all the timelines and relations. When I think of a GoT-esque version of these books it just brings me back to my constant yearning for a much, much longer version of Song of the Lioness. Like, 40-hour audio book for each book in the series, hefty tomes. I just want more! I want the rivalry and fight with Ralon to take CHAPTERS AND CHAPTERS. I want the journey to the Roof of the World to fill at least a week's worth of reading sessions (though honestly the parts with Liam can stay the length that they are - my current reread has reminded me how much I don't like him).
I saw someone suggesting that they might try to “combine” all of the 22 Tortall novels into one large story with multiple main characters a la Game of Thrones and oh my GOD was that a terrifying prospect I hope never comes to life!
I mean, for one, the only ones that would really WORK in that respect would be Alanna and Daine, whose stories aren’t super connected. But Kel’s whole story only exists because of Alanna and Aly is Alanna’s DAUGHTER. Not to mention Beka who is a distant ancestor of Aly’s and who lived during a time in which Alanna’s whole storyline never would have happened. It just wouldn’t make SENSE.
I’ve always seen the Tortall series best done as a series of miniseries. One show, but every season switches main characters. You could do like 10-12 1-hour episodes for each character, easy. So then each book gets about 3 episodes to do it justice and that’s about 2.5-3 hours which is like a really long film’s worth for a short 200-300 page book. Not too difficult, with the right writer/director. And as you get into Aly’s duology, that’s more like 5-6 hours for each 400-500 page book or 3-4 hours for Beka’s trilogy of longer books.
This leaves each character time to develop on their own but also allows the characters the ability to connect and flow into each other in a way a film series wouldn’t.

tonguebreaks-archive replied to your post “Oh great, we’ve got TERFs in the Tamora Pierce fandom apparently. …”
She’s an aggressively straight woman but she didn’t want to be a lady so I guess she’s queer and gender fluid now
She had sex with men, sure, but gender and sexuality are not the same thing.
Being LGBT is about both, so if Alanna is genderfluid, it doesn’t mean she’s automatically also lesbian or bi/pan. They are mutually exclusive things.
And we’re not getting this out of nowhere, Tamora Pierce is learning about these terms that are becoming more commonplace now to describe different ways of identifying gender and sexuality and looking back at how she wrote her characters and saying that while she didn’t INTEND to write her characters in such a way or know what the terms might have been for them, that the characters would fall into these categories if she wrote them today with the knowledge she now has.
So someone brought up Alanna being potentially genderfluid to Tamora Pierce due to some of the things she thinks about herself and about being a woman throughout her series and Tamora Pierce came back with the response that while she may not have written Alanna as genderfluid intentionally or known what genderfluid even WAS, that she could certainly be described that way.
Like this isn’t just a headcanon, Tamora herself agrees with us.
So yeah, she’s gender fluid now.
Alanna the Lioness is a queer genderfluid icon.
Die mad about it.

harry: good at code documentation, describes even the wildest modifications to voyager in a way that makes them seem reasonable and easy to understand
b’elanna: has her own unique method for code documentation, takes a while to get used to but it works. a lot of swearing
seven: absolutely under no circumstances documents her code. if you don’t get it that’s a skill issue

I think the main difference between Alanna of Trebond and Keladry of Mindelan on their journeys to being female knights was that -
Alanna said, I'll beat them at their own game.
But Kel said, I refuse to play by their rules.
And both were totally valid and successful.

Dawn, listen to me. Listen… I love you. I will always love you. But this is the work that I have to do… Tell Giles that… tell Giles I figured it out, and, and I'm okay… And give my love to my friends. You have to take care of them now. You have to take care of each other. You have to be strong. Dawn, the hardest thing in this world… is to live in it… Be brave. Live. For me.
