So, as it is my New Year’s Resolution to spread positivity and joy, I thought I’d do what I’m best at : ) Call-Out Posts! I’ve genuinely never been involved in such a loving community where I’ve made so many friends. In honor of everyone who has supported, I’m just going to show y’all how much I love you.

AndroidR wants to hold Connor’s hand when the go out places because they don’t want him to get lost and he’s like “ugh fine ok but only because I like you or whatever”

His hand is unable to regulate temperature. You don’t understand why you look at his hands so much, but you do, and the scans offer feedback. He has terrible circulation, anxiety-bitten nails, traces of cigarette smoke.

“May I hold your hand?”

He doesn’t cease walking. Instead, rolls his eyes and glares your way. “Why?”

“So you don’t get lost in the crowd.”

“I’m not a child.”

You frown, offering your best puppy dog eyes.

With a slump-shouldered sigh, he holds out a hand, heart racing when you eagerly take it.

“I’m only doing this because I kind of like you. I guess.”

The temperature of his fingers match that of your own skin, his thumb softly gliding over your knuckles.

Intimacy, yet not. Nice. Warm. Not his hand. Your circuits. Circuits?

He catches you smiling, the act uncontrollable and insistent.

The warm air you exhaled swirled and billowed above you, a grey colour that blended in with the cloudy, snowy skies of Detroit. The snowflakes drifted down, melting against the fabric of your trenchcoat and landing softly on your cheeks. 

One landed against the metal of your watch, and you squinted your eye, to look just a bit closer at it. You couldn’t make out every branch, every glint from the sun and much less every molecule, but you could see the general shape rather than a fuzzy blur. 

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” you spoke gently, the breath releasing itself once again.

Universe: Detroit: Become Human

Pairing: Connor x Reader

Summary: While waiting in line for your movie, you take the liberty of enlightening Connor with your extensive knowledge of films.

“And then Obi Wan chops off his legs!” you exclaim, too immersed in your own story to see Connor’s slight smile.

“Really?” he asks despite the fact he knows exactly what happens in Revenge of the Sith. He looks down at you as you rant, completely unbothered by the fact that you’re waiting in line to be seated in the movie theatre.

“I know, right?” You shake your head and dramatically slump against the wall, letting out a swooning sigh. “Anakin deserved better.”

From beside you, Hank grumbles as he looks over his shoulder. “Geez, kid,” he says, “could you keep it down a bit? Gonna tell the whole damn place.”

You retort with an undertone of snark, “Well, excuse me for being passionate about something.”

Conor folds his hands behind his back and blinks for a few moments, processing everything you’ve just told him. From your mouth, it’s like he’s watching the movie himself instead of seeing it in milliseconds from behind his optical units. The way you describe things, not just your passions but anything really, gives it a certain life that others can’t. It makes him feel alive.

It’s been but three months since the android revolution, and two and a half since the AIs have been given equal rights. There are even more protests, of course, but no longer do humans have the courage to lay their hands on the robots. No, how could they, with the knowledge the androids can defend themselves nowadays. They’re not mindless servants anymore.

“So what’s your favorite Star Wars film, Y/N?” Connor asks curiously. “There are several of them and the computer-generated animation has only gotten better throughout the years.”

Your brow furrows and you shrug your shoulders after a long minute. “I don’t know,” you say and throw out your hands. “They’re all so good, it’s like asking me to pick a favorite child!” You’re still, then stand on your tiptoes and whisper into the android’s ear. “But if I had to pick one… probably Attack of the Clones.”

Connor grins and nods his head. “I see.” He makes a mental note to make sure there’s a time in the near future just you and he can watch it together.

“Looks like we’re goin’ in,” says Hank, drawing your attention to the now-open theatre doors. You bound forward into the rows of seats, causing both Connor and the old man to smile. “Jesus, kid, calm down. We’re all gonna get a seat.”

Connor follows you to the three spots you’ve picked (after much debate) and takes a seat next to you. He glances over from the corner of his eye and notices the gleam in your eye, the way your smile crinkles your nose a bit. A warm feeling enters his stomach and he smirks slightly. Besides Hank, you are the only person who could make him feel so alive.

“Hey, Connor?” you ask, playing with the cup holder of the seat.

The android turns to face you and gives a small smile that’s full of an emotion you can’t quite pinpoint. “Listen, I just… wanted to say thanks for letting me rant to you. I know it’s kinda stupid, but it really means a lot to me.”

Connor’s smile is wiped away and he tilts his head. “Of course it’s not stupid,” he says immediately. “I wish you didn’t think that. I quite enjoy listening to you talk about anything, really.”

Intense relief floods your systems and you let out a giggle, feeling your face heat up. You’ve known Connor for some time now, even from before the revolution, and you’ve always thought he was cute. And now that he experiences feelings as well? You can’t say if that makes you glad or stressed.

At that moment, the lights of the theatre dim and the screen lights up, getting ready to begin playing the previews. The talk from other patrons around you seizes and you sigh deeply. You’ve waited two years for the next Star Wars film, and at last you’re finally going to see it. And, you’re seeing it with your two favorite people.

In the dark, you slip your hand into Connor’s and lace your fingers with his. He glances down for a long moment before looking back up to the screen. You feel him gently enclose his fingers and like that, you’re at last holding hands. You thought it would never happen. Your palms press together and fit like two puzzle pieces after the long search through the box of hundreds of other wrong ones.

But this, you are certain of. You’ve found your perfect fit.

Your first sign of deviancy: an interest in music.

Connor owns an eclectic library that he listens to quite loudly in the car. Never sings along or blurts out the words, as violent as you find them. You wonder if, as is the case for many other humans, he relates to the lyrics. Sees a bit of himself in them.

After returning to the station, you find yourself humming a song under your breath. More delicate than his usual taste, but beautiful nonetheless.

All attempts to force the inevitable down into an impenetrable box of untouchables prove… unsuccessful. As if the thought has already embedded itself into your systems. Like a virus. You can’t shake it off.
