And ALSO I want to link some of stitchmedia's 'What Fandom Racism Looks Like' articles that do a great job breaking down wider racist fandom dynamics and how they manifest.
Beige Blank Slates is an article that breaks down the fandom bias for white men in their supposed 'blank slates'; how white male characters are seen as 'neutral' in a way that characters of colour or even just white women aren't. Even though this article deals with characters who actually have a good deal more personality than Link, this is mandatory reading for Link fans as far as I'm concerned.
Migratory Slash Fandom's Focus is an article breaking down the racist white focus of the roving dudeslash fandom, a subsection of fans who move from fandom to fandom finding similar m/m dynamics to ship. Less relevant to the LOZ fandom specifically due to the general lack of two attractive white guys to ship, but very relevant for most other fandom spaces.
No Safe Space/"Curate Your Space" is an article breaking down why the often-repeated 'curate your own space' advice does not work when dealing with fandom racism, because you cannot curate your way out of racist harassment and seeing racist fics/content in fandom, and how fucked up it is to expect fans of colour to just put up with racism in ways that (for example) queer fans are not expected to put up with homophobia.
White Silence/Violence is an article breaking down white complicity in fandom racism, and how the refusal of white people to speak up about racism (even when we damn well know it's happening) is a form of violence in itself.
The (Un)magic of Intent is an article about intent vs impact when it comes to racist fandom works, and how usually it was not people's intent to be racist, but that this does not erase their impact; that people have to get better at both critiquing and taking criticism of racism in fanworks.
The Problem with Preferences is an article breaking down how personal preferences do not exist in a vacuum and are influenced by wider racist biases, and how fandom's prioritization of personal preference above all else and its refusal to engage with criticism leads to racist 'preferences' being considered as more important than Black fans and other fans of colour.

I'm not a prayin' man, but the night I found out my at-the-time-fiancé had been sending sex horny nasty horny sex asks to my friend on THIS VERY WEBSITE, I sat in the car in the parking lot of an abandoned church and watched a family of deer play in the snow, and it didn't quite feel like a sign because that part of Pennsylvania was mostly deer and abandoned buildings and snow, but it felt nice, and once the tears stopped, I looked down at my phone and my other friend had sent me a text that said, "HE'S TRYING TO CHEAT ON YOU ON THE ONE DIRECTION IMAGINES WEBSITE?" and I realized that life is all about your curated experience. A real choose-your-own-adventure deal. I have never seen someone post about One Direction on here in my life.

Literally cannot emphasize enough that my #1 writing advice is to stop being afraid. Stop being afraid of sounding too cringe, or too stupid, or too horrifying, or too horny, or too weird, or too much, or too little, or too you. You need to put your entire pussy into your art. Sure, it won't be to everyone's tastes, but if you keep yourself to the blandest tamest safest roads possible you will be of no one's tastes, not even yours.

My Chemical Romance playing the same Chicago venue the day after the Oasis reunion show is so funny to me. Like, you know at least one of them will be in attendance at that one.

every time someone is asked to describe what they consider to be positive masculinity (hardworking, protective, whatever) they are at a loss when the follow up question is "okay but what makes these positive characteristic masculine? women have them too"... it's almost as if it's all patriarchal bullshit lol
