Eywa’s Rage
Summery: Being the child of two of the strongest warriors of the Omatikaya clan who also protects the Sully’s, things were happy. Until it was all ripped away
——————————————————————————
The forest was my first love.
The green during the day and how it glows at night with every step I take, with everything that I touch glows. It was my home.
My mother tells me when I was born a woodsprite had landed between my eyes and above my heart. Mother had said Ewya has blessed me with the mind and heart of a warrior. Just like them.
——————————————————————————
“Oh great mother give me strength” A Na’vi woman was pacing back and forth rubbing her temples.
“Where is my daughter?”
Neytiri walked up to the woman landing her hand on her shoulder gently. (Y/n) was always curious about the world around her and sometimes—all the time— lost track of time.
“You know (y/n), she has you and her father’s spirit, always out there helping”
Always while out in the forest (y/n) would always grab something that would help the village, either it be food, plants, herbs, beads, or wood. She always had something.
(Y/n) reminded Jake of a crow, back on Earth crows always had little trinkets for trade or just for show, she was intelligent, observant, good memory, and usually curious. Curious about a raid, the forest, a new fighting technique, curious about everything really.
“I’ll go and help find her, (f/n) has been out there for awhile—“ Jake stood up putting his knife in his holder before being interrupted.
“I can help” A young boy stood up but was quickly rejected
“No Neteyam, you stay with (m/n) and your mother and siblings, I won’t be long I’m sure (y/n) and (f/n) are almost back”
Footsteps were heard outside of the tent, Jake was right. (Y/n) and her father (f/n) were walking into the tent with a basket of fish and a bow strapped to their back.
“ We got fish!” (Y/n) held a basket full of fish, she had to use both of her arms to lift the basket up without dropping it. She had a bright smile that made young Neteyam giggle.
(M/n) turned her head to her mate when she heard “we” he shrugged his shoulder in defeat, he could never say no to his daughter, that was one of his greatest weaknesses. She just sighed and kneeled down to the floor to hug her daughter.
That made Jake and Neytiri smirk, (f/n) was a tough man, one of the strongest and most respected warriors of the Omatikaya clan, the man who could never say no to his daughter, the man who couldn’t stand seeing his daughter with an upset face. (Y/n) who has her father wrapped around her finger just like her mother.
“Ma (y/n) you had me worried, you can’t go off for that long without telling anyone, you shouldn’t even be out there alone” she stroked her daughters hair moving her short braided hair out of her face.
“I’m sorry mother, but we have fish!”
“I can see that” (m/n) smiled at her daughter’s enthusiasm. (F/n) had grabbed the basket out of her daughters hand gently.
“Sully’s why don’t you stay with us for dinner (y/n) and I grabbed too many fish for just the three of us.”
“Of course”
Times were good, things were happy.
" Neteyam! We shouldn't be so far out you know?" (Y/n) Groaned loudly, last time she was out farther than she was aloud, she got grounded.
"I know I know but I have something to show you!" Young Neteyam held onto (Y/n)'s wrist gently guiding her through the path.
He led her to the spirit tree, it glowed slightly, since there was still daylight. " The spirit tree?" Neteyam shook his head no.
He went up to the spirit tree squatting in front of the tree picking up something. She heard clacking sounds from him picking it up. He turned around with what ever was is in hand was still hidden. (Y/n) tilted her head slightly , an ear bent with a confused expression on her face. Neteyam giggled walking up to her.
"We never get to go out and play as much especially with my siblings and your training, soooo I thought we could just hang out today, just the two of us?"
(Y/n) giggled at that. "Of course i'll hang out with you skxawng, you don't need to ask" they both laughed. "What is that behind your back?" Neteyam showed his hands to show a necklace that was made of thread, crystals, and beads.
"I made it for you, I found and made some of the beads, they reminded me of you." Neteyams ears went slightly down from his confession, handing his hand out slowly to give it to her. She took it from his hand gently holding the thread that was full of beads and crystals. "My mother helped me a little, she said she thought you would like it."
Though only silence was heard, he looked up to see (Y/n) holding the threaded necklace, admiring it and caressing each bead and crystal. "Its beautiful Neteyam, thank you" She smiled sweetly at him. That made his heart swoon. His stomach full of butterflies. His eyes slightly dilated. His heart to beat faster and louder. He sighed in relief.
"Help me put it on?" And he did. They talked and talked till they both fell asleep. it wasn't even eclipse yet. But the comfort of both hearing each others voices, laughs, hearts and memories soothed them to sleep under the watch of Ewya. The lights seemed to glow with the hearing of their laughter and their calm.
" Neteyam! ugh that boy, I swear." Neytiri walked through the forest looking for her son knowing he went out to fetch (Y/n) to lay in the forest, but she couldn't seem to find where they went off to. Jake also joined as well, slightly worried for both of the children since it was almost eclipse.
Yelling out both of their names, they finally decided to check if they had went to the spirit tree. With Neytiri up ahead she went through the trees to finally see the spirit tree, Jake followed with her ready to scold his son for being put late, and wanting to see him okay. Neytiri sighed in relief with the sight of the two children sleeping soundly under the tree. She saw the necklace she had helped with Neteyam on around (Y/n)'s neck, She smiled at the sight of the gift and at their sleeping figures that cuddled up next to each other.
Jake scoffed with amusement. They have both been close even before birth, both women, Neytiri and (Y/n)'s mom, were close in pregnancy. Both children when close to full development were they the most active, with moving and kicking inside of their mothers when in close proximity.
Neytiri stopped mid step making Jake confused. He laid his hand on her shoulder asking what was wrong, but then he followed her eyes.
Woodsprites landed on (Y/n) and then Neteyam, many followed soon after, gathering and laying on top of the sleeping children, covering them in glow. They laid still for a moment, some hovering. Slowly they started to float back into the air again, some still floated in the air not moving as if it didn't want to leave. they all left but one, hovering between the two children.
Neytiri smiled in adoration between the two children. Wit how close the two children were she wasn't surprised that her son started to be slightly flustered around (Y/n) even though she thought of it as a slight crush between his only friend that was a girl. But this just confirmed her thoughts.
They both took the sleeping children in their arms taking them back to the village, the woodsprite followed for a short time and then flew away. Jake and Neytiri smiled at each other, being blessed to witness Ewya's affection to the small children. Jake didn't need the feel to wake his son up after seeing the woodpsrites after that.
Things were good. Things were perfect. Until they weren't.
Their was only silence between the whole raid party on their way back home. Two Ikrans whined and cried with no riders. Neytiri held a heavy guilt in her chest, carrying a bow in her hand. though it was not hers, it was her dear friends bow. Her friend that did not make it through the raid neither did her mate. Their had been an error to the Na'vis' raid plan, causing more destruction to their team than the sky people. Neytiri looked at jake right beside her looking at him with teary eyes. jake also held the look of guilt. But both were worried about the same thing. How to tell their friends one and only child they had left back at home.
Their first sons best friend, first friend, the child the called apart of their family. (Y/n).
"Come on the war party is back!" Kiri yelled out of her grandmothers tent with the toddler Tuk on her hip, telling the rest of her siblings and (Y/n) of the announce. All the children and adults gathered near the edge of the cave waiting to see their loved ones. Ikrans started to land on the edge, Na'vi hoping off their ikran collecting the weapons from the raid, some passed (Y/n) with a look of pity, though (Y/n) did not notice, to excited to see her parents to tell her the story of their raid.
Though they never showed. Jake and Neytiri greeted their children gently, before bringing their attention to (Y/n). Jake held out his hand placing it on (Y/n)'s shoulder gently, comforting her. he kneeled down to his knee to reach her face to face. Though she still looked around his head to see if she could find her parents. A child eager to feel her parents warmth around her.
"(Y/n).-" Jake sighed, he knew their would be losses in raids, he's done this before with other families but never to a child. Never to such a child with innocence. he didn't know what to say. this was the first time were he was left clueless with his words. (Y/n) was still waiting for him to talk. Her head tilted to the side with an ear bent in confusion.
Then she saw the look in his eyes. Pity.
She frowned slightly not understanding why he looked so sad. So guilty. Why he had pity in his eyes. Why he had pity in the hand that he rubbed her shoulder gently with. She looked at Neytiri seeing her hugging her children, but looking at her with pity. Pity.
She looked in Neytiri's hand to see her parents bow. A bow both of her parents crafted with each other. (Y/n) got worried. Her mother never let anyone hold that bow, never. Were they injured?
She then looked at the edge of the cave seeing two ikrans comforting each other, ikrans that cried together. they were her parents Ikrans, with no riders. She looked back at the bow. She looked around seeing Na'vi look at the interaction between her and the oleyektan. They all looked at her with pity. Pity.
She turned her head to the place were she didn't want to look. other Na'vi warriors were holding two giant leaves, those leaves were used to retrieve other Na'vi who were very injured or dead. Even though she couldn't see the bodies, she knew. And her heart shattered. She walked out of Jakes touch and faced her body to her parents covered bodies.
Tears filled her eyes. Then came sobs. Hard sobs that echoed throughout the silence of their home. Greif came to everyone with the child sobs. Neteyam walked up slowly to (Y/n) hugging her letting her fall to her knees, sobbing into her friends neck. The child's tears and sobs brought everyone to sadness.
Than it began to rain.
Ewya grieved with them.
A ceremony was held that night, with the burial of her parents, they held another special ceremony, since both (Y/n)'s parents were one of the strongest and well respected warriors of the clan.
In front of the spirit tree and all Na'vi sitting surrounding the tree. Jake and Mo'at were standing to the side with (Y/n) in the center with the bow Neytiri kept protected all the way from the raid. (Y/n) cried for a couple hours. Then there were no tears left. None.
Neytiri sat in the front row holding her children beside her giving them comfort.
Jake came forward with an arrow in hand giving it to (Y/n).
"To let the spirit of (F/n) the strong warrior of mind be set to a peaceful going, to be guided to a new life we hope to be apart of will be passed on, by his first and only child."
(Y/n) with her eyes slightly swollen from the crying drew the arrow back with perfect form. Jake had set the already set arrow on fire, she drew back and fired, the arrow released. Jake stepped down.
The Mo'at stepped up with another arrow.
"To let the spirit of (M/n) the strong warrior of heart, be set to a peaceful ongoing, to be guided to a new life we hope to see will be passed on, by her first and only child."
(Y/n) repeated what she did, held posture, drew her arrow back that was set flamed and released. She was about to step down from her standing though Mo'at's voice rang again going up to her with another arrow.
That made (Y/n) confused seeing as how it was only her parents that had passed that were related to her. Each arrow for a lost one.
"To let the spirit of the unborn life of (M/n) be given again in another life, to be given a chance of being set free and pure again, by their only sibling"
She was left staring in shock at Mo'at. Her mother was pregnant while in the raid. And she didn't know. Her mother had a hard time getting pregnant, she always wanted to have a sibling, admiring the Sully's siblings bond with each other, something she wanted. But now can't have. Ripped from her grasp.
Her heart felt as if it was no longer there. she wasn't sad. She was scared. she felt numb. Everything of her family was gone. She had no family now. Neytiri was in shock as well and so was jake, neither of them knew.
As if on command she took the arrow from Mo'at and got into her position. The arrow set ablaze. released. The ceremony wasn't done yet. (Y/n) turned around placing the bow on her back, she walked to her ikran that was in between both of her parent ikran.
Hoping on her ikran making the bond between the two to set a fly. To represent moving on and to celebrate the spirit with the lost ones. Though (Y/n) did not cry any more, she didn't feel numb. Soaring above the nights sky, She felt angry. heart bound, and breath heavy.
The stars across her face glowed even brighter, flying harder and faster. Rage was all she felt. But not just rage of guilt or grief. the rage to take out an entire clan. To rid of Pandora of sky people. Rage was all she felt through her body. rage she has never felt before. Lighting and thunder grew in the distance. She felt a connection through the air in the clouds. Pure rage.
Ewya's rage.
