How Do You Define Your Success?
When I first sat down to write this I was clueless about what to say, but I come up thinking of Churchill once said, “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm” which actually reflects my milestone, our milestone. I can describe it as a bitter-sweet journey in school. Our lives isn’t all about happiness and joy, we stumble and fall yet we get up and go back in track again. In every failure we had, we learned something that is worth to be engraved in our hearts and minds till the end. Meaning every time we fail, every time we manage to get up, every time we learn and apply it to us then that is already success.
Nagsimula ako sa negatibong “I won’t do it. I can’t do it. hanggang sa dumating ang puntong nabago ng, "I want to do it. How will I do it? I’ll try to do it. I will do it. Yes! I did it”. I learned to boost my confidence and self-esteem. In man's life, there's no such thing as shortcut except for dirty things and choosing the golden stairway instead of steep and stony road. Amidst in the cross road, confusion strikes and afterwards you step into the reality of life. When you choose the path where your heart desires, a bumpy road and stormy days nor no assurance what's in the end of it just like a tunnel without light, be an unstoppable train and fire up the rail way until you reach the final destination of your quest and that is success.
“I am intelligent. I am brave. I am brilliant and I am capable that is why I am here”. Sleepless nights, stress, happiness, disappointments and other circumstances through out our journey. All our hardships for 6 long years have been paid off. Suot na natin ang isa mga “one of the #Dabest ootds. We can all now say that this tassel is worth the hassel. Makakamit na natin ang pinaka inaasam-asam na mahawakan, ang diploma.

Now, we all got our diplomas. Does this make us successful? Some of us received medals for showing excellence. I myself received numerous medals and certificates. Do these make me successful? Nah! We should beg to disagree. Success isn’t measured by high grades, high IQ, countless medals, certificates, or recognition. Success isn't all about "mas mataas ang rank ko kaysa sa kanya or mas maganda ang tabaho ko sakanya". These awards are just bonus of what we have worked for.Just like what they say "No student ever attains very eminent success by simply doing what is required of him, it is the amount and excellence of what is over and above the required that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction." Success comes out naturally if you’re doing things genuinely. Naalala ko po ang sinabi ng isa sa aking mga naging guro, Sir Marcelo, wherein he wrote K.S.A. (Knowledge, skills, and attitude) and said that it is our knowledge and skills that can get us a job but still at the end of the day it is our attitude towards others, towards life that matters.Success is about learning in ups and downs. Success is about doing your best. Success is about survival. OUR success is about the experiences we shared, the moments we cherished, the pains and sufferings we felt, staying firm and positive regardless of the negativities hurled on us, changing and growing to be a good person. "Striving to be good is the ultimate struggle of man. Being bad is easy but being good requires sincere commitment, discipline and strength. We have to work hard everyday to be good". SUCCESS is ALL about the things we managed to surpass, our humble and immeasurable efforts, diligence, discipline, hardwork, sacrifices, all the things we learned behind these diplomas, medals and recognitions. Our parents, our family rather would really be most proud if we if we've absorbed all their paalalas, payos, and pagalit. Let us all remember all the machine gun 'ratrats' of our Nanay and Teachers. Sabi nga nila "Bago mo pa maranasan, napagdaanan na namin" kaya dapat makinig din tayo sakanila. Makinig tayo still dapat din natin timbangin kung anong desisyon natin.
We are all successful in our own ways, in our own authentic ways. We all believed we could, so we did! Let us remind ourselves that we are BRAVER than we believe, STRONGER than it seems, SMARTER than we think and LOVED more than we know. Let us not be afraid to take risks in life. NEVER let anybody tell you, you can't because WE ALL CAN. Let's all turn can'ts into cans and dreams into plans and goals.
Graduates, buckle your seat belts 'cuz we're not signing off, we're just about to take off. SOAR HIGH!
