LESSON #3: EXPLORE. Today I took a road trip and went to see the African Penguins. YOU HEARD ME RIGHT! There are penguins in Africa that live on hot, sandy beaches in the tropical climate. I was stunned the entire time because -OMG- I never knew they existed and I was fascinated and in pure awe the entire time. That's the amazing part about exploring: it opens your heart, mind, and soul, fulfilling the spirit & often leaving you at a loss for words. Go somewhere you've never been. Be adventurous. Do something that scares you. This is a great way to heal, grow in wisdom, and find your path in life. Know go ahead, and be a kickass explorer! #holistichealing #penguin #africa #nature #beach #mothernature #AmberTheActivist #paintopower #AmberAmour #travel #StopRapeEducate #health #humanitarian #mindfulness #namaste #loveandlight #explore #blackadventuristas #joy #HealingWithAmber (at Boulder Beach)

Welcome to #HealingWithAmber, the brand new series by @stoprapeeducate! I'm going to show you my journey to healing and how to turn your pain into power! LESSON #2: CONNECT WITH MOTHER NATURE. It's a well known fact that Earth is full of healing properties! Be sure to spend as much time in nature as possible. Fresh air regenerates the entire body & being. Use mindful breathing to truly connect with Mother Nature. To start, sit outdoors on the ground/grass. Sitting on the ground is very important because the Earth will absorb any energy that you need to release and it will replenish & energize you. This is the best way to unblock your root chakra which we will talk about later. With each deep inhalation you take, imagine your lungs fill with love, peace, and joy. With each exhalation, release any and all negative feelings you're having. Practice for 5-10 minutes and be sure to keep a clear mind- focus only on your breath. Do this daily or in times of extreme anxiety/stress. - Photo taken today at Cape Point, the southern most tip of the African Continent. #holistichealing #nature #gaia #mothernature #AmberTheActivist #paintopower #AmberAmour #travel #StopRapeEducate #health #humanitarian #mindfulness #namaste #loveandlight (at Cape Town, South Africa)

Welcome to #HealingWithAmber 🙏 This is a brand new series by @stoprapeeducate that kicks off today! I'm going to show you my journey to healing after getting raped last Saturday and how to turn your pain into power! LESSON #1: RECLAIM YOUR BODY. When you were sexually assaulted, your attacker took control of your body. It's time for you to take back that control. You can reclaim your body in a variety of ways. My personal favorite is yoga. Yoga is fun, easy, and can be done anywhere at any time! I was introduced to yoga 5 years ago but started doing it regularly 3 months ago. Yoga reduces stress, depression, and anxiety, while simultaneously strengthening the mind, body, and spirit. 20 minutes a day can work wonders in your life. I feel stronger, happier, and more confident inside & outside already! You can also reclaim your body with exercise, sports, modeling, dance, and by having healthy sexual contact. Do what you love and do it everyday. #yoga #yogaeverydamnday #yogaeverywhere #yogi #namate #reclaimyourbody #survivor #mentalhealth #health #StopRapeEducate #paintopower #AmberTheActivist #AmberAmour (at Cape Town, South Africa)

Nailed it!!! A shower is not consent to sex, sleeping in the bed with a friend is not an invitation to sex. Nothing is an invitation to sex besides, "Hey, do you wanna have sex with me?" IT'S THAT BASIC. Thank you @_gingerbreadgirl87 I teach you guys all the time about how nudity does not equate to sex. Everyone ignores the fact that he locked me in the bathroom and attacked me before he shower began. It was just a premise, a question to lure me in. Someone even asked "If she hadn't agreed to the shower, would she still have been raped?" The answer is most likely YES because no matter what I said or did, he planned to attack me, he just needed to get me somewhere private, like a bathroom. It was all a part of the plan. #StopRapeEducate #rapeculture #feminism #victimblaming #truth (at Cape Town, South Africa)

Speaking of sleep, this is day #2 of insomnia. It's 4am here in South Africa. There is a lot on my mind especially having been rapes during the @stoprapeeducate World Tour earlier this week. I spoke my truth, came to you guys first, and then went to the police. Thank you all again for supporting me. We are one. We are always connected. We are powerful and together, we can do anything! ⭐️ From @lojo6717 ⭐️ #quotes #truth #StopRapeEducate #loveandlight #enlightenment #awake (at Cape Town, South Africa)

I did my first @stoprapeeducate chalk art piece in Cape Town with the man who would rape me one week later. I still can't believe it but I'm grateful that it has given me a new sense of direction and has drawn us closer as a community. Sometimes life throws shit your way and you just have to make the best of it. Love you all so very, very much. #StopRapeEducate #AmberAmour #AmberTheActivist #SouthAfrica #CapeTown #strength (at Cape Town, South Africa)

The South African police took me back to the scene of the crime yesterday and the forensic photographer collected evidence. The U.S. Embassy has been by my side every step of the way and we're even talking about starting a @stoprapeeducate program here to help others. I have a meeting with the prosecutor this Thursday here in Cape Town which means I will not make my flight to Australia for the #StopRapeEducate World Tour. Events in California are now tentative, as well. I never expected this to happen to me. I'm sorry, everyone. Love & blessings right back to you all. Thanks for the support the past few days. 🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻⭐️🌻 (at Cape Town, South Africa)

This is my Grandmother, Curley Eberhardt Cade, who passed away last night just hours after I got raped in South Africa during the @stoprapeeducate World Tour. I didn't tell any of you this but I financed this trip with your donations but mostly by taking care of my grandmother for a few months this summer. My mom is in her 60s and had been caring for my 94-old Grandmother for 30 years. At the en did her life Grandmother was unable to walk, talk, feed herself, go to the bathroom, or do any of the basic human functions that so many of us take for granted. I changed her diapers, rolled her in the wheelchair at the park, and fed her delicious banana smoothies, her personal favorite. Love is a language with no words. Sometimes when you'd just stand close to her, she would just lean into you and snuggle. I loved when she did that. My Grandmother is a survivor of domestic violence and raised 5 children with an abusive husband. I know that she would be proud of her badass feminist granddaughter. I am proud of her, too. Now, I have another angel looking over me and I will uphold our legacy. #love #family #AmberTheActivist #grandmother #rip #loveyou #beauty #legacy #pride #StopRapeEducate (at Cape Town, South Africa)

My view of the rape kit. Thank you all for being so loving & supportive during this time. Your messages pushed me to take action and to stand up for myself and for all rape survivors. For those who wish to BLAME ME or any other survivor out there, I want you to know that you are the very reason that I am so brutally honest. I could have hidden details. I could have kept some info to myself, but NO. You need to know the truth and to see the reality of the situation. No matter what a person does, it is not an invitation for rape. It doesn't matter if I kissed him. It doesn't matter if he was drunk. It doesn't matter if I said yes to a shower. I never said he could get violent with me. I never said he could make me bleed. I never said he could rape me. But still, that's how the scene went down. I don't need to explain myself but if you're wondering WHY I took a shower with him, it was written in the text, I'd been sick with food poisoning for 2 days and needed to sweat it out. My current place of residence has only cold water (third world problems are real!) and it seemed like a miracle to be offered a hot shower. That's not what he was there for though, because as soon as he got a chance, he threw me to the ground and had his way. Dealing with rape is hard enough but the aftermath is often even more traumatic but I did this for you and I did this for me. The US Embassy and the South African police are super supportive and he may be arrested as soon as this week. Thank you for the love. And for the victim blamers, I send love, peace, and enlightenment to you so that you may be a beacon of light for us, too. #StopRapeEducate #AmberAmour #AmberTheActivist #SouthAfrica #humanitarian #healing #education #africa #surivor #sexualassault #recovery (at Cape Town, South Africa)

Feeling happy, confident, and sexy as fuck with my full grown pit hair! It's longer than some guys honestly, but hey, it's not a competition! 😉 This is the first time I've let my pit hair grow and I feel freaking phenomenal about it! It's hard to explain why, it's just nice to be myself for once. Do what you want with your body as long as it makes you feel good & happy. Shave, wax, or do none of the above but let the only motivation be your heart! It took me decades to get to know who I am outside of what the beauty industry tells me. Now that I am free, I want you to know that you can be just a liberated, too, by doing what ever makes you happy. ❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️☀️❤️ #StopRapeEducate #AmberTheActivist #AmberAmour #peaceandlove #happyhippie #pithair #bodypositive #bodypositivity #effyourbeautystandards #namaste #nature #natural #naturalgirl #sexyandiknowit #loveyourself #freedom #sexy #liberation #girlpower #travel #southafrica #feminism #feminist #womensrights #equality #freedom (at Cape Town, South Africa)

#Repost @stoprapeeducate ・・・ Such a great opportunity to meet @litha_nomkitha today, a long time supporter of #StopRapeEducate 🙌💡She's a phenomenal woman and social worker for Childline, an organization that supports child survivors of rape & abuse. She has been such a huge blessing to our movement and is such a beautiful soul for the amazing work she does. Here in South Africa 40% of rape survivors are children, fuels by the belief that sex with virgins cures AIDS. Thank you for being a part of the revolution. Here's the story of how yoga saves my life: the last time I attempted suicide was about 5 years ago, during my last year of college. There were a lot of reasons why including finding out that my ex recorded us having sex, I was a closeted lesbian, and when school was done, I was forced to move from my home in. Paris, France and back to the United States. One day I had had enough. I took 3 bottles of sleeping pills downed them with vodka and was sad & disappointed when I woke up a tad later to someone knocking on my door. Some friends were popping in to say hi. I felt so ashamed that I had gotten so low that I DECIDED to never feel that way again. I wanted to live but not just get by, I wanted to THRIVE. The next day I went to the book store and came across "Yoga for Dummies" I read all about its health benefits and about how yoga naturally reduced anxiety, stress, depression, and PTSD. I began waking up every morning at 6am and made yoga a part of my daily ritual. Yoga healed me. It can heal you, too. Today, I am a much stronger person and I still practice yoga to reclaim ownership of my body after sexual assault and to maintain inner peace. Give it a go! You can take yoga classes for free on YouTube if you don't know where to begin. 🙏 P.S. This is Cobra Pose in front of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. ⭐️☀️⭐️☀️⭐️☀️⭐️☀️⭐️☀️⭐️☀️⭐️☀️⭐️☀️⭐️ #StopRapeEducate #ambertheactivist #AmberAmour #yoga #cobrapose #asana #gratitude #blessed #fitfam #health #bodypositive #yogaeverywhere #yogaeverydamnday #yogi #humanitarian #visionary #success #travel #effyourbeautystandards #loveyourself #vegan #loveandlight #southafrica #girlboss #power #inspiration #meditation #innerpeace #suicide #depression #strength #wisdom #forgiveness (at Cape Town, South Africa)

As a queer vegan feminist of color, I feel this!!!! 🙌 I respect YOU. I just don't agree with your belief. I'm posting this because from here on out, I'm not defending any of my posts about veganism. Ain't no body got time for that! Educate yourself just like I did. It took me 10+ years to understand and eventually go vegan but now that I have, I've come to realize what a journey it can be to unlearn and reeducate yourself about food, life, love, nutrition, and spirituality. Scroll my pasts posts of heart-shaped veggies to learn WHY I went vegan. Now that I have, never going back!
