Which Storm Hawks character would you choose to go on a dangerous journey with, if they were protecting you?

Well my gut says Aerrow but knowing him, he’d get us INTO danger along the way XD so I’ll probably go with Piper cuz she’s responsible and capable of keeping us safe.

Felt bored, thought I’d share some behind the scenes stuff about the names I’ve chosen for my characters.

Eclipse/Rook- she’s legit named after the third Twilight book XD I was into Twilight when it came out and the vampires inspired me to write my own vampire story. Rook comes from the chess piece of the same name. I often played chess with my dad growing up so I put that in the story too. Ace enjoys chess a lot so he just named her the first thing he could think of.

Rory- Rory means “red king” and is a traditionally Irish name. He was designed after a rose finch so I thought giving him a red kind of name fit.

Kato Robin- He’s named after the character from The Green Hornet. I thought it was a cool name so I used it for Eclipse’s kid. Robin is the original name I have for Ace, so Eclipse wanted to honor him in some way.

Sora Rose- It means “sky” in Japanese and is also a bird! So very Storm Hawks themed lol. Rose is just something I came up with but I like to think Aerrow always wanted to name his kid that so it’s her middle name.

Xaria Raven- it means “gift of love”, not sure the origin though. I thought it was very fitting for Eclipse and Aerrow’s third kid since she was the baby until I designed Ryder. Raven was Eclipse’s way of being cool and keeps the “R” theme the middle names have.

Ryder Ronin- This one was just what I thought Aerrow would come up with XD its Rider but spelled differently. He wanted to give him a “cool” name. Ronin is what Eclipse wanted to name him, so they compromised and used it as his middle name.

You keep saying some of the pups got things from Lightning. Does that mean Lightning was a vampire too?

Oh, lol no. I realize genetically they technically wouldn’t have gotten markings from him?

Then again, Ace was able to pass things onto Eclipse before becoming a vampire, hence why they have similar markings.

So, I guess, wolf forms are kind of “baked in” to every individual. Even as a human, Ace’s wolf form was already predetermined. Vampirism takes from the person’s genes and makes the wolf form based off that. Which is why he has black fur and not like, blue for example.

So in summary, despite being human, Lightning’s genes still kind of showed up in the kids, just manifesting in their wolf forms. Except for his freckles, I’ve given him those in my canon so those show up on Sora regardless of what form she’s in.

Part 2 of the next gen design breakdowns!

Since Aerrow’s genes just went copy/paste with Xaria, I decided to point out what’s different between them XD

And then with Ryder, Eclipse’s genes finally gave her a mini me. His eyes are also a lighter green than Aerrow’s.

This was fun! Maybe I’ll do something like this again sometime.

Got around to working on the design breakdowns! Starting with the twins of course.

While it looks like they got a lot from Aerrow’s side, Eclipse’s genes still decided a lot. For example, both of them get their vampire type from her, with Kato being a desert type and Sora being a snow type.

I also like that Sora gets a lot from her grandparents :3

Also, I realized he actually gets turned at the end of Payback, so The Key is the first canonical episode where he’s a vampire.

Since it’s international asexuality day, I kinda wanna blab about my asexual Aerrow headcanon.

I kinda feel like it helped me figure out my own asexuality? Because as a kid I saw him and was like “hmm, he doesn’t seem all that concerned with that…like me”. Compared to Finn, who was always flirting and into girls, Aerrow just didn’t seem into stuff like that but he could still have romantic feelings for someone, given his sort of hinted at thing with Piper.

So when I finally came to understand that feeling, and that spectrum, I decided “you know what? I think he’s asexual”. Though unlike me, I put him more in the gray asexual side of the spectrum.

But yeah! Just my two cents, thanks for the support on this headcanon btw XD when I first posted it a while back I was like “what will people think?” Makes me happy that people agree with me.

Whats your favorite part about the Storm Hawks fandom in general?

Great question! I like how creative it’s always been. People have been making ocs and writing stories since the beginning and it’s nice to see it’s only picked up since then. We’re a small fandom but that makes it cozy :3

They put the “squad” in Strike Squad, its Eclipse and Aerrow’s kids! As puppies :P

Yeahh their first meeting wasn’t exactly the best…

In the first chapter of the fic, after Rook is captured by the Rex Guardians, Aerrow manages to convince the council to let her go, on the condition that he and his friends rehabilitate her in a year. She is less than thrilled by the idea while he hopes he made the right decision.

Only time will tell…

I was drawing Kato, my next gen character, when I kind of stumbled into what Aerrow might’ve looked like as a kid? So I drew him some more, including young Radarr too.
