i am seeing all of the criticism of watchertv (and agreeing of course - it's entirely tone deaf and un-conducive among other things) but i feel as though the attitude i am seeing from a lot of people online involve absolving shane entirely, saying things like, "shane blink twice if they made you do this!" "shane "eat the rich" would never allow this!" "he was forced into this!" and redirecting all of the blame unto ryan and steven - mostly steven - saying that steven is the "ned fulmer of watcher" (wild thing to say) and delegating the responsibility of this decision entirely onto the two of them, and i cannot help but feel like there is an undeniable racial undertone to this rather vitrolic pivot. i understand being a fan of shane - i myself was a proud shaniac! - but i plead that we be conscious about woobifying an adult man who - though could have very well opposed the decision - was still one of the three ceos who okayed it! nothing is gained from scapegoating the two asian men and relinquishing the white one for the hate that this business venture is garnering. please, by all means, continue to criticize, but if you are, do it tastefully, and be careful with insinuations - especially without knowing the intricacies of the situation (and even if/when we do know something. criticism should never come from veiled bigotry) ! just because the property itself is shifting rather horribly doesn't mean we as watcherinas need to turn our community toxic <33

very endeared by how mychem fans all collectively agree to speak about the band members. every post about them is like: oh yes, the vampire slash undead corpse of a very sickly but very sexy victorian man, the comic book nerd who is plagued with visions and vocal chords bathed in ichor and the inventor of Gender, the best thing to happen to music and probably some kind of god incarnate but we aren't sure yet, and the cat they brought in off the street who never left. also there is no drummer. yeah ignore the drums in the song, there isn't actually any drumming. the mychem drummer is as good as Bigfoot. some ppl swear they've heard one but most people think ur crazy. what drummer? I've certainly never seen one

I think the idea of Jon walker accidentally releasing take a vacation remastered version on Apple Music before officially announcing it is hilarious and I hope its true but I also think the idea of him knowingly releasing it and saying absolutely nothing and instead just posting a Ryan ross meme to the the young veins story is just as funny and either way I love him so much

its 2018. fall out boy released mania, Brendon urie released pray for the wicked, and twenty one pilots released trench. supernatural is on season 14 without any signs of destiel. Voltron season 8 just came out and decimated both klance and its fanbase. the third trials of Apollo came out and made everybody miserable. dan and Phil are on tour, and the final Phil is not on fire came out. Tumblr is never going to be the same.

will solace get behind me right now you are a young child and u had the right to be weary of the underworld especially being who u are. ur allowed to make mistakes and be an accidental asshole because we all make mistakes and are accidental assholes, as long as u acknowledge where u went wrong and begin to make an effort to change, which! Will! did! Actively!!!!! he is always caring and understanding and Nico so obviously feels so comfortable around Will in a way he has not ever been shown to feel with anybody else..... will is a silly nerd boy with crazy powers. and Nico fell for that for a reason!!!!!

idk I guess it just rubs me the wrong way that other ships in the riordanverse get such different treatment.... like when annabeth displays prejudice to Percy for being a son of Poseidon because of their parents rivalries its understood because she's a child who's been brought up with this mindset, but when its Will and Nico they're held to such impossible standards of being consistently perfect..... even though they literally are like the healthiest and most realistically displayed teenage couple the riordanverse has ever had.... I just wonder (know) why this divide exists and I am upset with the sheer amount of un-nuanced takes regarding Will and Nico and this book.... like what do u guys want!!! you want queer ships to be treated the same as straight ships, and then we get mark oshiro doing that, and giving us a wonderfully flawed and wonderfully soft and sweet dynamic, and its scrutinized on every imaginable level for critiques that would never come to another pair :(

not liking tsats is okay! I don't want to force people into liking a book just because I adored it! but when all the criticisms I see of tsats are very clearly things that could be said about all the other books..... it doesn't track and is rather uncomfortable to listen to

I am like the ten thousandth person to say this but I cannot stand the tsats complaint of Nico being 'out of character' because it literally! ignores! the! whole! point! of! his! and! will's! development! when it comes to Nico's personality!

this exchange from the ending of the book says it perfectly!

"I don't want a version of you that I've made up in my head, and I don't want to treat you like you are a /literal/ ball of darkness or anything, either. And I think sometimes I have."

"But I also fed into that," said Nico. "My problem is that I never let anyone believe that I was anything /but/ a ball of darkness. Even though deep down I wanted to have friends and be cared for. But I couldn't let go of all the hurt and pain I was in."

like........ IT IS SO SPELLED OUT RIGHT THERE! in shoving Nico into this box of emo personality and not allowing him to be a silly cringey teenage boy who wants hugs and kisses and friends and fun, its just playing into the exact kind of behaviour Will is apologizing for, and Nico is admitting to! let these boys communicate and have this impeccably healthy relationship, and let Nico be a kid!!!! let him be happy! it is not out of character for somebody to heal!

I bought and read the sun and the star today and..... nobody talk to me rn. I can TELL where mark oshiro pulled through for us. this book is so unapologetically queer, and melded with rick's always wonderful action sequences makes for such a lovely read... it really solidifies Will and Nico's chemistry and history and the wonderful way they love both romantically and as friends.... it never fell into the miscommunication trope even when the boys argued, and instead had them talk it out and be so transparent the whole way through...... it was so cavity-inducing-ly cheesy with just the right moments of incredible fluff and tragedy. I just love them. I love how dorky they are together. two cringe fail (affectionate) losers who are just so so smitten by one another and putting in a beautiful and mature effort towards loving one another the exact way the other needs to be loved. I am just so happy that this book exists within the riordanverse canon

this paragraph fucks me up so bad (always but especially on reread post tears waiting to be diamonds) because we know elliot was absolutely right about himself. elliot schafer at 24 still upholding his morals and being exiled for treason when he refused to bend to injustice and spearheading even more revolution in the borderlands. jase could never handle him bc be made the mistake of thinking elliot could be ‘handled’ at all. like oh my god r u kidding me
