"The experience of being in a monogamous relationship is, however, completely different for bisexual people, because it typically involves a great deal of bi-erasure. People particularly struggle to read people as bisexual if they are in a long-term relationship with one person. This means that there is a sense that, once people are married, the gender of their partner is an indicative of their 'real' sexuality. . . But given that people can't, and probably don't want to, marry more than one person, how can they be read as bisexual? To help tackle this, I propose that you add a new term to your lexicon: 'mixed-orientation relationships'. Recognizing mixed-orientation relationships creates more accurate representation and visibility of bisexual people, and such language allows us to move beyond the terminology of 'gay' and 'straight' relationships. . .
A study on attitudes toward monogamy published in 2014 found that most bisexual people reported 'their own personal relationships as monogamous and traditional'. However, 'overall, bi individuals expressed less supportive attitudes toward monogamy compared to other sexual identity groups. Bisexual people found monogamy to be less enhancing than people who identify as gay, lesbian, or straight. Compared to monosexuals, bisexual people also found monogamy to be more of a sacrifice. This doesn't mean that bisexual people were against monogamy, just that bisexual people considered it less of a holy grail of relationships, and therefore were less keen on this type of relationship."

After Challengers, I was thinking that I wanted to get into the "following sports" fandom. But then I was like, I already have to recognize and criticize the sexism, racism, ableism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, and privilege blindness in the fandoms I'm already a part of. I really don't need to give myself another avenue to do those things.
So this olympics season... honestly I will probably still do those same things, lol. It seems like my friends and family are interested and I don't think I'm capable of just watching without considering/acknowledging the shortcomings.
Maybe this is an opportunity to enter a space where I already know these things are going to happen instead of the alternative which is being surprised when my favs (not necessarily just people but any thing one can be a fan of) aren't immune to toxicity.
So yeah, I'll do both: be a critical fan. Wow, that's so mature of me, omg😍

reblog this if your account is a safe space for polyamorous and non-monag people or is owned by someone who is polyamorous or non-monogamous
op is a monogamous person who felt they haven't seen enough posts acknowledging this part of the queer community outside of non-monogamous circles and blogs

I’m fine with monogamous relationships as long as everyone involved in consenting and no one is cheating 💕

Hearing people shit on Uliana is a bit wild to me tbh.
Maleficent wasn’t invited to a baby shower and decided to kill the baby about it.

You're so right. And we also can't forget, the "aro-coded characters are often also heartless, villains, and black" trope🙄
Wait a minute, why is the only aspec-coded character in Descendants the villain who doesn't change. Sure, everyone is queer-coded, but why is Uma the only aspec-coded one.
I absolutely love Uma, especially because she's aro-coded, but I'm so sick of the "all aros are heartless and villains" trope.

🙃 Regular reminder that while Hozier has amazing love songs, he is ALSO very outspoken about his leftist politics, specifically anti-fascism, anti-racism, reproductive rights, Palestinian rights and more.
Take Me To Church and Foreigner’s God are scathing critiques of organized religion, specifically the Catholic Church and the colonization of Ireland.
Moment’s Silence is about oral sex but it’s ALSO about how that specific sexual act is often distorted to a show of power rather than that of love.
Nina Cried Power is an homage to various (mostly Black) civil rights activists from the US and Ireland and a call to follow their path.
Be criticizes anti-migrant policies and Trump and his ilk.
Jackboot Jump is about the global wave of fascism and about protest and resistance.
Swan Upon Leda is about reproductive rights and the violent colonial oppression of Ireland and Palestine.
Eat Your Young is about the ruinous way the 1%/capitalism and arms dealers prioritize short-term profit over everything else to the detriment of the youth/99%
Butchered Tongue is about Irish and other indigenous languages being suppressed and erased by imperial powers.
If any of the above surprised you, please, please delve deeper into Hozier’s music, you’re missing such an important part of his work.

I just finished watching The Bear season 2 finale. I watched the other episodes around when they came out last year and just never got around to finishing it. And excuse me?
That was not the hopeful happy happy-go-lucky finale that the second to last episode promised me? That was pretty sad actually.
But oh my god, the continuous shot in the beginning, these beautiful shots, jumping between these intense character moments and lighthearted moments was a whirlwind, the double-meaning dialogue especially of that "It's just hard" between Sugar and her husband?🥺🥺
Season three is about to start a hyperfixation that I really do not have the time for but I am adequately pumped😤
(the first half of the finale definitely gave me some second hand anxiety that I now need to decompress from so I will be taking the next season week by week lol)

WTH happened with Wish
I just got into all the discourse about it and I feel so robbed?
Villain couple?
Jack Frost of the new generation??
A tribute movie that does all the cheesy disney things unapologetically without making fun of it???
Where is she? Where is that movie?
Like I just get more confused the more I think about when Disney actually did this well. Like movies that refer to their legacy. Tangled? Enchanted?? Princess and the Frog???
Ookay well we cannot dwell on the past. All we can do now is consume copious amounts of fan material which is popping off right now, for me anyway lol. All of which I was going to do anyway of course. I’m excited to get into it!

Traditional romance and like..."love-at-first-sight" narratives are both weird to me. Like people will just...ask each other out? As complete strangers??? And that works for some people???
Don't get me wrong, I'm attracted to people at first sight, absolutely. I'm a slut to my core, 100%. But are people really out there not getting to know a prospective partner platonically first? How do you even know you like them??? Their fucking shoe size? You don't even know their shoe size! You've never spoken!
I really just think that no one should ever approach a relationship with the intent of making it romantic in the future. Always, always, always, try to be platonic first. If you vibe well, and you try to progress it to a romantic relationship and then they don't feel the same way? Guess what! You get to just fall back into that same platonic rhythm as before. It's a perfect safety net! There's no reason to cry or feel awkward like there would be if they had just outright rejected you and removed themselves from your life entirely because with this method, you get to keep the friends. If the premise for one or both of you was always "Will you date me?" the chances of you guys having a falling out if the advances are refused is exponentially larger.
Just. Don't fucking try. Don't worry about romance, you'll figure it out later, entirely by accident. Just make friends. You'll be happier.
