A handful of cars and trucks had passed by before while he walked, nothing that would make Dylan jump out of his skin, but perhaps he wasn’t paying so much attention to where on the road he was. He didn’t mean to accidentally be in the way of traffic and nearly get hit by a motorcycle! Oops.

Dylan promptly jumped to the shoulder to avoid actually being hit, and when he saw the person actually stop their bike, he tensed up, assuming he was about to be harassed for getting in their way. At least it wasn’t as bad as he expected when she spoke up.

“Sorry, sorry, I didn’t think much traffic would be here around this time of night.” It was really dead minus a car or truck every 15 minutes or so. “I’m just heading to the next town is all.” He’s not going to actually ask to hitch a ride, even thought  the thought crossed his mind. He’s not even sure if there’s room for him on that bike.

“You would’ve been sorry if I Hit you!” The brunette huffed. “Either way, it’s pretty weird for someone like you to be out here at like three in the morning. Only weirdos and murderers do that sort of thing. Lucky for you, I ain’t neither of those things. Aside from the next town, where are you tryin’ to get to?” Rae got off the bike, putting out the kick-stand. She crossed her arms and looked sternly to the stranger.

Dylan felt he spent enough time in that city, staying any longer risked too much and he did not want to start getting lazy. He’s gone this far, he’s certainly not going to screw himself over now.

Walking down a freeway isn’t exactly the safest, but it is nearly 3am so it’s not like there’s much traffic. It would be kinda nice to hitch hike, but he’s unsure how safe that would really be. But maybe if he can flag down a car, he can try. All this walking is wearing him out.

It was very rare that Rae would travel outside of town, especially at night. Leaving Liesel on her own was almost never an option but in this case, it was not up to the ghoul and thus she had to ride back from Maine by herself. 

Seeing the motorcycle’s headlight illuminate someone on the side of the road, she nearly swerved as she put on the brakes. Pulling up to the stranger slowly, a flurry of questions flooded her mind. Was this a human? It couldn’t be unless they were insane. Possibly a Werewolf at worst. Either way, she had to find out somehow. 

“Hey! What the hell are you doing out this far? Someone without their lights on might hit you if you ain’t careful.” Rae pointed out.

She had just been quietly looking at the sky when this human had just walked into her spot. “I am a Zircon.” No facet, no cut, because apparently humans didn’t have those kinds of identification. Just a name! How confusing it must be! Having to individually memorize one name for a single individual. A time wastingprocess. “And my look is something the Diamonds have designed for me.”

“Well, you look pretty weird for someone to have that kind of name. You aren’t human either, are you? Or are you just really sunk into an acting role?” Rae asked, a hand on her hip. They didn’t seem human but they weren’t a vampire either. Unless for some reason they were Daeva, in which case, she could believe it. 

“You look all dressed up for a Masquerade.”

Raelynn nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard the voice near her come from seemingly nowhere. 

“Who the--?! If you want to be literal about it, then sure? Who the hell are you and what’s up with the funky get-up?” The brunette said, looking the other up and down.
