Do you think the Meta-Knights have seen under Meta Knight's mask?

They've got the spirit.

Typically the Meta-Knights are busy/defeated by the time a Meta Knight boss fight happens, but that isn't the case in Squeak Squad. I imagine Meta Knight, after the stress of relaunching the Halberd early, trying and failing to keep Dark Nebula away from Kirby, and finding out last minute the Squeak Squad have broken in (and gotten possessed) just... didn't give a shit during the following status report.

Trident Knight and Mace Knight also unmask out of solidarity, even if Meta Knight knows what they all look like. I've seen Trident Knight at as a Waddle Dee before, but I went for a Sectra Dee instead. And when I was looking through Kirby enemies for Mace Knight, the idea of him being a Squishy couldn't leave my head, so there's a squid under there!

But yeah, Meta Knight obviously trusts his crew, and they'd never judge. It just took Meta Knight having a really bad day first.

Who's your favourite of the Meta-Knights?

Axe Knight! I love this little skull (or skully)! He's got a sick axe, he's afraid of heights, AND he's shorter than the Halberd steering wheel and still allowed to drive! Perfect guy.

I'm not the first person to think Axe Knight is a skully, but it's a hc that adds a lot for me. Again, not my original idea, but the Halberd crew being full of misfits Meta Knight took in is so fun. And it certainly explains why they're all so ride-or-die.

God I love Revenge of Meta Knight. The whole premise is one of the funniest in the entire series, and I've always imagined that, after making the ship-wide launch announcements, someone just...left the mic on.

What if... I come back from the dead and do @das-a-kirby-blog's DTIYS?

Times are tough, and in moments like those, sometimes you got to come back to Kirby. I loved the structure of this piece and really wanted to give it a shot. The limited color scheme was a fun challenge, as was packing in so many characters! I changed a couple things around, like putting in Lololo, Lalala, and Kracko on Dedede's side since they were his minions in Dream Land. I also removed Dark Crafter because, while I love the rep, I thought tying Yin-Yarn to the Jamba Heart was more accurate to shared enemies of our sworn partners. Regardless, I loved the original and I hope I did it justice. Maybe I'm back? We'll see...

Don't know why they'd want to take the perfect jumping photo, but I thought it'd be cute! Because Marx and Gooey are both part of Wave 1 in Star Allies I can totally imagine them hanging out, and these pictures are taken by Rick in my head to tie it all together.

First Meeting - Part Two

The thought that Meta Knight had a whole rebellion planned for a guy he knew about second-hand is just too good to pass up, and it creates the tense “working” relationship I imagine them having in the beginning. They both assume the worst of each other, and want to keep tabs on whatever stupid thing they’ll get up to next. It’s not until a certain Nightmare enters the picture where they work together for real instead of trying to play 5D chess mind games. 

I can’t wait to see what else people come up with this week! I broke my ass trying to get this out in time, but it was worth it! (I swear, all of my comics are either Metadede, heavy lore, or both lol)

First Meeting - Part One

I’ve seen plenty of ways Meta Knight and King Dedede met, but for me I always thought it would be funny if Revenge of Meta Knight happened before they knew each other. This part is mostly context for the second, so the real meat is in the next one.

ALSO: While this is an entry for Metadede Week, I will not be doing the rest, at least not on time like this (obviously; this took three straight days of work). Part Two will be posted immediately after this one.

So I know I tangentially mentioned I'm willing to take art requests on another post, but I've been meaning to make an official announcement for some time. As long as you follow the guidelines, any Kirby game request is yours! (Though, extra clarification: No OCs for now because those aren't in the games)

The longer I go between doing a journal touch-up, the more I end up changing from the original page. By far this one has the most dialogue adjustments, including getting rid of Kirby's dialogue which felt ooc (For the bad dialogue, not necessarily speaking on its own). Anyway- Dark Matter! Like nearly everything in this franchise I've got thoughts, and some of them are on display here, like Blade being kind of a dork. And with Gooey, I HC his eyes look different directions because he has to concentrate harder to focus them after having one eye for so long. If he's really tired they'll start to melt together. I also imagine Gooey stowed Blade away after KDL2 because who would suspect Gooey would hide anything? It's the perfect plan.

The grand finale of this set of redraws! I think the changes I made to this one (of which there are... many) really reflect how I've changed my opinion on Squeak Squad as a whole. The fandom likes to joke the plot is a hot mess, and I've decided to take that hot mess and overanalyze it for myself until I like it. Now it's less about Kirby punching people over cake, and more a story about misunderstandings and the horrible things that can come from them. It's still ridiculous, but I wouldn't be a Kirby fan if I didn't enjoy a little silliness.

Ah, the classic. Meta Knight and Dark Meta Knight have big sibling energy to me, and as an elder sibling myself, I would flip off my younger brother from my mirror prison too. Of the four redraws I just worked on, this one has changed the least compositionally because I think the original is perfect in that arena. Honestly as nice as it looks when given more than an hour and a half, it's kinda lost it's wonky charm. Well, the original still exists.
