King Dedede and Dark Matter?

Dedede has had to deal with so many different Dark Matters at this point that I thought it'd be fun for him to make a tierlist. I hope it came across that Dark Matter Blade's blade ranks one slot higher than the user himself.

What if... I come back from the dead and do @das-a-kirby-blog's DTIYS?

Times are tough, and in moments like those, sometimes you got to come back to Kirby. I loved the structure of this piece and really wanted to give it a shot. The limited color scheme was a fun challenge, as was packing in so many characters! I changed a couple things around, like putting in Lololo, Lalala, and Kracko on Dedede's side since they were his minions in Dream Land. I also removed Dark Crafter because, while I love the rep, I thought tying Yin-Yarn to the Jamba Heart was more accurate to shared enemies of our sworn partners. Regardless, I loved the original and I hope I did it justice. Maybe I'm back? We'll see...

Thanks for the great suggestions! It's really fun figuring out how different characters would make a presentation. Bandana Dee's is a well-decorated travel log, Kirby's is... straight to the point, and Meta Knight's is based on hard facts he'll assure you.

Do you think the Meta-Knights have seen under Meta Knight's mask?

They've got the spirit.

Typically the Meta-Knights are busy/defeated by the time a Meta Knight boss fight happens, but that isn't the case in Squeak Squad. I imagine Meta Knight, after the stress of relaunching the Halberd early, trying and failing to keep Dark Nebula away from Kirby, and finding out last minute the Squeak Squad have broken in (and gotten possessed) just... didn't give a shit during the following status report.

Trident Knight and Mace Knight also unmask out of solidarity, even if Meta Knight knows what they all look like. I've seen Trident Knight at as a Waddle Dee before, but I went for a Sectra Dee instead. And when I was looking through Kirby enemies for Mace Knight, the idea of him being a Squishy couldn't leave my head, so there's a squid under there!

But yeah, Meta Knight obviously trusts his crew, and they'd never judge. It just took Meta Knight having a really bad day first.

Who's your favourite of the Meta-Knights?

Axe Knight! I love this little skull (or skully)! He's got a sick axe, he's afraid of heights, AND he's shorter than the Halberd steering wheel and still allowed to drive! Perfect guy.

I'm not the first person to think Axe Knight is a skully, but it's a hc that adds a lot for me. Again, not my original idea, but the Halberd crew being full of misfits Meta Knight took in is so fun. And it certainly explains why they're all so ride-or-die.

Something Revenge of Meta Knight related?

The Halberd is a tightly run ship.

God I love Revenge of Meta Knight. The whole premise is one of the funniest in the entire series, and I've always imagined that, after making the ship-wide launch announcements, someone just...left the mic on.

I absolutely adore Undertale, and if I had access to my drawing tablet a few years sooner, that's what this blog would be about. I had this scene imagined for a while now where Kirby visits the Underground and Sans has no idea what to make of them. Kirby literally killed Void Termina (because they reincarnate) so that's got to give them a lot of EXP, but at the same time, Kirby doesn't want to kill people when he fights. There is no intent to kill, so Kirby stays at LV 1. As for why everything else is a ?, those skills depend on the copy ability. Sorry Sans, figure that one out.

Kirby's Adventure! I've actually now played it for myself thanks to the switch port, but that entire experience was a nightmare (pun intended but omg this is why I don't play older video games.) I still liked the joke from the original, but I decided to make it a comic instead. Really space out Dedede's crisis. Comics are really fun too because you can add so many little details, like the newspaper or the cards, which are just pngs stolen from google because I'm not a masochist.

The longer I go between doing a journal touch-up, the more I end up changing from the original page. By far this one has the most dialogue adjustments, including getting rid of Kirby's dialogue which felt ooc (For the bad dialogue, not necessarily speaking on its own). Anyway- Dark Matter! Like nearly everything in this franchise I've got thoughts, and some of them are on display here, like Blade being kind of a dork. And with Gooey, I HC his eyes look different directions because he has to concentrate harder to focus them after having one eye for so long. If he's really tired they'll start to melt together. I also imagine Gooey stowed Blade away after KDL2 because who would suspect Gooey would hide anything? It's the perfect plan.

"Happy Halloween!" - Me

This month sure has been a ride, but I'll get into all of that tomorrow, because right now it's spooky time! I also wanted to take the time to explain all the costumes because I put a lot of thought into it.

From left to right (kind of):

Kine and Gooey: Gooey's only interest that we know is fishing, so I decided to dress him up as a fish , and to make that less weird, Kine is dressed up as Gooey.

Meta Knight: He's Galacta Knight, the legendary 'greatest warrior in the galaxy'. I'm still on the fence on whether it's canon that they've met/fought, but either way, I purposely didn't look up reference for the costume because even if they did meet, Meta Knight has to work from memory on what he looked like. Meta Knight's also trying to sneak some candy from Marx; we'll see how well that goes.

Marx: Groucho Marx glasses without the mustache so we can see him chomping candy, and a special Halloween print hat! That big bag of candy he's hording is definitely stolen.

King Dedede: DDD's a big prankster, and currently that's taking the mundane form of trying to jumpscare Kirby. I wanted his costume to be something that scares Kirby, but not like, scares Kirby, and I ended up with a capiller. Kirby's grossed out by those things, so it works!

Sailor Dee: They're Meta Knight because of course. Though, Meta Knight's not wearing his usual mask tonight, so maybe that one isn't a fake?

Bandana Dee: Okay, I admit it. This one is the stupidest one here. He's an apple tree. He likes apples. Bada bing bada boom. I didn't want a majority of the costumes to be pop culture references, so it's kind of hard to come up with something. Though, wouldn't an apple tree costume be a Whispy Woods costume in Dream Land?

Kirby: So, Samus is canon to Kirby, and in the Great Cave Offensive you find a bunch of other Nintendo references, and Kirby is in Smash... so technically Link isn't even a pop culture costume? Idk, but they already dress as him every time they pick up sword anyway. Kirby's actually part of a group costume because next up is

Ribbon: Navi! Apparently the teaser website for K64 compared the two, and while all they have in common is being a fairy, I thought it'd be cute to pair that up with Kirby and two other people.

Taranza: Kind of plain, but he's a vampire. I feel like that's one of the only Halloween costumes he'd be willing to wear, and he can put those silly glow-in-the-dark fangs in! And who's to say vampire romance books don't also exist in Floralia for him to enjoy?

Adeleine: Drawcia, because I've seen a lot of people already put Adeleine in a witch costume, and Drawcia and Adeleine both have paint in common. I was considering having her dress up like a fairy for both Ribbon and Elline, but Elline's in the picture so Drawcia it is!

Prince Fluff: Continuing their group costume is Princess Zelda, which was picked solely because it matched the others and because Fluff is royalty, but putting a big blond wig on him is cute anyway.

Susie: A popstar (not the planet lol) She loves to sing and I thought it'd be cute but still 'professional' since she's currently repping HWC with her specialty jumbo candy bars.

Dark Meta Knight and Shadow Kirby: Because of course, Shadow Kirby is Dark Link, finishing our group costume! DMK doesn't have a costume (boo) because he was just going to drop Shadow Kirby off but probably ends up sticking around in the corner.

Claycia and Elline: Their costumes work in contrast with each other, where Claycia is a black and white mime and Elline is a rainbow fairy princess!

Magolor: He was of (semi) sound mind for the first phase of his boss battle, so I imagine Magolor does like that robe, and he's not one to shy away from referencing his betrayal for a joke, so he's dressed up as Crowned Magolor (with the crown prop crumpled in a trashcan somewhere) and sneaking some Magolor cookies onto the snack table.

Daroach: Last but not least, Daroach is a pirate captain, with his loyal crew of squeaks hiding below the table and gorging on candy.

I saw @pinnnipeds screenshot of the RTDL victory dance and it immediately threw me out of my art funk. So from left to right we have King Dedede plummeting from the heavens, Kirby giving up, Meta Knight deciding the floor is indeed made of floor, and Bandana Dee being photogenic as usual! I'd like to think they put a camera on a timer and this was the end result (and probably best result too lol). Man I'm so hyped for the Dream Team reunion!

This entire... comic? Is entirely off topic from my last post but a. I've been in a lore mood and b. I've been sick with the worst cold of my life and this has been sitting unfinished for months, so I might as well treat myself.

I have a bajillion feelings about the Mirror World and how it works, and I decided to put some of those thoughts into this "guide", both in the content, and the state Shadow Kirby finds it in...

This also might be a part one to something or it might not. We'll see. Let me know if you want to here me gush about this because I could write whole essays, but this format is marginally more interesting.

For "magical" I decided to bring in our trio of magicians: Wiz, Squashini, and of course, Magolor. I love putting the characters with clothes into different outfits, and I hope the look I gave Magolor here works! As I was drawing, I realized I wanted this to take place in the 100% Cutscene theatre (sort of) but I didn't have the time nor energy to put anyone in the seats, so let's just say they're rehearsing something for later.

"Come to your senses, King Dedede!" - Kirby Triple Deluxe

I would've done a quote from Epic Yarn, but the only one I could find was making fun of King Dedede so, oh well. I was going to base this one off of Triple Deluxe anyway before I came to the funny realization that Yin-Yarn beat Taranza to the punch on puppeting Dedede. It was a lot of fun drawing Yarn Dedede too, especially since he looks like how I draw Dedede normally surprisingly well?

I don't know, I was just kinda thinking of Dedede and Meta Knight hanging out and Dedede realizing for the first time that, at least in private, Meta Knight is comfortable lifting up his mask (...and sharing his secret snacks!)

I spent awhile on this one just to make it look extra cozy. I was half tempted to draw the sunrise in the window, because these two would totally be up until 6am scheming.
