like don’t get me wrong I was *shook* watching the yellow coat become a pocket square, but I think it would’ve been SUCH an ending to just have poppy vanish in that scene (and not have Ruby remember her) because the suspension machine didn’t actually work and absolutely no one realizes bc poppy & that whole event are simply erased from memory. Like what a gut punch that would have been!!! And then the three of them could have gone off and done more adventuring !!! But no, instead they completely altered Belinda’s character, history, and life, to bring poppy back and have an excuse for the doctor to regenerate & Belinda to not be the companion anymore.

However, I appreciate the perpetuation of that bit of Conrad’s wish world in the sense that even tho the Doctor “saved the day” and turned the world back to normal, Belinda as a woman was still forced into motherhood because that is still very much something that happens in our reality. That was a gut punch in & of itself. And we all hate it so much bc we’re angry on Belinda’s behalf. And I think that’s the point. The world was “fixed” but the problem persists.

Can I just say I absolutely despise what they did to Belinda, using her as a vessel for the Doctor’s sudden child fixation when her character has never expressed any interest in children, then rewriting her whole timeline to accommodate afterward.

It feels especially infuriating when the previous episode *nailed* the misogyny and compulsory heterosexuality of Conrad’s World, only to see so much of it replicated at Belinda’s expense in the ‘restored’ world.
