Ok but Ruby having to use her white privilege to get information and get Lindy to listen to the Doctor. Lindy thinking black people all look the same to the point that she didn't question the Doctor popping up a second time until later on. Her being so shocked at him and Ruby being in the same room. Ruby and the Doctor saying things in the same tone and similar language but the Doctor is the one that gets called condescending and horrible.
Face to face contact with the Doctor being considered unacceptable and akin to contamination. Hoochie Pie calling the TARDIS voodoo. Lindy saying that it was the Doctor's duty to save her, but he "isn't like them" so they refuse to travel with him. Lindy's friends talking about taming and owning the wilderness like their ancestors did.
The episode wasn't themed around "boohoo social media". It's about how racist and colonialist structures permeate all of society and are damaging to everyone, and that the comments that people make are the tip of the iceberg that is their active bias and prejudice. I don't get how people don't understand that.

also can we talk about how this was the first episode millie filmed of the new series?? 18 year old millie gibson who was used to being a character in coronation street gets thrown in the deep end with an episode entirely focussed on her and her characters emotional response with no co-star to bounce off of AND SHE SMASHED IT

I love watching F2 kids make the jump to F1 because they drive with that "I don't care about this car. I will commit to that corner and i don't care if it kills us both" mentality

Something so sinister and harrowing to me about the only black man in F1 bearing the weight of activism and morality for the entirety of the sport. that when it becomes institutionally acceptable to call for a fucking ceasefire F1 will point to Lewis and parade his bravery as though it was a joint enterprise and say "WE did that months ago".
The indignity about the way he gets maligned then co-opted is more harrowing to me than the overt shit they do to him somehow.

"You don't know how good I am!" shouted from David's mouth is one of the most terrifyingly accurate portrayals of how men like him think I've ever seen

craig mazin proving to all of us once again that he knows exactly when and where changes need to be made from the game to the show and exactly what he's saying when he makes those changes with ellie being allowed to brutalise david without joel stopping her are you listening to me!!!! it's about giving ellie far more agency and independence than her game counterpart, it's about allowing her to be the protagonist on her own terms, it's about joel once again failing her and showing up too late to save her and finding her stumbling about in the snow and all he can do is hold her and tell her it's okay, it's about setting up the kind of person ellie becomes when joel isn't there to hold her back it's about showing the extent of the brutality she is capable of when given the right motivation, and most importantly it's about ellie finally getting the outlet to release every bit of rage and anger and fear and sorrow she's had building up her entire life and violently reclaiming her own life on her own terms! and it's about giving bella ramsey his emmy moment!!! are you fucking listening to me!!!!!!

joel when he knows ellie is safe: *actively dying / has not moved or spoken in days*
joel when he knows ellie is in danger: *wakes himself out of a feverish dream state, stands up for the first time since getting stabbed, strangles a man with his bare hands in a sudden burst of strength, ambushes another, duct tapes a guy to a chair and tortures him, murders them for being involved in taking ellie, walks miles in the cold to find her, all while carrying her backpack bc he knows her belongings are important to her, “its ok babygirl”*
