Seeing more of this kind of labelling in Japan. This came from a bento shop outside the Tokaido Shinkansen gates in Tokyo Station. The English may not be perfect, but it could help if you have allergies, are vegetarian, or have other dietary restrictions. This label covers 27 “designated allergens” (list), but it’s more common to see 7 (shrimp, crab, wheat, buckwheat, egg, milk, and peanut). 

This system is used at some chains, but it’ll be a while yet before there’s US levels of allergy/diet awareness, so be prepared!

Zollern, from 1218 Hohenzollern, was a county of the Holy Roman Empire. Later its capital was Hechingen. The Hohenzollern Castle lies on a 855 m high hilltop and still belongs to the family today.
