Of course, it’d be just her luck to get anyone else’s attention but the one guy she actually wanted attention from. Not that she was complaining, loving or appreciating any interaction she got with her friend in any form it came, but there was something to be said for always reaching for the impossible. “Are you trying to imply that I distract you, Jace Santos? How very dare you?” The smile that lit up her face was very real, for even if it wasn’t the kind of distraction she intended to be, there was the part of her that rejoiced in succeeding at it. Albeit minimally. “You wouldn’t do that to me. I’d call for your blood and I know somebody on the staff would believe in my innocence, number 34.” Behaving was tough, mostly when he was in the scene. Lisa knew what it was that made her act out, but still – why bother holding it back?

“yeah, you’re real distracting when you keep opening that big mouth of yours,” he teased, turning the lens slightly to adjust the focus on the actress in front of him. it was easy with lisa -- both at work and outside of it. it was no secret that jace didn’t get along with the majority of their coworkers, but it was always a treat when he got to work with lisa. “you may have my brother wrapped around your finger, but i see through that innocent routine; the camera sees all.” one last adjustment and he leaned back from the camera, blinking a few times as his eyes adjusted to the room’s lighting. “alright, princess; you’re all finished. shooting should start once the others are finished in hair and makeup, and as long as someone doesn’t decide it’s a good time for blooper reel takes, we should get you outta here shortly.”

camera pointed at lisa, jace cracked a smile at her comment -- a genuine one at that, as lisa was one of the few people who could actually pull one out of him. “wear that to my next game and i bet you’d distract everyone on the field,” he mused, shaking his head and chuckling. “that could work out to my advantage though, so by all means.” lisa had that presence that commanded whatever area she was in, but jace liked to think he was immune to it after spending so much time with her over the last four seasons -- at least for the most part. “now stop distracting me, or you’re gonna be standing in that spot forever.”

It was never the most comfortable of situations, having to remain in place while lighting and cameras happened to be re-arranged around one. Adding to that the fact that she was already fully in costume, and not simply doing a camera check, and the smile on her face had become more than a little bit stilted. Even after three whole seasons, putting on the cheerleader costume never failed to feel like too much of a gimmick. Did her legs really have to look like that? She tugged absently at the hem of the stretchy skirt, to no avail, teeth digging slightly into her bottom lip as she focused her gaze on the cameras again. Or, more specifically, one of the operators behind them. “ @svntcs? Why so serious? Think I could borrow this for your next game?” she queried, her tone passably neutral, head tilting to one side as she put on a cutesie pose.

“ I MEAN, it comes in handy for me too sometimes,” connor chuckled, enjoying the smell of the food his brother was putting together for the two of them. “so, i can’t complain either. but it’s not like i can’t cook, i just choose not to a majority of the time. sandwiches are like my favorite food, but i do love stir fry, yes.”

“you and your sandwiches,” jace teased, opening a cabinet and pulling out two plates. his family dinner had turned into just a jace and connor dinner when the others had to cancel last minute, but it just meant more food for them, right? the others would be able to join them someday. “i definitely made too much, so i hope you brought your appetite.”

There was very little a girl could do without causing a scene – and, truthfully, she was still having a tough time breaking out of the mindset of anything being preferable to a near public scandal. Or the mindset that she was allowed to have feelings of her own - be it those of discomfort whenever someone lingered too near, their gaze dropping a little too low down her collar. Her entire body tensed for a second before she let out the breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding until Jace appeared, his presence a more than welcome one. “That’s easy for you to say. So far, my scary face has garnered no results,” the latter was said with a slightly self-deprecating smile, one that turned into something sweeter as she glanced from the other intern towards Jace. “Besides, you were nearby, weren’t you? I’ll save the spilling glasses on my own clothes until there’s no other way out. Unless I’m cramping your game somehow? I’m not actually expecting you to always come and rescue me, you know. Much as I appreciate it.”

jace raised an eyebrow, lips pulling into a smirk. “scary face? oh, i gotta see what you consider a scary face. don’t hold out on me now, headey.” he pulled her in closer, thwarting off any others lurking around and waiting for him to leave. his gaze softened as he turned to face her, his smile genuine. “hey, don’t worry about it; you’re always gonna have me to come and rescue you if you need it.” jace wasn’t exactly knight in shining armor material, but the ones who went to war for what they believed in always had dents in their armor anyway. “i’ll take the bullet for your clothes any day; i’ve heard trying to get that shit out is a nightmare.”

“i only took that cooking class for an easy credit, but i’m actually glad that i did,” he said, checking on his stir fry before turning off the flame. “as much as i enjoy our takeout and fast food lunches, it’s kinda cool to be able to eat something you actually know the real ingredients of, right?” // @conncrsantcs

it was almost like a second job, keeping the undesirables away from callie, and that night was no different. the wrap party was in full swing, and jace could see callie being chatted up by an intern from suburbia. jace threw back the rest of his drink and set the glass down, pushing his way through the crowd towards her. once he reached her, he threw an arm around callie’s shoulders and shot the intern a mildly threatening look -- still enough to make the kid wet his pants. “excuse us,” he said, pulling callie away. once they were a same distance away, he leaned his head a little closer, his arm still around her shoulders. “you gotta learn how to ditch those guys, cal,” // @calliexheadey

hello !!!! welcome back it’s been so long since i took on another character !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i’m an idiot who deleted jace’s intro when i reused his blog so now i gotta fuckin rewrite it all over again

okay anyway !!! this is one of @conncrsantcs‘s foster brothers ayy !!!!

jace was adopted by the santos family at the ripe young age of fourteen

lived with his birth mom ( and no dad ) until he was about three, and after the neighbors overheard his mom during one of her drunken fits and spotted jace leaving the house with bruises and cuts they called cps

jace was then put in the foster system, and thus started his long journey to eventually getting adopted

when he was younger it had almost happened a few times, but something or another would happen and the adoption fell through

eventually he just became too old to be wanted tbh ( couples always want babies or toddlers or some shit u know )

had a definite anger problem in school ( not with his foster siblings tho bc he would do anything for family, biological or not )

would constantly be getting into fights, usually when he was defending one of his younger sibs but that didn’t matter to the school board/whoever was fostering him at the time

went through more foster homes than he could count

at one home, though, a few of his siblings taught him how to play football, in an attempt to give him a healthier outlet for his anger issues

it was love at first ‘hike’ and it definitely helped, until he inevitably got kicked out again

when the santos family stepped up to take him in, jace didn’t expect it to last long -- even when the adoption papers were signed and he was officially a santos, he kept waiting for the day they gave up on him too

they didn’t though, and jace finally had a family and all was good in the world :’)

he played football all the way through high school and got a full football scholarship to usc

between classes and practice and homework, jace’s older brother also got him an internship on the show he was working on ( lesliean ) and jace started what would be his future career

jace still goes to usc when lesliean isn’t filming and does online courses whenever he can, and he’s pretty close to graduating !!!!

he never thought he’d graduate high school let alone college so it’s a Big Deal

ummm ok anyway so jace is loyal af if you’re one of his People ( especially family he would kill for his family )
