hi swaggie!! i am absolutely obsessed with your art and I was wondering if you’d be willing to(/have in the past) shared anything about your process? Like your brush preferences, sketching, and rendering pieces. I am so obsessed with how dynamically you draw poses and how you always pick the most banger colour palettes ever (especially in your midnight strangers fanart‼️)

AWWWW THANK YOU, that means so much! My process honestly changes from piece to piece, but I will try to summarize the main parts as best I can, hehe.

I just had another ask about brushes, which I'll be posting soon :D

For poses, I love using a good ole reference, and if photo references aren't available, Clip Studio’s 3d model feature is a MASSIVE help with both anatomy and perspective. I'd say the trick for improving dynamics in poses is honing your gesture skills. A great resource for gesture is the line of action. YouTube also has some amazing tutorials on how to gesture.

Color is actually a thing I'm greatly struggling with atm LMAO. But I tend to stick to warm color palettes overall. One thing I do is I don't tend to use pure black or pure white (except in small amounts in specific places such as an eye highlight), it will usually be some form of a dark purple/brown and an off white. Since color can be overwhelming, the last bit of advice I would have is to limit your color palette. It's much more manageable for you and pleasing to the eye to use the same color in multiple areas of the piece. (Gradient maps are also a massive help if I want a sketch I have already colored in greyscale to have some color.)
