skylie-clearwater:
She gave up. Skylie saw no point in trying to get anywhere with the beast. It was clear now he didn’t get She plopped down back under the little cliff, huffing in distress. She knew she couldn’t swim the distance. She could barely see anything. And the creature didn’t understand what she was asking of him. Hot tears of frustration began to build up in her eyes.
The child was scared. Would she ever get out of this dark cave? What if… What if the bad people looking for her FOUND her? That was why she was in the ruins to begin with. Trying to hide.
As she plopped down, he did as well -- gently, as not to cause the water around her to splash up. He knew better than that -- his boy was okay with water, but splashing him when he didn’t feel well hadn’t gone well between the two.
He lowered his head to meet her small form, nudging her with his nose and sniffing her as gingerly as possible. He began to purr and rubbed his face against her, trying to stop her crying. Even if he didn’t know what she wanted, and even if she wasn’t his boy, he didn’t want her to be sad.

skylie-clearwater:
Well. That wasn’t as expected. Skylie wasn’t sure how to get her message across. But the beast had tried. The girl sighed, thinking very hard on it.
“Um… Not quite… To the other side of the water?” Feeling a bit frustrated, she stamped her feet a tiny bit. Skylie looked back into the big eyes, and pointed again. The child glanced briefly to the opposite end of the pool and then back to the creature. “Please? I-I can’t swim… I’ll drown on my own…”
He blinked. She was on the ground now, not the edge. What did she want? She seemed sad. Was she hungry? He nudged her with his muzzle.. he didn’t understand. Did she want to go back on the little cliff he had originally placed her on?
He whined in confusion, not understanding her desires. Around her was ancient, cracked ground, brown and musty. It was very dark, but the toriko’s horns and eyes challenged its presence.

skylie-clearwater:
She squeezed her eyes shut when that big, dark mouth came towards her. Only to feel the warmth of his sweet breath.
The girl was amazed at how his eyes were now glowing. Skylie slowly turned to leave, and quickly realized she was not getting down on her own. So, she turned back around to face the massive beast.
“I-I want to get down…” She pointed to the opposite end of the pool, before repeating herself. “Get down? Me get down? Over there?”
He watched her turn around to face him and their eyes met; hers strawberry and his chartreuse.
He puffed deeply before tilting his head again. He didn’t know this new child’s language, he only knew the language of his Boy -- who, it seemed, was not present. He held back a whine; he missed the Boy deeply even after all this time.
When she pointed, his head followed the direction of her fingers and locked onto the edge of the shallows where he had jumped off -- it had crumbled slightly under his weight. Roaring quietly, he attempted to comprehend her wishes -- she was pointing at the edge, and she was on the little cliff... but she wasn’t stomping her feet.
He decided to go with what he believed to be the most logical conclusion, turning his head back in her direction and nudging her slightly before grabbing her by the back of her shirt and swiveling to face the edge, where he promptly set her down.

devoidofxxxx:
Allen laughed at the creature’s actions, but upon being touched by the tongue the boy finally understood that this place he and the creature stood in was real. A fear gripped into him, yet passed quickly when he thought things through a little more. Somehow he’d ended up in this spot. He didn’t remember anything about coming here so that meant he must have been brought here while he’d been sleeping. There had to be an explanation for all of this! Why was he here? How could he end up in a spot like this in the span of only one night? It didn’t make any sense!
“I was taken from my home. All my friends will be wondering where I am. Teacher will be so upset! They’ll all be so upset! How did this happen? Why did it happen?”
Tumblr media
He did sound panicked but it seemed like he was more concerned with the others rather than worrying about himself all too much. Then all of a sudden all forms of emotion vanished as Allen started to put together some abnormal thoughts for someone of his age. It was scary how emotionless he became in that moment.
“Is it a bad thing if I’m gone though? No one will miss me. I only got to the facility about a month ago. Perhaps it’s better if I’m away from them, that way I’m not a bother. Yes, it is better for them! Why didn’t I think of that before? It makes so much sense! If I’m here then I can’t be causing trouble for anyone! That’s so much better isn’t it? I can be here and disappear! No needs to worry about me anymore ever!”
Tumblr media
Allen kept saying these sorts of things over and over and showed no sign of stopping. He even started to pace back and forth before finally going to the beast and running into them. That seemed to knock the boy out of his stupor and back to reality. The boy then patted the beast’s hide on instinct as if asking for some help.
The toriko had drawn back and allowed the small child to speak of his worries and bothers, listening as intently as a primal creature who couldn’t yet comprehend the other’s words such as himself could. As the other spoke, he found himself wishing that he could understand their words. He wished to help, but, frustratingly enough, couldn’t make head or tails of what they uttered. They looked to be in a poor, fast-declining mental state -- this bothered him considerably.
He found himself heavily concerned by their self-deprecation. He himself could self-deprecate at times, but it was never on such a level that it affected him the way the boy was being affected by his own words. He didn’t quite believe in himself to be able to do some things -- such as, in his current state, fighting with another toriko... but he didn’t think that it was the same sort of disbelief in one’s self.
Finally deciding to react to the child’s babbling, having had enough of hearing it spout endlessly out of his own personal hero, he leaned his head down to their height, shut his eyes tightly, and began to brush his fur against the other in a soothing motion, gentle so as not to cause the other to tumble backwards. The purring never ceased, and he continued to smother Allen in his happier pheromones. He began to softly nudge them, trying to disrupt them out of whatever metaphorical hole he had fallen into.

whiteswxrm:
“I wonder who built this place, there must have been some ancient cultures here, maybe lost in the centuries… And now your kind inhabits this crater and what it contains.”
At least it was the most logic hypothesis. These buildings looked very old and no one was there.
“I journey a lot. I’m looking for my mother… She lost me and now I want to find her”
This was untrue; the torikos only purpose had been to serve the Master of the Valley initially, so it had magically sown together several of the best-fitting creatures for the job to create an intimidating mishmash. Mother nature, however, seemed to have other ideas and a different fate for one in particular.
He blinked. He couldn’t understand her. She seemed confused or lost, though, judging from just her tone. He stared down at her, as lost at her words as she was in her surroundings.

blondchiroptera:
A nose presses against his back, warm breath puffing out and then a sharp inhale. It does nothing to startle Chuck, realizing the toriko is sniffing at him too. This was all good signs and it easily coaxes the blond into continuing his attentions, clicking softly. Though that changes at the drawn out but gentle lick, the bat freezing for a couple seconds and shuddering at the warm, gooey feeling of saliva sticking to his fur.
Eugh, ok, that would take some getting used to. Definitely.
Hopefully that would dry fast.
Looking up, blinking as another warm gust of breath rushes over his face and chest. That, too, was going to take a bit of getting used to. The fact remains that the bat feels safe now. So it’s without any real prompt that he hops, grabbing hold of Trico’s feathers and beginning to clamber up toward the beast’s back. This seemed like an arrangement that could work out. At the very least, it gave him someone to spend time with.
“Kwrrrr!”
Having picked up on the other’s discomfort, he turns his head, facing forward, and sits down as they attempt to climb him, making it easier for them to latch their strange claws onto finicky feathers. Their climbing reminds him too heavily of his Boy and he blinks, the corners of his maw twitching downward for a moment as he’s taken back to the past, of happy times before. He can still smell the ancient spruce of the barrels, he can still hear the word ‘to--ri--co’ spilling from the child’s lips like it happened hours ago. He’s taken back for just a second.
And like that, he’s back from what stole him away to deeper corners of his mind. Attentive now, his eyes flicked with small yellow spots, he chuffed, his ears drawing back as he did so. They straightened and he shook his head, loose feathers slowly arcing towards the dirt. Flicking his tail, he pushes himself up off his haunches and releases a short affirmative howl in attempt to make sure the other is secure on his back -- if that is where they wish to reside, for the time being, he will allow it, as he could barely tell they were there.

savior-of-humanity:
The boy squeaked a little as he was picked up by the collar of his shirt, not unlike that of a cat’s scruff, as he was placed on the ledge. He’d see the hole and quickly understood.
“Oh! I’ll look for something that’ll help us out, I’ll be back!” He chirped before wriggling through the hole. He wasn’t sure if they could dig out the rubble; those stones had to be awfully heavy. Unless there was a hidden door mechanism somewhere or something, but that was unlikely.
Through the crack in those ancient, musty tanned walls was an even more ancient, musty, natural area that bridged the gap between what appeared to be several primitive buildings -- there was no way to escape it to the outside world yet. The farther John ventured from the man-eating beast, the colder his surroundings were becoming, until it became cold enough that he could see his breath when he exhaled and there was no green plant life scrawling through threatening cracks.
The massive torico’s whining due to the other’s absence could barely be noticed, the distance they had put between each other quite large.
What was in front of him now was a dead end with a large, tight crevice down the center. It looked absolutely mystical and was a blueish white, almost as if to be composed of some sort of crystal or heavily unpolished ice. He could probably fit through it if he could flatten himself enough and hold his breath.

skylie-clearwater:
Skylie yelped as the water sloshed about, and went stiff when she saw what caused it: a massive, dog-like creature. With feathers, no less. She held onto her barrel, squeezing her eyes shut.
The child gave a whimper when she was picked up. Skylie was relieved and surprised, however, when she was gently set down on solid ground. Her head turned to gaze up at the beast. Red-pink eyes blinked slowly.
“What… What are you…”
She was almost afraid to move much. While he had just saved her, what if he still decided to eat her? That was her main worry.
Disregarding her personal space (the Boy had never had any bubble to infiltrate,) he moved his black maw inches away from the child’s face, large nostrils puffing warm air onto her as he examined her scent-wise. It didn’t hurt, and his breath smelled flowery -- it tickled. Pulling back with a whine, he moved backwards to give her space.
There was nowhere for her to run -- she was trapped on her little ledge, and the only way she’d get off was with his help, although this hadn’t been purposeful; it was the first ledge he saw.
At her comment directed at his stature, Trico chuffed and stood up straight, water splashing as he cocked his head to the left. He didn’t quite understand her question, but he knew she was confused. Sitting down again, he gave a low croon of confusion, lime-green eyes illuminating her like flashlights.
