8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

Wattpad migrants calling their fics "books" isn't the end of the world, actually. They wrote a bunch of words? And it's one coherent story? Congrats! Fic! Book! Whichever one, it really does not matter. "b-but, it's not printed and bound—" original fiction that only sees a digital release is still called a book, so that argument is invalid. Let the Wattpadders and those who originated there have their fun.

JOE HILLS SUPER HOSTILE ANGST BABEY. The fandom is all about Grian's sad pre-hermitcraft backstory but the other hermits can have trauma too!!!! (Minor tangent: that's also why I'm a big big fan of people writing Crafting Dead!Scar)

Anyone-else-who-played-super-hostile angst, tbh. (I'm just a Joe Hills fan first and a human second.) My friend Waffle (@aplatypusshapedkite) and I have an entire AU about this one, featuring primarily Joe, Cleo, Doc, and Xisuma going through the absolute ringer (irl Doc has not played super hostile, but he's a major character in this AU). Part of the planning document is a *huge* timeline from the first hermit to ever play a super hostile map (Joe) to the last (xB), overlayed with a timeline of all the Hermitcraft seasons one to eight. Every player has all their playthroughs hyperlinked to YouTube playlists with all the episodes. And it's color-coded <3

(And to avoid having to address Grian's traumatic backstory in Super Hostile AU, Waffle and I decided that EVO was one big larping server. Grian was invited to hermitcraft and "joined the watchers" as an excuse to write his character out of the story bc he's too dedicated to his nerd craft to simply leave his arc and relationships hanging. This is the most well-adjusted and least traumatized Grian we have ever written.)
