i feel like not enough people are talking about pili and pangi's whole 'im a bad person' 'yeah im aware' talk yesterday.

i really loved it. i feel like the assumption from a lot of people, pili included and ros as an example, think pangis just kind of a victim in all of this. swept up with the wrong people, incapable of pulling away.

that whole little conversation was showing pangi is Extremely aware of the company he keeps. he KNOWS pili is a bad person, that he's done things that are selfish and stupid sometimes. he Doesn't care.

like from Day 1 pangi had been so achingly alone and out of everyone who was there, not a single person stuck around besides pili. pili chose him, so now pangi chooses pili over and over and over again

because for all the 'good' people out there it was only 1 person who decided to pick him back and that mattered more to him then whether he was good.

This is a 2012 take I've had for a while now, and I'm so happy I made art about it today because I genuinely love talking about it !! 🗣️

This isn't meant to be 2012 Leo slander whatsoever, because I adore him and don't think he's terrible or anything (He's literally my favorite pick for the 2012 Turtles-) ! But I do feel that he admittedly had a lot of poor leadership moments at times (Especially in late Season 3 to Season 4- 💀), and I feel like a lot of the burden of having things accessible / ready / or even remotely feasible in order to have Leo's plans actually work out fell on Donnie. Without much appreciation or acknowledgment of that fact from Leo or anyone else for that matter.

I feel like if any of the brothers had a right to argue with Leo about leadership or how things were being run under him, it should have been Donnie, because Donnie had more than enough of a leg to stand on for that argument. I'm not trying to invalidate Raph's feelings or perspective, because I'm not saying I don't understand the angle of him being upset about Leo's blatant favoritism when it came to their Father and that being a big reason why he was so obstinate with Leo- But that aside, I don't feel like he had much of an argument to make when it came to presenting himself as a better option as far as leadership-?? I get retconning canon and that this could've just been the writers depicting Raph in a way that some of you may disagree with, but if we're basing this opinion on the Season 1 episode, "New Girl In Town", we can clearly see that he wasn't very well equipped to fill that role in the way that Leo was. And speaking of that particular episode, it was actually Donnie who stepped up when things were getting really bad with Snakeweed in the sewers- 👀

This is why I depict Raph in this scenario accepting this outcome and not being super defensive or acting like he should be included in the conversation, because I kind of have him admit that he wasn't the best at it-!

I'm also sorry, because there was so much more I wanted to draw, and instead of being able to show those things I'm just going to say them here-! For example, Splinter's involvement in the situation. I pretty much don't have him do anything about the unanimous vote, because in his eyes, this team's dynamic / structure is this team's business and he doesn't really have a place to say whether or not they change who leads the team. Sure he chose Leo in the beginning, but if they decide to come to a different decision, they're fully in the right to do that. So Leo couldn't exactly get Splinter to come to his defense,, 👍 || I also wanted to show more of Donnie and Leo both being pretty content with this new dynamic change after a while ! I somewhat got to explore that with the last image of Leo being able to fully explore his hobby / interest in astronomy, but I also wanted to show Donnie feeling very fulfilled and respected within this group of siblings and friends now that he is the team leader, with that being really satisfying for him ! || I also wanted to show Donnie having his first leader breakdown post the Kraang Invasion of Season 2, with Leo comforting him at the Farmhouse and expressing empathy having been in his position many many times before,, He just never really told his brothers about it because he didn't want them to worry and he honestly felt ashamed for breaking down so much,, <:/

Also, you know I can't resist putting 2012 Jonatello in everything I make, so of course this is going to have Jonatello moments too ! I just didn't get around to it yet- One of those things was going to be Casey becoming the second mechanic in the group in order to take off some of the work load on Donnie since now he's juggling even more than he used to-! The way Casey expresses not only concern but so much support for Donnie gives Donnie butterflies, okay- 👀💜🖤✨ Lmao

I guess the last thing I'll mention is kind of April's role and everything, since I want her to join Mikey in encouraging Leo to really explore himself as an individual now that he doesn't have to be defined by the leadership role anymore ! She's very supportive of him just being able to be himself and figure that out during this time ! But I also wanted her to better explain to Leo why she also agreed with this leadership change, since I can see him feeling a little betrayed by her. With Leo most likely assuming that she would have tried to reason with Donnie or get him to see a different side of the situation. I wanted to be very clear that she did not agree with Donnie because she felt bad for him or because of the weird crush he had on her and she didn't know how to be honest with him, etc. etc., you know what I mean? 👍✨

Pathetic.

That’s how Isagi felt; truly and utterly pathetically in love.

It was foolish of him, really, falling for his childhood best friend. The one person who knew him better than anyone else, the one constant in his life. And yet, he had fallen anyway.

He had known you since before you could even string proper sentences together, back when the biggest problem in your tiny world was who got to play with the fluffy teddy bear. He had been there for every phase of your life, just as you had been for his.

The bad haircuts, the breakouts, the braces. The cringe stylistic choices that made you both groan whenever old pictures resurfaced. The triumphs and failures, the reckless dreams and harsh realities. Every best and worst moment you had been by each other’s side.

And because of that, maybe he should have realized sooner.

Your parents, his parents, had always teased. “You two will end up together eventually.” A statement so casual, so inevitable in their wise eyes. Maybe that was why he held back for so long. Maybe it was out of sheer defiance, or maybe it was the terrifying truth that you already saw him. Every flaw, every insecurity, every crack in his carefully built walls.

And yet, you still chose to stay.

To love someone who truly sees you, all of you, and still stays by your side? That scared the shit out of him.

But Blue Lock is over now. He felt like he had aged thirty years in that soccer prison, but it had been worth it. Because now, he was here. Walking freely through the streets with the weight of his dream in his hands. He was part of Japan’s World Cup team.

Isagi exhaled slowly, running a hand through his hair as he stared at the selection of flowers before him.

He had faced some of the greatest strikers in the world. Outwitted geniuses on the field. Fought, struggled, won.

And yet, confessing to you on Valentine’s Day? Felt like the biggest challenge he had to yet face.

“Roses are too much, right?” he mumbled under his breath, shifting his weight from foot to foot as he stared at the bouquets like they were an opposing team’s defensive lineup. Puzzle pieces hardly connecting in his brain. “I mean… yeah, they literally scream romance, but isn’t that kind of obvious? Too predictable? Shit.”

The old lady behind the counter glanced at him, unimpressed. She had seen countless lovesick fools in this exact position before, hell, today alone and Isagi fell right into that category.

Tulips? Too plain. Sunflowers? You might think he was calling you bright and cheerful, which—yeah, fair, but what if you took it as a joke? Lilies? What do lilies even mean?!

“You need help?” the florist finally asked, raising an eyebrow.

“No,” he admitted immediately. “I mean—yes? No. I’m just trying to figure out what flowers match a card that I, uh, may or may not have rewritten six times… as a valentines gift. Which turned out fine! I think. Maybe. Hopefully.”

The florist hummed, giving him a long, knowing look before glancing at the selection in front of her. “Alright, what kind of message are we going for here? Romantic? Sweet? ‘I’ve been in love with you since childhood and only just realized it because I’m a dumbass’?”

Isagi choked. “Why would you say it like that?!”

She gave him the flattest stare of his life. “Because that’s exactly what’s happening.”

He groaned, running a hand down his face. “Okay, yeah, fair point.”

The florist smirked before plucking a bouquet from the display. “Here. Go with these. A mix of daisies, lavender and forget-me-nots. It says you care, but you’re not coming on too strong. Subtle romance, but meaningful. Perfect for an idiot in denial.”

He took the bouquet, staring at it like it held the secrets of the universe. “Huh. Yeah. This… this actually works. How did you—”

“Experience, kid. Now go before you start overthinking again.”

Isagi nodded, clutching the flowers like they were the winning ball in a match. Alright. Flowers? Check. Card? Done—well, kind of. Cake? As good as it was gonna get.

Now, he just had to actually go back home and give them to you.

…Oh, shit.

This was really happening.

This might actually kill him.

He is pretty sure his heart is beating faster than the last goal he scored while playing for bastard münchen. He feels like throwing up. Was this normal? Probably not. But despite everything he wants you to know. He needs you to know that at the end of the day, pathetic or not, Isagi Yoichi is in love with you. And it was damn time he did something about it.

But for his luck, as he walked out of the flower shop, he almost crashed into someone.

“I am so—“ before he could even get the words out his soul almost came out of his body.

YOU. Out of everyone, you. In front of him. With a bouquet of flowers too. Wait, FLOWERS? Who— you…. Did— who gave you those?

“Yoichi” you say, words coming out slightly higher pitched than intended, trying to act normal, but you’re pretty sure the panicked expression you were trying to fight off with a smile came off more as you were constipated, more than anything else.

“Y/n” he says, seemingly unaware of your mental state, thankfully? Or maybe you should be worried that he was so oblivious to it.

“ Are you g—“

“Who— gave you those?” He said so quickly, not even allowing you to finish your sentence.

Your eyes fall to the flowers in your arms, if your cheeks weren’t red before, you’re pretty sure they are now.

“Who gave you those?” you say, nodding to the flowers he had in his arms. Trying to change the subject.

“I asked first.”

“I asked second”

A moment of silence before you two burst out laughing from the strange moment.

“Alright— alright. On the count of three? Together?” You says amused

One. Two. Three.

“I got them from you” you two say in unison.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

That’s what his brain was screaming. He probably looked like an absolute moron, standing there with a confused expression and jaw open as he looked at you. Huh? Him? YOU GOT FLOWERS FOR HIM— AKCKEPWLCNGIVVIFNRNWPW.

“You— eh?”

That was it. That was all his brain could come up with. World-class striker, future ace of Japan, but the second you said you got flowers for him? Immediate system failure.

You smiled, shy but warm, the edges of your expression softening in that way that was playful yet so beautiful. It made his heart feel like it was about to spontaneously combust. “Yeah, you—is that so weird?”

Yes. No. Maybe. His brain was still rebooting.

“You—you got me flowers?” he repeated, as if the words might make more sense if he said them out loud.

“I mean, yeah,” you said, shifting your weight from foot to foot. The bouquet in your arms crinkled as you fidgeted with the wrapping. “It’s Valentine’s Day, isn’t it? I figured i had to be clear because you’re so dense sometimes.”

“I’m not dense!” he argued immediately.

You raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.

“Okay, fine. Maybe a little dense,” he admitted, scratching the back of his neck. His heartbeat pounded in his ears, drowning out the rest of the world. “But—wait, why did you…?”

The words hung heavy in the air. Why did you get me flowers?

You took a shaky breath. “Because I like you, idiot.”

“I—wait—what?” He blinked, gripping his bouquet tighter like it might hold him upright. “Like… like-like?”

“Damn… and you say you aren’t dense” a small snort left your lips. “Yes, like-like!” you huffed, but your voice trembled a little. “I’ve… kinda liked you for a while. And I figured—if I didn’t say anything today, I’d probably chicken out forever and cry myself to sleep for the next month. Maybe two.”

“You like me,” he repeated dumbly, trying to wrap his head around it.

You tilted your head, exasperated. “Yoichi, please tell me those flowers are for me or am I about to die of embarrassment right now?”

“What? NO—I mean, yes! Yes, I like you too!” The words practically exploded out of him, way louder than he meant to. “I’ve liked you since—God, I don’t even know when. Probably since that stupid teddy bear fight when we were kids.. And—” Lord, he is rambling now. “And I have made you a card. A beautiful one, I think you will like it. And a cake. Though I burnt it the first time. Maybe the second time too. But, fuck yes, I like you too”

For a second, neither of you said anything. You just stood there, two idiots clutching flowers, blushing like middle schoolers with their first crushes.

Finally, you exhaled, shaking your head as you tried not to laugh. “Wow. We’re really bad at this.”

“Yeah,” he agreed, grinning so wide his cheeks hurt. “But, like… at least we’re bad at it together?”

You rolled your eyes, but the teasing smile tugging at your lips was impossible to hide. “Together, huh?”

“I mean… if you want that. If you want me.” He said, trying not to look more giddy than he already is.

“I wouldn’t be standing here holding flowers and trying to not burst into flames after a confession that I definitely did not rehearse in my head twenty times for you if I didn’t, genius.”

In a rush of courage, Isagi moved closer and wrapped his arms around you, bouquets squished in between your guys’ chests. You smelled like warmth and home.

“Can I—uh,” he pulled back just enough to meet your gaze, “can I kiss you?”

“Yoichi, if you don’t kiss me after all that, I’ll start overthinking and we know—.”

He doesn’t need anything else. His smile shushed you, as his lips finally met yours in a kiss that was a bit messy, yet soft and sweet. You tasted like that tea you like so much. A mix of honey, flowers and sugar that makes him greedy for more. Despite being in the middle of the sidewalk and in retrospect, he will for sure be embarrassed about the pda later.

But that’s a problem for later. Because the realisation that fuck yes, he is finally kissing you, settles in. And for the first time that day, but perhaps in his entire life, his brain went completely and blissfully quiet.

what would have happened in leviathan

actually, i may as well type this up now, since if i say "eh i'll do it later" it'll probably never happen at this point, so.

like i've said in many posts, i don't know a lot of what would have Specifically Happened in leviathan. i started writing it with no plan, and only decided to come up with concrete things as time went on. most of what i wrote down has been lost to time and digital decay; i no longer have access to the high school onenotes and sketchbooks i planned a lot in. but i still remember some things, even now. so let's discuss.

THE DEAL WITH BIT: bit was "retro's kid". he'd been kidnapped at a young age to be used as a living battery for retro's inventions, which he would use for, well, villainous purposes. bit had discovered an ability to override inventions he was powering. retro had wanted bit back to see his full capabilities. literally... i think the next chapter of the fic would have been shigaraki settling debts, and sending kurogiri to kidnap bit. izuku would have jumped through the portal after him, getting both of them captured. kurogiri, in a hurry and frustrated, would have ended up giving them both over to retro, then leaving. the subsequent sequence would have involved izuku panicking and accidentally revealing to bit that he was the leviathan. bit would have said that he'd known, or at least suspected. they'd then later team up to take down retro, with izuku forced to re-awaken the parts of the leviathan he'd been surpressing. bit would have served as... something of an anchor for the rest of the story. the only person who knew, but bizarrely (to izuku), didn't blame him for any of it. this would have been a point of contention between them, at times.

sometime after this, blade (who lost an arm to the leviathan) would have been released from the hospital. he would have gone to the league of villains to share his discovery that izuku was the leviathan, startling them. all for one would have found this incredibly interesting and decidede to observe izuku closely going forward before making a move. (shigaraki and kurogiri are pissed. they JUST HAD HIM. and they gave him to RETRO, who FUCKED IT UP.)

UA SPORTS FESTIVAL

really the only thing i remember about this was that izuku was effectively immune to shinsou's quirk. his constant mental battle made him essentially a psychological brick wall; he could shrug shinsou off like it was nothing, to shinsou's frustration.

he would have allowed shinsou to mind control him during the actual SF fight round, losing early on. he'd never really properly explain why to shinsou, frustrating him. i think shinsou ends up being the one to fight todoroki and them having A Moment? because izuku is really not the one for like. the evil quirk conversation, ha. todoroki comes to some revelations about his quirk and his personhood, but still lets shinsou win to stick it to his dad. this is... kind of bad for shinsou's plan of not showing people how his quirk works, but he's 14 and riding that attention high for all it's worth.

INTERNSHIPS / VS STAIN ARC

don't remember like. most of this. but izuku would have interned with ryuko tatsuma (the dragon shapeshifter lady) in hopes that her quirk worked a little like his, but would have come up empty. he would have been in hosu for the attacks, and joined iida and todoroki in taking down stain. that fight would have been pretty brutal, with stain fascinated by izuku. he'd give his whole who deserves to be a hero spiel, which izuku would have torn to shreds, ending with the lines,

"but above all, there's on reason i know that your method of choosing who deserves to be a hero is wrong." "and why is that?" "you chose me."

FOREST TRAINING ARC

i think this was where the mall sequence was? regardless, at the mall, shinsou is approached by shigaraki, who would grin at him and say some incomprehensible things about him being a "god tamer" and "friend to the most powerful monster in the world". he'd mention this later to midoriya, which sends him into a paranoia spiral.

and then there's all the forest training stuff, izuku is incredibly off-kilter the whole time and kind of manic, and of couuuurse he would have been the one targeted by the league of villains and kidnapped out from under everyone's noses. they panic.

after getting everyone (that they have) home, and contacting authorities (including my lovely naomasa <3 miss you baby) they would have gotten a video call from an unknown number. all for one would have spoken to them all directly, before cutting to a video feed of izuku in an enormous cell, where he would have been forced to activate his quirk, revealing him to be the leviathan to UA staff and some authorities. all for one would have thanked the heroes kindly for holding him for a while, and said that he'll take it from here.

all for one would then have taken the leviathan quirk from izuku. however, when he'd attempt to use it himself, he'd find it only a mild shapeshifting quirk; the ability to turn a little lizard-y and cough some sparks, but nothing more. out of fascination, he'd give the quirk back to izuku, and find the usual monster awaiting. he'd take and give izuku various different quirks, and find all of them effectively superpowered out of control. fascinated, he'd leave izuku with the leviathan quirk and send his scientists in to do some tests.

the following revelation would be twofold. all for one's scientists would discover that izuku's body was constantly maintaining a high density of [insert chemical here]-- the same active ingredient in the drug trigger. inko midoriya would also reveal to someone (maybe an undercover operative?) that she'd been a victim of the trigger attacks (from BNHA Vigilantes, which I loved at the time, ha) while she was pregnant with izuku. the effects of trigger on a pregnant person had never been even considered, let alone documented. the result was a child with a permanently trigger-ified quirk that went out of control the second it manifested. they tell izuku this and he's like ...oh.

HIDEOUT RAID ARC

the heroes are obviously assembling to raid afo's hideout POSTHASTE, with the heavy awareness of Just How Badly This Could Go hanging heavy over their heads. like canon, the kids also decide to go help and rescue izuku, joined by bit! who is laughingly Extremely Wary about the whole thing, and kind of vaguely implying that they should be ready for something bad. they yell at him for being a pessimist. he stays quiet.

i don't remember exactly how this went in canon but the opening at least would be similar enough to that. Big Fight, kids manage to rescue izuku, whatever. then they look up, and afo is kind of mopping all might.

izuku would have tried to run back into the fray. shinsou would gone after him to stop him, but izuku would have shaken him off, revealed himself to be the leviathan (with the air of a goodbye), and gone full-transformation. this would have revealed his identity to shinsou and his other ua friends, with bit there to explain a little bit to try and calm them down.

izuku, working together with the leviathan for the first time and thus able to actually kind of control himself, would have been able to work together with all might to just fucking smash afo. battle of the gods, in a way. all for one would have died here (at all might's hands. no more grief for the kiddo.) and izuku ends a fight conscious and in control of himself, for once.

after everything, izuku is taken into custody (bit is VOCALLY against this but overridden) and placed in a holding cell with quirk suppressants (which is weirdly nice! it shouldn't be! but it is!) where he talks to naomasa. he comes clean about everything, including what he's learned about the permanent trigger enhancement. naomasa is APPALLED, and is like, sorry? you've been on trigger constantly since you were four? and izuku's like yyyeaahhh haha. and naomasa is ... frankly horrified, by all of it, but promises to get him help.

and they do! izuku goes on quirk suppressants, since there's no real... trigger suppressant in existence, yet (they have to play with the dosage a bit). they also kind of realize "the leviathan" (the one in izuku's head) is... basically how his brain has learned to conceptualize what's happening to him. and even then, the leviathan isn't evil; it's just overwhelmed, in pain, and scared. izuku comes to terms with all of this, which combined with the medication, makes it possible for him to comfortable control his quirk for the first time in his life.

he tells his mom everything, she's horrified, they cry about it. he tells his friends everything, they forgive him. he talks to bit. he even talks to blade in jail, i think. but he goes forward with an actual support system, and does end up being the underground hero he always wanted to be, with a focus on kids and people with "out of control" quirks who people want to write off.

misc emotional beats:

shinsou would have assumed izuku's repression of the leviathan (post USJ) to be an attempt to stop reminding them about the leviathan; he would have told izuku off for beating himself up for having a "villanous quirk", said some flowery stuff about self-perception, and told him that he was nothing like the leviathan. ouch.

while the story would have been gen, izuku and shinsou would have gotten a lot closer. i was (and honestly? still am!) a big shindeku fan and think they have a fun dynamic, in canon and aus. this would have been interesting, because it would have led to a lot of miscommunication irt izuku trying to hold shinsou at arm's length because of his leviathan guilt, and shinsou not understanding why. maybe they could have had a big fight about it right before izuku gets kidnapped during the training camp arc.

izuku would have gotten closer with iida and uraraka as well, explored some of their issues/ todoroki.... maybe? i'm not sure. i have terminal "gets annoyed by the most popular ship in a fandom" disease, so i was never a huge tododeku guy. but they probably could have had something interesting.

i think izuku and naomasa were also supposed to talk a little more? since naomasa was one of the people present at OG leviathan incident, their relationship was meaningful. also i just really like naomasa, as people may remember.

i legit have no idea what would have happened with bakugou. i didn't really... care about him, then? and i don't really now (though i'm much more ambivalent than i used to be lol). he might have gotten some occasional beats of self-reflection, but i wasn't ever really that interested in giving him a Big Coming Around Arc. i do in retrospect think I could have; putting him in 1-B set up an interesting situation for him to be with the """"lesser"""" crowd and learn to see them as people, and himself as one, too.

mirio gets all for one, most likely. or kirishima, or something. maybe he offers it to izuku, but izuku is like HELL NOOOO. sorry. no thank you.

and... that's that. it's weird to write all this out. this is actually the first time i've ever seen it all laid out. there's probably some stuff i'm forgetting, and maybe i'll come back and update later, but this is fine for now.

this story... was never meant to be about anything, really. i just started writing it because i wanted to write a bnha fanfic, and i liked quirk!izuku aus. all impulse, all just vibes. i still think it's not necessarily a Big Meaningful Message. but i was talking to people the other night about stuff, and realized something, kind of. when i was writing all of this, I had no idea. but in the time since, i've been diagnosed with a mild-ish form of psychosis and OCD.

so... make of that what you will.

-canonically grew up in the deep south in a town literally named after a confederate general. yeah he’s got some deep-seated issues to work through. being friends with lemar helped him become more open-minded growing up, especially after lemar came out and made john realize that not all gay people were exactly the same.

-but being with olivia since high school, he never had to confront the part of himself that wanted to go against the traditional life he was taught to value. after spending time with the TBs though? seeing them all so comfortable makes him think it might actually be time to embrace it.

-will repost some of yelena/ava/others content in support, but mostly stays quiet on social media. unfortunately still reads everything about himself while lurking.

-comes out as bi to bob very randomly and awkwardly one night. bob just kinda shrugs and goes “okay, cool” but he’s actually really flattered john chose him out of everyone to come out to first. john came out to bob first because he wants to kiss him.

-he denies having a crush to himself for so long, but every time bob smiles at him, his heart tightens. he becomes a weird combo of sassier than usual and also uncharacteristically complimentary towards bob. basically, it’s obvious, and everyone on the team knows it. they call them out for constantly flirting via play fighting and both go red.

-pansexual with a stronger preference for men, genderqueer. surprisingly confident about it given that he’s confident about literally nothing else. has taken so much abuse for it and everything else about him that he’s kind of immune to anything nasty anybody could say to him online. already worked through his insecurities about his sexuality and is just chilling. has the most dating experience out of all of them, somehow.

-he has social media, but he tries to stay off of it as much as possible. will post one thing randomly and then stay offline for another 2 months. all of his reposts are in support of the other TBs though, he loves his friends. very occasionally puts a really funny gay meme or reaction image on his story and the people beg for more of his humor.

-thinks he caught feelings for john first. he didn’t. by the time bob realizes their fights have turned into playful bickering and he’s the only one john buys chocolate chips for to put in his pancakes, his teammate has already fallen for him a long time ago. john is strong and blond and bob stares at him far too often.

-ends up being the one to admit his feelings first, somewhat accidentally and in a very bob way. he’s all panicked before john leans in and kisses him. after that, the two are rarely separated. it’s not the easiest relationship; they’ve both got a lot of baggage, but they care so much for the other person that they’re both willing to work through it together.

“You are presenting, and you have chosen to do it in the base,” Red Tornado says. “Presumably you chose to do that because Project Cadmus lacked something you require for the process.” 

“I . . .” Kon hesitates again, biting the inside of his lip. “I just–I just didn’t wanna do it there, okay? That’s–s’all.” 

Red Tornado looks at him. Kon really wishes the guy had a scent that he could read. Or like–at least a fucking expression or something. Like just–literally anything, right now. 

“You appear to be nesting,” Red Tornado observes. “Are you an omega, then?” 

“. . . I guess,” Kon mumbles, swallowing roughly. And it feels–it feels weird, saying it to someone. Even after saying it to himself and the Super-Cycle already. 

Red Tornado can tell him what he thinks about him saying that to him, is the thing. And whatever he thinks, it’s not going to be what Kon thinks himself.

Like–obviously it’s not, yeah. 

“You are in possession of sufficient nesting material, then?” Red Tornado asks, and Kon tries not to bristle. It’s–it’s just a question, maybe. Probably. Not one he knows why Red Tornado’s asking, but–just a question. 

Unless it’s a trap, anyway. 

“I just–borrowed some stuff,” he says without saying anything about–about just what he’s really “borrowing”, and he maybe sounds a little bit too defensive about it, but . . . but that’s all he did, dammit. He didn’t do anything–bad or anything. “S’all. I’ll scent-scrub all the pheromones and shit off when I’m done, alright? I’m not messin’ anything up or anything, it’s fine.” 

They wouldn’t care, he tries to say, but he doesn’t know–he doesn’t actually know that. Doesn’t actually know if . . . if they’d care. If they’d–mind.

Would they be mad, if they found out he came to the base to present and then tracked down and took all their scents? Like–without asking, or . . . 

They’re not a pack. And the others all have packs. And in all their heads he’s just, like, the stupid bruiser teammate who’s only barely a friend that none of them trust to be in charge of the team even though he’s literally the only one who actually has been in charge of a team before and who they probably all think’s an alpha anyway and–and– 

“Yes,” Red Tornado says. “But is ‘some stuff’ sufficient for your nest?” 

“I . . .” Kon–falters, kinda, and maybe sinks in on himself a little again. Does–does it look that bad? He knows he didn’t get much stuff for it, but–but if it looks that bad . . . 

“Kathy prefers to layer her nests with multiple fabrics and cushioning,” Red Tornado says. “And Traya and her friends line theirs with plush toys when engaging in playing ‘house’ together. I am otherwise unfamiliar with the necessary components of their construction.” 

“. . . oh,” Kon realizes, and feels a little less–a little less embarrassed, at least. At least if Red Tornado doesn’t really know how it’s supposed to go either . . . well, he can’t think it looks that bad, if he doesn’t really know. Right? “Uh–I don’t . . . I dunno. I never . . . did it, before.” 

Red Tornado tilts his head. Kon represses a cringe, trying not to bristle. Well–he wasn’t presented before, so . . . so why would he have? 

“I was under the impression that most omega pups experience a compulsion to nest even before their presentation,” Red Tornado says. 

“Well, I didn’t,” Kon snaps at him, digging his fingers into Cassie’s folded-up shirt and–and not-really-on-purposely pinning it against his chest. 

Hugging it against his . . . against his . . . 

He’d just–he’d just . . . thought about it, a couple times. But he . . . he hadn’t felt any stupid compulsions or . . . 

Kon thinks about how many times he’d thought about nesting, and how many times he’d thrown all his blankets in the corner and made himself sleep on a half-stripped bed and nothing else, and how many times he’d thrown every blanket he could find on his bed and slept under them all at once, and how he’d always . . . always folded his jacket into a pillow, when he was . . . when he was . . . sleeping somewhere else, like on the road or on shoots or in the field or . . . 

He thinks about how many times he’d wanted to . . . wanted to watch one of those nesting videos, but–hadn’t. 

Then he thinks about crying, maybe. 

“I thought I was gonna be an alpha,” he croaks, trying to figure out if–if this makes him a bad omega after all, or–or something. If he didn’t . . . didn’t nest before, or . . . “I thought I . . . thought I . . .”

I thought I HAD to be an alpha, Kon doesn’t say, but it’s all he can think.

yandere tf2 y/n idea?

I was thinking about tf2 recently and thought about a y/n idea for yandere stories. Hopefully you guys like it

For this one it's kinda the new mercenary of the team. They use the suit of tfc medic as miss Pauling was in a rush and gave that to y/n before having to go somewhere so y/n uses the suit but with some small modifications to it but it's mostly the same as it's hard to modify something that was specifically made for this job. As now no one has ever saw their real face as they always have the mask on even when having the helmet off, the mask stays on and many are curious about what they look like but no one will really know (except for Pauling but she doesn't tell anyone). But I was looking at the old abilities of the medic and I saw that one is basically if a enemy medic were to use their heal ability on the enemy, it would actually poison them or something but the affect will go away if the enemy's own medic were to heal them and I like to think that's one of this y/n's abilities if they are able to hit the enemy with this kinda short get away to hurt the enemy team. Their class is kinda a mix of medic and scout as they are kinda half as fast as scout but mostly to get away if things get to heavy but their primary weapon is a shotgun and pistol with their Melee (you can chose what they have) but when it's a free day, y/n mostly stays around pyro (pyro stays around them as pyro really likes y/n)

The other mercenaries like y/n as they are kinda quiet and aren't like a second scout. Y/n is mainly apart of the blue team so y/n's medic isn't really that insane (that's what y/n mostly sees but yeah) and they are a kind of nurse for medic and so everyone calls them, Nurse or something that even though their actual class is just called backup (I'm very bad at names so please bare with me) Soldier likes y/n and they don't know what specifically soldier likes about them but just goes with it. Y/n sometimes treats soldier like a literal drill Sargent and is scared of getting screamed at. Sniper like y/n because they don't really bother him but when they do is when they are in a middle of a battle and y/n is feeling tired and takes a rest for a bit with sniper before scout begins to scream for y/n and they go back out. Scout likes y/n cause medic has them do the kind of checkups on the team and always gives him a lollipop cause the new guy who praised him for helping and giving him candy, he likes them already plus he talks with y/n a lot but so do the other mercenaries as y/n kinda being the only non lunatic in this place and having a actual medical license so y/n is actually a good listener and actually knows how to deal with some medical stuff. Also they give all their mercenaries lollipops after each check up even medic gets one.

But of course the red teams also likes y/n as their nurse is kinda more cold and doesn't like people but just does their job and goes like the complete opposite of the blues nurse (y/n was actually meant to go to the Red team but since Pauling was so busy at the time she only had the boxes of stuff that y/n and the red nurse needed at the time. But if she found out, she would have them swap. Miss Pauling needs a rest day at least.) That once y/n was in middle of a battle and was basically knocked out and was just a head as they didn't really believe blue spy about how the red medic kept his head at the base one time but now y/n was in that position but instead of having to be kept in the mini fridge red medic has, it was more of y/n being treated like they are apart of the team but mainly was stuck in the base and was absolutely horrified when y/n asked where their body was and red medic showed them that he has it in a fucking meat locker but medic makes sure that y/n's body is still functioning as of course he'll sew them back up soon but only when miss Pauling switches them to the Red team. Blue team does devise a plan to get y/n back and succeed but y/n has some scars around their neck but is alright with it.

(I love this guy. Plus I like the fit and wanted to do an y/n based off the tfc medic but yeah. But hopefully you guys like this yap session and if you want more of this please don't be shy and request any ideas for stories or y/n's you have. But for now please stay safe and drink!)

Collection of silly (and less silly) Shadow headcanons I simply cannot live without that live in my head rent-free forever-

Fangs! Fangs, fangs, fangs- And big bone-crushing carnassials. I don't have a lot to say about this one but just, Shadow with big stupid teeth, ya'll- (plus my lesser headcanon that he snarls and growls all the time because the scientists aboard the ARK couldn't decide whether to treat him like a sophont or like a feral animal, so they chose both and also neither, leaving his instincts confused and leading to him switching wildly between proper gentleman and Resident Semi-feral Alley Cat)

This motherfucker has a sweet-tooth. Especially chocolate. Maria snuck him his first piece after a particularly rough day of procedures and he's been hooked ever since, but literally anything sweet and sugary he's so down.

He's a really good cook! Like a really good cook. He can make something tasty out of almost anything, and is the de-facto chef for Team Dark. He saw Sonic microwaving some shitty dollar-store chili exactly one (1) time, said never again, and now he makes him chili and freezes bags of it for him to use on his chili-dogs. Amy likes to rope him into helping her cook for her parties, which he grumbles about but actually enjoys himself cooking while Amy bakes.

In game/comic-verses, he's either a vegetarian or tends toward vegetarianism. This comes from the Black Arms invasion, the things he saw and did under Doom's control, he can't get the sights and sounds and tastes out of his head. There are days its so bad he can only eat the blandest foods, I'm talking saltines and vegetable broth here, because the horrors hiding in his memories are too strong to overcome, some days. He will still cook meats for his friends, though, as long as he's not having one of his Bad Days (and someone else cuts it up for him). In all other verses where the Black Arms invasion didn't happen/hasn't happened yet, he is Uncomfortably Carnivorous and also Probably Eats Bones (hypercarnivore Shadow with bone-crushing carnassials and giant canines my beloved-)

In terms of environmental temperature, warm over cold, always. Cat rules apply, here. He hates, hates, being cold, probably comes from spending his formative years in the pod which I imagine was kept pretty warm, and despite his trauma with that, being surrounded by warmth is familiar and comforting. Also, procedure tables and surgical suites are cold, very cold (idk how many of you have had the pleasure of being in one awake and aware, but as a veterinary student, holy shit I freeze my ass off in there-) so being cold reminds of these too much.

He has old procedure scars under his fur and a pretty significant amount of medical trauma that makes hospitals his literal nightmare; also chronic neurogenic pain due to inappropriate/lack of intra-op analgesia. The ARK was hell, despite the fonder memories he may have of the Professor and of Maria. The Professor had strict rules on what procedures could be done and under what circumstances, but the other scientists and project heads are stubborn and don't have his attachment level to Shadow. Surgical procedures were some of the worst, especially exploratories and anesthetic-procedure-testing, which often went hand-in-hand and had very little pain control (this was the 50s after all, or 70s for movieverse, and lab-animal protections/veterinary analgesia protocols were Not It, the go-to was pretty much knock 'em down and who cares about silly things like wind-up pain-). As a result, he has surgical scars on midline/flank incision scars, as well as associated chronic neurogenic pain in these and other areas (joints were another favorite of the scientists-) due to the constant nerve stimulation. I could go on for days about wind-up pain and chronic neurogenic pain due to lack of appropriate analgesia ('going under' is more than just knocking out consciousness, my friends). Also the adhesions in his abdomen must be hell, so probably has some digestive issues that make his Bad Days about certain foods even worse.

He's bilingual English and Spanish, as well as fluent in whatever correlates to ASL in universe. The Spanish came from both her and the Professor. Maria in my headcanon is biracial, with her mother being Hispanic, so the Professor wanted her to be able to communicate to someone in her mother's birth language to help her feel more at home on the ARK. Maria taught him the ASL so they could talk when they weren't supposed to. The ASL plays well with one of my Sonic headcanons that the speedster sometimes gets too overstimulated/overwhelmed (ADHD is more than just squirrel! and i-can't-find-anything-im-so-silly moments, my friends-) and will sort of return to his selectively mute days. Shadow took notice during one of these episodes, repeated whatever he said before in sign so Sonic knew he could understand him, and the carried on whatever back-and-forth psuedo-argument they would have had anyways.

He is NOT a morning person, and tends to sleep in if he has the time- also, night-terrors. He's not one to laze around; once he's up, he's up, but he has trouble falling asleep (and staying asleep, honestly) so he's a slow-riser in the morning. This goes into him having nightmares and full one night-terrors, which is why he finds it even harder to sleep if he's sleeping next to someone; he hates showing weakness, and anyone seeing him in the throws of a night-terror, to him, is a humiliating prospect. In any verse with Sonadow or Shadamy (I love being a multi-shipper I eat so good on this site lol-) it takes him a long while before he's comfortable sleeping (literally sleeping, in this sense lol) next to them with any regularity.

Do NOT talk to him before he's had at least two cups of coffee, and the coffee better be blacker than his soul. Maybe a tiny splash of some basic ass creamer if he's feeling okay-er than usual. This goes along with the last point and kinda against the first point, but in the morning, he's out there fighting for this life lol. He just wants to be awake and get his wits about him, probably has a headache from not getting an actual rest, Do Not Interact (this goes double for Sonic's morning-person, chatty-Cathy, unmedicated-ADHD ass). He has sweeter type coffee drinks during the day sometimes as a treat, usually because Rouge or Sonic got them for him.

He listens to old crooners on a real, brass-horn gramophone. His favorite artist is Nat King Cole, but he listens to all sorts- Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, you name it. Swap this for 70's music on a tape deck for movie-verse. If he's alone, he'll sing along with them and actually has a very nice singing voice.

He's an avid reader. He used to sit and read all the time with Maria, especially on those days were her treatments and the procedures the scientists carried on him were too much for either of them to have energy leftover. He likes mystery novels and romances as his bread-and-butter comfort genres, but when he's feeling adventurous he'll read old myths or historical fiction (fantasy/medieval period-pieces are his favorites, King Arthur anyone?)

He watches telenovelas with Rouge, usually while drinking red wine. Or Stone for movie-verse, minus the wine cause child (probably gives him like bubbly grape juice). This is sort of coming from the bilingual thing, but also he's a ✨Dramatic✨ little creature, let's be real here- I mean he says things like "I'm the coolest" and calls himself the Ultimate Lifeform unironically. He plays it off as just watching with Rouge to help translate things for her since she's fluent but not as immersed in the context of the language as Shadow is, but it's usually him reminding her of new episodes coming out they need to watch.

He's a really, really good friend. He plays it off like he's not, like he's still a lone wolf out there on his own, but touch his friends and he will not hold back. He likes to hang out with Rouge and go shopping with her (again, claims it's just to keep an eye on her and keep the creeps away, but she always takes him to his favorite music shops and thrift stores, too). He spars with Omega or sometimes sits with him and just people-watches, since they're both sort of out here trying to learn (or in Shadow's case, re-learn) just how to be a person in modern society. As he gets closer with Sonic and Co., he finds he really loves Amy's company, too, and her perspectives on a lot of things are interesting to hear. Sparring with Knuckles is fun, too, almost as fun as sparring with Omega. He treasures his races with Sonic (pry this information from his cold dead body- or get him drunk and he might spill), and when they have quiet moments to sit under the stars, he might actually discover he has more in common with the speedster than he originally thought.

Okay so I've heard this said a bunch of times and I'm gonna admit I thought like that too for a while but no, Gi-hun did not win the games because he was lucky. A lot of people think that's how he won because he never killed anybody but that's really not the point. Gi-hun won the games because a) he's smart and is able to look at things from a different angle, b) because he is a good and kind person who also believes in others and c) because of the goodness and care get got back from other people.

In the first game he survived because Ali saved him and that wasn't luck, that was Ali being a good person and helping somebody not get killed. Ali could've not caught him, let him die, he didn't even know Gi-hun at all at that point and he put himself in more danger too by having to hold on to a person while standing completely still but he still saved Gi-hun because Ali is a good person.

In the Dalgona game he quite literally Was Not Lucky. He decided to go with the umbrella which is the worst shape to pick and he probably would have died if he hadn't looked at the game in a different way and decided to change his strategy. Gi-hun is smart. He is also optimistic and so he tried something new and found a different way to beat that game.

In the third game he survived because he was smart and kind enough to listen to Il-nam. The other people in their group dismissed him as just an old man speaking but Gi-hun didn't and that way they had a good strategy to beat the other team. The same goes for him listening to Sang-woo's idea of running three steps and then stopping, which ultimately was what saved them. His group also chose him as their leader (who, as Il-nam said, needs to not seem weak or loose hope because then the whole team is doomed). His team trusted in him and his optimism and they were right to do so.

In the marbles game he won because he was once again kind and decided to team up with Il-nam and also because in the end Il-nam decided to "sacrifice himself" for Gi-hun because he showed him kindness before. Yes Il-nam didn't actually die but he also knew that Gi-hun had cheated and still let him continue on to the next game, probably because Gi-hun had been good and kind and caring towards him before, even though he really didn't have to be. Gi-hun also didn't know this but by teaming up with Il-nam he inadvertently ensured that Il-nam had a lot more fun in the games than he would have had, had everybody just ignored to "old, fragile man". Gi-hun was good to Il-nam throughout all the games and it ended up saving him in the marbles game.

In the fifth game it's only some small moments as Gi-hun isn't really involved in the game because he's the last number but still it wasn't just luck. First of all he was kind enough to give the number 1 to the player that asked him for it. Yes, that number was bad but he didn't know that and had he been selfish enough to say no to that other player he wouldn't have survived. Being the last to play in any game can end up being bad for you, still he decided to give up the number he picked because the other player asked him to. Secondly he also survived that game because Sae-byeok was kind enough to remind him of which glass tile to step on after he had forgotten which one it was. It's only small but she didn't have to tell him and still she did. Sae-byeok btw is also good to him because before that he was good to her and protected her (even though he was angry at her at first) and that way he was able to gain her trust.

Lastly he won the Squid Game because Gi-hun was kind to Sang-woo and because Sang-woo deep down was still a good person. There were probably many reasons as to why Sang-woo decided to kill himself in the end but part of it, I'm sure, was also because Gi-hun was a good friend to him. I mean Gi-hun was even willing to give up all the money and go back home with nothing gained if it meant that Sang-woo didn't have to die and would be able to come home with him. Gi-hun deserved that win and that money and in the end Sang-woo knew that. He also knew that Gi-hun would make sure to take care of Sang-woo's mother and that he wouldn't just take all the money for himself because Sang-woo knew that Gi-hun is a good person. (Gi-hun technically also won the Squid Game because he was good at it which is also him being smart)

So in conclusion and I hope y'all haven't stopped reading yet: Gi-hun didn't win the games because he was lucky. He didn't just sit around doing nothing and won anyways. He won because he was smart but even more importantly he won because of the kindness and goodness that exists in humans and that is especially present in him. He won because he had empathy, because people trusted him, because he got back from them what he gave to them first. He never killed anyone and we can clearly see that he Could Never kill anyone in those games but that's not his weakness. Just because he didn't let himself get corrupted and turned into what the games wanted him to turn into doesn't mean he won because of luck. Him not playing by those subtle, hidden rules that are made to force him to be bad, to not care about others and to give up his kindness actually means he was better than the games. He won because he didn't let them turn him into a monster. They tried really hard and they failed and that's how he won!! But also on top of that he also won because he isn't the only good person in this show. He also won because other people helped him, were kind to him and gave a shit about him. Each and every person that helped Gi-hun didn't have to do that. They all could have not helped him, Ali could have not caught him, Sae-byeok could have not told him which one was the correct glass tile, hell, she could have Lied to him about it and the only difference it would have made for the other players would have been them being one more dead person closer to winning all that money. But that's really not how humans are and act which is why all these people helped Gi-hun, helped each other in small or big ways and in the end his own kindness and the kindness that exists in other people is what lead to Gi-hun winning. That's not luck. That humans being good

You know, I get that Eddie was annoyed with Buck over going full passive-aggressive remarks / petty mode, I get that he was probably trying to convince himself the move to Texas is a good idea when he was talking to the potential renters, I get that even if Buck didn't scare off those renters on purpose it was still a serious problem for Eddie.

But. He also said a whole lot of bullshit, really hurtful bullshit about some of Buck's worst fears and insecurities. And while Buck did everything and I do mean everything by the end of the episode to make it up to Eddie - apologising, calling out his own bad behaviour, admitting the insecurities it all stemmed from, renting Eddie's house himself, telling him he was of course right to do whatever he can for Chris and organising a farewell team dinner as a gesture of goodwill to top it off - Eddie did fuck all. He barely admitted that he isn't in love with the idea of leaving LA and that was it.

I didn't expect him to grovel or get on his knees and thank Buck for his generosity (that's ridiculous), but he didn't acknowledge that he behaved badly at all? What he did was dig his grave deeper. Instead of saying "I didn't mean that thing you overheard" or "of course you matter too, but I don't feel like I have a choice here" he went the opposite direction and accused Buck of spying and trying to get Eddie to pick him over Christopher??? Eddie sweetheart, I know repression is your middle name and you can get tunnel vision because of that, but holy fuck. You're acting like an arsehole. Get some perspective man.

On the one hand I'm tempted to blame this on the overall shit writing for season 8, but this kind of has precedent going back many seasons. When Eddie maneuvers himself into a tight spot, he represses his doubts, puts on his blinders and doubles down on the path he chose.

He did it when he started hanging out with Kim last season, never thinking about what the hell he was doing and only told Kim the truth / decided to stop seeing her after he was confronted by Buck. He didn't think about how insane that situation was, how it wasn't fair to Kim, how (even if he was only trying to be her friend, nothing more) he still lied to Marisol to sneak around with a woman he didn't want her to know about, how this could blow up in his face if Chris got wind of it. And then it did blow up in his face and he expected Buck to fix the tension with Christopher for him "like he always does". He did admit he fucked up and he is making something of an effort to repair his relationship with Chris, but he still isn't in therapy, still doesn't talk about Shannon and still does only what he thinks is right instead of asking literally anyone for advice.

During season 5 he distanced himself from the team, refused to talk to Buck about how he was doing because "he has moved on and so should Buck", quit his job basically over night, his mental health worsened and he only stopped charging ahead blindly when he had a major breakdown. I'm not blaming him for this per se, mental illness is a bitch, but it is another example for a well established pattern of behaviour.

Season 4 and 5, he's in a relationship with Ana and he doesn't love her, but she's a nice girl and a good girlfriend who gets along well with his son, this is what he is supposed to do, right? It is Buck who has to sit him down and tell him to maybe consider Ana's feelings, how shitty she must feel or will feel when she realises how invested she is in a relationship with a man who doesn't love her.

Season 3, the "divorce arc" / fight club era. Buck didn't sue Eddie personally. He sued the boss who unrightfully kept him from his job and the institution he worked for. He had lost his job, was probably hanging out 80% less with his entire social circle than before the bombing, had almost died twice and was still recovering. This had nothing to do with Eddie personally and yet Eddie got majorly pissed. Didn't even try to see Buck's perspective. And personally I don't think Buck should've sued. I think he should've gone to the union or tried talking to Bobby again or at least get one of their mutual friends in on this to get their advice (Hen or Chim maybe). But Eddie while in a rough spot himself went full tunnel vision again and put all of the blame for basically everything that sucked about the situation for him on Buck. Who later apologised unlike Eddie who only gratiously forgave Buck.

Season 2 Eddie had an affair with his wife who he was separated from at the time while refusing to let her see their child. He treated her like a dirty secret, had her sneak out the back door, only contacted her to begin with because he needed something from her. He eventually started being nicer to her and they started spending time as a family again, but Eddie did all of this with his "this is how it's supposed to be" goggles on. She was his wife, they had a kid together, this is the path they're supposed to take. No other options to be considered. Even 6 years later he still hasn't really accepted that Shannon didn't want to be his wife anymore and he ignored his Shannon complex for years.

This is a well established pattern. When Eddie has decided that he is in the right and that his plan is the best one then he sticks to it no matter what, he stops considering other opinions and will trample over other people's feelings in the process.

Not saying he isn't overall a kind person who wants to do right by other people, but he has this particular flaw and for someone who expects his best friend to always have his back no matter what he sure neglects reciprocating that sentiment a lot.

I haven't read any comics w Jay in them, but all I hear about it is that they're a bland nothing character made only so they can advertise Jon as queer. But since YOURE a fan of JayJon and one of the realest people on this site, i dont think that's v accurate (the bland part, at the very least) and I'm curious about what they're like :3 (also the panel they chose for the poll is not flattering at all T.T why does Jon look like that)

Awww thank you! I can't promise they're everyone's taste, and I understand people's hesitation due to the double whammy of Tom Taylor and Jon Kent, and initially when Jay was introduced I didn't have any interest in them at all. What got me intrigued was the ongoing Secret Six run, which is a book absolutely chock full of messy gay drama. And that got me to go back and deep dive into Jayjon.

The basic summary that I can give as propaganda is that Jay is a seventeen year old anarchist who successfully convinced Jon Kent to go along with his plan to overthrow a dictatorship. He's much more active a partner than a generic love interest, and in a lot of ways he's helping Jon define who he is outside of "Superman's son." Despite being created by Tom Taylor, the more comics Jay appears in the more it becomes clear that he's not a two dimensional sweet supportive love interest. That boy is a Hater. It's literally one of my favourite things about him.

(And also I think people saw Tom Taylor's name, Jon Kent as the protagonist, and Jay's pink hair and made a whole bunch of assumptions about him and Jayjon that lumped them in with Tim Drake and Bernard under the "DC doesn't care they're just throwing these heroes with random boring gay love interests" take. Which I disagree with especially when it comes to Jay tbh.)

But to understand my own personal love for jayjon, as someone who doesn't really care about male characters in general, you gotta understand the third part of this messy triangle: Nia Nal aka Dreamer. Spoilers for everything involving the three of them below.

Her backstory is written in Bad Dream: A Dreamer's Story but basically Nia is a half alien trans girl who grew up in a hidden alien sanctuary in America, until her powers manifested and she left and after some drama and tragedy, she became a hero. She shows up in Jon's Superman run to help Jon and Jay out because of future visions she had in her dreams. Why? Well now we get deep into Jay.

Jay Nakamura is a refugee from Gamorra, an Asian Island nation located in the Pacific. His mother used to be president of Gamorra, but when her successor was elected he turned the island into a dictatorship and began experimenting to create metahumans. Jay was tortured and experimented on, gaining the power to turn intangible. He fled and made his way to America, where he began running an underground news site attempting to expose the news mainstream media ignores, such as the Gamorran refugees. Jon during this run is struggling with the weight of being Superman and what kind of hero he wants to be, and decides to help Jay and the Gamorrans. They fall in love, kiss, and end up saving Gamorra with Nia's help. It's very Tom Taylor as in the ideas are interesting but he's limited to everyone getting an uncomplicated happy ending. Luckily, the characters aren't limited to his run. So instead of being a simple happy ending, things get a lot more complicated.

Then comes the one two whammy of Suicide Squad Dream Team and Absolute Power, which is a terrible comic for Amanda Waller but a great comic for Jon, Jay and Nia. Really enjoyable if you pretend Waller is possessed by an evil magic force the entire time. In Suicide Squad, Waller assembles a team in order to infiltrate Gamorra and take control. She blackmails Nia into being a part of the team first by threatening to expose her hometown of aliens to all of America, and later on by holding the life of her family hostage so that she does Waller's bidding. This leads to Nia using her powers to get the Suicide Squad into Gamorra, where they then assassinate the president.

... Aka Jay's mom.

Nia does end up flipping sides and helping Jon in Absolute Power after he's possessed by Braniac, but despite that Jay still despises her, and understandably so! Jon is caught in the middle between this girl he likes who he knows is a good person, and the boyfriend he loves who understandably hates her. And on top of that his fear of his powers being used to harm others came true and he is NOT coping well after his first time being possessed. And also Nia seems to be crushing on him.

So we come to Secret Six, which three issues in is just gay drama from top to bottom. You've got Deadshot and Catman for old man yaoi, Jon Jay and Nia all forced to work together and full of messy emotions, and Black Alice who was also part of the team who killed Jay's mom but is far less openly remorseful compared to Nia.

And thanks to all that, I've grown very fond of Jon/Jay/Nia. Trans girl who's OK with killing certain assholes vs Anarchist gay guy from a discriminated minority vs Jon Kent liberal flirting with leftism while also dealing with superpowered trauma. It's a powder keg and an entertaining one!

Okay another thing I really like about Psychonauts is the nature of its dialogue options. I collected some screenshots from a video of Pn2 dialogue options to demonstrate this, but it's present in Pn1 as well. And if I had gifs of these exact scenes I'd use them, but alas.

Basically, the dialogue options you're given are literally Raz's thoughts. The paths his brain is branching out towards. These are multiple different things he's thinking about in the moment, and you are just picking the one he decides to verbalize. Which means, a fully conceptualized thought in his head sometimes comes out differently when put into words, because he's literally changing how he wants to word it in real time. Changing his mind about what he actually wants to say.

So, here's my favorite example. (Sidenote: In the first playthrough I watched of this, you could actually see the player debate whether or not to choose this option and it was really funny. They ultimately chose to see what would happen.)

So, you can see that this is a subject he wants to address, and in his head, he knows how he would word it. However, once you choose that option...

He loses his confidence and chickens out. This is an unusual structure for video game dialogue. Your protagonist is not usually unpredictable; what you select is simply what they'll say. In this way, the game keeps you guessing on what to expect. It feels less rigid and scripted. I mean, Raz is literally going off script.

Here's another example because this happens the most when he's talking to Lili and I find it really adorable

You can really see into Raz's inner workings with these dialogue options. It's a deeper look into his thoughts, his character. You can tell he thinks alot about the moment he and Lili had back at the summer camp, but isn't as confident when it comes to actually voicing those thoughts. It makes him feel more human and relatable in a way I can't perfectly describe.

I also just really like how the dynamics shifted and evolved between Pn1 and Pn2. The way Raz matures and his demeanor changes reflects the real life experiences that the Double Fine team collected over the 10+ years between development cycles, and even during development.

The way Raz and Lili's relationship is portrayed is more in line with modern expectations, and I don't think that's a bad thing. Tim Schafer has always strived for portraying his characters and story respectfully, and he only improved with the extra time between projects.

1-Nightmare is very much not accepting any new members on his team, nor is he recruiting anymore people beside MTT, he could only barely tolerate the presence of three under him, and they’re already much work, plus, he sees it as a waste of resources to bring in more under him when MTT are enough to do the jobs he wants them to do, Swap’s existence would simply not provide anything for Nightmare but make him do extra unnecessary work, Nightmare would rather remove Swap from the picture entirely, than include him in it (basically kill Swap than recruit him)

2- Swap isn’t easy to manipulate or break, so even if Nightmare wanted a new recruit and he chose Swap for it, it’ll take so much time and effort to break Swap that Nightmare thinks he could instead save these resources for more important matters

Swap is one persistent mf, and someone who can go through horrifying shit and still hold his head high, like it never even happened to him, always find the light even in the darkest of times, always believe there’s hope when there seems to be none, Swap, is quite literally, more of what Dream wishes he could be than Dream himself is able to be, it’s one of the reasons Nightmare sees swap as a genuine threat to him, and as a reminder, my version of swap is a variant that went through Killer’s eye stabbing incident, and while that significantly affected Swap, it never truly weakened him, whether mentally, emotionally, or physically, quite the opposite, Swap took it as a learning experience and simply worked to better himself and his approach to things

And if Swap can go through that shit and still hold his head high, still put a genuine smile on his face, not taking his disability as an obstacle and instead find his footing with it like he had it all his life, without any resentment towards Killer at all, it’s obvious to Nightmare that it’d be a waste of effort to try and break him, he might as well just put his efforts into something else, something much more within reach, tangible, more likely to happen if you will

So even if Swap somehow ended up in Nightmare’s castle, under Nightmare’s mercy, it would take much more than Nightmare’s willing to give for Swap to break, hell, I think it’s a bit more likely that Swap would negate all the work Nightmare put into keeping MTT in line, give MTT too much of a shining sparkle of hope (much more than Nightmare would allow around his subordinates), and much more for Murder and Horror (Killer is a whole lot of a different story), give them the strength they need to disobey, to find a different path for themselves, to risk it and try to find their freedom

tim going back to red robin is lazy. 'but at the end of the run-' that run ended more than 10 years ago, let it go. the way the dc universe is right now, a continuation of that arc would just turn out to be lazy, nostalgia-bait slop as proven by the fact that, every time tim is mentioned in modern comics as 'red robin', nothing of substance is done with that. the mantle that once had any sort of importance to his character is reduced to 'basically robin but not really!' and idk how that can be seen as 'character growth' from anyone who genuinely cares for his character. 70% of the people ive seen with that hc are damian fans that want tim out of the way (not that i dont understand the sentiment) and dont really care for his character outside of the fact that dc keeps him as another robin mantle bearer and some writers prefer him

getting tim out of gotham is completely out of character. the only time he left gotham were his worst times, he became robin for gotham's sake. its his city, his world. leaving for some 'bludhaven-esque' city would just end up being a carbon copy nightwing '96 story. hard no. surprisingly, i don’t mind marina, if it means some better writer breaks down all of fitzmartin’s slop and makes it genuinely good with an interesting supporting cast instead of the queer catalog from a 2020 instagram infographics it was in tim drake: robin

tim getting a new mantle is lazier and again 'just to get him out of the way', why would tim want to be a vigilante outside of robin? 'he cares for justice' sure, because of robin. he wouldnt have become a vigilante at all if it wasnt for robin and, even then, he wasnt willing to become a vigilante until he realized dick had moved on and chosen him as a worthy successor. tim didnt choose vigilantism, he chose robin, and no other mantle would ever bear that significance for him. this, again, is proven by how literally every 'new mantle for tim' means nothing. its either random bird names or that goddamn 'gray ghost' which... why would it make sense for tim? what part of tim's character at his core would demand for that mantle? there has never been one of these 'new mantles' that actually embraced any important trait for him, they are just names

tim dying is just bad, as any other character being killed off would be. its the sign of an untalented editorial team finding the easy way out and an unworthy sendoff 'for the batfam's sake' for a character that had quite literally been the reason the batfamily exists to this day.

Dick never chose Damian over Tim- Tim refused to engage with him over his grief, shut him out, and left of his own devices! He never told Dick his suspicions on why Bruce was alive, never! And Tim is not the one to bring Bruce back either, there's a whole team at that point! Dick learns Bruce is alive through tossing his 'dead' body into a pit and the body comes to life as a zombie. Tim didn't tell him shit! Tim is also not a little crybaby- Damian cutting his line was a fucking blip on the page, he was momentarily shocked, that was it! He put Damian on his Hit List, which is why Damian cut his line. And his first attempt at "murder" is just pushing Tim off the dinosaur statue in the cave, he didn't go all assassin on him! Also Dick wasn't even there the first incident and wasn't told about the second incident. Alfred is the one who gave Damian Robin and Dick accepted him because he saw that Damian needed help! He needed guidance! He didn't fucking fire Tim the way Bruce fired him, and fuck all of you for thinking that Tim or Jason or fucking anyone has more right over Robin than Dick Fucking Grayson! He tried to promote Tim and Tim walked off. How dare yall make Dick fucking grovel towards that bastard!!!
