Prompt: Spitfire. Brontide.
"Look at them."
Artemis leaned forward against the bathroom sink, annoyed by Wally’s hot form pressing against her insistently. She huffed and elbowed him away, then stared hard at her reflection in the mirror. Same old face, same faint scar under her lip, and the same stormy eyes she’d always possessed.
Sometimes she just couldn’t deal with Wally when he got in his odd little moods.
"I don’t see it," she said with little enthusiasm, leaning away and crossing her arms underneath her bosom.
"I am telling you,” Wally groused, attempting to point at her left eye and nearly poking it in the process. Artemis grabbed his digit and bent it into an uncomfortable position until he yelped and she released it with an amused smirk. He cradled it with a hurtful look that reminded her of an abused puppy.
Adorable dork.
"My eyes look the same as they do every day, Wallman," she told him, patting his cheek as she waltzed past him and back into their bedroom.
"They’re darker," Wally said with conviction, following. "There’s going to be a storm later, you just wait."
Artemis snorted.
"Okay. It’s a sunny, cloudless day," she reminded him, yanking the blind up over their bed. True to that day’s whether prediction, the sun was rising into a very much empty blue sky. "So want to make a bet out of it, Flash boy?"
Wally grinned.
"Sure, since I know I’m right about my scientifically proven theory that your eyes are so totally a darker shade of gray when it’s going to storm!”
"You’re in one of your moods," Artemis groaned, tugging a shirt over her head.
"What?"
"When you get all…. I don’t know. Unreasonable.”
"We’ll see who’s unreasonable," Wally vowed, grabbing her around the waist unexpectedly from behind. He pushed his hands past her shirt and flattened them on her stomach as he rested his head on her shoulder and murmured, "So about that bet, babe…"
~~~~~~
Later that evening…
"Shh!"
"Wally, dammit, stop muting the tv every five minutes! It’s not thundering- mph!”
The speedster put a hand over her mouth, and she was a hair away from grabbing his arm and judo flipping him when she heard it.
The faint, distant roll of thunder outside their Palo Alto home.
Her eyes went wide, her jaw going slack underneath his way too hot palm. No. It absolutely could not be. They’d been outside with Nelson little more than an hour ago and it had been a happy, sun shining day.
Thunder boomed again faintly, like the far off crashing of angry waves.
Wally turned and grinned smugly at her, his ginger eyebrows wiggling.
She wanted to kill him and his stupid luck. Because that’s all it was. Luck. Coincidence.
Whatever.
The point was, Artemis was so NOT making him dinner in the nude, bet be damned.
My first impression, honestly, whiny and attention seeking. Also, a little over dramatic, and a bitch quite frankly. That was my first impression of you.
Well okay then.
Well I stayed up too late answering all those.
Are you young at heart, or an old soul? - Being honest I guess I'm probably an old soul. I hear it happens to many of us who have young parents.
What makes someone a best friend? - Someone who you can tease without having to worry about upsetting, who you can talk candidly to without having to worry about them repeating what you say, and someone who you can be your complete self around.
What Christmas (or Hanukkah) present do you remember the most? - Ummmmm well I got an art set once when I was little.
Tell me about a movie/song/tv show/play/book that has changed your life. - The Harry Potter books. I started reading them the year my parents got divorced and they taught me just how awesome reading is. If it weren't for those books I probably would have never discovered the comfort you can find between the pages of a book and the escape that a story can offer you.
Name one physical feature that you like about yourself, and one you dislike. - Well I like my calves a lot. They're pretty nice and I guess the one I dislike is probably my stomach.
Would you like to reconnect with any friends you’ve lost contact with? - Yes. Life circumstances kind of forced me and a few really awesome people apart and I miss them a lot.
What’s more important in a relationship: physical attraction or emotional connection? - Emotional connection all the way. Being completely honest the people I have "Liked" the most have always had the best personalities...seriously a few of them were not very attractive at all. I have had crushes on cute boys before but they have except in one case, all been jerks.
Name a movie that you knew would be terrible just from reading the title. - Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (I mean really? I'll probably end up seeing it though....)
What holiday do you most look forward to? - President's day.
How is the relationship between you and your parents? - Could be argued either way....
You’ve got the TV on, but you’re not really watching. What channel is the TV on? - I don't know. Grey's Anatomy.
Name a song that never fails to make you happy. - All About Us- He is We
You know at least one person named Michael. Tell me about him. - Um younger step-brother who is going through a bratty stage and older cousin who's pretty cool, and my Uncle who I know nothing about, also my step-dad's ex wife's husband and I could probably go on for awhile.....
Have you ever read the “missed connections” on Craigslist? Have you ever posted one, or wanted to? - No....never heard of it.
If you could pick anywhere to live the rest of your life, where would it be? - Somewhere in Europe.
Can money buy happiness? -Well I know all about the problems created by lack of money so to an extent yes but really it depends on the person.
Do you drink? Smoke? Do drugs? Why, or why not? - Drink- no, I'm not old enough; smoke- no, I have asthma; do drugs- no because I'm not going to risk my entire future for something like that.
Is there anyone close to you that you know you can’t trust? You don’t have to give names. - I don't think there's any one person who I trust with everything, even the people closest to me.
Where was your favorite place to go when you were a little kid? - Blimpies, I really just liked the name.
Have you ever spent a night in the hospital? - Nope.
Do you enjoy being with only one or two friends, or with a large group of people? - Depends...
Do you like the type of music your parents listen to? Do your parents like the type of music you listen to? -Yeah for the most part, I mean I do like the folkie Mumford and Sons, Laura Marling and Indie stuff that my family hates but there is a lot of music my parents listen to that I like a lot. Again I think it just comes from having young parents.
Have you ever been bullied? Have you ever bullied anyone else? - Yes I've been bullied, and while I haven't exactly bullied anyone I've definitely said/done some really hurtful things.
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? - Salad. I honestly just like the taste.
If your partner wanted to wait until marriage before having sex, would you stay in that relationship? -Yeah
Do you believe in a God? - Totally.
Of all the social networks in the world, why use Tumblr? - Um because it's the product of pure awesomeness.
If you could give up your car and never have to drive again, would you? - Do I get a bike/ subway?
What’s your “quirkiest” habit? - Either the way I say a certain consonant or else the fact that I constantly have the hiccups cause of my acid reflux....although the latter isn't really a habit and it's actually pretty embarassing so I'm not sure if that counts.
What is “normal?” Are you normal? - Normal is overrated and I really hope I'm not.
Someone close to you is dying. You have the choice to let this person live for 10 more years, but if you do, you cause the death of 10 strangers. You don’t have to see them die. Do you take the offer? - I would hate to do it but I guess I'd have to let the one person die because of my values for human life and my beliefs in heaven.
What is one thing you could never forgive? - Abusing the weak.
Would you rather be in a relationship after the honeymoon period ends, or be single? - Relationship. The best things in life aren't supposed to come easy and if it's all honeymoon all the time then you're never getting anything worthwhile from it.
You win a scratch-off lottery game that gives you $2000 a week (after taxes) for the rest of your life. Do you keep your job? - Well hopefully my job is being a writer and if that's it then yes I keep it because I honestly don't think I could ever stop writing. If not then I would quit and become a writer....or at least attempt to become one.
Could you be in a long-distance relationship? If you’re in one, what makes yours work? - Haha yes and because I like having alone time a lot.
What’s the best route to your heart? - Well I could say through my chest but I feel that it has become a bit overused so instead I will say that if you love books and can hold an intelligent conversation you probably have my heart in the palm of your hand.
I want to know how it began. - Well let's see my friend Cathy told my other friend Ian I liked him and then told me he liked me too so then he gave me his chocolate milk for a week and played on the dome with me at recess for a week before we got sick of each other and never spoke again. In case you hadn't guessed I was in third grade and I don't even think we held hands.
Do you want to live until you’re 100? - Not really. Most of my friends will be dead and I'll be living in a world meant for another generation....plus who knows, maybe by then 1984 will be reality. I'd prefer not to see that.
Do people change? If so, how do you keep a relationship together when both of you start to change? - Yes people change. You adapt to the changes in yourself and in them and you don't give up.
