Dc x Dp Prompt #6
“I’m a twin”, Damian said one night. He could feel the narrowed eyes of his family drilling holes on his back in disbelief. Not that he could blame them. Damian had never so much as implied being raised with a companion, much less a sibling.
“I had a brother”. Damian paused to recollect himself. He had not said his brother’s name out loud in over 8 years.
“His name was… Danyal”. Damian hated the way his voice wavered, but he could not help it. Danyal was everything to him, his other half. Their heart beat as one and when one heart stopped beating, the other one died with it. At least until his family put his heart on metaphorical life support without ever realizing.
“Where is he now?” His father asked, voice filled with knowing grief and a hint of betrayal. It had in fact been 6 years since Damian first showed up on his doorstep.
“Up there”. All eyes shifted towards the specific star he was pointing to. “Right before he died, he promised me he’d guide me from the stars. Unfortunately, the stars are not visible in Gotham, so my brother is unable to be of much help unless I leave the city.”
“Your brother is Polaris, the North Star?” Tim questioned warily, most likely in attempts to not offend him. Damian was aware of how stupid it sounded, but Danyal had promised, and his brother never broke his promises.
“Yes. Danyal is with the stars now, just as he always wanted”

The concept of Solas 'accidentally' leaving the eluvian open before his ritual because part of him wants to be stopped is a bit silly but at least very funny because can you imagine his disappointment if he's hoping the Inquisitor will show up and then instead it's Rook ...
The whole time in the regret prison he's just in there incredibly bored thinking to himself if this were the Inquisitor instead I would at least have to put some effort in to manipulate them

this part always gets me giggling kicking my feet twirling my hair. when wade kept asking about logan's suit saying he just wanted to bond, logan said "well then talk about something else"
he's practically showing us he's not against talking to wade at all, unlike how he wants us to believe by being so grumpy and telling him to stfu all the time.... that scene really got me going "aw he wants to bond? 🥺" in the theatre

I think chapter 402 of sctir might be one of my absolute favorites, because it has the perfect balance of the silliness of Han Yoojin fighting the dungeon version of himself, while also showing the depth of his grief and self loathing for 'letting' his brother die.
it's that meme about not being able to stand yourself if you met them as another person/doppelganger, without shying away from why. Yoojin has only recently been able to even admit that he regressed and how it happened, and even then in not much detail, and suddenly it's out in the open for everyone - the people he cares about - to see.
the dungeon version of him went for his throat bc how dare he let their baby brother die. and he completely agrees with the sentiment. but he also hates the dungeon version right back, not only bc he's a reminder of everything he's suffered through, but also what that version of him has yet to lose - Han Yoohyun.
that version of him never held his dying brother in his arms, powerless to save him, knowing it's his fault. that version of him doesn't struggle with how he can't even manage to recover his brother's corpse. that version of him doesn't have to live knowing what it's like to have permanently lost the brother he raised on his own. it's a grief that will never end for him, a loss he can never truly recover from. how can he not be jealous? how can he not hate himself?
Han Yoojin wants to live for the Han Yoohyun he has now, but he also wants to die for the one he lost.

Normally I have a strong distaste for black-haired, socially awkward and overpowered MCs who achieve impossible feats.
But when said MCs are unreliable narrators? When they casually downplay or don't even think to mention some extremely important parts of their pasts, which start to seep through their narration and which makes you look at the story in slowly dawning horror? I eat that shit up.

Riz Gukgak and his bloody hands
SUCH a metal visual and motif. Kalina, Baron, they tease him for it, they twist it into one of his worst qualities, just as they belittle that he his heart, leverage his fear that he cannot love anyone enough.
Riz Gukgak loves. He will claw himself to shreds on love. He will dig through reality, lacerating himself on crystal, just to help his childhood friend. He will hiss at the devil, he will bite out eyes, he will do anything to help his friends feel safe. He will attempt to eat an entire dragon. Out of love for a father he barely knew.
"That’s you saying “I love you” to the people who matter to you the most."

Headcanon: Karl doesn't own a bed
He COULD own a bed. God knows he has enough power and influence to own a bed; but does he own a bed? No. He has a rudimentary hammock strung up in one of his workshops and an old standard issue wool military blanket that is so scratchy it could remove the rust from cast iron. He barely sleeps in that, even.
Karl strikes me as someone who has mastered the skill of falling asleep anywhere in less than 60 seconds. At the workbench. On the floor. Outside leaned up against a tree. On the pew during a meeting of the Four Houses (frequently). He just drops his hat over his eyes, and off he goes.
He sleeps most soundly inside the factory -it's the one place he really feels safe.
(Sometimes, after a long day of getting particularly sweaty and disgusting, he sneaks into Lady D's castle to take a nap in a guest room.)

Been thinking about Hosea a lot as I write this analysis on Dutch and Micah.
Maybe I’ll eventually whip something up about him, but for now I’m left with thoughts about knowing that not only is Hosea just as guilty as Dutch when it comes to how their boys were brought up (and continued to be treated through adulthood and ultimately up to their deaths), but also the way the two irreparably damaged John and Arthur’s entire lives beyond even their own comprehension. FURTHERMORE, they set forth a viscous cycle of familial violence and neglect that maintained momentum into the next generation. (See: John and Jack.)
The way Hosea’s action, but more importantly his inaction had in part led to… well, [gestures vaguely to RDR1 + RDR2].
Hosea might have been gentler than Dutch on the surface, but he saw it all, and at times both implicitly and explicitly encouraged it through the meticulous timing of his decisions to remain a “silent watcher.”
Yes, refusal to mitigate the violence makes him complicit, but the matter of the fact is… Hosea can’t even feign partial innocence as a third-party bystander because of how calculated he is in nature.
Additionally, there is no “third party.” Dutch and Hosea are a single unit. They occupy the same space even as two separate individuals in John and Arthur’s lives.
The deliberate nature of Hosea’s inaction puts him in the same position as the “perpetrator” because he isn’t just a watcher, he corroborates directly with Dutch and agrees with what he is doing on principle. He reenforces it in perhaps more subtle ways, but that doesn’t make him any less responsible for the outcome.
The only difference between the two is that while they’re dealing different cards, they are playing the exact same game.
#I’ve got some horrible little headcanons rattling around tbh#Dutch and Hosea have different methods and demeanours but truly are partners in crime not only in the literal sense but also are#one another's accomplice in how they raised/treat John and Arthur.#I think that Hosea gets let off the hook a little too easy and I really enjoy thinking about the implications of his behaviour on the boys#just as much as I enjoy analyzing that of Dutch.#Also??? The way that Arthur seemed to die not realizing this adds layers to it in my head. John had all that time to mull it over and think#after all that had happened with the gang throughout his life and I'm CERTAIN he did a LOT of thinking about when exactly Dutch's#true colours started to shine through over the years... so I'd say its safe to assume that he did a lot of thinking about the pair of them.#I want to know if he is capable of thinking fondly about Hosea in spite of this because he has been dead for a long time#Or does he hold a grudge against him even post-mortem? John at least got to have a conversation with Dutch and see exactly what he's become#I wonder to what extent that perfect image he had of Dutch being tainted caused him to see things clearer than#Arthur was ever given the chance?#Arthur died not knowing but I think John might have the tendency to ruminate on it in the years that followed.#I wonder what conclusions he came to about his life up until that moment while sitting alone in the aftermath.#Was he afraid? Did he even want to unpack all that? To potentially ruin every good thing he'd ever had just because Dutch went off the rail#in the end? If so... what would he have left if it turned out that nothing was ever the way it seemed?#red dead redemption 2#the curious couple and their unruly son#dutch van der linde#hosea matthews#arthur morgan#john marston#red dead meta#paisley.txt

Garak's shop explosion but Bigger and More Flames and Kira shouting for help to hold back Julian from running into Certain Death and Julian desperately trying to weigh up if he can risk using his enhancements to escape the officers holding him and struggling against them until it finally gets through to him that even if he gets free, he can't survive going through that wall of flames and if he couldn't then Garak couldn't and all of a sudden he's just gone limp and Kira is helping him sit down against a wall before going off to aid the firefighters and he's distantly aware that some people are headed to the infirmary having been caught in the blast and he knows he should get up and help but for some reason he just can't, hes just stuck there, shivering
And ofc Garak is okay in the end, he was just being as flashy as possible (while the explosion was very dramatic at front-of-house, the back of his shop was fairly untouched - including him. Which helpfully serves as more "evidence" that the "assassin out to get him" doesn't usually use bombing as their method)
But this time when it's revealed he blew up his own shop, people are far more angry with him bc if Kira hadn't been there Julian absolutely would have ran into the flames heedless of the risk and while Julian's too relieved Garak is okay to be properly angry for the meantime, everyone else is very much clamoring to yell at Garak for putting their Doctor at risk. And Garak ofc would never have conceived of that as being a potential problem because surely even Doctor Bashir wouldn't be such a self-sacrificing fool for Garak and has no idea how to take it or feel about it.
(Making it in some ways easier for him to accept Tain's offer and hide in it, he doesn't want to have to think about his doctor he wants to bury all of that...)

Imagine being Guzi's mom when you and your husband are taken by Qi Rong's lackeys, and when you're finally reunited with your baby boy your husband is acting...odd. And he continues to act odd. First off, you're surprised he even still has Guzi, much less has been taking care of him. Sorta. You thought he would've abandoned him ages ago. More so surprised that he's dragging the both of you along, instead of disapearing for days or weeks on end as he does.
His gambling buddies have been replaced with all manner of ghouls and the like, and you fear that finally, finally, he's done the one thing you fear most and sold you two to pay his debts. But it never happens. Yeah he still gripes and bitches the same but atleast he flings words instead of plates. He still hogs all the blankets and most of the food but atleast you and Guzi get a share now.
He still cusses the same and he's a little more...theatrical, about how no one appreciates him and how even the Gods and the Calamaties will one day lick his boots (HUA CHENGZHU??? The Lord of Ghost city and Calamity Supreme??? And who the hell is this Dog fucker Xie Lian guy?? Someone he lost a bet to or something??).
And like...so what that he now deals with ghosts and ghouls?? And that he can suddenly create green flames and the weird spells and stuff...? You know he's always been...odd , thats why you fell for him in the first place! And there seems to be no trouble! Look, he's even somewhat, kinda interacting with his son now instead of ignoring or yelling at you both like he used to----Yeah no he's munching on a human arm WHAT THE FUCKKK
