Yeah totes I don't mind so much that there aren't any lady aliens, it seems deliberate that there hasn't been imo. But as I was saying to @jonathanwalshs, what's great about this show is that there so many different possibilities the show could go down and it's just so exciting! It could go into a good social critique like most sci fi shows, or it could not. Either way I have faith that it's still gonna be a hilarious watch.

Also your last point is totes fair. Jonathan was reporting to a reptilian posing as a black man... I can't think of any others atm. There was the convenience store clerk? So yeah, that kind of debunks the race/power theory lol

So idk if anyone has talked about this yet but I feel like the fact that there hasn’t been any on screen lady aliens has been a deliberate choice by the showrunners. People of Earth is made by the people who did Parks and Rec and The Office, both shows with good roles for women (not so much WoC tbh - often sidelining them to minor supporting characters) so it’s interesting to me that while they already have women outnumbering the men amongst the humans, there is not a single lady alien. I’m not counting Nancy here because she’s an android. In saying this, I’m wondering what the larger plan is, and I’m excited to learn more about alien society.

I’m also wondering if they’re going to broach gender issues amongst the alien races. Maybe gender as a concept doesn’t exist and the aliens are simply emulating the white male appearance to assume the most amount of power in human society… I’d also like to see the Kurt/Jeff dynamic be explored on the show not so much in terms of them being two alien dudes in love but rather a unique expression of love between two alien races, only occurring now due to the formation of the Alliance. I hope that’s where the show is headed, which will add more spice to the undeniable future plot point that Walsh is going to be the one to kiss Ozzie back to life.
