.........I see a certain U.S. Senator is also present here, now. One would think a Senator would have far better things to do than run a blog, but I digress.
Perhaps that speaks to his competency as one if he has the time for this...

X, Y, & Z!
lol hey just remembered that i had these from dec 19th lol i think i was just so mentally unwell at the time that i couldn't actually process the fact that i had asks and was capable of answering them even tho i literally reblogged the ask game lol anyways was going through my drafts and saw this and i'm MUCH better now so i went through and found the game and imma do it now <3
x - a trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
hahhaahhaha character with an inferiority complex learning/being told that they're enough on their own/when those characters get in character content made of them ijuhygtfguiouygf because a lot of times they get misinterpreted or ignored </3 also. hanahaki <3
y - what are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
OH! my number one secondhand fandom is wwdts thanks to @chasvchalilah <3 i have my Guy (colin robinson) and i feel like i basically know the whole plot thanks to shira and her incredible patience for all my questions and her kindness in telling me like. literally everything lol actually this reminds me i think the colin post shira tagged me in is in my drafts and that i actually forgot to reblog it. hm. gonna go find it after i post this lol also csm because grace watched it and i know it's not really a show that i'd like so i'm living it vicariously through them and moth and the other csm moots <3
z - just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.)
ah this is dangerous omg okay oh gosh okay what do i choose okay so this is a very random thing to rant about, but it's fan-related so. but i lowkey hate in chatfics how writers always give characters different contact names. more often than not, i look at them and say "they would never choose that name" / "they would never name that person that" / "they would throw a fit if their name got changed to that" and like. it's just so irritating. i honestly think most blorbos would just call each other by their names in their contacts like. and if you're going to give them "silly" names (bc most times they just... aren't even funny to me personally), they don't even specify who is who! most of the time, i see them say something MAYBE at either the beginning or end of the first chapter and then usually never again even if the characters start changing each other's names! so it's just hard to keep up. i actually love chatfics and think they're such a cool idea and a great creative writing exercise, but they HAVE to be done right because they can go poorly/ooc SO quickly. not all characters use correct grammar, but some do. some will use capitalization and punctuation while others don't. some characters will use emojis or send memes and recite memes, OTHERS WON'T and you NEED to be able to figure this stuff out. also it is SO unrealistic for all the characters to constantly trauma dump because half these characters refuse to "show weakness" or don't know How to talk to people about what's wrong. oH AND ALSO not all characters are so unhinged in chatfics my God the way people write certain characters in how they text and what they text is so icky because it's just too unhinged we gotta stop giving characters that treatment ugh uh anyways also kenji is underused in the show and underrated by fans. there should be more kenji content. also unpopular opinion, but kenji is a more interesting character than chuuya and how does chuuya have like... 20k more fics in the chuuya tag than kenji has in his own tag? nothing against chuuya - i like him! i do! but why is he treated more like a main character than kenji:( maybe i'm just sad bc kenji is my favorite and barely has ANY content. there are SO few kenji-centric fics out there and a lot of them also are kenji & chuuya friendship which... admittedly, i LOVE but i feel like there's more kenji & chuuya than kenji & the ada members which is so sad??? also he deserves better in the show! smh he wasn't even in the s5 trailer (neither were junichiro and naomi ugh so upset about that) like pls. let everyone treat kenji more like an important member of the team bC HE IS😭
#jen tag#uh oh#i am. so sorry.#i have. so many feelings. did NOT mean to go off so much uhhhh#anyways don't even get me started on how chat fics are like... PEAK character analysis and i plan on using that form of writing to help#teach students how to analyze characters when i have my own classroom i literally have lessons planned for it for funsies#anyways also sorry i suck and answered this SOOOOOO late oops#you're amazing - hope you're thriving <3#corey rambles:)

okay so here we go, let’s hope I make some kind of sense.
I know some people are going to have a problem with Mickey in this episode (which could never be me because he’s hilarious) and still call him ooc but to me, he’s anything but. First thing yes, he has some questionable lines but that’s always how shameless does this sort of thing. What’s important is to look at the bigger picture.
All Mickey has known in his entire life is how to scam and steal. He’s sold drugs, guns, robbed, and scammed his way into having the bare minimum. Scrapping by to eat, having to take care of the Milkovich household when Terry is gone, most likely barely having enough money to heat their water half the time. All this time and effort and risk just to have essentials that other people take for granted. And while Ian isn’t better off in hindsight, he’s held a regular job - he’s been to school, he’s studied, he knows what it means to have a bank account and save your money. Things like thinking about your future aren’t foreign to Ian. Not in the same way that Mickey has only ever known how to live day by day.
Now I think it’s important to say that I don’t think Ian had ill intentions when he’s pushing Mickey to get a job. He knows that they need to move forward and he can’t do it on his own. Husbands have to work together to build their new lives but Mickey said it himself - he’s still in his honeymoon. They had money handed to them just for getting married and Mickey’s first thought is to spend it on something fun - because he’s never been able to do that. He’s never taken a vacation, bought something nice for himself or for the people he cares for, or been able to just rest for a while without threat. So where Ian thinks in the future, Mickey thinks in the present because that’s how its always been for him.
So for Ian to call his dedication into question makes him defensive. He lashes out, says things he doesn’t mean, tries to justify his actions so that Ian can understand that even if he doesn’t do it now - he’ll get there eventually. Neither of them are completely in the wrong but neither of them are completely right either. It’s really just a case of miscommunication, of not being on the right page.
I think Mickey’s actual feelings come through in this episode in subtle ways. When he’s watching tv and the guy says “stop disappointing the ones you love”, Mickey instantly reacts. That’s his biggest fear. It always has been - disappointing Ian. Not being enough for Ian. Which isn’t Ian’s fault but it’s inherent in Mickey’s mind at this point. He’s fought for this life and he wants to hold onto it, no matter what he has to do. So he takes Ian’s advice and goes to get a job at the warehouse but I think what some might forget about Mickey is that he quite literally doesn’t know what a job interview entails. He’s never been part of one in his life. Maybe some of the parts were exaggerated and played up for laughs because comedy but Mickey tried. He tried. He wants to “make it work here” while looking at Ian for his approval.
It’s frustrating when you can’t or don’t know how to be the person your significant other needs you to be. It’s hard to think that maybe you’re not as smart or capable or prepared for your own life. But Mickey is facing it even with his sarcastic comments and his lashing out. He’s facing the reality. They need money, they need stability so he plays to his strong suits. He uses the skills he knows he has. Mickey is not a stupid guy, he’s so intelligent but what’s left is to apply it to a legitimate job which we know they end up doing with the security business to a certain extent.
Long story short, I think it’s unfair to judge Mickey so harshly without looking at his mindset or trying to unpack it at least. Ian is right for pushing him because I do think he needs it but at the same time, Mickey is trying and I think we’ll see more of that once they get past their idiot bickering. They’re communicating and yes they’re handling it like children at times but they still share spaces, still eat breakfast together, still try to make it work. Neither of them are giving up which is the most important part.

Not a Hero
Wade Wilson x Stark!Reader
Requested by @ritiizzxxx
Heyy.. ik u did my request Last time n was amazing so I thought can u do another one please... Where Stark!reader will Wade Willson as she was just curious about his power and Tony doesn't like it. But she ended up recruiting him as an Avenger.
Warnings:Swearing (more than usual), violence (more violent than usual), dark & inappropriate humor, sexual innuendos, death, mentions of cheating, cheesy nicknames, maybe ooc characters?, breaking the forth wall.
A/N: I’m really happy that you liked the last one, and i really hope you like this one too. GIFs are not mine.
“Does anybody want to explain why Wade Wilson is in the waiting room?”, your dad demands as he walked into your office.
Ever since Pepper had handed the position to you, your dad had made a habit of visiting you when he could. It was nice that you were able to see him a lot, but sometimes (like right now) you wish that he could have other stuff going on.
Your dad had never been a fan of your’s and Wade’s friendship. You dad often argued that Wade was dangerous and being a known friend of him was probably more dangerous. Although he was right, you still liked being friends with Wade.
“He has an appointment,” you say.
“For what?” In all honesty, you didn’t know what the appointment was about either, but if he made an appointment then it had to be for some purpose, right?
“I don’t know, Dad,” you tell him as you stand up from your desk. “His appointment is going to start soon, so I’m gonna call him in now.”
“Okay.” Your dad hugs you goodbye before making his way towards the glass door. “I’ll see you at home.” You don’t miss the strange look he gives Wade, who is currently sitting comfortably in the waiting room, dressed in his Deadpool outfit, and hogging most of the magazines.
“Then, she told me that if I didn’t get out, she’d turn me into a fucking knife rack,” Wade tells you twenty minutes into his appointment. You knew that if this were anyone else, you’d have kicked them out by now, but you couldn’t with him.
“I’m sorry,” you say genuinely. “That must’ve been hard for you.”
“Three years thrown out the fucking window and for what?” Wade tells you, pausing for dramatic effect. “That dude who plays James Gordon on TV.”
“I meant her threatening to stab you, but Vanessa cheating on you must’ve also been hard.” You’ve never been cheated on, so you can’t imagine how hurt Wade must be feeling now.
“Oh. It’s okay. I can’t die,” he casually says to you.
“Pardon?”
“After Francis experimented on me, I became pretty much immune to everything, including death.”
“Wow. That’s amazing,” you say. “What other powers do you have?”
You just realized how weird it was that you’ve known Wade for a few years now and not once had you bothered to ask what his superpower was.
“Breaking the forth wall.”
“Wha- Never mind.” You didn’t really know what he meant by that, although you weren’t going to question it. You’d already gotten used to him talking to people who weren’t there, so this was probably something that had to do with that.“Maybe- have you ever thought of joining the Avengers?”
“No, not really,” he shrugged.
“You could,” you say. “We could-”
The truth was, you mostly wanted Wade to join the Avengers because he was your best friend. You knew he was an expert at fighting, so that was a plus, but you really enjoyed talking and spending time with him. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think you were in lo-
“Sorry, buttercup, but I’m no hero,”he says, sitting up. “Anyway, do you want to get lunch?”
“Sure,” you say. You didn’t want to drop the subject, but you had to admit that you were starving.
“You asked him to join the Avengers?” You dad asks incredulously.
After lunch, you and Wade went your separate ways. You dad was waiting for you back at the compound, and was very displeased at you for taking it upon yourself for asking Wade to join your little band of heroes.
“Yeah. He told me that he can heal really fast and he was even able to take down the guy who experimented on him,” you explain to him.“Besides, he’s my best friend.”
“Y/N, he calls himself Deadpool,” you dad argues. “I don’t want you hanging out with someone like him.”
“Well, I’m an adult, so-” you say, but your dad interrupts you.
“I know. I’m not telling you what to do,” he explains. You were a grown adult, capable of making your own decisions (most of the time), and you knew that he knew that.“I’m just offering some fatherly advice.”
“I understand, but I still think he’d make a great addition to the team.”
“Let’s just agree to disagree.” You dad stands up from his seat, probably ready to go to bed, before he asks, “Besides, if the X-Men can’t recruit him, what make you think he’ll join us? How long have you been friends with him anyway?”
“I think I’ve know him for around two years.” You met him before that Francis guy had experimented on him. You were sure that if he hadn’t already been in a relationship with Vanessa at the time, then maybe- nope. You were getting way ahead of yourself.
“Okay, what do you see?” You dad asks through your ear-piece. You were currently infiltrating an old warehouse that was being used by someone who is suspected of having close ties with Hydra.
“I see a bunch of boxes and an old computer,” you say. The place was a mess. Papers and trash was littered everywhere, the boxes were badly sealed, and the computer looked like the one Mathew Broderick had in WarGames.
“Okay. Can you turn on the computer?” You dad asks. You certainly could, if you could get through the mess without tripping and landing on your face.
“Yeah, let me just-” Suddenly you felt something collide with the side of your head. You’re vision started to become blurry and the last thing you heard before passing out was the sound of your dad calling your name.
“What the hell?” You ask as soon as you open your eyes. You were in some kind of room and you couldn’t move your hands. They were tied up buy some rusty, yet strong, chains.
“Ms. Stark”, Some guy said. You don’t recognize him, but he knows who you are. “We were beginning to think that Aries had hit you a little too hard. It’s nice to see you finally awake.”
You roll your eyes at him. You’ve heard the same speech one too many times in your life to feel threatened by whoever this Aries guy is.
“Can you just cut to the chase already?” you ask.
“We want information on the Avengers.” You refrain from laughing. The whole kidnapping and torturing for information thing seemed pretty cliche, even for Hydra.
“You’re gonna have to try a lot harder than kidnapping me to tell you anything... which I won’t.”
The man becomes serious before turning to another man, who you assumed was Aries. He was pretty huge. He was bulky, tall, and seemed to have a permanent scowl on his face.
“Aries,” he says. Aries immediately yanks your hair back painfully. You don’t let your pain show as the man continues to ask questions about the Avengers.
After a few days, you barely felt pain anymore. They’d cut you, punch you, kick you, and even pour freezing cold water on you.
“Okay,” you finally said, “This is starting to get a bit redundant.”
The man, whose name you learned was Heath, looked at you angrily. Not only had he failed to get any sort of information from you, but you continuously teased him the entire time he and Aries tortured you.
“Then I guess we have no use for you,” he stands up, getting ready to end you, before you both hear a knock on the door.
“Who the fuck-” Heath, with his gun ready, opens the door but he is met with Aries’s head flying at him.
“Language.”Wade says as he shoots Heath a few times. Finally, he looks at you.“Hey, hot stuff, you okay?”
“Yeah,” you say. You’re glad that he showed up when he did. Well, preferable, he could’ve shown up earlier, but this works too. “Can you get me out of these chains,” you saw motioning to the rusted chains that were constricting your hands.
“As much as I wanna see you tied up, seeing you bruised and bloody is not my idea of a good time,” he says. You roll your eyes as he works on getting you free.
“Thanks.”
“No problem, sweet cheeks,” he says.
Back at the compound, you dad was pretty much having a fit. Apparently, all of the Avengers had been out looking for you. Somehow, although nobody knows how, Wade had been the one to find out where you were.
“Look, I know that you said that being a hero wasn’t your thing, but maybe you could reconsider,” you say. “After all, my dad is probably never going to send me on a solo mission again, so I kinda need a partner.”
“I’ll consider it.” You know deep down what you won.
Wade looked at you in a way that he’d never looked at you before. You’re mind immediately went back to all the stuff he told you about Vanessa. Hadn’t they just recently broke up?
“I think this is the part of the fan-fiction where we’re supposed to kiss,” he says.
“What?” Did he really just say “fan-fiction”?
He kissed you, and neither of you noticed your dad approaching.
“I’m gonna need another drink.”
A/N: I know this is a bit late, but I honestly wasn’t sure how I wanted to write this. I still hope you like it, though.

The 100: 7x03 False Gods
Although I liked this episode less than the first two episodes of season 7, which were great, especially 7x02. I quite enjoyed False Gods for what it was. This seems to be an unpopular opinion in the fandom, which mostly hated it for what it wasn’t. And I get it - Bellamy has been missing for almost 3 episodes (even though it’s not even been 2 days since he left Sanctum), Clarke took a back seat here, and the new SciFi Anomaly storyline is far more interesting than the power struggles in Sanctum. Plus the A plot of this episode was problem-of-the-week, another potential nuclear meltdown - of a reactor we didn’t even know about before.
it feels like a setup/breather before we get to the real story. Yes, it's high time the storylines finally converge and Clarke and the others learn that Bellamy and others are missing, and get involved in the Anomaly plot. I guess I’m more patient than most, and it helped that I already knew this would only happen in the next episode. The biggest problem of this episode is probably that it didn’t address what was happening in the other storyline, for the benefit of all the viewers who are watching this weekly, don’t necessarily think about the show’s timeline and aren’t aware of the fact that it’s been a little over one day since Bellamy, Octavia, Echo and Gabriel went to research the Anomaly Stone, that there’s absolutely nothing surprising about the fact they haven’t come back yet (people were absent for similar periods of time in season 6 even when they went to a less distant location), that there is no reason whatsoever for Clarke and others to think that there are any other threats on the moon or any other humans outside Sanctum, and that there are no radio signals or mobile phones they could use to call them before they get back. And that, if she doesn’t have reasons to think Bellamy is in danger, it’s not OOC at all for Clarke to not be whining about the fact that he left with his girlfriend, his sister and Gabriel to do research instead of stay and help her as a co-leader in Sanctum, while she is also grieving her mom... Actually, you know what, I do have a problem with people criticizing Clarke for that. But I do see why a mention would help the viewers get a sense of coherence, that both this and the previous episode belong to the same story.
But at the same time, this episode delivered some of the things many fans have been saying they wanted to see: it was focused on the characters who have been there from season 1, Raven and Murphy (and Emori, who has been there since season 2 and has had the most long-lasting relationship in the show), it gave Raven an arc and character development and put her in the situation to make “impossible choices” and understand how Clarke has felt so many times (something that many were asking for after her season 6 characterization), it, put an end to Madi being a Commander, and let Clarke grieve for the loss of her mother for another episode.
Raven's storyline was still really engaging and the scenes in the reactor intense. And damn it, I liked Hatch, even though he was in just two episodes and a few scenes. He stole the show and made me really sad when I realized he was definitely doomed. I knew from the trailer that Nikki would beat the crap out of Raven, but I didn't know why. A lot of people thought Nikki would just be a straight-up villain like McCreary, but instead, she's given a good reason to feel the way she does. And it was high time the show addressed the fact that the Eligius prisoners are looked down on as second class people or barely people. Sure, they are murderers and thieves and not nice people, but that doesn’t make it OK to see them as barely human, as Eligius Corporation did when they were going to leave them to die as expendable.
This is probably leading to the friendship between Raven and Clarke getting stronger again. Other things this episode seemed to be setting up:
future conflicts in Sanctum: SheidhedaRussell (SheidRussell? RussellHeda?) getting more control, while Clarke and others have no idea about who he really is, while the Eligius prisoners are going to be led by a very angry Nikki;
Clarke has a continuation of her story from 7x01 and gets a kind of closure to her grief over her mother. She gets to say that she cannot lose anyone else, a very obvious setup for learning about Bellamy’s (and others’) disappearance. At first, this made me roll my eyes a little bit - it’s not like this is a new motivation for Clarke. She is always trying to save her people, and anyone who isn’t aware how important Bellamy is to her, has not been paying attention. But then it struck me - the show was doing extra work to set up Clarke being ready to leave Madi in Sanctum without looking like a ‘bad mother’ - and for that purpose, she now 1) knows Madi is not a Heda anymore and can breathe a sign of relief that Madi can be a normal kid now, 2) has no idea about Sheidheda, and 3) has started to trust Gaia enough as someone who could take care of Madi.
This time it’s Luisa's voice saying "Previously". It looks like they're having a different cast member say it at the start of each episode (Eliza in 7x01, Marie in 7x02).
James wasn’t losing any time, did he. It’s been just a little over a day since they came from the ship, and he’s already hooking up with a girl from Sanctum. And the show really did the horror trope of a couple that goes to a secluded place to hook up and dies.
There is a nuclear reactor in Sanctum? We go to another planet moon, and again the same problems, just as Indra said.
The opening titles ended with a new shot of the mansion and the grave next to it - this is presumably what Abby’s grave will look in the future. At the moment, it’s a heap of rocks with flowers over them. (Maybe it's meant to be Kane's, too - they don't have either of their bodies, though Abby did die on Sanctum and they could at least bury her clothes.) Contrary to what many fans thought, Clarke burying Jake’s ring was not Abby’s “funeral” - the funeral had already been held, so the answer to the often asked question “why weren’t Madi, Raven, Jackson, Murphy etc. there", is - they were, when the funeral was held. Clarke just went later, alone, to bury the ring, the remembrance of both her parents. With the grave being so close to the mansion, Gaia saw Clarke coming to bury the ring and then came to talk and bury the Flame.
It’s good that Clarke has another confidante/budding friendship, someone to talk to in her increasingly small circle. But I’m not sure that Clarke and Gaia managed to connect that much over grief - because losing a parent and losing your religion are very different kinds of loss. Clarke doesn’t even have a religion and doesn’t have that kind of experience.
I love the way the show acknowledged that everyone knows Clarke will always be the first one to risk her life to save everyone - and Murphy knows it. But the plot mechanics ket Clarke away from this storyline (because Murphy and Emori had have it) - Indra said Calrke had her hands full with Russell’s execution, even though it wasn’t clear why she’d have to be the one to organize it (especially since Indra herself seems to be capable of dealing with the politics) and Clarke didn’t look too busy the rest of the episode.
I’m glad we’re done with the plot of Madi being Heda or having to pretend to be Heda. Although I’m sure this will haunt her still, because she has memories of other Commanders - including Becca and Sheidheda, and she may find it the easiest to recognize SH, because she knows him better than anyone.
I completely understand why Clarke wasn’t going to let Madi order Wonkru members to perform such a dangerous task - she doesn’t want to let Madi feel responsible for sending people to their deaths, feel the same guilt she did, but at an even younger age.
Gaia telling the truth both was and wasn’t the right thing to do - morally right, but with potentially terrible consequences, if no welders had been found. Here’s a song for her by one of my favorite bands. On the other hand, Raven lied to people in the name of necessity and the greater good of them all, and achieved her goal but ended up sending people to their deaths, and felt the consequences of lying.
One revelation I really liked is that the guy from Sangedakru thinks of the infamous Dark Commander as “Sangedakru’s greatest champion”. That feels a lot more realistic than the idea that all Grounders hate him and think of him as a monster - even though their culture is based on war and killing, and we’ve seen other Grounder leaders (Queen Nia) be just as ruthless. Sheidheda being from another clan helps makes sense of Indra’s story from 6x13 of the time SH “took Trikru” and was going from village to village and killing everyone who refused to kneel. I’ve been wondering for a long time what exactly Heda were commanding before Lexa united the clans. I suppose they were trying to command, but clans were still divided and preferred Hedas from their own. And it seems that Sheidheda was also trying to ‘unite’ the clans, but not by negotiations! Of course he is considered a monster by people from all the other clans, whom he was killing and torturing and trying to conquer, but is still remembered as a hero by his own clan. Of course. That’s how it usually goes.
Small moments of Sheidheda enjoying the fact he’s corporeal again - from touching his own arms to eating a cookie - are a nice touch.
I like the fact that Sheidheda is smart and much sneakier than the pompous Russell was. He had to be smart to be able to manipulate the AI in the way no other Commander could, not even Becca, its creator, ti isolate the other Commanders, get control of Madi, and later download himself to Russell’s mind drive. SH was also using the captivity to read some of the books he’s found and apparently gain some technical knowledge about Sanctum,
Delilah’s parents are finally back. I don’t think we had seen them since they killed Priya. And Trey (the annoying “adjustor” who was brainwashing Jordan) can go f(ck himself. Really? Blaming Delilah’s parents for avenging her death?
I’m still unsure where exactly the show is going with Jordan. His brainwashing will have to be addressed at some point. It may not have been fully successful - he doesn’t think of the Primes as gods - but it was sure enough for him to stop despising them as murderers and to start believing their BS (and even to form some sort of attachment to Priya). If he weren’t brainwashed, he’d be spending time with Delilah’s grieving parents, rather than the people who worship her murderers. Right now, the show is playing it ambiguously, so some people may even forget about brainwashing and just see Jordan as a gullible naive guy (which he is, of course, he grew up just interacting with his parents) or as Jordan sees himself, as a moral compass/substitute for his father. Someone should tell him that Monty was never naive and knew when it was necessary to fight and kill, even though he hated it and tried to avoid it. Maybe realizing that he’s been manipulated by the Devout and by SH will be a wake-up call.
Jackson has had more character focus in S7 than he had for seasons - the mild doctor now wants revenge for his mentor-mother figure. Good to see more focus on his and Miller’s relationship, including their arguments. What Jackson said about Miller seems to have hurt Miller, who’s still feeling guilty for his role in the Blodreina regime. Maybe this Mackson disagreement contributes to Miller deciding to leave, to prove something to himself, and save Bellamy this time, since he didn’t do it in season 5.
Memori continue to be adorable. and we learn that Raven having no respect for her friends’ privacy is a recurring thing. Another snippet about the life on the Ring.
There was one line that didn’t make sense to me. Raven to Murphy: “Go do your job, be Emori’s moral anchor”. What?! Isn’t it usually the exact opposite?
Speaking of couples - Hatch called Nikki “Honey bunny”. That has to be a Pulp Fiction reference. Raven got the job done here, but I feel like Hatch’s death will have dire consequences for the possibility of peace in Sanctum. Both because he was the more optimistic and tolerant one, willing to expect good and to try to work to earn respect, and because Nikki is now going to be even angrier and more extreme. And just like we had different views about Sheidheda among the Grounders, here we see different views among prisoners about McCreary - Hatch calls him a jackass he won’t miss, but Nikki thinks he would have fought for the rights and better treatment of the prisoners. (I wonder what any of them have been told about Diyoza.)
“Welcome to the world of grey”
A few more words about Raven’s storyline -
One thing that bothers me about this storyline is the idea that this is the first time Raven is in the "world of grey". I guess the writing staff Murphy doesn't remember that time when she tried to give him to the Grounders to be tortured and killed in Finn's place for a crime Finn committed. She also tried to get Clarke to kill Lexa and start a war over Finn in that same episode, basically to sacrifice a bunch of people for him. There was also that time when she tortured Lincoln with electric shocks to save Finn. Or that time when she was withholding medicine from the dying people, including a dying child, because of rationing. Or the time when she was ready to turn the plug on 283 prisoners in cryo sleep. Or when she gave Echo an OK to kill Shaw, her ally, in season 5.
But all this got forgotten because she's never before had to deal with the consequences of her actions. Lincoln didn't die, the others stopped her from turning over Murphy and Finn gave himself up, Clarke opted to mercy kill Finn and do what's best for everyone instead, Murphy stole the meds and gave them to Abby so the child was given the medicine but died anyway, they didn't have to - and then couldn't - kill the prisoners in their sleep, Echo did not kill Shaw...
There were also plenty of times when Raven gave others the responsibility - like when she decided Clarke needed to make the list of 100 people who'll get to survive Praimfaya in the Arkadia as shelter (while passively aggressively bashing her at the same time, which was weird: "I'm in charge of rationing, but deciding who lives or dies is your specialty"), and then Clarke got blamed for it.U
Now, the writers (going by Jason's recent interview where he said that Raven had never done anything morally wrong in the first 6 seasons) seem to have forgotten about it - which I guess is why they wrote her as a self-righteous moralizer in season 6 - unintentionally making her really hypocritical. Which I hated, because she used to be one of my favorite characters, but became quite hard to like in season 6.
The way I see it, it’s best to ignore ridiculous BTS statements of the writers when those statements don’t match canon. I’m all for “Death of the Author” in that case, at least. If we just ignore it, Raven’t entire arc starts making more sense. Maybe they had some weird idea that they were writing her as the moral compass of the show in season 6 (but people who have acted as a moral compass usually don’t say things like “I’ve never done anything wrong in my life!” and refuse to acknowledge their own mistakes), but I’ve always interpreted Raven’s behavior in S6 as lashing out - she was hurting and lashing out, because she had been betrayed by her substitute mom Abby in the same way and for the same reasons as her real mom; she also felt betrayed by Clarke; and then she lost Shaw, the one person who would have put her first, so she felt she had no one left who would. (Though she did get better later in the season, making up with Abby, acting less judgmental and making up with Clarke. )
This is either the show course-correcting her earlier characterization, or fixing a long-standing flaw - Raven’s tendency to be harsh and judgmental to others, which had already been there before season 6. This was seen in this episode, too, from some of her disparaging comments to Murphy, to her contempt for the Eligius prisoners (not that this isn’t understandable, with the fact that she had been tortured by McCreary’s men).
So this feels like an important step in Raven starting to face the world of grey she often tried to see as black and white, and for once be in a situation where she has, almost directly, caused people’s deaths, by decisions she made on her own.
(The show also seems to be course-correcting a few other things about Raven: she looks more like her old self, she has gotten back some of her snark, and the show is showing her disability more - after having largely ignored it for the last couple of seasons.)
To be fair to Raven, she did not know from the start that she was sending Hatch and others to their deaths. She had assumed at first that the task would be dangerous, but not lethal. When she realized it was, the men were already irradiated, and it was necessary to fix the reactor so it would not kill everyone. The bigger problem was that Raven had lied - because she did not respect these people enough to give them an opportunity to maybe volunteer while knowing what the danger was. I think that Hatch, at least, still would have. He did prove smarter than she thought but realizing what was going on, while she was still lying to them that they weren’t going to die in minutes, and, contrary to what she had assumed - he did still want to fix the reactor, in spite of knowing he’d die, to save someone he loved. Raven also showed a similar disrespect towards Murphy - locking him inside to get the job done. It feels like this is something that has never been fully resolved between them - the fact that Murphy was a POS in season 1 and crippled Raven, but also, that she was fully prepared to give him to the Grounders to be tortured and killed in Finn’s place. I feel like this is going to make her start thinking differently and maybe give people the benefit of a doubt.
I knew Nikki was going to beat the crap out of Raven from the trailer, but I didn’t know what her reasons would be. It felt like Raven herself almost wanted this as punishment, because she felt guilty, and would rather take a beating than comfort (”Don’t touch me!”) And I’m sure Raven can understand how Nikki feels, since she has lost Shaw so recently, and Finn before.
I liked Hatch’s conversation with Murphy and the parallels Murphy could see there - Hatch and Nikki were another Bonnie and Clyde-style thief or rather robber duo.... except it went too far and they became murderers. Which Memori were not... but Murphy was a murderer even in season 1. In season 6, Murphy died and thought he had gone to hell for his sins, so it must have resonated with him when Hatch replied that, no, he wasn’t looking for redemption, because “There is no making up for it”.
Body count: James (RIP to yet another Arker from Wonkru, though we first met him in 6x02), his Sanctum girlfriend, and 4 Eligius prisoners including Hatch (which means that 32 remain).
Rating: 7/10

A Few Thoughts on Liz and her co-agent
I’m sure you can guess who and it’s all under the cut so buyer beware...
Yeah so the co-agent is Ressler of course because it’s not like Aram has much to do other than be the supportive fiancé to Samar which I fully support but otherwise what a waste of a seriously talented actor.
But I digress....
First, this isn’t one of those posts where it starts out “Hey this isn’t about shipping...” because TBL is really quite a different animal when it comes to ships than just about any show I can think of. So while I will always say ship as you please, I will also feel free to give my opinion when something feels not quite right just as others may about mine.
Second, nothing I saw in 6.8 or 6.9 in any way indicates Ressler and Liz are anything other than agents who work on the same task force. That being said here is what is pretty much annoying the hell out of me where those two are concerned (in no particular order):
The Laziness Factor: its deja vu all over again with that 2b drop in that Tom always loved Liz...which felt fake because it was, forced because it was and flew in the face of established canon. So pardon my disbelief that Liz and Ressler are best buds after barely speaking or sharing scenes from 3a thru 5b. That’s like saying my bff at work is that guy in my department who I see every 2nd Tuesday of the month for the staff meeting. We’re not and neither are Ressler and Liz.
This in no way implies Ressler and Liz = K2 because they don’t but it leads me to the next issue.
The Problematic Factor: There are Degrees of Wrongness with regards to past wrongs but just like Tom will always be that guy that put a gun to Liz’s temple, Ressler will always be the man that shoved one in her face while confirming he’d shoot her. We all know the story...Liz nearly died in the box if not for our hero Aram yada yada but here’s my issue with it all. Liz too easily forgave Tom for his wrongs and did the same with Ressler. And it’s been a problem from the pilot. Agent BoyScout has sniped and tattled his way through the series and so many times Liz stands there mutely and takes it. His arrogance nearly gets her murdered by the Director and the next time she sees him its Hi! About time! Lets go take me to jail :))
It weakens her character time and again and add that to her habit of crucifying Red for every sin real or imagined really puts her firmly in the unlikable category.
The Boys Rule Factor: Did Tom leave the Liz Plot Device to Ressler in his will? When Liz should be in a recovery arc, moving on arc, getting it together arc, she is still on this revenge quest with the added benefit of now being joined at the hip to Ressler. All Of A Sudden. This undynamic duo get the majority of task force screen time and it’s a waste....and for what? To give Ressler something to do? Ok we get it. He’s the new fave because it certainly isn’t Liz and never has been.
And making Liz the betrayer (I’ll give you one guess who I think it should have been) ensured her help to Red would be limited and dubious. It Again pitted her against the viewer’s favorite criminal making her look like the big meanie which she is. It guaranteed she’d be stuck with either Ressler or Nightmare Jen both equally tiresome at this point.
5b had the TF pairing off in multiple combos that kept things interesting and felt much more balanced. Liz benefits from interactions with Aram, Samar and Coop when he isn’t playing the unnecessary father figure. It humanizes her. Why not let her have a moment of concern for Samar. These two women had recent near death experiences and Samar is clearly struggling....Hey I know Liz recovered in one episode but god forbid she pick up on that. God forbid she see anything of the world around her while she is obsessed with the past.
But anyways suddenly Coop is a shipper apparently. Yeah I smell a rat and it’s not our pal at the prison I promise you. And who gets that coveted courtroom appearance? Right because why would Liz facing off with Red in court be exciting to see?
The Agnes Factor: Again well covered territory but the idea that so much valuable screen time can be wasted on the dead zone while 9 episodes go by with Agnes fading into oblivion. Excuse me? But hey I found out Ressler’s cousin was getting married and he’s feeling that dating anxiety and then ya know there’s this place to hire an actor....NO PLEASE CONTINUE BECAUSE RESSLER’S LOVE LIFE IS INFINITELY MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIZ CASUALLY DROPPING A LINE ABOUT HER KID TO FILL OUT HER CHARACTER A LITTLE AND PERHAPS MAKE HER SEEM YA KNOW HUMAN AND AN INVOLVED CAPABLE PARENT.
The Liz Factor: I’ll say what I said when Tom was the issue. It wasn’t Tom’s story just like it isn’t Ressler’s story. It’s Liz and Red’s story, both separately and together, in whatever way that progresses. With Liz such a mess of poor writing and this central relationship so fractured nothing else should distract from reconciling their dynamic and moving them toward the conclusion which is approaching this year or the next most likely. Viewers despise Liz and Megan refers to her as an antihero at this point just to deal with how she is written. Liz’s inner journey, Liz the parent and her story with Red are quite enough with regards to her character all of which are horrendously underdeveloped and mismanaged without adding another disaster on top of it.
After watching I was Yet Again left with the feeling that Liz is creating one mess after another and the only way to deal with that is to run and ask for help....always from a man on this show and since it was a double feature we had her going to Ressler and then to Red in the space of minutes. If this wasn’t such an old tiresome theme it probably wouldn’t seem old and tiresome. If she for once learned from an experience.....but, again, well covered territory. And I’ll just stipulate it’s OOC for her to have gone to Ressler and not Aram and Samar or even Dembe but that’s a rant for another day.
The writers should just once take an interest in Liz as an individual character and perhaps then she’d become a compelling woman, mother, agent, profiler, friend and develop meaningful relationships with those that the Vast Majority of Viewers are interested in.

some thoughts on s7
this ended up me kind of rambling about my thoughts and feelings on s7 that are all over the place, so please bear with me if these thoughts don’t seem too well organized or anything:
now, before i even actually saw the season, i was just snooping around here on tumblr to see what ppl’s reactions were, and i kind of let it get to the better of me. some people were just over dramatizing what was happening in s7, and their negativity on the season made me believe that i would wholeheartedly dislike the season. i saw all the posts with people going on about how if youre still watching the show, you should immediately drop it (and it was mainly centered around few central complaints going around right now, pretty sure you can figure that out on your own on what that was). it was understandable on where the frustration was stemming from. i only got 3 hours of sleep because of what people were saying despite not even seeing the season for myself and seeing how events would ultimately play out. but like they would always say, you shouldn’t let other people’s judgement affect you, and it really shouldn’t be the determining factor on how you view things or how your opinions are formed.
when i watched the season, my general reaction to it was that its “ok”, i didn’t think it was entirely and absolutely terrible. i already know how a lot of us didn’t like the way a few characters got treated. i mainly thought that the animation looked nicer and improved in some of the action scenes. the writing was kind of “meh” for me when it came to whatever certain plot points that got introduced or continued. watching it on my own actually removed any thoughts of me disliking/hating the season entirely.
even though i say this, the things i mention here are mainly about some issues that kept being brought up by people and circled around ever since s7 got released.
in terms of character development? besides what we’ve been given for hunk, which has been awesome so far (i dont really feel like i have much to go in depth with for this, its already self explanatory in the season itself), i guess its going somewhere. i’ve got some hope, but it’s not on the level where its overwhelmingly high and optimistic. everyone’s been talking about the lack of actual lance development, how he’s constantly being reduced to being the “dumb” one, but we actually see him take initiative when needed. lance has been shown to stepping up and taking his role into account when handed the opportunity to do so, and it was multiple times when lance was given the re-established position of keith’s right-hand man. despite whatever remarks keith made on lance, whether or not they were supposed to come off as teasing/joking for the audience, keith does still seem to believe in lance’s capabilities. if he didn’t, keith wouldn’t have trusted lance the task on leading their team on their mission(s). lance actually got scenes where he could shine off as being portrayed more than what he’s constantly being insulted as. there are still some scenes of them showing mutual trust and respect for each other, especially with lance voting for keith during “the feud” and the reasoning he gave. but yeah, some parts it did seem like keith was kind of ooc in certain episodes when comparing his personality back to s3. who knows why keith gave the reasoning he did when he voted for lance. EDIT: acoolemocucumber’s post makes a good note on pointing out how during the voting section, keith is actually the first one to start writing. it’s later revealed that he chose lance on first pick. lance was the second to finish. even though he was peeking over at hunk and pidge to see who they chose, he instead decides to choose keith. keith choosing lance as a first choice without pure hesitance is amazing to see, and it really shows he trusts and respects lance a lot despite the reasoning he gave. then again, actions speak louder than words and countless times keith has shown to be that kind of guy by relaying a lot of important tasks to lance throughout this season.
i’ll do say that i enjoyed most of the scenes they shared when they had to take a leading initiative with each other though. that was pretty nice to see again, and it felt like a decade since i ever saw that kind of dynamic from those two.
there were a lot of action packed scenes, and i watched through those entirely to see if there’s any important plot detail to know, or make note of, while watching the ep to make sure i wouldnt be lost with whats happening so far. some people found it boring, some people found the fight scenes amazing and stunning. certain scenes had me really amazed on how well it was animated, some other scenes not so much in terms of repetition, and thats kind of bound to happen if we’re provided an arc where its continuing to keep the tense vibes on the recurring events with the current situation of the season.
this is just merely my take on it, (my memory’s not the best with how much information im recalling from those 13 episodes) but it kind of felt lackluster with how the paladins barely got any kind of break where they could seriously spend one episode on unwinding, having in-depth conversations one on one, and not be so worried about the galra all the time. sure, there’s a few scenes like that in a few episodes, but it didn’t seem enough to make it feel like it balanced out whatever conflicts or character issues were newly or constantly introduced.
ive read posts already about how some people had liked the season a lot, loved the actions scenes and all. but to me, some conflicts that took place seemed out of place or just didn’t really align well (idk how else to phrase it) especially with adam’s death, and i had minor mixed feelings about ep “the journey within”.
about adam, it just seemed out of place and rushed for them to introduce shiro’s s/o only for them to take him away. we don’t get to see how fleshed out adam could’ve been, and i’ve already seen the frustration/rage people had with adam being killed off when considering how the creators told the viewers that they were gonna get to see adam, but weren’t told how long we’ll see him (plus the entire thing abt lgbt rep that was promised?). the thing with adam left me on a weird note, mainly because if you were just given no other info besides the info from the season, you wouldn’t even be given too explicit information about the relationship shiro had with adam. from there, it felt like there was no point in adding adam into the story if the viewers aren’t given clear information on what kind of bond shiro and adam had besides adam saying that they’ve been through a lot together (or whatever he said, idr it too much) and the “how important am i to you” line for lgbt rep points. its just pretty vague “””representation””” thats just leaving the audience to make the most out of what they’re given. we’re only given confirmation that they used to be fiancés from what they said in panels/interviews, but never in the show. im not sure what to really think about that, my mind’s just kind of in the void when i think about it. but this part i structured kind of badly and i apologize for that, but hopefully those of you can get what im saying.
as for “the journey within”, it was reasonable for the way characters acted; theyre all tired, frustrated, and losing hope and were floating in space waiting for nothing but at least something to happen. keith snaps, gets irritated at everyone, lance is also the one to lash back out at keith saying keith ran away, giving the audience a big sign that lance was hurt by keith’s disappearance/leave from the team. but for keith to quickly later on go take everything back in just a few minutes seemed really awkward for me. its a kids show and all, but i just kind of didn’t like how that one section of that episode was written ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just a feeling i had with it. however, i did love how hunk took a lot of the initiative during the episode, it’s showing his growth of actually him continuing to fully accept his role as a paladin and determined to not back down regardless of his own cowardice that could prevent him from doing so at any time.
and there’s the thing about k/acx: ive already seen a bunch of people going somewhere along the lines of disbelief, anger, frustration on how keith is getting het endgame but when i saw the episodes, his interactions with acxa didn’t even seem borderline romantic to me at all? to me, i merely saw 2 characters actually getting on better terms with each other and returning the favor. the two no longer see each other as enemies but allies now. keith only went back to save acxa because it seemed like he believed that he felt in debt to acxa for trying to save his team. ezor and zethrid merely poked fun at acxa, but if you consider previous seasons where acxa and keith interacted, the two just continued to return the favor of owing whatever debt they had for each other. it didn’t seem like there was any romantic tension intended in any of the scenes where they interacted. we already know acxa betrayed ezor and zethrid by switching sides, and if you were betrayed you’re bound to make at least a remark on whoever betrayed you either way. in this case, ezor and zethrid found it reasonable to make a comment on acxa’s alliance with keith, hence how they teased acxa possibly crushing on keith (whether or not thats actually confirmed, its just left ambiguous and up for interpretation at that point). there’s the parallel with how they animated the shot between keith and acxa talking to each other, but neither did that one seem romantic to me? i hope im not the only one who thought that? the other scene people talked about was when acxa is in the same scene where keith was present when he visits his dad’s grave with krolia. i dont get why some people were upset about that either. even though its at the last ep of s7, there’s nothing to imply that keith invited acxa to go visit his dad’s grave with him or anything if you consider their placement in the scene. if keith did care about acxa’s presence being there when he visited the grave, wouldn’t he at least acknowledge acxa’s presence by showing obvious attention to her, or have her close to where him and krolia were? she remains distant but respectful of keith in the scene. i dont see where these scenes would imply keith automatically finds a romantic interest in acxa. acxa to keith? maybe, we don’t entirely know. keith to acxa? i dont see it being implied anywhere at all. not to mention keith’s “can’t we just fight” statement right after ezor and zethrid teased acxa about having a romantic interest in keith. again, its just my take on what’s being presented and my own thoughts on how people are viewing it.
and with a/l, it leaves me on a bad note with how its progressing if its really getting the sealed deal endgame. like most people have been saying, it would be good for them to be endgame if they were only written better. am i entirely convinced theyre endgame? not really because there’s that small chance where vld pulls a 180 and the show creators stay true to their words on lance not being a rebound, lance being someone’s first choice, lance getting what he needs, not what he wants. what’s being given/presented so far is just bad writing with how allura suddenly reciprocates feelings for lance out of nowhere despite showing consistent disinterest in lance’s advances in previous seasons. s4 and onward we see her seeing lance more than just an annoying flirt, and the two become better friends who could genuinely talk to each other without having allura annoyed with lance’s flirtatious antics, and without lance being reduced to a constant flirt. during allura’s interest in lotor, we’re yet again presented how allura doesn’t return feelings for lance, especially during the scene when the mice told her about lance’s feelings for her back in s6. she seems rather disappointed, pitiful, or uncomfortable with knowing how lance genuinely liked her when she liked lotor during that time. later on, allura’s been out of her previous love interest with lotor, and hasn’t shown returned much of the same interest in lance. sure, she hugged lance and he returned the hug, but that only seemed necessary in the moment for when allura had felt betrayed by someone she wholeheartedly trusted and fell in love with. she needed comfort from someone and the person she spoke to was lance who was able to lend her some comforting words. but that was about it. i’d like to say that considering that this is a kids show, it does give a bad incentive for children to develop on believing that if they continue to force their feelings onto someone else, the person they’re interested in will eventually like them back out of the blue, which is the worst course of action to take despite being rejected countless times (and its kind of being shown with what a/l has right now). to take this kind of scenario and to fix/put it with good writing would to just properly depict lance accepting rejection and allura staying true to her previous feelings on not reciprocating his feelings. in a general sense, we all know that we can’t always get what we want, and that’s an important moral that always gets taught over and over again even if youre a child or an adult. rejection and acceptance of the rejection is something that can be taught here through the romantic subplot they’ve been having. just deciding that they should become endgame out of nowhere would leave the writing very dull. having allura get out of her previous love interest with lotor only to quickly move onto lance just doesn’t leave off on a good note. it just reduces lance to a rebound and that’s about it.
the writing for me wasn’t really that breathtaking, overwhelming, or emotional or anything when it came to new plot points being presented (you know, all the fight scenes, galaxy garrison, that stuff). again, a lot of things seemed pretty rushed, i had mixed feelings for some but not all episodes. it was nice to see mostly everyone united back with their families and characters developing new motives for what they believe in doing. yet, the writing kind of just wasn’t on the level of where it actually gets me really interested and invested into the storyline like how it had back in s1 to early s3. i’ll still mention how the writing did it’s part in presenting development for hunk, though. i enjoyed that a lot.
some parts of the writing were questionable, some parts of the season were enjoyable, but it wasn’t entirely overwhelmingly disappointing for me. the season was on the bare minimum on having the writing go “decent”, but again it felt pretty “meh” and this is just my own feelings on it. people have their own opinions, frustrations, concerns, questions, some people loved it, some people severely hated it or just felt extremely disappointed.
the season has its peaks and lows, some pros and cons, but whatever you take from it is what you believe.
i’ll still keep watching the show to see how it ends, that’s for sure.

Tsutsu “Obsession”
I am sorry if this is very Ooc- especially from Tsuburaba’s part. And I hope I did well???
This fanfic was inspired by this prompt:

Tsuyu Asui was a student from the class he was supposed to compete against; and the love of his life. It all started as a normal high school crush, but with a little more spiciness. His mind had been pretty occupied by thoughts of her, since the little incident they had a few weeks ago. He couldn’t stop his sweet imagination from running and filling his mind with nonsense... And it was only getting worse as time went by. Holding her hand, squeezing it. Hugging her, never letting go of her. Kissing her, kissing her more. Never stopping their beautiful love story. He had never felt such a weird feeling around his chest area before. Tsuyu Asui was a student from the class he was supposed to compete against; and the girl of his dreams. And sure, “the girl of his dreams” wasn’t very different from the average cute girl. After all, he didn’t have high standards; and he liked anyone he had even the slightest romantic interaction with. But this time, it was real. He had fallen hard for her... It was different. The green-haired, short and unconventionally cute girl made him feel like no one else had before. He was young, so it made sense that he would be so weirded out on his first time feeling that way. But every time he remembered that moment, some ‘funny’ parts felt ticklish. And it was getting rather annoying. He was in love, and it was slowly driving him crazy. Not enough for anyone else to notice, but for him it was still terrifying. He was acting like usual. At school, with his friends, with his family... But he was hurting inside. He wasn’t ready to handle a rejection from her, but he couldn’t bear not being with her anymore. It was all very confusing, and tiring... But it felt worth it whenever he saw her hanging out with her friends, smiling. And he felt a nice warmth embracing him sweetly every time. He just hoped that one day, he would be able to get closer to her. That he would be able to call her his girlfriend. She was sweet, cute, smart. She was talented and strong. And he loved how calm and nice she always was. His dream was to hear her call him “Tsuburaba-chan”, and call her “Tsuyu-chan” in return. That for him, would mean a lot. He wanted to marry her one day, and have some very cool kids together. He could imagine having with her the best life... But he couldn’t even try to have a conversation with her. How would he...? What was he even supposed to talk about with her? Amphibians? And even if he was good at doing normal speaking with her; Monoma would hate him for that. He would probably insist that he has to use her or something. He would tear him apart, just like he wants to do with the 1-A guys. He sighed, lost in his thoughts. And as soon as he felt two pats on his shoulder, he started to freak out. He looked around quickly before turning to the one who had patted him. His weird-shaped eyes had widened and he gasped. -“I am sorry”- As she spoke to him, it felt like his heart was going to explode. His face was turning redder than ever, and he didn’t know if he would be able to handle the situation. -“I didn’t mean to surprise you like that”- She was looking down, a little embarrassed. And she clearly felt guilty, but it was all his fault. He had been so focused on thinking about her, that he hadn’t even noticed there was someone behind him. He felt so dumb for having overreacted like that. His chest ached a little, looking at her kind of sad facial expression. He was being too slow, and he felt bad for her. But words just wouldn’t come out of his mouth... He feared that he would do more dumb things by accident, and completely lose the chance to talk with his crush. Because he KNEW that it would probably be a one time thing... And even more after how he was not even responding to her. -“I... I-it’s... I’m...”- He took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment, wanting to disappear and never be seen by her again. But he felt relieved as soon as he heard a small giggle coming from the frog girl. -“I meant that it’s okay... Hah”- He scratched the back of his head, still very embarrassed but feeling less anxious now... And She was smiling sweetly. -“Tsuburaba-chan”- his eyes widened a little and he almost let out a gasp, as he finally heard her say his name in her usual cute way. -“Setsuna-chan asked me to give you something, ribbit”- He couldn’t resist to her beautiful croaks; they were a masterpiece. He would have a pet frog only to have a similar sound to hers at home. But... Setsuna? Why would she ask someone else to give him something? And... His crush? Was it really just a coincidence? He had gotten lost in his thoughts once again, so Tsuyu just waved her hand in front of his face. -“You get distracted too easily, ribbit”- Her inexpressive face was killing him; it felt like bullets going through his heart whenever her words started sounding a little colder. He wanted to see her smile all the time... Even if he knew that it was due to her quirk, that she always had that facial expression. He sighed a little disappointed, now knowing that she had talked to him only for doing a favor to a friend. And the small girl handed him the little note sent by his classmate. -“Thanks... Asui-san...”- He took the folded sheet of paper and looked down. It hurt him having to call her that, but he wouldn’t call her anything else unless he got her permission first... Which made it even more surprising when she did it; right when his hopes of even having a friendship with her had disappeared. -“Please call me Tsuyu”- That simple sentence was more than enough for his heart to feel like it was melting. He loved every single thing about her, and was very grateful to Setsuna for having asked HER to give him that note... Even if it was rather suspicious. His eyes widened once again, and he covered his mouth with his hands... Just like the one time they had (even if she probably hadn’t even noticed), shared their first kiss. But that little action caused the paper to fall from his hands to the ground; which also caused something pretty bad. Both of them quickly tried to reach for the paper... Which made their hands touch and their heads almost hit each other. His hand was laying on top of hers, and his face was fully red at this point. He looked right into her eyes, after seeing her cute cheeks turn a bight shade of red. His heart was beating faster than ever, and his breathing was rather unstable. He was sweating and losing his mind. And she was just staring at him, looking as calm as usual... But with a little bit of embarrassment. Even someone like her would react that way to a situation like that. He couldn’t take it anymore. He squeezed her hand and used the other one to grab her face, pulling her just a little closer to him; Enough like to share a kiss. Tsuyu’s eyes looked even bigger than usual, and they wouldn’t close... But his wouldn’t either. He didn’t want to ever stop looking at her; he was afraid that even blinking would be wasting a chance to look at her for even a second more. -“Tsuburaba-chan...”- as she tried to speak and get up, he pulled her into a very tight embrace. -“Tsuyu-chan... Please... L-let me stay like this for a bit longer...”- she was shocked by this strange situation... And not even her tongue would save her from it. Her first instinct was to hug him back, as a way to calm him a little. It felt very warm... It felt warm in a rather unsettling way. Her skin was starting to feel itchy, and she didn’t understand any of what was happening. What was all that about anyway? They had only interacted once, and it couldn’t even really count as an interaction. So... How did she end up in that weird thing with this “stranger”? She gasped as she felt tears rolling down her face, that weren’t hers. He was crying, and she was put into a state of great confusion and shock. -“T-Tsuyu-chan... Will you please... Be with me?”- He had completely lost his mind; and his vision of what was wrong and right was very blurry. He knew he wasn’t okay... But he was finally getting close to her. And that was all that mattered. -“Y-you are taking too long to answer... So you will be mine anyway...”- She could handle real bad villain situations... And even risking her life for someone else without doublethinking it. But she couldn’t handle this obsessive and creepy ‘romantic’ situation. Some years ago, she barely had a friend; but now... She was someone’s crush. Someone who was obsessed with her and wouldn’t care about whether she wanted the same or not. And in that kind of place she was currently in... She didn’t have any idea of how to react in a way she didn’t end up hurt. What if he really tried hurting her, if she rejected him? She barely knew anything about this guy. Yes, she had defeated him before, but... It was different. And now, she was in a panic situation. He could be more dangerous than he seemed, since he was that crazy. A whole minute had passed, and she was still in complete silence. And he was still hugging her, very tightly. He would take her with him anywhere he went. He would keep her forever, feed her and not let her escape. He wouldn’t just let her go and leave him being all miserable and lonely. Some would be worried about her disappearance, but... That didn’t worry him. He knew he was capable of doing anything for her now. Since that first encounter with her, he started to lose himself. He started to lose his mind until there was nothing good left of it. And now, he would just live to be with her and didn’t care if he got caught. He just wanted to be with her, forever.

TW: MENTION OF DOMESTIC ABUSE, EMOTIONAL ABUSE, DRUGS & LONG TERM INJURY.
- Theodore ‘teddy’ King was born in Hunts Point, the Bronx to mother, Kelani and father, Jackson who split up when he was only a few years old. Like many kids growing up in Hunts Point, he saw way too much and often got closer than his parents would like to think to the realities of getting by, by whatever means. But his mother did a good job at keeping him on the straight and narrow, by keeping him in line and making sure he went to school and straight from school, to extra curriculars. When he wasn’t in school, Theo went to church with his mother and sang in the church choir, something he didn’t particularly enjoy but he knew better than to say no to his mother. Theo’s dad, a man some would say was quite the opposite to his church going ex-wife, was involved in the darker side of the neighbourhood and was a well known drug dealer within the area. Theo didn’t know this until he was older, of course, when he started to get to know his dad a little more and began to doubt whether the path his mother had taken him on was the better one.
- His mother would say that Theo managed to stay on her path until he was about 15, when the thrill and egotistical feeling of trying to run the streets just appealed to him too much. He saw friends die, he was part of a gang and well, Theo ended up doing what you’ve got to do to stay strong as a gang, things that his mother never knew about, until his parents evening came up at school that year. His mother asked to see his extra curricular teachers (she was extra af – but knew that it was too easy to get dragged up in shit where they lived and so she had to be) and see how he was doing, but only then did she find out that they didn’t know, because he hadn’t been going. She was LIVID. His mother banned him from leaving the house without her, she escorted him everywhere and things got even worse when she found out that her ex-husband had KNOWN about it. He’d just chosen not to tell her and hadn’t spoken to his son for months.
- This could’ve gone one of two ways, Theo could’ve lost his shit and become completely defiant or, he could’ve sorted out his shit and cut his ties with the streets and his gang where he could. One afternoon after class, his favourite teacher at school had asked him to stay behind. Theo worried that he’d done something wrong, or they’d found out some of the things that he had done (the teachers weren’t naïve to know that even the kids who turned up to school were still out doing dodgy shit when they weren’t in class) but he was wrong. His teacher just sat with him, talking to him about his life and where he’d been, something Theo began to relate to the more he told him. He’d been in a gang, before a youth worker in the area got through to him and convinced him to take a different path – not a boring one, but a better one. Did he want to waste his life on the type of pride that comes from having power as a result of fear?
- And so that was that. Conveniently enough, Theo’s mother ended up marrying this teacher (which they laugh about now), but Theo always said he’d be forever grateful for the two of them for steering him back to the path he was meant to tread. Theo was aiming big, from then on. He already knew he wanted to play football professionally, it was something he adored and could see himself doing forever, but he’d slacked off a little. He needed to get back to where he was and so, he had to study overtime. When his friends wanted him out, doing what they used to do, Theo had to say no, which was hard in itself when he knew what they were capable of. Luckily, there were only a few months left till the end of senior year and Theo knew that if he could get through them, he’d be out of the Bronx for at least 4 years – enough time for them to forget he ever left.
- And there it was. Laying on the doormat. A letter from Notre Dame, a scholarship to play football for them for a whole 4 years. So off he went. After a tearful goodbye from his mother and new step-dad, a non-existent goodbye to his father, Theo landed in Notre Dame and well, a new adventure began. He formed friendships, he drank, he danced, he did everything you’re supposed to do at college, like meeting a girl and falling in love during the last and arguably most important year of your college education.
- His best friend and room-mate, saw it all happen. He saw (and instigated) the two meeting and watched everything progress from then on. He was relegated from their room, went on double dates and well, pretty much fell in love alongside Theo. But what his best friend didn’t see, because Theo was so good at hiding it, was when things went wrong. He didn’t notice the girl becoming possessive, controlling, emotionally manipulative and then, physically violent. He didn’t notice that Theo had began to lie about where he was, what he was doing. He didn’t notice the bruises when Theo got changed before and after practice and if he did, Theo already had his lie made up – he’d gotten into a fight on a night out. His best friend didn’t see any of that, yet perhaps that would’ve saved Theo from the worst years of his life.
- Straight out of college, Theo moved in with this girl. He didn’t go back to the Bronx, he went to her hometown in Texas and there he was, alone. He’d isolated all of his friends, like his best friend from college and team mates from the football team and eventually, much to the girl’s satisfaction, he’d cut off his mother (this one took a while). He was completely and utterly alone with her, and his feelings. He took assault after assault after assault, emotional attack after emotional attack and became a shell of himself. Anxious, on edge… Theo wasn’t the charismatic guy he used to be. He was completely under control, accused of everything despite doing nothing and utterly depressed, unable to bring himself to do anything about his situation because he felt so worthless.
- This carried on for 2 years after Theo left college, until one day, his mother couldn’t take it any longer. She found his address and she turned up to their house and thankfully, the girl wasn’t home. But Theo was, and he was in one of the worst states he’d ever been in. He wouldn’t even answer the door at first, so his mother (being who she was) allowed herself in through the back door and well, she couldn’t believe what she had seen. Theo would tell you now, that he was shocked that a murder didn’t take place that night, but back then, he didn’t even know his mother had arrived. Theo’s mother hauled her son into her car with barely any of his belongings and drove as fast as she could back to their home, feeling furious, devastated and completely heartbroken.
- The next few months were a blur for Theo. He’d still tell you to this day that until he managed to see a tiny speck of light in his dark tunnel, everything that happened before is in pieces in his head. Of course, the girl still tried to contact him, as well as trying to turn up at his house, yet Theo’s dad came to the rescue with that when necessary. Not that Theo remembered that. Of course, his mother began to pursue a court case and after a rough year, mostly managed to get the result that they’d hoped for. Aggravated assault in the second degree, 10 years in prison. Sure, they’d hoped for more but with Theo’s being unable to recall a lot of the events that occurred due to a permanent brain injury that the girl had left him with, that was the best that they could get.
- Now, Theo lives in Crownsville and managed to get a job at a coffee shop called Cuppa Joe. His memory is not what it used to be after his brain injury and he often suffers with headaches and dizziness. Not to mention, his levels of frustration with himself and with others. He is never violent, as he knows the long lasting effects that violence can have, but people who are unaware of his past can often take his frustration the wrong way. His mother would say that you can see the old Theo in him occasionally, but she fears that the fully old Theo has been lost forever. He can still think for himself, he can still do the things an average person can, but he’s not the same as he used to be and as for football, the risk to his head is just too great. Nobody in Crownsville knows about Theo’s past and that’s the way Theo intends to keep it. He feels a lot of shame in relation to what happened to him and fears that men in particular, especially his old football team, would see him as weak and frail if they knew. He fears that women will see him as pathetic, especially people he is romantically involved with given the long term effects he has suffered in terms of his fertility.
- Basically, Theo has been on a hell of a ride. A ride he did not expect nor know how to get off. His life started off pretty alright and then went a little pear shaped and sadly now, he is paying the price of someone else’s actions, no matter how much jail time she has got. Not to mention the fact that he keeps receiving letters and phone calls from Texas County Jail. Theo knows that one day, he will be able to move on from what happened to him but he also knows that it won’t be a quick fix.

i have nowhere else to post up this but i feel like i definitely want to get my impressions of the fe4 fuyuki manga out somewhere and trying to put this in a tweet thread would prolly be annoying
i fully expect my opinion to change with time cause i think making judgments on something in less than 24 hours of consuming it... doesn’t usually lead to the long-lasting opinions. manga and fe4 spoilers both in here under the cut. i’ll try not to judge the manga in terms of merely deviating from the original game too much cause it’s allowed to take its own liberties, and sometimes those deviations can actually be a really good thing ( e.g. gaiden manga for the most part ). if you want to know abt my opinion on deviations, i’m still Bitter(tm) that they took out lene. this’ll be pretty unorganized cause i’m just spitting out my thoughts without revision cause i don’t intend to make this an actual literary analysis essay.
anyway, moving forth:
my opinion isn’t really positive. might as well just get that out the gate before i get into details.
i think the main issue i have is that this manga... feels very unfocused in what exactly it’s trying to accomplish. is it a war story? they don’t finish the war. is it a love story? well, that really only came in about halfway and doesn’t focus on the euphoria of love, just the angst associated with a love pentagon. is it a coming of age story? maybe. this might be the closest answer to the truth.
the pacing definitely leaves something to be desired. we go from pretty fast action of seliph being introduced and then taking up arms and then rescuing leif, but... then it just slows down for a filler chapter with all the army members hanging around and talking about how much they like seliph but how distant he is. it’s a weirdly slow chapter that comes out of nowhere, and the mood whiplash is so great; seeing leif go from being this vengeful, frustrated teen who just realized his god worship of seliph was unfounded to leif being a happy-go-lucky guy acting pestering others and teasing them in just a short amount of time... is Very Odd. i’m not against leif being able to show a more casual persona, but i definitely think it could’ve been handled better.
ced’s introduction is as this all mighty, powerful mysterious man and... then all that buildup just goes into making him a background character. it feels wasted, which is how i feel about a lot of this manga honestly.
the manga tries to have some arcs for characters, and i think it pulls it off best with tine, arthur, leif ( in his first few appearances before filler ) but otherwise it’s kinda Meh. there’s just a ton of loose ends that just don’t get resolved at all. i’m cool with this usually, but the fact that the only thing that seemed to really be concluded was seliph’s romance arc and nothing else made it feel extremely unfinished. the other characters in this love pentagon don’t really get closure either, ESPECIALLY FEBAIL.
speaking of febail. Well. i wish he was something more than just “the love rival” character. he’s introduced to get patty/lester development and to further seliph/lana as well. it’s a shame cause febail actually is one of my favorite gen 2 characters ngl and to see him getting reduced to this is.... Hrm. larcei also suffers from this issue too, not really having a character outside of being tended to by lana ( to show that lana is a capable cleric ), to be fawned over by iuchar and iucharba, and to fawn over shanan. ulster might be even worse, really only existing to be the protective older brother to larcei, but when she barely gets any screentime, he might as well be replaced by a stop sign.
i’m not saying we need multiple chapters focusing on characters’ developments either. it functioned just fine with arthur and tine, and leif had a REALLY good arc in the leonster castle chapter. i really liked how they handled fee too! even if she didn’t get any closure. i expected her to show how capable she was at some point and stick it to her dad, but nope.
the manga really likes to focus on seliph, leif, and ares. i get it, they’re the sons of their power trio of dads. i’m not at all surprised these are the three they chose to focus on, but man it doesn’t have a good pay-off imo. ares might be the best handled out of the three despite having his character tweaked a bit ( the fault of removing lene, i suppose ) and i actually liked his progression with the inner conflict of living in isolation.
leif took a nosedive for the worse when he somehow began revolving his life around seliph despite the fact his first appearance was all about how he should not be heralding him as a god amongst men. leif was that character had a weird duality between being the “shounen best friend” trope for seliph, telling him to never stop believing in himself and reminding him how great he is amongst giving cheeky hints about the romance plot, and being his own character filled with angst. leif brings some nice laughs a few times i’ll admit, and even if it’s pretty ooc for him, i was okay with it i guess; the issue i had was just how his status as seliph’s best friend seemed to also come along with removing all of his initial character development.
i’m not a fan of how leif’s last bit in the manga is admitting that he didn’t know what he’d do without seliph. leif’s got all this buildup of trying to take on travant because he wants revenge, and he’s shown himself to be capable before this. i think my issue with this is less about leif’s competency ( i really do think though leif’s whole thing of being a pretty horrible lord unit and then turning into this master of all trades in fe4 is super good ) and more about how we don’t really see seliph helping leif out much at all. leif is a pillar of emotional support for seliph, but it doesn’t ever get conveyed that it’s mutual even though the manga WANTS you to believe it is. when seliph goes to check out on leif, it’s always leif talking out his own feelings and coming to conclusions himself without any input on seliph’s end. when seliph does say something, it’s just to scold leif and remind him that they’re friends and that seliph can help him, but i... honestly didn’t want seliph to help leif defeat travant. it felt more like seliph was meddling more than anything, and i could easily see this being fixed with just some dialogue tweaks of seliph saying he wishes to support leif or doesn’t want to see him die. but it’s just “we’ll kill him together!”
seliph is just a standard protag who understands he needs to grow and he closes off his feelings. he is compassionate, charismatic, and he goes throughout the story changing people to ally themselves with him. this is most notable in how he convinces through sheer pacifism for iuchar and iucharba to join his side even though originally their role in the game was all about making a choice between one of the brothers.
speaking of the brothers, they also got shafted quite a bit. i mean, true to the game i suppose, but still. they both had pretty interesting characters when they first get introduced as sons who disapprove of their father but come out to fight because it’s what they’ve learned and been told to do. they don’t understand seliph but feel a sense of wavering conviction because they want to do the right thing. but... then it just goes to nothing, this beginning of a mini plot, because they meet larcei and since larcei barely gets a character in this manga, neither will these two. they fall head over heels for her and then lose their characters entirely. i don’t even know what the point of recruiting the BOTH of them was if they weren’t even going to do anything with them. like, sure, show that seliph is a good person. but they were going to show that seliph is great without this incident anyway.
the fact that julia gets reduced to just a healer hopelessly in love with seliph is sad. she has this crucial plot importance and it’s hinted at with the chapter involving ishtar and julius, but it really goes nowhere because the manga decides halfway through its main focus is going to be the romance between seliph and lana, so we’re going to end the manga in the middle of chapter 9 instead of actual endgame. julia’s just a slightly upgraded form of febail’s character in this lbr. she’s a love rival character meant to inspire angst within lana. woo.............. she gets brownie points i guess for helping along ares’s arc, but eh.
altena was fine. i think they stuck to everything important about her: her devotion to thracia, her dilemma with leif, etc. the arion and altena plot was okay. hell, even though i really like coirpre’s close relationship with altena in the game, i thought how he served as a voice of reason for her in this without the two knowing each other was actually done really well! just. wish coirpre got recruited. but that’s just me being salty, and i really don’t have an actual valid complaint about coirpre’s writing and minimal involvement in the manga. he served a purpose and he did it pretty damn well.
overall?? i thought this manga was a poor adaptation, and i really don’t recommend it as a way to understand fe4 gen 2′s plot at all nor its characters. but it serves its function as supplementary material, and i heard it’s like infinitely shorter than oosawa if you want a shorter read! it’s got its good points with certain characters like i’ve said before ( the tine and leif recruitment chapters are VERY GOOD and i loved fee in this too! ) and the fact it got a few laughs out of me is something i didn’t expect coming into it. i’m personally okay with the art, though i do wish characters didn’t appear crosseyed as often as they do.
#// SORRY i know ppl don't wanna read this prolly but i wanna talk abt it without annoying someone in their DMs#negative tw -------------#long post -----#✦ | ooc.#incest ment tw-----#// just cause the manga made a few cousin ships canon or had cousins crushing on cousins

Hi! So I read your post about The Last Jedi and I wanted to say something about Rose. (I'm a girl btw) I have a problem with her character, which is: I really liked her. She was tough, she had ideals, she was unafraid and committed. She was also just a really cool character. However, it seemed like her character didn't really give us anything - yes, she tased Finn and then she saved him, but what I mean is that there was not an arc that we could see her undergo. She just randomly says to Finn
(pt. 2) that she loves him, of which we saw no sign before. I disagree with the fact that if it was a male character - say, it was Finn who said it to her - people would think it’s ok. It would be still very random. they were great partners working together, but they were acting like friends the entire time. The confession of love is very random and OOC of Rose, who even at the end of the film admired her sister and her committment to the cause. It’s just a forced heterosexual relationship(pt 3)Sorry that it took me so long! But I wanted to show you my pov, because I wonder what you think of that. I feel that many people had a problem with Rose the same way as I did - she was amazing, Kelly is incredible, but her storyline didn’t exactly fit and suddenly changed 180 degrees at the end - she’s trying to teach Finn to save those he loves, which is literally what he was doing at the start of the film when they met. Hope you don’t mind my rant, and I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I appreciate your reaching out, and I am happy to share, because I do think your points seem to explain the reaction that I have seen. Particularly this one:
she’s trying to teach Finn to save those he loves, which is literally what he was doing at the start of the film when they met.
Respectfully though, this was not what Rose was trying to do. It is a part of what she said, but crucially only a very small part of the whole quote:
That’s how we’re going to win. Not fighting what we hate–saving what we love.
This is indeed a line that I suspect will end up being the beating heart of this trilogy, and even more indeedly, it’s a line that sums up Finn’s arc in this movie. You’re not wrong to pick up on it.
However: both are only true I think if we actually look at it for what it means, and for that, we actually start at Rose’s arc (which I disagree that she does not have one). Rose’s arc is a variation of one of the film’s big themes: learning what it means to be a hero. It’s not a big one, or a complicated one. She’s not a lead like Finn and she’s meant to be in some ways a beacon for Finn, so she has to already have a pretty good picture of it. But she doesn’t know how to rely on herself for that picture, much like Rey actually. You can sum up a lot of what she learns in this film just from what she says at the start of it. Rose admires heroes, but she doesn’t think she herself as just a lowly backroom mechanic has anything to contribute. She can’t talk to them, she can’t step in and help make plans. She meets Finn, who to her is the definition of Big Damn Hero because all she’s heard are the stories, and she swings wildly from speechless to running so fast at mouth that he doesn’t know what to say.
Then her worldview is shattered.
Finn didn’t just stumble onto her part of the ship. Finn is deserting, which, I would also have to disagree here, with your statement that Finn was already saving people he loved. Abandoning a ship full of people who need you, who are in terrible shape and only getting worse, is not the same thing as saving Rey. Rey as they spoke was on a mission for the Resistance. Rey last movie when Finn was faced with this decision made it clear even then that she thought helping people when they are in need is more important than your personal desires, and this was a girl who sacrificed everything other than this just to wait for her family in misery for years. Finn was not saving anyone. He was running away from a fight he decided did not have to involve him or anyone he cares about, even though he has already shown he can contribute to the cause. He was still, as Maz said last film, a man who wants to run. And worse, he was stripping Rey of her choice to stay or go even when presented with ample information to know what she would want.
None of this makes Finn evil, or bad, to be clear. But it is an established part of his character that Rose then helps him, through her arc, overcome. Finn runs, and Finn decides what is best for him and others based mostly on self-interest and fear. Both things are understandable given that he just left the Order and is running on survival instincts. However, just as Rose grows more comfortable with the idea that heroes are only people who make the right choices at the right time (as her sister implied and as Finn shows when he takes on the plan she figures out) so does Finn realize through Rose sharing her experiences that there’s more out there. His life is newly his own to do with as he pleases, but his actions still impact the lives of others–and there are so many more people in the world who are just as trapped as he was. Benicio Del Toro’s character later tells him, as the counterpoint, that to live free he can’t join, that it’s all just a machine and he can do nothing. But Finn knows that’s not true. He’s already done things that helped people. That made a huge impact. And he knows, from the stormtrooper life, that any person who tells him that it’s all just a machine that you don’t have to have any feeling for is wrong. The blood is still spilled; the crime is still yours. That’s why Finn ran in the first place, to not commit a crime.
By the time we get to the Rose line you describe, they both have come so incredibly far as characters. We’ve seen Rose go from a girl who could barely talk to a girl who confidently takes stock of supplies and reports to Poe what’s what, who goes into battle like her sister before her. We’ve seen Finn choose the Resistance proudly. However, picking a side, joining the fight–that doesn’t actually necessarily mean fighting the way it’s defined. It doesn’t mean aggression, destruction, murder, endless brutality. That’s a good way to make sure a war goes on forever, if you’re just constantly trying to get rid of things you don’t like. And that to me is the beautiful, salient truth of what Rose says. No one should be in a war because they’re there to fight what they hate. Finn joining the Resistance to make the First Order pay, no matter the cost to him or anyone he cares about, that’s just the flip side of what he first incorrectly thought. It’s just as self-focused, it’s just as harmful, and it has nothing to do with the lesson he needed to learn. Finn was never wrong to care about other people or even about his own life–but he needs to learn to fight for those things, because they are worth keeping alive and worth allowing to live freely.
(This is also why I would disagee that Rose said she was in love with Finn. Rose knows Finn only as well as Finn knows Rey, as Rey knows Finn, as anyone knows anyone in these movies honestly because guys look these movies take place consecutively in very short order–it’s just been one shitty space week in the galaxy really for everyone involved. But Rose does know she’s been through something with him, and that she’s seen him grow into the person she thought he could be. Arguably, she’s seen him grow into better than that person because he is real. There’s a lovely look she gives him, when he’s giving his speech to the rebels, that says it all–and she loves that. She loves who he’s becoming, she loves how kind he is and how strong and how capable of change. Allowing that to die now, when he probably would not really do anything against the FO in his sacrifice, would be a waste. Finn is worth saving–and hell, if she might die, she might as well admit she thinks he’s kind of cute too. It’s only a forced romance if there’s actually a romance. This was more like sending your crush a note: DO YOU LIKE ME CHECK YES OR NO ALSO I MIGHT BE DYING SO MAYBE CHECK FAST.)

BIOGRAPHY
“Guys! Hey, guys!”
Sun is being dragged by her friend to a crowd of fellow schoolmates. There is something in the way her friend holds her wrist tight that evokes a bad feeling. Sun is not comfortable with what’s to follow, but a part of her wonders if their schoolmates will be as excited as her friend when they learn. It’s what she focuses on, brushing off the fact her friend promised not to tell a soul.
“Sun says she’s a mutant!”
The euphoric state of the group quiets down to that of dead silence if only for a minute. There are whispers and suddenly Sun doesn’t wish to know; she wishes for this to end, whatever this is.
“Really? Do something,” comes a voice from the back. “Yeah! Do something, Sun!” There’s another, this time from the front. “Show us what you can do!” – “Do something, Lee!” – “Do something!”
“I shouldn’t,” her voice is drawn in her schoolmates’ shouts.
“Come on! Are you afraid?” A laugh as cruel as any reaches her and she freezes. “Or are you lying?”
“She’s lying, she can’t do anything special,” a girl rolls her eyes and proceeds to laugh mockingly at her.
“Liar!” – “Liar, liar, pants on fire.” – “Such a loser.”
The words echo in her mind. Something inside her grows. She’s far too young to know how hurt she is. Instead she registers an emotion more familiar and in turn easier for her to convey – anger. She wants to scream. She wants to tell them off but before she can do so, something horrible happens. Her friends begin to fight – they often did, but not like this. Never like this.
“Guys, stop–” she freezes once more this time at the sight of blood streaming down someone’s arm. “Guys– please–”
“Sun. Lee Sun! What is happening? Children, stop this!” Mrs. Kang, Sun’s homeroom teacher, appears out of nowhere along with a bunch of other staff members. They start pulling children apart, but it’s too late – damage beyond repair has been done.
Sun steps back, trembling with fear – she did this, she knows she did. What’s more terrifying is Mrs. Kang seems to know, too. Mrs. Kang leaves it to the other staff to deal with the just as shaken up children while she hurriedly steps toward Sun. She grabs her by the shoulders – Sun wants to protest because of the pain; pain which managed to pull her out of her trance. She readies herself to be yelled at, but what comes her way is much more severe. It’s the fear in Mrs. Kang’s eyes which still lives with her to this day.
“What have you done? Don’t. Don’t ever do it again, do you hear me? Don’t you ever do it.” With every word the hold of Sun’s shoulders becomes stronger, insufferable. Sun’s body twists, trying to get away from the pain. “Don’t make me–” Mrs. Kang stops herself from finishing the sentence, but her sentiment doesn’t miss Sun. Sun understands the fear in Mrs. Kang’s eyes; the human fears the horrific acts the mutant is capable of, but what terrifies her most is what she – or any other human for that matter – is capable of to prevent the former.
Sun’s body surrenders, much like her spirit, and she only nods in response. It takes Mrs. Kang a second to ease her grip then turns her focus on the other children, all of whom Sun just now notices are pointing their fingers at her. She feels something warm down her cheek, tears. She tries to explain she hadn’t meant them harm but her eyes meet those of the other teachers – they bare a striking resemblance to Mrs. Kang’s. There’s something else mixed in there, too – later Sun will realize it’s disgust. She feels their hostility, she knows she is no longer welcomed (was she ever?).
She runs. No one stops her, of course. She runs until her little feet can’t carry her anymore, right thought her home’s front door then she collapses. She explains to her mother what happened only to hear her infamous ‘I told you so’. Strangely enough she finds comfort in it.
Sun doesn’t go to elementary school the next day. Her mother moves them to another district and Sun never mentions her nature ever again – in fact, she turns her back on it. She’s an ordinary human as far as everyone else is concerned and that’s how it’ll remain so long as she can help it.
ABILITIES
(via Superpower Wiki)
The user has complete control over the pheromones, a chemical factor that triggers a social response in members of the same species, of oneself and others, including releasing pheromones that induce attraction between subjects (or within a subject for oneself), to exuding pheromones strong enough to induce sleep, change/influence emotions, draw crowds, etc.
Pheromones may induce a pleasure, or may put subjects into a state of high suggestibility (either of which is useful for limited mind control). Other uses of these pheromones can be used to mark territory (causing people to feel the compulsion to not go into a certain area), or to leave a pheromone path which others can follow. The user’s pheromones may even increase stamina, slightly stimulate the healing process or (used offensively) cause foes to become disoriented, violent or extremely sick.
Strong will-powered victim may be a problem.

I’m not the bad guy | Part I
When Troy finds you in the desert and takes you to the farm, you don’t know what to make of the intense man with the piercing eyes, and you understand even less why you’re so drawn to him. Is he as messed up as he seems to be, or is there something more beneath the surface?
Fandom: Fear The Walking Dead
Words: ~1500
Pairing: Troy Otto x reader
Warnings: Nothing, as of now
Note: This Troy will be a little OOC, just because I’ll give him a bit more redeeming qualities and a little less racist, psychopath-y qualities. He’ll still work in a morally gray area, but I just don’t really wanna excuse some of the messed up shit he does on the show just because he’s pretty, y’know?
Masterlist
The midday sun was burning on your back as you were gulping down your warm lunch. You were sitting at an empty lunch table, not wanting to meet or talk to anyone, too intent on finally having a warm meal. Your eyes searched your surroundings while you chewed hastily. This farm you had been taken to was immense, and there were a lot of people around - men, women, and even children - which you found reassuring.
“Hungry?” a voice from behind startled you out of your thoughts, and you jumped in your seat, your hand instinctively shooting to your side where your machete used to rest. As quickly as you moved, as quickly did you remember where you were, and you relaxed in your seat and turned your head. The guy standing behind you was on the smaller side, with short, dark brown hair and kind eyes. He was smiling sympathetically and held his hands up in the air, as if in surrender. “I come in peace,” he said. He sat down opposite of you when you motioned to the free seat. “I’m Jake,” he introduced himself as you went back to your meal. “Troy’s brother,” he added. You stopped chewing and looked up at him in surprise, one eyebrow raised. This friendly, open man in front of you seemed too different to be the brother of the man who had brought you to this farm. Jake was not oblivious to your reaction. “Yeah,” he said, “I get that a lot.”
You dragged your feet over the ground, raising dust and sand in your path. Your mouth was parched, and the sun was barreling down on you. You didn’t know how long you hadn’t eaten, but the hunger you could deal with. But not the thirst. The thirst was universal, and every fiber of your being only seemed capable of concentrating on your dry throat, and the headache that it caused you. You had run out of water yesterday morning, after having rationed it carefully for days. The desert was death, and you couldn’t understand how you ever believed you’d be able to make it across. You started stumbling a few hours ago, tripping over your own feet, your mind going blank more often than not. An hour ago you even fell, sprawling out on the hot sand, but you managed to get up and continue. ‘Just one more step,’ you continued to tell yourself, using the fence on your left as an orientation point. When you first spotted the border control station in the distance, you thought you were hallucinating. But it stayed right there, at the end of the fence, no matter how close you got. When you were near enough to make out details you started running, or as close to running as you could get. You didn’t notice one of the doors opening and men dressed in camouflage coming out of the building, you were too focused on your feet and on not falling. Still, it wasn’t enough. You overlooked a stone and fell on your face, tasting the copper of the sand in your mouth. This time, you didn’t manage to get up. Every muscle in your body had given up, screaming for water. You didn’t know if you had been lying there for a minute or an hour, but eventually you felt hands on your arm, someone was turning you over.
“Well, well, won’t you look at that,” a dark voice said.
“She’s a looker,” another voice said.
“She’s a goner,” a third voice added. “Put her in with the others, let’s see how long it’ll take her to turn.”
“I’ll give her 30 minutes, tops.”
You felt more hands on you, trying to move you, picking you up. You opened your eyes and saw two men holding you up on either side, dragging you along in between them, your arms over their shoulders.
“Water,” you tried to say, but your voice was barely more than a rasp. “Water,” you tried again, louder.
“Sorry sweetie, it’d be wasted on you,” one of them said, and you could hear the indifference in his voice. The more they moved you, the more alert you became again. These people weren’t helping you, and you didn’t walk all this way just to die when you finally reached the border.
“I’m fine,” you said louder, but sill with barely any voice. “I’ll be fine.” The men laughed.
“Stop!” you said more commanding as they carried you inside the building.
“What’s this?” a new voice said and you could immediately tell that whoever was speaking was in charge.
“We found her outside, putting her downstairs, she’s gone.”
“Stop!” you said again, your eyes trying to get adjusted to the low light after having spent weeks under burning desert sun. There were more hands on you now, going through your pockets and taking your belongings.
“No, stop,” you kept repeating, trying to struggle against their hold. “Don’t touch my machete!” you uttered threateningly when they were taking your weapon, though you still sounded weak. You fought against their grip and somehow managed to get your right arm loose. You mustered all the strength you had left, and pushed your elbow up in the face on the man holding you. Your elbow made contact and instantly, the man took a step backward in surprise, but the effort made you tumble and fall as well.
“Argh, bitch!” the man exclaimed, holding his nose and turning around to kick you, but someone stepped in and held his arm. “Stop!” he instructed, and you noticed the authoritative voice from before. “You’re not taking her anywhere,” he added and knelt over you, inspecting your face. He was tall, with dark brown hair that was long enough to fall lightly over his forehead. And his eyes..his eyes were piercing blue, and they were intense, as if he could look straight through you.
“This one still has some fight left in her.”
“I bet,” you told Jake. “What’s his deal? Is he always so...intense?”
Jake shrugged. “Well, what can I say? Growing up…hasn’t been easy.”
“I bet,” you repeated yourself, finishing your meal.
“Shouldn’t you be in the infirmary?” Jake asked.
“I’m fine.”
“You’re dehydrated.”
“I’m fine,” you said again. “I had water and light food on the way here.”
Jake nodded. “Well, just making sure you feel welcome. If you need anything, let me know,” he said and got up, walking away from the table. He had walked a few steps when you turned in your seat to face his retreating figure. “So, your Dad’s the boss here?”
Jake stopped and turned back to you. “Basically,” he shrugged. You nodded and turned your head back to the empty table in front of you, lost in thought as he walked away.
The ground was shaking as you woke up. Your whole body was moving and there was a noise so loud you couldn’t hear your own thoughts. Your head was pounding. You opened your eyes and they slowly adjusted to the bright sunlight. As soon as your surroundings came into focus, the rest of your senses started adjusting. You were lying on the back of a pickup, your body shaking with the movement of the van. The deafening noise came from the motor, and those of other cars that seemed to be around; the noise level adjusted as soon as you could make out its source, your ears adapting to the environment. You leaned on your elbow to see where you were, and another wave of pain hit your head at the sudden movement.
You weren’t alone. The man with the intense eyes was sitting across from you, his eyes not leaving you as you moved.
“Rise and shine,” he said in a tone that sounded almost cocky. For a moment, the two of you simply stared at each other, seizing the other up. Then, he threw a water bottle over to where you were lying. “Go easy on it or you’ll throw it up again, and I don’t want to have to clean that up,” he said, motioning at the bottle. You carefully sat up, leaning against the back of the driver’s cabin, and picked up the bottle. You drank carefully at first, suspicious of the situation, but as soon as you tasted the water you couldn’t stop yourself. You raised the bottle high and gulped, eagerly, hurriedly, as if someone might take it away from you again. The water was running down your face and neck, and the water that ended up in your mouth felt amazing against your parched throat, softening and drenching it like paper. To your surprise, the man started laughing when you put the bottle down.
“Why?” you asked, tentatively.
“Because you just did exactly what I told you not to do and you’re going to regret it in a minute.”
“No,” you said. “Why did you take me?”
“Oh that,” he answered, still in a light tone, and shrugged, “seemed like a waste to let you die.”
For a second, you just looked at him. “Bullshit,” you said eventually.
He laughed again. “You’re feisty, I like that.”
“Where are you taking me,..?” you paused, wanting to use his name.
“Troy,” he said. “The name’s Troy.”

eyyy so ya boi made it to 200!! i think these are still cool? who knows, i’m not hip with the kids. but i made this blog just a few months ago and hit 100 in a few weeks, and now i’m here. honestly coming back to rp after?? god knows how long?? was one of the few good decisions i’ve made. i mean, granted, i made plenty of bad ones afterwards ( skipping class to talk about headcanons, writing 2500+ words in a little under an hour, like 90% of the stuff that makes me cool ) but it was well worth it. i came into the sherlock rp community cautiously, honestly expecting to leave within two weeks, but i’ve made some really good friends who are incredibly important to me. i love them a lot you guys.
RAIN MARS INSERT SHITTY JOKE HERE,
so. i’ve talked about kacie a thousand times, i know i don’t have to. you guys know how much i love her. but i say it because it’s important. kacie and i built a friendship off of loving each other and rolling our eyes at everyone else; at the end of the day, she’s who i have. she’s my best friend, my soulmate, my partner in far too many bad decisions but all of my good ones, the only person who call my on my bullshit and encourages me to be my saltiest self in the same breath. for three years, i’ve gotten nothing but love and support from her. so please excuse my outward affection, all the appreciation posts, all the replies on her munday photos and every ooc post, how i yell about rain to people who don’t even know who kacie is, i’m just trying to make up for three years of her doing the same for me. nobody else can make me laugh like she does, the kind that leaves me gasping for air and smiling so hard my entire face hurts, and nobody else can make me go from angry and annoyed and frustrated to flopping over onto my bed and pressing my face into a pillow because her anger at whatever is bothering me, no matter how small or how little she knows about it, makes my chest hurt from all the love. so just, like, let me have this. even though she’s gonna read this and call me gay, and i’ll tell her i’m just gay for her, and she’ll send me a heart and i’ll send her one and know i made her smile, and that will be enough // @fxrechild
MY ENGLAND MOM, MARTHA,
i guess i should probably start at the beginning. sophie was my first friend in the fandom. my rp blogs don’t last long without partners to write with. i get bored easily. so to everyone who likes my blog, everyone i met after sophie, you have her to thank for my being here. sophie let me rant to her about headcanons i had barely developed, back when i had even less of a grasp on sherlock than i do now. she was my rp partner, and then somewhere along the way she became a lot more than that. she’s a teacher. if there’s one thing i’ve learned in all my years, all sixteen of them ( guys help i’m so old ), it’s that teachers are very much born. it’s not an occupation, it’s a type of person. sophie just happens to be employed as a teacher as well as being one. i know i’m not making sense so let me explain: few people are capable of the warmth that sophie displays, and even fewer are capable of directing it towards someone so far away, and then, once you have that, you have to actually be able to teach something. for sophie, it’s how to care. sophie is, without a doubt, the first person i think of when someone says compassion or kindness or love. she’s there for me when i’m anxious, sad, upset, but she’s there for the good times too, for all the smiles and the laughter, and she never misses a beat. i said once that she was family and that still stands. some people are just too important to simply say ‘friend’ // @adler-thewoman
MY ANGST QUEEN SUPREME,
i’m half-tempted to leave it at that, actually. i swear, allison has made cry as many times as she’s made me smile. allison is incredibly involved in her character. she understands abigail in a way that shocks me every day, but it makes her wonderful to talk to. her dedication to her character is, in short, absolutely beautiful to see. allison is absolutely beautiful to see in general. she’s chill as hell, which is great for days when i’m too tired to do much else but talk about sherlock and abigail being cute together. she doesn’t get nearly enough sleep but that’s okay; it means she’s always awake when i need her. allison is, in every respect, one of the best listeners i have ever had the pleasure of being friends with. whether it’s long-winded headcanons about our muses or just my irl problems, she’s here, ready to talk. and when i need time alone, she understands. i can’t explain how important that is. being able to listen, to understand, these are skills i’ve struggled with my whole life and allison makes it look easy. when i’ve had a long day and i want quiet, chill time, she’s who i go to. my gratitude for her patience and time can’t be expressed in words // @suumuxor
MY ACTUAL IRL ANGEL,
i don’t actually write with jack all that much. jack isn’t someone i have to write with to maintain our friendship. there’s genuine affection here. when i come home, when i’m sad, when i wake up, he’s the person i go to. i couldn’t tell you why to save my life. i’ve tried a thousand times, written jack novels about why he means so much to me, but it’s the kind of thing i can’t put into words. but i’ll try one more time. half the time he’s making a joke, the other half he’s being one of the most affectionate people i’ve ever met. i can’t think of what i could have done to earn his singular love, so i assume he’s like that with everyone. as funny as he is, as much as he makes me laugh and roll my eyes in equal measure, it’s that ridiculously thoughtful, caring part that fascinates me. i still haven’t quite figured jack out, but i’m gonna. i guess until then, that’s my excuse to keep talking to him // @psychopatx
MY PERSONAL RAY OF SUNSHINE,
every day i call her my sunshine and every day she tells me i’m wrong. i wonder when she’s gonna figure out that i’ve never been so right about anything. zoe is an amazing person. incredibly strong and determined, intelligent as hell and passionate about what she does. she loves mary like i love her, and that’s saying a lot. even without knowing i’m in a bad mood or in a bad place, she cheers me up, and has never failed to do so. being around her is like being outside in the perfect weather in your favorite place. it’s impossible to not feel better when you talk to her. she’s such a beautiful person, insanely caring and always ready to help her friends. she cares so deeply for the people she chooses to surround herself with, and never fails to make me feel loved, which is hard to do. if i can be half of what she is to me, i’ll consider myself a success // @traiinedassassiin
&& MY PARTNER IN MY SLOW DESCENT TO HELL.
sometimes michelle is indistinguishable from john watson. i haven’t told her this yet, but sometimes she says things or does things and i sit back and wonder if that’s why she’s so good at writing him. here’s the thing about john watson: sherlock pulls a lot of bullshit. he does a lot of stupid things, he’s a ridiculous man with mood swings like hell, but john puts up with it. not only does he put up with it, he loves sherlock. and that’s a lot like michelle. i do a lot of ridiculous things. i get anxious for no reason, sad over small things, i have mood swings like hell, but michelle is right there. always calm, always telling me to talk to her about it instead of letting it get all bottled up. michelle is balancing on that thin line between caring and commanding, which can really throw me off sometimes when she tells me to talk to her and yes, i want to, but she’s also very hard to say no to in general. so maybe that’s why i keep writing sin and further cementing my place in hell. it’s here i have to point out that while writing this, michelle saw fit to send me absolute filth from a johnlock fic, so she’s going down with me. but back to my point. michelle is the most patient person i have met. she deals with me at my worst and somehow comes out of it still sane and wanting me around, and i don’t quite think i can express how important that is to me // @julietthotelwhiskey
and a note from the author. i have argued and will continue to argue that roleplaying is about one thing: people. it’s people who like writing, yes, but it’s people. we’ve all fallen into this odd little hobby together, so we may as well make friends. my bias list is short because it’s honest; the people above are people i genuinely care about, and i will continue caring about them as long as they allow me to, or as long as i am meant to, whichever comes last. i have five ( yeah, fuck kacie ) IM conversations open right now. little icons on the side of my dash and i can’t tell you how big my smile is when one of my friends messages me. so let yourself make ridiculously close friends through this dumb little hobby, because knowing that someone cares about you for you is one of the most rewarding things in life, far better than having good graphics or formatting or hell, even being the best writer.
that’s all, folks. <3
#―♚ ❝ why do you write like you're running out of time? ‣‣‣ OOC.#fxrechild#adlerthewoman#suumuxor#psychopatx#traiinedassassiin#julietthotelwhiskey#y'all i cried six times writing this#i just really love my friends okay

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Royan Age: 21 Pronouns: She/Her Timezone: CST Activity Level: 6-7
IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
Skeleton Name: The Informant Character’s Full Name: Axel Thierry Ladrian
Axel - It means “My Father Is Peace” and I got a kick out of it because farthest thing from the truth. His father wasn’t peace, his father was stress and despair and a death passed over by everyone that wasn’t his immediate family. Thierry - So, in honesty, I just love the name Thierry but I also googled what it meant and it means “Ruler Of The People” and it’s just so not the Informant that it had me cackling. He is the furthest thing from the Ruler of the People. Maybe he could be more prominent in the trash people but def not anyone else lol.
Faceclaim: Michael B Jordan Gender and Pronouns: He/Him Sexuality: Bi til they Die and probably after that too tbh Age and DOB: 24: Born in 527, on a particularly cold night on the 13th of Spokial Education Level: While he would have liked to just drop out of school entirely so he could help his father work, he was forced to go to Primary and Secondary school. When he wasn’t at school, he was out getting into trouble or trying to steal to suport his family. He knew he wasn’t going to pursue higher education further after Secondary school - the streets teach him more than a classroom ever could.
Biography:
The phrase “Nobody gets justice. People only get good luck or bad luck” has been a bitter thought in Axel’s head for his entire life for there’s never been any justice for him or his family. When he was young, Axel didn’t quite understand why his family was struggling to make ends meet when the others with the Ladrian name lived a life of luxuary. After all, isn’t the last name Ladrian synonymous with industrial success? It wasn’t until he was older than while having certain names in this city granted power, having the last name Ladrian was as useful as metalfire without the needle.
He grew up with the memory of his father, Elard, being gone when he woke and barely coming home in time to read to him in bed. He treasured those few, rare moments with his father though, waiting patiently for him to sit by his bed with a book in his hand, no matter how many times his mother had told him to sleep. And, his father never disappointed in coming in to read to him. It didn’t matter how late it was or how early Elard had to get up, he coaxed his son into sleep with tales of old. The older Axel got, the bitterer he became but his father refused to let Axel even so much as look to the factories for a job, insisting that he should focus on his studies and try and aim to be something better.
When there was an accident at the factory, and he caught wind of his father’s death, Axel and his family was not only devastated but also scared. They didn’t know what to do and despite trying to get compensation for their father’s death, they were only laughed at by the richer Ladrians. Needless to say, it infuriated Axel and that paired with the memories of his father working hismelf to the bone made him swear to never work in a factory. He couldn’t afford to leave his family behind so he had to find another way to make money. One night out, after drinking himself silly, he ended up getting into a fight with someone on behalf on a woman. In truth, he had just needed someone to take his rage out but the woman had seen it as a show of bravery and gall so she got him in contact with the Burning Word as a reward.
Once it was explained to him how much he could make off the drug trade, it was an easy choice. Using his luck-infused chromimum metalmind, he was a natural at selling the metalfire, selling the drugs without a care to the morality of it. He never touched his own product, seeing using as a waste when he could be making money off of it. Life got easier and some of the lines on his mother’s face lessened. He was able to provide for his family in a way his father never could have even if Elard might have looked down upon the trade. Better dealing than dead though, right?
As his proficiency on dealing grew, so did his ability as a Spinner - which made his bust even bitterer. He should have known not to go out that day while actively storing but he had been given a huge opportunity to make more than a few Doxins. So, he risked his entire operation and when the constable turned it on him, he tried to fight and run. Naturally, it didn’t work out for him but they could add non-compliance to his rap sheet. He sat in that jail cell for 24 hours, seething in silence as everything burned down around him. He couldn’t call anyone for help, knowing full well that he’d be left to rot. His employers might have given him a chance but he had squandered it and was going to be left with the ruins.
When he sat across the Paragon, eyes burning with distaste, he had been surprised by her offer to let him loose if he worked for her. Most denied the deal, too afraid to even cross the Burning Word but Axel had always toed the gap of danger and he’d easily breach the gap if it meant his family’s survival. He had accepted her deal and was released almost instantly, his arrest being erased from any files. He walked home that day, chin up, jaw tense, fists clenched and feeling more like a caged animal than ever. And like a rabid, newly released animal, he made sure to pick a fight with someone bigger, taking his frustration out with every punch he threw.
Living a double life now with not a word to anyone, Axel is more dedicated to storing luck and fortune than ever. He takes his metalmind with him everywhere, considering it the only thing keeping him from ending up dead in the water.
Personality:
A product of the crime and streets of Octant 4, Axel is a fighter through and through. In his work, he’s gathered a gang of loyal friends who assist him in the selling of his wares, always diligent in turning the profits back in to the Corrupter. Despite his antagonistic nature, he’s sure to never step on the feet of anyone who could truly harm his whole operation. Strong and almost feral, he lives a life of debauchery and danger but he makes sure to never take it home with him, trying to give his family a false sense of security. He’s nothing if not resourceful, finding a way to use the city, people and luck to his goals. His flaws lie in the bitterness that grows in his heart, leaving him cold and resentful to all those with a better life. Axel holds no resemblances to the affluent Ladrians, almost preying on his unsuspecting cousins when they come wandering the streets. He might follow the Pathism religion but he only believes in luck and fortune, worshipping it as much as he can. If there’s ever a situation now that jeopardizes his spinning, he’ll make sure to escape the situation quickly before it lands him in even more trouble.

Character Name: Jacques DeVries
Age: 28
Character Type: Medium
True Name: “Deceit”
FC: Gaspard Ulliel
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Date & Place of Birth: March 28th, 1988 / Antibes, France
Occupation: Thief / Occasional musician at Pisces
Background:
Saying that he was born in France can make it sound quite sophisticated by default but the truth is that there was nothing fancy, agreeable or that encapsulated the joie de vivre in the wrong side of the city where Jacques spent his childhood. His father was frequent client of Lex Roux Club, a guy who couldn’t keep it in his pants when visiting the table dance and ended up getting too tangled up with the star performer, Greta DeVries. A baby boy was born as a result of their sexual encounters and Jean-Luc Marchand showed little to no interest for looking after the baby, leaving Greta mostly on her own to raise him and provide for him. She could barely afford an education for him and juggling two jobs to maintain her little boy meant she was barely around, leaving the kid to be looked after babysitters who didn’t really care much for the boy’s upbringing. There were the times when his father dropped by sporadically, making his mom immensely happy and Jacques infinitely miserable. Jean-Luc was a violent brute who thought the best way to turn his son into a man was through firsts and belt buckles. He never got a lot of affection and attention during his childhood. Certainly the kind of attention he got from his father wasn’t the kind he wanted, and in fact he feared him. He trembled every time his father stepped into their crappy apartment for one of his surprise visits, and Jacques would either run to hide his room’s closet or run out of the house.
As he grew up rules were an abstract concept for him, though, because no one truly educated him to follow them. The way he saw them, they were something to bend to his liking if needed be. Such a behavior was emphasized further when the teen became part of a gang of little rascals and petty thieves often called “The White Devils” by the locals, a moniker they earned for their mischievousness and because they were usually nearby a tavern by the name Le Diable Blanc. Even if he was just a fifteen-year-old at the time and was certainly not allowed to be in such a place as a tavern, Jacques and the owner of the place, Maximilien Canet, formed an interesting bond after a while. There was something in Jacques that reminded Max of his young self and so the boy gradually became an apprentice of his. He started to spend a lot of time at Max’s tavern in spite of his parent’s disagreement and protests, which only gave him further incentives not to show up at home because at last he could avoid his father. Le Diable Blanc became his new home, a place where he rubbed shoulders with the toughest and most cunning of Antibes, a place where learned to make himself at home in the harshest of environments side by side with ex-cons. He dealt with alcohol-infested clientele on a daily basis like it was nothing and when it came down to bare-knuckle fighting Jacques learned not to back down even if he lost his first brawls. He was hardened by that place and the young man loved every second of it, feeling empowered. He gained new talents, new skills to deal with people by charm or by harm. It was pure bliss to spend time in that place drinking, playing card games, pickpocketing the unsuspecting customers and even entertaining some of them by playing some good tunes on the piano. Maximilien Canet was the king of that duplicitous underground world and he had turned Jacques into his heir apparent.
A couple of years went by and Jacques dropped out of high school, investing his time in what truly mattered to him: Le Diable Blanc. Unfortunately for him and his mentor, the tavern was closed down by authorities by the time he was twenty, all because of the illegal dealings that often went down in the tavern. Then an opportunity arose for Maximilien to move to America and he chose not to leave his protégé behind and Jacques followed him to New York with no hesitation whatsoever, even if it meant further estranging his already distant relationship with his mother and abusive father. The pair of tricksters didn’t stay long in that city and hitchhiked their way across several states, pulling off their thievery mischiefs here and there. Three years ago Jacques’ world was turned upside down when Max and he pulled off a big heist in San Francisco In just a month they got everything they stole into the black market and had nothing to trace them back to the heist. Or so they thought. The police’s ongoing investigation was catching up to them and by being in the wrong place at the wrong time Jacques learned that Max was going to rat him out. It was a hurtful blow to know his mentor, his father, was willing to let him carry the blame on his own. Without a second thought Jacques pulled that move against Maximilien instead and threw him under the bus, throwing all the blame on him. It resulted in Maximilien getting 3 years in prison and deportation back to France upon the sentence’s end. Jacques has been on his own since then, still playing the dangerous game of thievery and risking his freedom just for the thrill and the gain. Now that Max is out of prison, Jacques is certain his old mentor will try to make him pay for the betrayal which is why the young thief moved to Port Ashborne to lay low. Luckily for him, he’s always been quite skilled at misdirecting people to avoid being caught.
Additional Information:
His full name is Jacques Gael DeVries.
He speaks English very well after living in the US for eight years, however there is a faint hint of his French accent.
He is technically unemployed, since his shenanigans robbing hardly count as a job. But he oftentimes plays the piano at Pisces and gets a decent enough amount of money out of it.
Jacques sends money to his mother every now and then. He sometimes attaches a small note for her in case she’d like to know how and where to contact him but she never does.
He had a criminal record back in France, however only for minor charges. He has never been arrested in the US.
FAMILY:
Jean-Luc Marchad (father/estranged)
Greta DeVries (mother/estranged)
Maximilien Canet (mentor/enemy)
CONNECTIONS:

Personality:
Jacques is the result of lacking limits as a kid, understanding little about restraints and rules. If anything facing a restriction or law only ignites in him the will to break and to bend them. It’s all a challenge for him, and he rarely backs down from one. He relied greatly on Maximilien for years, the man he revered as his mentor and even as his father, but even since learning of his intentions to betray him, Jacques no longer put his trust on others. He’s a one man force of nature to be reckoned and he lives by the motto of “every man for himself” now. His moral compass is not pointed towards north and his choices are never permeated by ethics, he simply acts according to what will benefit him. Jacques is an individualist to the core and his past has given him a bit of a dissociative personality as a coping mechanism. He comes off as smug and so sure of himself, which to an extent are true traits of himself, but they also serve as the first layer of the shields he has put around himself. Being selfish and detached are ways in which he feels he can’t be hurt and in which he keeps others at a safe distance.
Skills:
Thanks to Maximilien he learned all the skills that he could need to survive as a thief and know how to avoid getting caught. He’s quite skilled from basic things ranging from pickpocketing and forging people’s handwriting, to break-ins, safe-cracking or disabling security systems.
He is a decent enough fighter when it comes to hand to hand combat. More than having impeccable technique, Jacques has the sheer ferocity and brawn to hold his own in a fight.
Jacques knows how to play the piano. He learned to play by ear and by seeing some locals play at Le Diable Blanc. He kept developing his playing skills with practice and playing the piano is a hobby of his. He doesn’t know how to read sheets of music.
He possesses medium skills, however he is not prone to perceiving ghosts all too well, he can only distantly hear them. His skill developped in the way of illusion manipulation, or at least in a subtle form of it. Jacques is capable of tricking people into seeing, smelling or hearing things that aren’t really there. The illusory changes he is able to create are small and subtle, but they have always been enough for him to avoid getting caught.
Sample Paragraph: TW: rape and violence
“Marcos, please” she pleaded, eyes clouded with tears as she squirmed beneath the weight of his body. “I won’t go to the police, I won’t say anything. I promise. I promise I’ll stay quie-”. Her words were cut off as his palm collided against her cheekbone. It stung, a pulsating warmth under her skin in the place where he slapped her.
The tears fell down her cheeks and she met Marcos’ eyes again, silently pleading him to stop this. It was impossible for her to find the familiar softness she used to see her boyfriend’s dark eyes. It was gone now. They were pits of coal, burning with a type of cruelty that brought the deepest, rawest kind of fear in her.
“Please, Marcos” Lourdes pleaded once more, her voice quivering with sobs she couldn’t contain any longer. “Please don’t do this”. The young man was deaf to her cries and he hit her once more, harder than the previous one.
Panic found her once more when Marcos unzipped his pants, when his hand forcefully restrained her by the wrists. Lourdes did whate she could to fight him off, to try to get him to move from crushing her body against the floor. She cried out again, painfully aware that he would get to have his way with her yet again. No matter how hard she fought him, she couldn’t stop Marcos from hitting her, from ripping her underwear off her body. She was powerless to stop him from violently getting his pleasure out of her pain and suffering.

Lou woke up with a start, a scream dying in her throat when her eyes opened. There were tears already in her eyes and they just continued to fall as she curled herself up, her arms wrapping around her knees. Her body shook, quietly sobbing. She wanted to cry out, to yell, but she did not to make any sound that could wake up her uncle.
The emotions brought by what she’d dreamed about ran free. Her only comfort was that it had been just a dream. A nightmare… This was unlike the other times she’d relieved her experience with Marcos, this wasn’t the first time her mind took her back to that event. However, it was the first time she went through it so vividly.
That experience was seared into her brain. It only made sense that her worst nightmares were crafted with the sharp edges of those memories.
