People's disdain and impatience for old people and disabled people is just projection about the frailty of our human bodies.

Going into the post office the other day there was what seemed like an older woman with a walker and a bit younger, possibly daughter with her coming out. I opened the door to hold it for them and the younger of the two said she would take the door from me. The older woman with th walker said "I'm just really slow."

I said "no worries! We'll all be there eventually" and she started laughing.

I dropped off my packages and on the way out they were getting into their car and the lady was still cracking up about my very obvious to me statement. I think I made her day.

Then I went home and did some stretches before band practice because I've been having sciatica pain. Age and disability come for us all, don't be a dick.

#and they were properly parked in the handicap parking space that is often filled by assholes who think they are just going to be a minute #i grew up with a sibling in chronic pain so i always think about it #my ex had a father in a wheelchair and framing my mind about accessibility is one of rhe only good things that came out of it
