I love it in fics when there is no Shen Yuan, but Airplane is there anyway. Most of the time he's not even playing an important role, he's just hanging out as a background character like-

Liu Qingge: Wait, Shen Qingqiu was a slave?!?!

Qi Qingqi: And he's not a pervert?!?!

Wei Qingwei: I can't believe we all made these assumptions

Shang Qinghua: Wow, how crazy, he's not what he seems, who could've guessed, anyway can we get back to the budget, this is what the meeting was supposed to be about

And honestly, I think there should be more scumplane interactions

Shen Qingqiu: If you known the rumors were fake, then why do you avoid me?

Shang Qinghua: Because you're terrifying????

Shen Qingqiu: Finally, someone who respects me in the way I've always wanted

Also Shen Yuan is super anti bullying and wants to get Shen Jiu kicked only for things he actually did, like going to brothels. This gives Shen Jiu a ton of mixed signals because he can't comprehend someone who defends him against bullies and then turns around and tattles on him to the peak lord

And Shang Qinghua is running cross peak anti defamation campaigns for Shen Jiu like "oh yeah, he seems mean but he has a real soft spot for women, children, and the elderly, trust me" and he doesn't tell Shen Jiu he's doing this so when he hears the gossip on Qing Jing he is so confused

Shen Yuan tries to follow Shen Jiu to the brothel only to find Shang Qinghua outside and they get in a massive fight outside only for Shen Jiu to come out and be like “hell nah! You are cultivators, you are not doing this in public. Also what the hell are either of you doing here?”

Shen Yuan’s like “Wait what do you mean “either” of us. Shang Qinghua came with you right?”And Shang Qinghua just bolts

Shen Jiu interrogates Shang Qinghua later and he explains that he was there to make sure Liu Qingge didn’t show up again. Shen Jiu asks why he never confronted him about going to brothels or even brought it up and Shang Qinghua says “I know you must have your reasons and it never seemed like you wanted to talk about it,”

Shen Jiu is starting to realize that he has no idea how people actually work anymore.

Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua get sent on a mission together and end up in a fist fight. It’s not even over Shen Jiu either they just hate eachother personally at this point. It’s then when they both slip into slang and realize they are both transmigrators with sinking dread

They don’t speak for the rest of the mission or the way back.

Au where Shen Yuan transmigrates as a random Qing Jing peak disciple in the Qing generation and tries to prevent the plot by stopping Shen Jiu from becoming the next Qing Jing peak lord, except Shang Qinghua is trying to prevent the plot by becoming Shen Jiu’s best friend and helping him heal at the same time.

Shen Yuan sees two villains hanging out and goes “oh no! This is terrible! I need to work even harder to make sure they don’t rise to power!” And Shang Qinghua is like “these bullies a lot smarter than I thought. Oh well, I’ll just have to work harder to protect my new best friend,”

Meanwhile Shen Jiu is like “why do you all care?! I’m just some guy!?”

Shang Qinghua is always carrying a massive med kit and Shen Qingqiu found out about it during a mission when they were both head disciples so whenever they are out together and he needs healthcare Shen Qingqiu always comes to Shang Qinghua like “don’t lie, I know you have some extremely specific medication for this up your sleeve,” and Shang Qinghua always pulls out exactly what he needs

It gets to a ridiculous point where Shang Qinghua starts pulling out herbs and items that are extremely rare and only found in dangerous parts of the demon realm and Shen Qingqiu doesn’t even ask because he doesn’t want to lose his supplier and have to go to a real doctor. Also Shang Qinghua starts stocking up specifically for Shen Qingqiu where as before it was all for himself.

One time some other peak lord gets injured on a mission and Mu Qingfang doesn’t have the cure at his peak so Shen Qingqiu calls Shang Qinghua and Mu Qingfang is horrified when he’s handed the exact thing he needed. He only then reveals that the cultivation world at large believed this plant to be a myth and demands to know where the hell Shang Qinghua got it.

Shang Qinghua can’t think of a good lie on the spot so he tells a half truth “I got it in a trade with a merchant near the borderlands, he’d inherited it from his father and didn’t know it’s true worth, just that it was rare. I wasn’t sure if it was the real deal but I bought it just in case,” he absolutely knew it was real. He wrote the thing

“And you told Shen Shixiong about it?”

Both Shang Qinghua and Shen Qingqiu agree without hesitation

Hello Chablie hello hello Chablie hello. I've actually forgotten everything about this apart from the fact that we had the conversation and that Mobei-Jun is intent on one-upping Shen Jiu. NEVERMIND, I'VE UNLOCKED MY BRAIN. Okay so, see, the thing is, Shang Qinghua isn't married to Shen Jiu yet. Why is this? Shen Jiu is waiting for Shang Qinghua to finally ask him to marry him, and Shang Qinghua is like "damn I hope Shen-shixiong finds a husband so he doesn't have to resort to leaving little baby A-Yuan with me all the time." He thinks he's the worst babysitter ever while A-Yuan is toddling around and calling him Baba, all the while hissing and biting at anyone else who tries to interact with him because he Doesn't Like Humans. So, technically, it's more just an almost-baby trapping situation except it just misses the mark because Shang Qinghua thinks he's the place holder for a father until someone actually worthy of Shen Jiu comes along. Yue-Shixiong, please don't kill him, he's just not remotely a threat which is why A-Yuan likes him!!!

So. This means that, while Shen Jiu has a leg up in the competition, Mobei-Jun still has a shot of being first wife. He's been courting Shang Qinghua longer, and this little human will not stop him from getting his little rat husband. If a child is what has drawn Shang Qinghua's attention away from him, then a child is what Mobei-Jun needs to find. Of course, this is found in the form of toddler Luo Binghe, who looks a lot like Shang Qinghua (much more than the human's child), and goes pretty easily because "wow that's a big demon and oh okay I'm being picked up now. I'm two I have no idea what's going on." He takes his child back to Shang Qinghua and goes "our child. Take responsibility." Shang Qinghua doesn't even realise this is Luo Binghe at first and so legitimately assumes that that's his kid without ANY question because hey they did hold hands that one time, maybe demon biology is different-

Cue smug Mobei-Jun and pissed off Shen Jiu fighting over who gets to marry him first while Shang Qinghua sits in the background entertaining the babies because he's good with kids.

Maybe this is niche but I would absolutely read a fic about SJ and SQH. SJ finds out that SQH kind of sort of knows the future and corners him about it. They come to a sort of agreement. SJ won't rat him out to the rest of the sect for being a traitor as long as he prevents SJ from meeting his OG fate. SQH knows things SJ has never told anyone, so he believes him.

And honestly, those two are a terrifying duo when SJ isn't smacking the poor author around with his fan. SJ is nicer still, he mellows out a LOT after clearing up misunderstandings with YQY given SQH's guidance. The sect is running more efficiently than ever, and SJ becomes pretty fond of his new pet hamster, giving him gifts and stuff and making him tea. SQH thinks... wow, the scum villain is actually a pretty nice guy. They scheme together your honor.

I’m very fond of the idea of Shang Qinghua just being absolutely gorgeous like most people believe he’s blessed by the heavens (sort of true) but he has no idea.

Like people stop and stare, he’s given free gifts and things all the time because of it. Though he’s really unaware and mostly thinking he’s just anxious and that’s why he thinks people are staring at him. His fellow peak lords think he must be aware and don’t like his weepy act paired with how under dressed he is, he acts like a prostitute! Dressing and acting like that for favors and better treatment he’s a peak lord for heavens sake!

The only one aware of how he actually views himself is OG! Shen Qingqiu. Though he has no reason to help the man so he refuses to clear up the misunderstanding. This changes when Shang Qinghua starts standing up for him and trying to dissuade the rumors and fix his reputation.

This startles him and he starts watching Shang Qinghua trying to figure out his ulterior motives. Slowly they start having private tea sessions and grow closer with the fixture of their respective reputations working.

I’m very tired but I can just imagine both of them thinking “why did this beauty choose me!?!” And then getting really jealous when the other receives romantic gestures.

Also, Sqh and sj just gossiping. One of the other peak lords just walk into sqh and sj talking shit about everyone while sj is eating caramel popcorn that Shang Qinghua made, and Shang qinghua is AGGRESSIVELY chewing on Melon seeds. Extra points if that peak lord is mqf and he just get dragged into these weekly shit talks. Because, he’s not that bad.

Scumplane rant

I feel like one of the reasons Scumplane is so interesting to me is because Shen Jiu values his pride and dignity highly as it’s something he has had to fight against all odds to obtain. He would rather die than beg for mercy, rather be slandered as a pervert than admit he craves comfort. Meanwhile Shang Qinghua has never been able to afford dignity. As shameful as he may feel, he is fully willing to wear a leash around his neck and bark like a dog if it means his continued survival .

They are two ends of the extreme and I’d love them to reach a middle ground where Shen Jiu learns to ask for help and Shang Qinghua learns to value himself.

They could fix each other trust

Also because Shang Qinghua knows Shen Jiu better than anyone so Shen Jiu can’t push him away with his icey facade or go down the whole “he’d hate me if he knew” rabbit hole because Shang Qinghua already knows his deepest secrets and he loves him anyway.

And because I think they would both be low key terrified of each other at first. Shen Jiu because he thinks Shang Qinghua is playing up his patheticness as a disguise and that he’s hiding something huge from the sect (which he is). Shang Qinghua because he knows out of all the peak lords Shen Jiu is the most likely to figure out he’s a spy and slit his throat while he’s not paying attention.

Hello Anon, I do want to thank you for your ask because I'm about to become brutal to this poor guy. NOT YOU, Yue Qingyuan. Okay, so Yue Qingyuan would certainly try to be the father that stepped up, but it just would NOT stick. First of all, baby Crowyuan is terrified of humans as it is (thanks, Liu Qingge), and Yue Qingyuan is a massive powerhouse. While other humans are easily settled because of how he hunches his shoulders and smiles sweetly, Crowyuan's danger instinct goes OFF and the moment he's in the same room as Yue Qingyuan, he starts bawling. Poor man is crushed by this, and he's all like "I'm going to KILL MYSELF" every time it happens because what do you mean a child, especially Xiao-Jiu's child, is scared of him?! He's like a soggy dog and people can't look at him too long because it's like "oh..that poor thing..." Meanwhile, Mu Qingfang is in the background like "Jesus Fucking Christ" because his sect leader is coming to him like "how do I make myself less scary?? :("

For TWO, Shen Jiu isn't even giving Yue Qingyuan a chance to be the father who stepped up! He sees Yue Qingyuan coming and goes "UGH, not this guy again," and turns to Shang Qinghua - the guy he forced to step up - to hand him the baby. Of course, Crowyuan isn't scared of Shang Qinghua because he's weak and pathetic, so he lets this happen and is like "Baba!!" Shang Qinghua, on the other hand, has no clue what's going on and assumes that Shen Jiu is just handing him the baby because nobody would ever infer that they were together and A-Yuan isn't scared of him. That's totally the only reason. Because why would Shen-shixiong want him in any capacity that wasn't dead? (Shen Jiu and Shang Qinghua would both be like "look at the hot ass bitch I pulled" when they got together and nobody can tell me otherwise.)
