Shame we didn’t get the video though if it was actually conducted over video; would’ve loved to have seen Ashton’s face scrunch up when giggling. 🤭 Now I’m just thinking ‘Ash on Zach Sang when?’ (Probably after The Roses has been released.) Anyway, thanks for always catching all the interviews and sharing!

Oh, you're welcome, I'm so glad you're enjoying the content as much as I am! I agree, a video version of that podcast would've been devastating (and dreamy). But also I can't believe how blessed we're getting with the promo this time around - since the Superbloom era was still early on in the pandemic, most of the interviews were print - and the album isn't even fully out yet! 🥰

As for upcoming interviews, Zach Sang has been such a 5SOS supporter, I could definitely see that happening. I know Ash followed Allison Hagendorf on IG a while back and in the time since, Luke has been on her show so I feel like that's a definite possibility! And Kyle Meredith always provides quality conversation and we've got an episode coming from him tomorrow! (And there's video. 😏 And Ash is wearing glasses in the thumbnail. So. 😌)

Someone once pointed out the similarities between these two promo arts, and i think that it could contain have some really good symbolism.

They could represent Pomni's and Ragatha's relationships with the other cast members as the show progresses.

Let's start with Pomni. When we're introduced to her, we see her as an outsider to the circus. She's lost, confused, and scared. But as the show progresses, we watch her forming deeper bonds with the rest of the cast, starting with Ragatha, then Kinger, then Gangle, and finally Jax. Jax is the most significant representation of this because we see him as an antagonist at the show's start from how he pushes around and bullies Pomni when she was still adjusting. Yet from the latest episode, it's kind of flipped and she seems to be the only one he trusts enough to have deepish conversations with.

Ragatha on the other hand, is introduced as sort of the mom of the group. She tries to comfort Pomni and gives her a tour. She helps her adjust to the adventures and tries to stop Jax from antagonising her and Gangle. She partipates in group activities a lot: the adventures, Pomni's breath-holding experiment, softball practice with Gangle and Jax. Based on all this, we think, she must be the most established person in the cast right? She should have some connection with the rest, since she acts like the leader/mom of the group.

Unfortunately, the opposite is slowly being revealed. First, Zooble hints that she's too nice to criticize Caine's adventures. Then Gangle admits that Ragatha doesn't always seem genuine. Then Jax reveals that her being too nice and happy makes him feel like she's trying to take advantage of him. We slowly realize that she isn't as connected to the others as she first seems. It turns out, she doesnt seem to have deep connections with anyone in the group, save for Pomni and maybe Kinger. It also feels like Ragatha sees herself as slowly losing connections with everyone. The end of episode 5 visually stresses this:

How does this tie in with the promo art?

Let's assume Pomni is watching the sun RISE. Sunrises represent a new day, with new opportunities, and therefore change. Even thoughshe seems to start the day alone, she has the chance to change that. And it shows. As the day (the show) progresses, Pomni makes friends and is adapting to the wackiness of the circus.

As for Ragatha, she's sitting alone at night. Nighttime can be seen as a time of rest, contemplation, and even as a moment to spend time with loved ones or friends after a busy day. Yet Ragatha spends it alone. Even the moon isnt present in Ragatha's promo art, while it seems like the sun is greeting Pomni. Both in the episode's end and in the promo, Ragatha seems to be contemplating the reality of her relationships with others. At the end of the day, Ragatha is all alone (literally in episode 5 lol), even though the during the day it doesn't seem like so.

So yeah that's what i got from it: the promo art represents the two's developping relationships with the cast members, and how they're going in opposite directions.

Could be just a theory and the two promo arts are just promo art. But who knows.

If you know, you know. It's a quiet, loaded line from The Way We Were, a film about deep love, impossible timing, and the ache of what might’ve been. And I can’t think of a more fitting way to begin this than with that.

That film taught us something crucial: that timing, background, and the weight of real life can undo even the deepest of loves. I have a video on YouTube titled Lukola the way they are if you want to know more about that.

Luke has finally gone public with his girlfriend, IG official. There’s kissing, smiling, and he finally looks comfortable, good for him. And Nicola, gracious as always, shared the link.

But if you’re wondering where I stand, I’m still here.

This is my first and only ship, and likely the last. I’ve witnessed many forms of love, real ones: friends, couples, partners, family. I’ve seen weddings that moved me to tears, relationships that inspired me. But I’ve never felt what I’ve felt while watching Nicola and Luke together. I don’t say this lightly: it feels different. It struck something in me I didn’t know needed to be struck. I don’t ship casually. I don’t follow celebrities like this. Yet, somehow, Lukola found a place deep in my heart.

I fell for Polin first because like many of us, I adore the friends-to-lovers trope. I loved Nicola first, from Derry Girls. I followed only her for a long time. Season 2 made me notice Luke in a new way. The chemistry they shared on-screen and off-screen was electric and easy. Then, I fell for Lukola harder. I didn’t ship them immediately because Luke was in a committed, real relationship, and I respected that. But once that ended, and the bts glances, the interactions, and later press and promo moments unfolded, something shifted for me. The affection, the depth, the timing, the way they looked at each other, how safe they seemed in each other’s orbit… I couldn’t look away.

Then came Australia, Italy, Brazil, USA, Canada, Ireland and London. Then the pap walk. Then the mixed messages, the brouhaha, the subtext, the distance and the silence. And now this an official relationship announcement on social media?

I know what I saw and heard during the Bridgerton press tour, especially when no one was supposed to be watching. I believe in what was there, even if it didn’t or couldn’t last. Maybe they’re just friends now. Maybe they’re trying to move on. Maybe they’re navigating a complicated emotional path in public, in private, under pressures we can’t begin to understand. Maybe there are differences, lifestyle, background, family that complicate things. Who knows what is going on? But what I felt, what I saw, what echoed between the moments… I still believe it was real.

This fandom isn’t about delusion for me. It’s about resonance. About recognizing a bond that mirrors something we long for connection, tenderness, safety, joy, love in its most unforced, radiant form. For me, Lukola isn’t just a ship. It’s a reminder that love can be subtle, quiet, messy, conflicted, beautiful, and completely transformative.

So yes, things look different now. And yes, this might be the end of something. But if it is, I’m not ashamed to say I cared deeply. That I saw love. And that I still do.

If they’ve let go, I hope it was gentle. If they haven’t, I hope they find a way through. And if they are truly happier apart, I wish them peace and light in every path they choose.

I believe Nicola and Luke have or had romantic feelings for each other. Of that, I am sure. I also believe that, at some point, in some form, they were together. Maybe it wasn’t conventional. Maybe it wasn’t long. But it was something. And love, real love rarely fits neatly into boxes. Life is complicated. Love is even more so.

It comes down to choices and timing. They are both adults. They know themselves. They know each other. They know what’s best for them right now. And maybe, just maybe, they are making the right choices, even if those choices don’t include each other. We’ve all made decisions we later questioned. Maybe they will too. Or maybe they won’t. Love doesn’t always work. Sometimes it burns out. Sometimes it’s not enough.

But if everything had truly been neat, if there had been nothing between them, then surely things would have cleared up long ago. The secrecy, the strange choreography of public appearances and private distance, the silence, it speaks volumes. As I’ve said before: this is the story they want us to believe now. That’s their truth. And that’s okay.

I’m not leaving this ship. Nobody’s married. Break up and divorce exist for a reason, I’m not wishing that on them, statistically speaking it happens. I won’t be shipping as actively anymore. I won’t analyze photos, videos or read into every action. I won’t engage in theories or dissect every glance. But know this: this ship isn’t dead. It’s not because I don’t believe in Lukola. I’ll keep an eye on them. I wish them both love, peace, and the strength to walk whatever paths they choose with or without each other. They’ve offered us grandiose moments of love and we are thankful, and if there’s nothing left, we will always have the world tour. Lukolaship is a submarine. It may disappear from sight, it may dwell in silence, but it’s never sunk. It’s still here, deep beneath the surface, but one day, it might resurface. Maybe in a year. Maybe in five. Maybe never. But if it does, I’ll be here.

E-soul arc Q&A with the director! Summary of the video under the cut

LH0 says the atmosphere/tone of the E-soul arc is different from the Nice (L0) arc: Nice's arc is absurd with elements of black comedy, while E-soul's is a more serious dark tragedy. He personally quite likes this arc because of how complex and human Yang Cheng's character is.

Q1: Is it possible that a dead person could be revived by Trust Value, sorta like becoming immortal?

More will be revealed as the story goes on, but Zero, the corrupted hero from E-soul's character PV, was once a god who brought destruction to the world. If everyone believes in a single person, that person can become a god. As such, the Commission was formed in order to use various means to curb and portion off the heroes' powers. An unspoken rule of society is that people will avoid deifying someone... and the ability to come back from the dead is a godlike power. That's why, at least for the time being, the setting of this world doesn't support such an ability.

((This seems to shoot down the theory that both E-souls died and are revived as a single identity that's just pure E-soul. Also, we know at least one of X's believers thinks he's omnipotent, which is a godlike power. So what's up with that. Is X going to be another godlike being like Zero had been? Maybe people are forgetting the dangers of deifying someone, since the Dawnfall Incident* happened decades ago. People under 40 did not experience the Incident themselves.)) *Still not the official name for the incident; I have no idea when we can expect an official title. If there's an official English name for it, please kindly let me know!

Q2: Will we know what happened to Xia Qing after the events of E-soul's arc?

Since the beginning, the story was planned around 48 episodes: the first 24 episodes were intended to introduce the heroes, and the back half will bring the heroes more directly into each other's orbits. Once in each other's orbits, sparks may fly, and some of the important supporting characters in the various heroes' lives may be drawn in as well. Please wait and see~

Q3: How was the order of the 10 heroes' introduction decided? (Lit. "was the order of the 10 heroes' introduction decided in order for the later ones to fill up plot gaps?"

It was mostly decided based on their rankings, but over time it was tweaked a bit so that characters who have a closer connection will have their stories closer together as well.

((I'm guessing he's hinting at Lucky Cyan and Queen's connection here? they seem close in the promos/merch))

Q4: E-soul's arc really proves that Enlighter's moniker of Eye of Truth is no lie! Will Enlighter have a part to play in the stories to come as well?

LH0 is pleasantly surprised that people liked/cared about Enlighter so much. His initial purpose of creating this project is to do some worldbuilding, so there are lots of different characters that might inhabit such a world. These supporting characters may show up in multiple people's stories and play a part. His hope is that once the worldbuilding is solid, any character that inhabit such a world could be the main character in their own story and even have their own mini arc of episodes; for example, Enlighter and even Pomelo could have interesting stories to tell.

LH0's drive and passion for the project is that once there is a solid foundation of the world, imagination for the stories and characters that inhabit this world is unlimited. He's excited to invite other teams to play in the world of TBHX, since Chinese animation has many small creative teams. He thinks that it's mutually beneficial if the smaller teams can get a chance to work on a project with a good IP so that they can build a reputation in the field, and these teams can inject creativity and enrich the world of TBHX as well.

((I honestly think this idea is quite cool, though idk how well it'd work logistically))

Q5: Can love become Trust Value?

Well... love and trust/faith in someone are quite complex, and it's one of the most interesting things for him in this setting. Although we see a lot of breathtaking action and big emotional moments in these 24 eps, even small things like YC's single Trust Value point from Pomelo can be very touching.

A story idea he had is of a mother stricken with terminal illness, and the MC needs 20 million people believing that they're a miracle doctor in order to save their mother. There probably won't be any combat or superpowers in such an arc, but the challenge of such an arc would be for the MC, who only has Trust Value of a single digit, to quickly gain the TV of 20 million people in a limited amount of time.

two years ago, i mentioned how i’ll be adding stuff to the devil timeline universe lol. this is part of that (sort of) and it is the type of cpn that will make so/os and other cpfs roll their eyes. but if you are into galaxy brain cpns & fake stuff then this is for you.

anyway, this is about the movie Crystal Sky of Yesterday. one of the characters (Qi Jingxuan) was voiced/dubbed by WYB. the film is uploaded here with english subs if you are interested.

story about dreams, friendship, family and first love in their youthful days. Tu Xiaoyi, Yao Zhetian and Qi Jingxuan are high school students in a small town, Lanxi, in southern China. This is a story about dreams, friendship, family and first love in their youthful days. ☁️

it’s a coming of age story, the characters are about to take the gaokao and are thinking about what they want to be when they grow up. tu xiaoyi meets the infamous qi jing xuan and they form a friendship that will stay with both of them for years to come.

i will be mentioning some similarities and why this is a queer film and the last part is the fanfiction aspect. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

the movie starts with Tu Xiaoyi in the year 2018 ( tho the majority of the film is in 1999 when they were in high school ) , all grown up and back in his hometown of Lanxi. he resigned from his job as a manga artist because he wants to pursue making his own story. looking at the character with the glasses and the fact that he is an artist immediately reminds us of XZ.

and it’s common knowledge that XZ has his own company with his friends ( design studio ) before he decided to enter the entertainment industry. so he had a similar story of sorts, working at an office then branching out on his own. you can also say that him leaving his “job” to become a “singer” is the same thing that the character is doing. he is following his dreams.

2018 was also the year they became closer— working on the Untamed together. A reunion of sorts. so that year being mentioned in the movie as when the MC goes back is an interesting coincidence. The source material for this was serialized in 2011 ( when WYB joined the circle ) & movie started production 2015 ( when XZ entered the circle ) 👀👀👀

The MC also likes to draw blue sky and white clouds + paper planes. two things that are a symbol in the bjyx fandom. not because we made up the connection, it was there. they both showed it to us so the cpn was so easy to make.

Qi Jingxian is someone who dreams of becoming a pilot. At some point, WYB said he wants to become a pilot ( during TTXS and tbh he can do anything he wants lol ). He starred in a film where he is a pilot too, Lei Yu in Born to Fly.

During the promo of the film, WYB posted on Douyin. It’s his photo as a kid and the transitions to him as Lei Yu. Idk if this is a direct way of him saying he dreamed of being a pilot, and now he technically gets to be one but the implication is v strong.

coincidence too that in the movie, QJX mentioned that his parents said he wanted to be a pilot and he had a photo. the photo is kinda like WYB’s.

it’s hilarious to me how WYB’s character is so like him. there is a sort of love triangle here cause the MC ( Tu Xiaoyi ) likes a girl. Qi Jingxian who views MC as a good friend knows this and helps him out in his own way. However the girl likes Qi Jingxian who is not even thinking about romance lol. He just wants to become a pilot and get away. 😂😂😂😂 the MC saw them talking tho and sort of holding each other so he went on angst mode. this brought some distance between him and QJX too.

years later, the MC is making a manga about their childhood and the panel shown is him with Qi Jingxian. Not the girl. 🤡🤡🤡🤡 the main page of the manga too — notice how prominent Qi Jingxian is?

the “reveal” part of this movie is giving some serious 🏳️‍🌈! i don’t know how anyone can miss it. earlier in the film , the girl gives the MC a “magazine” and inside it says “try your best.” It’s because of this that he finally decides to make mangas. but it was revealed that Qi Jingxian asked the girl to give it to MC. to make it seem like it was from her 😭😭😭

Right then I knew, from that moment i knew, the magazine Qi Jing Xian gave me opened the way for me to go make mangas in Shenzhen. I think if that summer would have been longer, maybe i would have said “see you”. If at that moment i said “i will see you” then would it have been possible to see each other again?

it’s so freakin sad 🥹🥹🥹

and the mention of that “summer”. the time he spent with his friends, but most of all Qi Jing Xian and how he wishes it was longer. ugh. it’s like the summer when CQL was filmed.

the film ends with the manga being published and a pilot picking it up from a store. this is Qi Jing Xian who made his dream come true. then his voice is played, when they were young, he was teaching the MC to play a game and in return MC must write a manga about them. and he did. it’s an open ending of sorts. they both became what they promised to be when they were young. as a viewer, we hope that they will reunite.

on a more serious note, an important message in the film is: “Whatever you do, I just want you to move forward. Try your best. Jiayou!”

this is something that the two of them always say. or a form of it. that when you find something you like, work hard for it. and that if you find someone special to you, you will shine for them. you tend to become a better version of yourself.

during the promotion of the film, we got some clues too:

p1 when they posted about the release date the kadian is 38 which is zhan bo. p2 is yibo’s weibo post for the film and the first one is the photo of the MC. the rest is his character. the caption is literally i hope you can meet qi jing xian in your youth, but the first one got cropped to show the MC and the whole photo is QJX and the MC. the kadian also, i will love you forever.

the production team weirdly enough, posted with reference to XZ. because he worked with both productions.

the official weibo of the movie was also leaning towards the whole 🏳️‍🌈 support cause they shared fanarts of the TXY x QJX pairing. Also the way the tag “QJX likes TXY” was popular. 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨

so now we have come to the fanfiction part and why this could be part of the devil timeline. the question is why was WYB so passionate about this project. he was finalizing this in 2018 as well, along with the other hundreds of things he was doing that time. was there a personal connection? probably. they might have known each other before and have communicated — which is the whole premise of devil timeline. XZ liked the manga and recommended it to Bobo and that’s why he took the project. Maybe they both loved the message of it and chasing your dreams. Maybe they both understood what was really going on between the two male leads too. ✌🏼

✨♌️ Sturniolo Triplets 2025 Predictions ☄️✨

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thanks to you all for such a glorious welcome to the Sturniolo Tumblr Fandom! 🤍 I've had such a great time here so far, and I'm so thankful for literally every person I've met so far on this app. I do hope (and know) there will be newer accounts who are new additions to this fandom made this 2025, and to them, I say welcome, and they are welcome on my account with open arms! 🥹🤍✨

Here are the predictions I have for the Sturniolos! Be warned that some may not even happen this 2025 and I might be getting messages of things that may occur in 2025, or things that are still occuring that have existed since the last 3 months since 2024. Tarot and energy reading is like that sometimes since time is not linear and energy can shift and be read differently as time progresses.

With that all being said, here are some predictions I have for the boys individually, as well as group-wise as brothers and as a brand.

🍀✨ The Sturniolo Triplets' Predictions as a whole entity ✨🍀

New group projects. This includes new video ideas, new ways of producing and creating content, and even doing trials of new ways to present their content.

Tour prep or even the start of a tour. This tour will be different from the rest, with newer ideas and fun activities for them and the fans to enjoy! They may even expand to newer countries and areas.

Travelling. The boys will experience new cultures and have agreat time in other countries together. Seeing Nick venture off into these new places in a different hemisphere allowed them to pull off that bandage of being more open to travelling further than just different states in the U.S.

More fan involvement in content, less fan involvement in personal lives. There will definitely more of a connect with their fandom when it comes to creating newer ideas and videos. However, they don't want to allow the fans into their personal lives as much anymore due to obsessive fan behavior that occurred to them both privately and publicly over the past few years (specifically 2023 and 2024). Less of them posting with friends and family except for just a few that they may collab with or those who feel a bit more comfortable with backlash or any hate they may receive.

More collabs with different YouTube and Twitch creators, even those that you all are probably not expecting.

Music involvement. I can't say too much on this, however I see them being involved in the music world, especially behind the scenes. This may be involvement in videography of music videos, promo for music, being sponsored, and just having more fun with their music friends and newer people as well.

Will the triplets themselves release music? Y'all will have to see...

New ways to do and film car videos, probably will film them a bit less? The car video visions and energies always fluctuate. On one hand, the boys love the comfy feel of them and would love to continue. On the other hand, from a profession perspective, sometimes they feel bored of them and feel as if they repeat the same content. So, to be honest, in terms of a prediction I feel content in, I don't really even have a clue with what they'll do. I want to say that they'll try new forms of car videos and then ditch the idea the following year or just do it every now and then within other forms of content. We'll have to see. This seems more of a late 2025/early 2026 thing. Idk.

Reading a lot more. He will definitely pick up more books, and even feel inspired to write his own one day.

More quiet on socials. If you think he was quiet now, just wait. He'll go ghost even more, especially just due to staying away from toxicity and the internet. It fucks with his brain.

A romantic relationship. I think he'll have a relationship or two. Seems fair to say. But I wanna give you all advice on this: From his spirit guides, they want you all to CHILL and BUTT OUT of his personal romantic endeavors. They know there will be bad apples, but if you can do your part, please oh please do not post about them a lot or be super negative. I personally wanna say there will be a girlfriend who is not a fan favorite and you all don't have to guess which girlfriend this will be... Y'all can say whatever you want about her honestly. She's kinda... hm. Anyway, you all will know when the time comes. You'll feel her intentions in your guts. The other girl I'm seeing is an absolute sweetheart omg protect her.

New friends. He'll step out of his comfort zone a lot more and make new friends. This is kinda along the same timeline of having a new romantic relationship.

More confident in certain aspects of himself. This is due to new inspirations, new motivations, and new endeavors he will have.

Personal YouTube videos. Yes. That is the post.

A lot personable in terms of conversations of mental health. He'll be having heart to hearts with people about his mental health both in the past and in the future. He definitely wants to be more of an advocate and champion of mental health rights and conversations.

Fashion ventures. Not saying much about this. But be prepared. New clothes, new appearances, new poses, new models!

New collaborations, sponsors, partnerships, etc. He will be making his own personal coin with these sorts of deals. They seem to be sports related, music related, fashion related, pop culture related.

New music things. New friends in music, new deals in music, new favorite artists, bigger artists, new concerts, bigger concerts and venues. He will be flown out to new things (by himself and alongside his brothers).

New clothes! Definitely a lot more and very different stylistic choices. He wants to experiment with newer aesthetics, colors, jewelry, textures, designs, etc. A lot more IG pics of him stunting in new fits to say the least. Also includes New Fresh Love clothes and accessories with new models!

More of a social media grind. Or at least he'll want to. There will be a point where he won't post and everyone will be like ??? But don't worry, it's for great reasons!

Dating. There's not much else to say about this. Y'all get the idea.

New friends. Kinda said all this before. And this applies to all three triplets tbh.

New interests! He definitely will be exploring new things a lot more this year. TBH I feel like he does every year, as this is sort of a resolution for him.

Less fear in social situations on his own? I think all of the newer ventures will make him feel a bit more comfortable on his own. I wouldn't say he'll be fully independent, just that he'll be more open to independence.

More flexing. Just sighed while typing this, but in more of a "Oh brother, here he goes again..." joking way.

Some scandal going on either involving him or involving someone who he is associated with that people will try to group him with. It will set him off course a bit, but he'll manage.

He will also curse and call people out when necessary.

Sooo many more ideas, soooo many more things to do, people to meet, deals to make, etc. In short, he will be grinding.

New friends! He's going to meet new people who fulfill him a lot more. The fans will definitely see him branch out more and hanging out with familiar as well as shocking new faces.

More independence. He will be doing more things on his own (just as his brothers will be). He'll just be flying like a bird (literally and figuratively).

Dating/Exploring. That's it.

Exploring his photography and videography a lot more. You all will definitely be seeing his name in some places you all wouldn't believe!

Collaborations. Whether it's other creators, other brands, etc., y'all will see it and have to blink twice.

New Space Camp products/ventures. Some seem more limited and more of like "trial runs", while others seem like things he'll definitely be keeping in stock. Also new lip flavors. I sense things that are fruity, fun, and definitely even more flavorful than the last packs. He will be working with newer people in his Space Camp brand.

Heartbreaks and a bit of down times. I hate bringing this up, but these are things I sense, especially with certain friends and people in his life. He will feel a bit down about these disconnections. But he'll live through them!

You all can ask me questions in my ask about other predictions and questions about things I didn't bring up. There are things I probably missed out on or just forgot to add, and so when you all ask me about them, I will post the links to the answers of those asks on this post so you all can go back to them!

Remember, some of these may not even be this year. They can be things that bleed out to 2026, or later if the guides were just super hype and wanted me to say them earlier! 😭🤍

People talking about holes in the major character stories - and yes that is true - there is so much emotional distance between all the characters and the audience and such a lack of growth in their journey, always running in circles and everything.

But at the same time I am thinking how even their emergencies/calls seem to have such emotional distance - I remember in early seasons mostly 1 to 6 just bawling my eyes out for those random emergencies - like it was the adrenaline rush and the tears I cried during the baby in the pipe emergency that sucked me in the show, before I began forming attachments to the characters and their stories.

Like I remember having such an emotional connection to those characters who would just appear for five - ten minutes in the show and being on the edge of my seat for resolve, my heart racing thinking will they or won't they survive and all of that.

Even the comedy element of the emergencies had some real depth to them in the previous seasons - like the Smurf lady or all those treasure hunt emergencies or the Bridezella... These past two seasons even the comic element of them doesn't have the same depth they used to have - I don't know how to describe it but there seemed be a sense of heart even in those comic relief emergencies, all we got is an alien hand and Brad almost killing some random actor because he is as Bobby said 'an entitled man child'.

Even the characters - the 118, Athena and Maddie - have such an emotional distance from those emergencies. I had such hopes from the baby in the pipe emergency in 8x06 and hoped for Eddie to have some catharsis but I don't know it felt like such an easy and fast resolve. It was a scary emergency and a good concept, but it didn't have the emotional high-stake I hoped it would with the way they promoted it in the promo.

And don't even get me started on the disaster emergencies... While I love Bathena and that plane landing scene has my whole heart... but why are the high stake emergencies in these season premieres and finale only involving Bobby and Athena. Give me the Earthquake and Tsunami like emergencies - that season 1 Plane Crash, the bridge collapse, the Blackout - where all characters have a part to play and I feel my heart racing for all of them and they all get to be total badasses in the rescues in their own way.

Seriously, are they having Chat GPT writing their episodes or what? Please, if you can't seem to invest in the storyline of your characters (which technically you should if you want your show to have some real heart to it), then at least, bring back those high-stake adrenaline rushes and the emotional depth into your emergencies or what is the point of the show being a procedural?

okay howdy howdy :) so we have our winners from this poll about which spiritkeep lineages to talk about more!!

as a brief reminder, spiritkeep is a therapeutic ttrpg designed to help players heal from trauma. the lineages represent the different types of people you can be in the game

of all the current lineages in the game (animalfolk, aquafolk, dreamfolk, plainfolk, naturefolk, sunfolk, wisps, and those from mixed lineage) the two that won the poll were dreamfolk and wisps!! animalfolk was in second place for a while :) which makes sense considering the website we're on (affectionate)

lineages don't include mechanical changes to your character (i didnt want to emulate the phrenology some big systems do) but do include the magical origins of the lineage, some minor magical powers you may have, and how your magic reacts when youre upset

so ... lets take a little peak at some of the lineages!!

the ancestors of dreamfolk had their spirits bound through magic to the world of dreams. dreamfolk may have the ability to control their dreams (dreaming lucid style), glean important knowledge from their dreams, or even on occasion see the dreams of others!! basically the dreamfolk is an excuse to have some fun (harrowing) dream sequences in the game :P

when a dreamfolk is struggling, they might slip away from reality, emotionally or even literally

wispfolk are descended from ancestors who were particularly lost, lonely, and disconnected from the world and turned into "wisps". wisps work a little differently than most other lineages. they dont actually form a stable generational line. rather, wisps are born randomly in a family, sometimes skipping several generations

wisps can see in the dark. they can also often control things that are ethereal: shadow, smoke, fog. however, its a constant struggle not to be swallowed up by these things, whatever that means to the player

how did your parents react when their child was born a wisp? do you work hard to connect with others, or embrace detachment?

mixed lineage

i wanted to talk about this one especially, as mixed lineages are important to me as someone who's biracial myself

in spiritkeep, there is always the option for a pc to come from multiple lineages. maybe their parents were from two different lineages, or maybe one or both of their parents were also mixed. a mixed pc might present more like one of their lineages in appearance or customs, or may blend them together. the cultural expectations, social challenges, and personal difficulties of these characters depend on the community they live in

are your multiple lineages viewed differently in your community? is your mixed lineage something you wear with pride or shame?

If not Buddie, why Buddie shaped? #2

Following my theory that season 7 and 8 are new seasons 1 and 2 on abc, where the writers revisits the big events from character’s pasts and retells them (you can read it here) I want to look closer at new episode 8x06 “Confessions”.

This is all fresh in my mind, I watched the episode like 4h ago, there is a chance I’ll miss something.

Like I said, I think we’re going to see at least 4 more big moments revisited (or rather the emotional state those events invoked) from previous seasons before Buddie goes canon. Kitchen scene, well, will and shooting arc. And one of those happened in this episode! But also so many other things! 

EDDIE:

Starting with Eddie in the confessional. I can’t help but see his fight club era here (call me bias, I love season 3 Eddie so much!). An attempt to find a healthy outlet to his emotions. He’s struggling and fighting with his inner demons, this time instead of rage it’s sadness and loneliness. 

And he is doing it with an outsider's help. Father Brian is like Lena Bosko. Why Lena and not Frank? I think Eddie would just shut on therapy at this point. He needs someone to talk to, someone with opinions and advice, caring enough to want to help but also not afraid to go straight to the point and call his bs - Lena and Father Brian did just that.

Ok. Time to revisit a big event from Eddie’s past - the well. ABC put the call with the little boy trapped in a pipe in episode promo as the red herring. The real purpose of this call was to remind us about the Eddie Begins episode. The important thing from Eddie Begins is that Eddie was alone in the dark pit - and in the end he saved himself. 

So the real connection between those two episodes is not in the call where 118 saves the little boy, but between Eddie coming out from underwater, drawing a deep breath and Eddie shaving a mustache, shedding his mask and dancing, breathing fully again.

It’s also interesting that the moment Eddie allowed himself to feel joy Buck knocked at his door.

BUCK:

This one is pretty straight forward. Like I said before, Tommy represents Abby - a transformative relationship - like Buck said himself. The fact that Tommy was engaged with Abby is a really beautiful way to further connect and close both relationships. What leads to the break up from Tommy’s side is also similar. Tommy knows he would fall deeply for Buck, and Abby didn’t come back because she knew she would lose herself in Buck. They were both protecting themselves.

And here is also a little parallel to Ali. Like her, Tommy offers Buck a proper and honest break up, showing maturity, understanding and clear reason why. And yes, Ali was also protecting herself, ending their relationship before they broke each other's hearts.

And one more thing from Buck’s side. The whole Abby thing throws him off. Maddie tells him it’s not a big thing, Josh tells him not to judge Tommy (honestly, Josh’s speech is amazing!) - this calms him down in the end, dating the same woman doesn’t feel awkward anymore. But the questions Josh is asking leave Buck confused. Taking the next step, moving in together - it’s like Buck is trying to prove he really feels those things Josh was talking about (or maybe even compensate for his “freak out”, confirm he’s fully into this relationship). And on some level Buck has those feelings, he cares about Tommy, but more than that, he simply feels he should be on the level Josh suggested and he wants this to work. It’s Buck’s impulsiveness coming to play, an action that causes reaction in a form of big gesture to confirm his feelings - a nod to his relationship with Taylor.

Fortunately Tommy explains those feelings to Buck (and to the audience) in a very kind way. 

Honestly, their relationship (the last two episodes especially) was handled beautifully, without unnecessary drama, without too much spotlight. It started with fireworks, naturally progressed and faded gently.

The cherry on top: Evan meant something more, something special for Tommy. Ending his goodbye with Buck means “we’re friends now”.

BUDDIE:

There are two things here I want to mention.

Ever since Gerrard separated Buck and Eddie this is the episode where we can see them working together as partners again. And this finally wraps up the divorce era.

The ending scene represents different scenes for each of them, ending different arcs.

For Buck the couch scene represents Abby’s comeback in season 3. He watched her ride off in the ambulance with her fiance (with Eddie solid by his side), and later he got closure from her.

For Eddie this scene represents him being embraced by the 118 after he dug himself out from the well. He’s connected again, no longer alone. 

And of course, the most obvious and sweetest thing - it’s the right couch (and they finally drink that beer).

Bonus MADNEY:

Couldn’t help but notice some revisits here.  Maddie’s postpartum depression is addressed very clearly, nothing to add here. During the pandemic Chimney stayed at Buck’s place, afraid to put pregnant Maddie in danger of catching the virus. Something happened on a call that changed his mind, made him overcome his fear and enjoy the future with his family. The same in this episode. But there is a little twist here and it involves brothers. In season 7 the new audience learned about Kevin. Guess who wasn’t yet introduced (and also took care of Maddie during the pandemic)... yes, I believe this season we will see Albert again.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

Writers & Projects Start Anonymous: do not share your ideas publicly. You are not allowed to discuss your project outside of the SECRET writer-only chat in the discord. This is to make the artist pitch claims blind and fair.

Your Final Product: Writers commit to producing a completed, new fanfiction PRIMARILY for the Dragon Age Media of at minimum 25,000 words. This work must be completed and posted to the AO3 collection by October 31, 2025. Writers who fail to reach the minimum will not be included in the Bang Collection, nor advertised by the Bang. This is out of fairness to all writers undertaking this challenge.

Longfics can be anything you like, within our sparing content guidelines! They are not constrained by prompts, DNWs, etc. There is no maximum word count, no limit to the fandom(s) (in case of crossovers), and no restriction on max rating.

Written works must be new:

They cannot be rewrites of existing fanfictions, or compilations of existing fanfictions, or reposts of existing fanfictions, that have been posted on tumblr, AO3, FFN, Livejournal, Wordpress, or other platforms.

Written works must be primarily for the Dragon Age franchise, even for crossovers:

“Geralt of Rivia with Templar Abilities, but still in The Continent, and no Dragon Age characters appear” is probably skirting the line, but “Geralt of Rivia is sent into Thedas” or “Cullen Rutherford as a Witcher in an AU version of Thedas” are probably okay.

Written works must be at least 25,000 words, and complete, when posted:

Works must be uploaded to AO3

Works must be submitted to the 2025 Big Bang collection

Works must be completed (no new chapters or significant revisions to be added)

Writers agree to meeting minimum checkpoint progress, and clearly communicating progress (or lack thereof) to the moderators of the event. These are listed in the Timeline.

Sign Ups: June 1-June 30

On the Google Form, open from June 1-June 30, Writers must provide:

Soft Check-In: July 1-July 14

On the Google Form, open from July 1-July 14, Writers must provide a current, non-zero word count. Any non-zero word count received by July 14 will qualify you to submit a Pitch.

Writer Pitches: July 15-July 31

On the Google Form, open from July 15-July 31, writers will submit their project pitches for Artists to claim. The information will then be anonymized and posted to the DABB 2025 Pitch Collection for Artists to peruse and claim. The mod team will then finalize teams.

Cut-Off Check-In: July 14-August 8

This will be a Google Form. Even if the fic was requested by an artist, we will not match artists with a fic that has not met the minimum 7,500 words by August 8, 2025.

Team Collaboration: August 14-October 31

Upon matching, Writers and Artists will be connected over email. From there, Teams can decide what platform is best for their communication. Please keep in mind our privacy recommendation.

In the event that the event has more artists sign up than writers, all fics will enter a lottery for the chance to receive a second artist match (forming a Team of Three).

Writers must send the latest draft of their writing to their Artist partner(s). It can be any length (7500 words+), and in any condition, but the artist needs something to go off of for their part of the Bang. If an Artist does not receive a draft of the fic after 72 hours, the mods will investigate. If it is found that the Writer has not met target word counts, they will be disqualified from the event and banned from future participation.

Writers should be in regular, private contact with their Artist partner(s). Writers should provide as many written excerpts as the artist (reasonably) requests.

While your partnership is not necessarily anonymous, your work should not be shared/streamed publicly until the whole fic/art combo is posted on your reveal day!

Submissions: October 19-31

Writers must add their work to the AO3 Collection for the 2025 Dragon Age Big Bang when finished, AND, via a Google Form open October 19-31, ONE REPRESENTATIVE from each time must submit material for the Tumblr promo posts. School Banner Analysis

It's time to talk about the school crest we see on the podium/lectern that Dr. Forbes stands at when addressing the assembled school on a few occasions. Though it is a small image with fairly low quality, the promo still from my post yesterday really highlights this crest and shows us some important details.

The Device

There are a few things to talk about here. Perhaps most obvious is the X shape behind the shield, called a saltire, giving us a strong echo of the crossed bones motif that the film focuses on. The saltire cross appears frequently in heraldry and is perhaps most famously seen on the Scottish flag, also called St. Andrew's Cross because the saint was reportedly martyred on a cross of that shape.

The shield (or escutcheon) contains a sable (black) charge of a double thistle and a laurel garland. Thistles are strongly associated with Scotland and they feature in the Royal Arms of Scotland and via The Order of the Thistle. They do also appear in plenty of other heraldic arms, and can represent pain and suffering or strength, bravery, and resilience. (Other examples of thistles in heraldry here.)

Laurel wreaths have represented victory and triumph since the days of ancient Greece, and that meaning is carried through into heraldry as well. The laurel wreaths, garlands, and crowns appear everywhere in Eurocentric cultures, so ubiquitous that you probably don't even register them when you see them. (Other examples of laurel in heraldry here.)

The most noteworthy part of the charge is the spear forming the central axis of the symbol. Like most weapons of the medieval era, spears feature commonly in heraldry, and when drawn especially long, it is blazoned (officially described) as a "pike". I don't need to point out the obvious importance of this symbol in the movie.

Occupying the same place as it does in the order sigil, it serves as the central pillar uniting two halves--two thistles, two branches of laurel--into a single whole.

The Motto

Beneath the device on the banner there is also a motto. The photo is small and zooming in results in terrible pixelation of some of the letters. "Mort" is very clear. The rest can be parsed together with trial and error, and I have arrived at the conclusion that this motto reads "Loyal a la mort." The translation is exactly what it sounds like: Loyal unto death. A Google search shows several extant uses of this motto, one for the Canadian navy and several associated with various families (example above is from the Garling family). I haven't gone further than that because the real world uses aren't important here.

The motto has clear relevance to the narrative, an encapsulation of two separate aspects of the plot. It reflects the Order's expectation that members will support each other and further their aims at all costs, above any other loyalties. It is also the perfect expression of Nigel's life and death, devoted to his beliefs and to Alex as his Jack, to the point of choosing death in order to achieve their unification.

The symbolism was all around Alex his entire life, staring him in the face every morning from his father's podium and even hiding in plain sight in the huge painting of the battle of Bannockburn on the back wall of the assembly hall. The choice remains with the viewer: whether you choose to believe that he remained incognizant of all this until Nigel opened his eyes, or if you think he only claimed ignorance to erase his part in the events of the film.

Miscellaneous Notes:

Although it was already present in the references to the exiled Templars fighting with the Scottish in the Battle of Bannockburn, and the fact that Dr. Forbes is himself Scottish--Nigel points out that both he and Alex are descended from those same Templars--the Scottish connection is only further underlined by the use of the thistle and the saltire cross.

As a side note, I found a school in Australia called Knox Grammar School which uses a device with both a thistle and a saltire cross. It's by no means the same device, but it makes me wonder if someone on the production crew attended that school and pulled from their own experiences to create the banner in the film, maybe as a little inside joke or shout out.

I will address the matter of the Colbie family tree in Nigel's book, and it's very simplified use of heraldic devices in another post. This one is quite long enough.

One of the things I'm loving about Agatha All Along (among many, many things) is Lilia's sudden outbursts involving tarot. So far we've had two cards mentioned, and I kinda wanted to analyze how they're being used. Note; I'm fully just an amateur hobbyiest when it comes to tarot, I mostly use it as a backdrop to my homebrew D&D campaign cause I enjoy the symbology of it, so I may get things wrong.

So first up -

Three of Pentacles - This one is triggered when Lilia sees the 'Three Star' on her eviction notice and she writes down the names of the rest of the coven. This one is pretty straightforward - at its most basic Three of Pentacles represents teamwork. Kinda important when you're forming a coven. It emphasizes collaboration and shared goals, all the things Agatha is going to need to survive the Road.

What I find interesting is that the Reverse reading is equally important; lack of cohesion, conflict, poor motivation, and ego are all part of the Three of Pentacles Reversed. They are also very much Agatha's flaws, and her current predicament is a direct result of those flaws.

So all in all, it's use in Agatha All Along is pretty straightforward; Agatha needs a team, they need to collaborate and work together. They, especially Agatha, need to be wary of ego, selfishness and disharmony, or they will fail.

The High Priestess - This one is triggered the first time Lilia meets Jennifer Kale. This one is waaay more interesting in what it means, IMO. In it's upright position, the High Priestess invokes intuition, sacred knowledge, and the subconscious mind. It speaks of femininity, although maybe not quite as strongly as the Empress. It makes sense for Jen; she's the most overtly feminine of the witches, wearing soft, light pink when Lilia meets her. Her speciality is Potions, which speaks to having a good deal of specialized knowledge.

However, this is a case where on first glance, the Reverse is actually stronger in Jen. The High Priestess Reverse is all about the disconnect from intuition, withdrawal, and repression. Like a witch who has been disconnected from her magic because she's been bound. It's no wonder that Lilia pegged her as The High Priestess immediately, since she seems to represent at least parts of both aspects.

What's really interesting though is what we see in the third episode. It's a trial, especially tailored for Jen, and we see just how fully she represents The High Priestess. Her self-doubt, caused by the disconnect from her magic, is STRONG, because she doesn't trust the intuition and knowledge that still exist within her. They only survive when she starts to trust herself again. There's also kind of a neat detail about the fact that they all hallucinate - bringing their subconscious to the surface - which is just another facet of the High Priestess.

One other fun thing; I very much doubt this was intentional, but The High Priestess is 2 of the Major Arcana, which makes it the 3rd card (since The Fool is 0). This is the 3rd episode of Agatha All Along, but since the first 2 were shown together, this is the 2nd night of aired shows. I just think it's a fun connection.

It does suggest that the show is using the cards to do some decent foreshadowing. For sure at the end of the 2nd episode, I assumed that the reading wasn't that deep, and for the Three of Pentacles, it may not be. But after the third episode and the way Jen's connection to the card grew stronger, I'm more interested to see what other cards will be mentioned and what role they'll play in the show. I know Lilia is holding The Tower in one of the promo posters, and I can't wait to see if that ties into Lilia personally, or if it's just part of the general theme of the show. It could go either way - The Tower represents chaos, and one of the working subtitles of the show was Coven of Chaos, so it's possibly just a reference to that.
