How do you feel about your current relationship with Dove?

“Anxious.”

“My history with this sort of thing is limited at best. And demonstrably weak.”

“I chose her for a reason. She is safety and grace incarnate. But that doesn’t mean the idea that she could walk away for one reason or another doesn’t exist.”

Non-metaphorically?

The metaphors themselves were endless.

Once thought to be a tick, in life. Believed to be sent by her mother to leech money and fame from him like the blood from a deer.

In reality, in life she was a cockroach. Unable to be killed or destroyed despite being crushed under a heel.

A praying mantis fit as well. Killing the man who hurt her when he no longer served her needs.

In Hell, she became a wandering glider. Forever searching for peace; something she would never find. Meandering aimlessly until Alastor found her.

And then, of course, when he had his hands on her…

Literally, though?

If your Alastor stayed with Vox for a full day after The Ordeal, what was it like when he realized he needed to disappear and give Vox back to the Vees? (Mod of randomly--accessed--memories)

Nerve wracking but not an immediate concern.

I don’t think Alastor necessarily hates the Vees until he comes back. He isn’t happy about what they represent—Valentino with his overt sexuality and Velvette with her immaturity—but doesn’t believe they will hurt him. They were his replacements, but he doesn’t know them explicitly.

He probably assumed he could check in via frequency until he realized he couldn’t. That would have been an issue, but he’s already in Heaven and there’s nothing he can do.

Once he comes back and sees the full picture, that’s when he starts to believe the Vees are toxic and “ruined” Vox. Because even though he shares some similarities with Niffty, she was broken long before Alastor “helped” her.

So the Vees most likely broke Vox in a similar way once “he told them no”—in Alastor’s opinion.

I’ll discuss the differences in directives themselves in another post, but erasing the Vees is less about getting rid of their influence at first and much more about returning to old times. He would have tried to reset Vox complete decades back rather than pick pieces apart. Bring him back to a place where he and Alastor were at their peak together.

Obviously that’s different in current multiverse drama, where he’s already mistrusting and resents them entirely, but overall those are my thoughts.

Spill it: What do you think Vox would have done to you had you not acted as you did all those years ago? [RAM]

“It could have been anything.”

“Any possibility is horrific, in my opinion, but…”

“I think what could have happened was not nearly as important as what did happen.”

“He broke an unspoken promise. I didn’t need reassurance that his little tricks wouldn’t affect me, because, like a fool, I trusted him and his intentions.”

Are the leaks going to have any effect on how you write your Alastor (either in terms of lore or characterization)?

Honestly… no.

No spoilers or anything just a little explanation under the cut.

I always knew I was going to end up heavily canon divergent from Season Two onward. I’m probably already incredibly divergent now.

But I enjoy the character that I do write, and from what I’ve seen and heard, that simply isn’t my version of Alastor.

I’m always willing to play with dynamics, especially if someone wants to try something different or more canon based, but I already lean very far into AUs as much as “compliant” territory.

All of that to say that… it’s going to be very hard to wrestle my characterization out of my hands.

“No, no. Associating what I do with redemption is hardly the correct line of thinking. It might be possible, but that is not the goal.”

“That’s nothing to say for what they would do if they did reach my mind, my heart, my soul. Tear it to pieces maybe? Poke holes with no way to mend them?”

“Would it even be permanent? Would they use blessed steel to make sure I do not regenerate?”

“No others have my stitches, do they?”

“So how would they be certain? The closest anyone could come would be… well, by forcing it externally. But even then it would not last.”

“For nearly sixty years, I only performed a transformation on one.”

“My permanent stitches were meant for family and family alone.”

“Seven years ago, I added Vox. It had been a question for some time, whether I would… go that particular route or not.”

“I didn’t want to dilute the importance of it, and it is a very hard process. Putting just anyone through it is pointless. I have to know and understand them well enough that I know what to address, what to adjust.”

“But then I met Virgil.”

“And it became clear to me within minutes just how much he was suffering. And I knew that I had enough experience from Vito… I was confident. I might have had help, but I knew what needed to change and I was right.”
