There’s something beautiful in contrast.

He’s wicked and wild, sure. But there’s a vulnerability not otherwise recognized. Hardly weak, but cracking under the weight of something.

I’ll protect him forever.

Does he know? Would he care?

Maybe not. It changes nothing, in any case.

Beyond the initial shock, it only takes a couple of seconds before Alastor reacts in a very different and unexpected way. Planting a chaste kiss on his alternate before he can properly process the chain of events that just occurred.

He didn’t know why he was lifted.

… But he didn’t know why he did that either. The gesture had been inherently romantic, and he had responded without thinking.
