Бес- в славянской мифологии — зловредный дух, демон. Славяне-язычники верили, что земля в течение всей зимы остаётся под властью бесов, и таким образом в славянской дуалистической мифологии бесы были олицетворением темноты и холода. Бесы живут повсеместно на Земле, нет их только на небе. Именно в этом смысле употребляется данный термин в народном творчестве, особенно ярко в заговорах.  Бесы могут представляться в различных образах. Наиболее обычный образ бесов в иконографии и фольклоре — тёмный, рогатый, хвостатый, на ногах копытца.

Подказанье - странный термин, как будто я описываю место обитания местного "народа с холмов" (фейри в кельтской мифологии). У нас вроде как была чудь белоглазая, которая "ушла под землю", а у тюркских народов ещё и всякие пэри, которые что-то среднее между демонами и феями.

The Forgotten Legend of Unugai

Imagine yourself as a traveller in ancient times, riding your horse through the hushed darkness of a graveyard. As expected, the cemetery lies still and empty in the late night hours. Suddenly, your attention is drawn to an unexpected sight—a stray goat perched by a gravestone.

While you were pondering, the goat has already made eye contact with you. You would like to look away, but something draws your gaze to the goat. In a bizarre twist, the goat rises onto its hind legs, its hooves rapidly growing in size, elevating it almost to human height. Without hesitation, the transformed goat rushes at you, lightning-fast covering the distance between you. The roar of the frightened horse brought you out of your daze and you tried to run away from the demonic creature, but it was faster. With astonishing agility, the creature leaps onto your horse and clings onto you from behind. The horse immediately weakened under the influence of the new rider, and so did you. With each passing second you feel your strength leaving you, and your resistance is futile.

However, the first rays of sunlight glimmered on the horizon, and the creature's grip began to weaken quickly. The colossal goat swiftly dismounts the horse and vanishes from your sight in the blink of an eye.

Once you come to your senses, you make your way to the nearest village, hoping to uncover an explanation for the harrowing encounter. You recount your story to the village elders, known as ağsaqqallar, who listen attentively.

After careful consideration, the elders identify the demonic creature that assaulted you last night as Unugai. The elders express sympathy for your plight, explaining that the limp you acquired from the incident will be joined by a speech impediment. The duration of these afflictions remains uncertain, leaving you with an unsettling sense of uncertainty.

Mentions of Unugai were found mainly in the Sheki region of Azerbaijan, where tales of his ominous presence were once deeply rooted in local folklore. Yet, the passage of centuries, marked by the influence of Islamic beliefs, has nearly erased Unugai from the collective consciousness. Nowadays, the mere mention of cemeteries at night sends chills down the spines of children, who, in their fear, cry out not "Unugai!" but rather "jin," invoking the spirits of Islamic legend.

Intriguingly, archaeological discoveries in present-day Azerbaijan have unveiled enigmatic, smiling idols, thought to have been placed in cemeteries by the ancient tribes of Caucasian Albania. Their purpose remains shrouded in mystery, but a tantalizing connection emerges when exploring the legend of Unugai and its transformation into the genie narrative. It beckons us to consider that in bygone eras, similar legends may have pervaded these lands, and people, through the guardianship of idols, sought to shield their sacred resting places from malevolent forces.

У меня помимо сильной увлеченности днд был в разработке свой проектец. Этакая солянка из рассказов с кучей артов/гифок по ней. Вот это лорные боги этого мира. Сейчас он на паузе, потому что я делаю игру. Спойлеры по игре тоже скоро сюда кину))

День одиннадцатый. Кентавр

Сама история рождения этих существ кажется занятной. Согласно легенде, древний царь Иксион пригласил в гости своего тестя, после чего коварно убил гостя. Боги были в бешенстве, и только Зевс заступился за Иксиона, заметив, что его убитый родственник был тоже не "святым". Благодаря заступничеству Громовержца Иксион попал на Олимп.

Но вместо благодарности царь начал подкатывать к супруге Зевса Гере. Заподозрив неладное, бог решил затуманить разум Иксиона, подослав к нему что-то вроде дымки из облаков, которая очень напоминала Геру. Решив, что богиня сама снизошла к нему, царь позволил много вольностей совсем не джентльменских.

Убедившись в верности своих подозрений, Зевс приковал Иксиона к колесу, которое к тому же пылало огнём, обрекая его на вечные муки. Однако от связи с тем самым «облаком» родились существа, которых назвали кентаврами. Выглядели они удивительным образом – верх тела принадлежал человеку, низ – лошади. Вот такая вот история.

Обычно больше внимания уделяется мужским особям кентавров, а женских информации мало. Самки кентавров существовали и назывались кентавридами. Но, судя по всему, у этого вида был максимальный патриархат, поэтому самки особенно не засветились в мифологии. Кентавры славились своими военными навыками и своей мудростью, а это были, всё же, мужские черты. Кентавриды не принимали участия в сражениях и не являлись воспитателями для греческих героев.

P.S. А кентавриды очень даже ничего... Если бы они могли отращивать ноги как русалки на суше, то...

Kikimoras are the naughty spirits in Slavic mythology.

🌿 Swamp Kikimora is one of the types of Kikimoras, although, as it seems to me, it is this type that people have heard about the most. As well as a home Kikimora, it is considered an evil spirit that does nothing but trouble. Swamp Kikimoras differ only in their place of residence, appearance and a number of animals in which they can transform. Kikimoras can also become invisible and know how to light swamp lights that beckon travelers into dangerous swamps with their light. Vile and playful creatures. Usually they come from the restless souls of girls who disappeared in the swamps

I myself would be interested in learning more about them and finding out how Swamp Kikimoras differ from Swamp Mermaids besides their appearance. Maybe it's all about their negative reputation, although all that differs from tale to tale 🍃
