Rayna - Task Sixteen

Rayna Wilde:

1. Who’s on speed dial? Rayna’s speed dial list is pretty long. It is filled with all of the people that she calls on a regular basis It obviously starts with her sisters and Abel. Then, she has Juliana’s school and pediatrician.  Lastly, she has her work and a few of her friends.

2. Your character gets turned down for their dream job. What’s their second choice? Honestly, Rayna hasn’t thought about it. She is working really hard to become a nurse and if she thinks about the possibility that she may not be able to do it, she might break down. She needs to think positive until she finishes school and she’ll figure the rest out after.

3. What would they tell their ten-year-old self? Don’t be stupid and get wasted throughout high school. Fall in love but be smart about it. Don’t let anyone stand in the way of your dreams.

4. When was the last time they were held? By who? The last time that she was held was a few days ago by Abel. Despite her better judgement and being constantly let down, she cannot stay away from him. She loves him and she doesn’t think that will ever change.

5.What childhood injustice did they never get over? Rayna will never get over losing her mother. She was nine when her mother died of cancer and it still hurts her to this day. When she’s really upset, she visits her mother’s grave to talk to her. She also goes on her mother’s birthday and the day that she died.

Rayna - Task Fourteen

Growing up, Rayna always admired her mother. She worked hard for what little they had but always tried to make time for her daughters, even when she barely had any. The loss of her mother was a hard one. Being only nine years old when it happened, Rayna did not even know what death was let alone how to grieve it. She tried to hold on to as many memories of her mother as possible. It was then that she started journaling as a way of remembering everything that she could. Rayna does not know much about her father. She was an infant when her father went away to jail. When she was younger, she would make up stories about him and the life that he was living. She did not fully understand where he was and why he was there until she was older. Recently, he has tried to come back into her life but Rayna isn’t sure that she wants him back, especially around her daughter. Juliana did not need another man in her life that could disappear at any moment.

Rayna - Task Thirteen

Rayna admired the different hues of the falling leaves as she sat outside of her high school. Fall had been her favorite season ever since she was a little girl. There was something about the chilly bite in the morning air to the way that the weather warmed up by the end of the day that made the brunette happy. It always made her happy, which was why she sat on that bench, staring into space.

Her mind had been heavy ever since finding out that she was going to have a baby and she knew that she was withdrawing from everyone that she cared about. Even fall did not feel the same as it used to. Everything looked the same. The leaves were still changing colors. The fall scents were in the air. She was practicing for the annual homecoming game. The only thing different was her and she knew it.

Rayna placed her hand onto her stomach as she began to think about all of the ways that her life would change, if she kept the baby. It would change in so many ways, some of which the brunette did not yet realize. However, fall would still stay the same and so would the world around her.

She was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she did not hear her best friend approach her. Rayna had known Ethan since she was a little girl. They had grown up together and been in the same class since kindergarten. Ethan was always there for her, even when she wasn’t there for him. 

“You ok? You’ve been really distant lately. Matilda noticed it too.” The words stung deep inside of her in a way that she didn’t think they would. How could she explain this to him? How could she tell her best friend that she had been hiding this massive secret from him? Rayna took a deep breath before letting it spill out like word vomit. 

“Ethan, I’m pregnant.” She closed her eyes and waited for the backlash of his reaction. When all that she heard was a simple ‘what’, Rayna knew that she had to continue. “I am pregnant. Abel and I, well, we’re having a baby.” 

The silence between the two became deafening. Rayna could not stand it. She wanted to scream. She wanted to shake Ethan and tell him to say something, anything. Instead, she continued. “I just feel like...I have this body, you know? And every day, it gets up and puts on clothes and gets me from point A to point B but it’s not like it’s mine anymore or something. It belongs to someone else now. It belongs to her.”

Rayna looked down at her stomach and placed her hand gently on it once again. “Her?” She shrugged before shaking her head and looking up at him. It was the first word that he said since she started her little rant. She looked up at him, begging for him to speak. “Are you going to keep her?” The brunette nodded as she looked up at him, her eyes pleading for him to say more. “Good,” was all that he said before they sat there in silence one again staring at the leaves falling from the trees.

Rayna - Task Ten.

00.  the fool: what are your muse’s thoughts on new beginnings? does it frighten them or excite them? Rayna is scared of new beginnings. She is not a fan of change and has not handled change well in the past. She is trying to get better with that though, not wanting her daughter to grow up the same way.

01.  the magician: how does your muse feel about fate? do they believe they can change their own destiny? She is a huge believer in fate. She believes that everything happens for a reason and if something is meant to be, it will be.

02.  the high priestess: how does your muse make decisions? do they trust their instinct or would they rather trust their heart / their logic? Despite putting on a tough front when she can, Rayna tends to make her decisions with her heart instead of her head. She is very caring and has a hard time making decisions logically, especially when someone that she cares about is involved.

03.  the empress: does your muse have parental / nurturing figures in their life? how do they impact them?  Yes, Rayna’s older sisters have been parental/nurturing figures in her life. She never knew her father growing up and her mother died when she was young. Despite having good memories with her, her older sister Kyra has been more of a mother figure to her ever since.

04.  the emperor: how much respect does your muse have for authority? why is this? Rayna respects authority as long as they are doing what they are supposed to. Rayna feels a moral obligation to stand up to injustice. She always has and she always will.

05.  the hierophant: what are your muse’s morals / ethics? do they follow their moral code strictly? She believes that everyone should be treated fairly and equally. She will always stand up for what she believes in and hopes to help make a better world for her daughter one day.

She tries to have the best relationship that she can with everyone that she meets. She is not one to burn bridges. While Rayna does value having a significant other, she is currently in an on-again off-again relationship with Juliana’s father. She loves him but won’t fully commit to him since he has hurt her in the past.

07.  the chariot: how much does your muse care about winning? are they a sore loser? Rayna is not one to care too much about winning. She was never really competitive, even in school. She was usually too busy standing up to injustice or praying with friends.

If she is not going to school full-time and working at the coffee shop, she is taking care of her daughter and working to give her the best childhood that she can.

09.  the hermit: how introspective is your muse? how often do they self-reflect? Rayna has been trying to be more introspective lately. She is usually so hyper focused on others that she tends to forget about herself and making herself better.

13.  death: is there anything in your muse’s life that they should be letting go of? Probably Abel because they have way too many issues to work but she can’t. She loves him way too much, even if she doesn’t always admit it.

16.  the tower: what event drastically changed your muse’s life? do they resent that event or are they glad of it? Having Juliana was the biggest change in her life. She was 16 and while she was scared at first, it was the best thing to ever happen to her.

17.  the star: what does your muse take inner comfort in knowing? what guides your muse? Justice and her love for her daughter guide her in her every day life. She takes comfort knowing that she’s doing everything she can to make the best life for her daughter.

18.  the moon: what does your muse long for? is it a realistic desire? Rayna longs to be happy. While Rayna puts on a positive front, she is often worried about what is going to happen to her and her daughter. She also worries that she’ll never have the type of love that she wants and wants to show her daughter that she deserves.

19.  the sun: in general, how optimistic is your muse? does your muse appreciate the small things in life? Overall, Rayna is very optimistic. However, that changes at night when she gets into her own mind and starts overthinking things.

20.  judgment: is your muse forgiving of themselves? how about others who wrong them? Rayna has a hard time forgiving herself but forgives others easily. The only time that she doesn’t is when she has given someone multiple chances and nothing has changed.
