Intersex-disabled combination survey results part 2: two flags and coinings and one non-result

Part 1 here with flags for four other ways that intersex and disability can go together and one new coining

Left: Inter-iatrogene. an intersex person with an iatrogenic disability. Iatrogenesis is the term for when medical intervention causes illness or disability. This will often overlap with interdebility. But an intersex person who willingly chooses a surgery which causes them an unintended disability (e.g. chronic pain) would be an inter-iatrogene and not interdebilitated. An intersex person who has PTSD from a (non-medical) hate crime would be interdebiltated and not an inter-iatrogene.

Right: Interimpaired: seeing your individual case of your personal intersex variation as a disability. For example, somebody who understands their salt-wasting CAH as a disability, but is not trying to claim that everybody with CAH understands their variation that way.

Survey results: relevant details

Inter-iatrogene / intersex-associated iatrogenic disability

The matching of the candidate term "inter-iatrogene" to the meaning above had an average score of 4.3 out of 5 (where 5 is strongly agree/highly suitable). It was the highest rated candidate term for this meaning. 😀

Similarly, the flag that I'm releasing as the inter-iatrogene flag was also the top-ranked candidate flag design for this meaning. It had an average rating of 4.3 out of 5. 😀

🆕 Best as I can tell, iatrogene is not already a term in English, so I'd like to coin "iatrogene" as a term for people who have any kind of iatrogenic disability (intersex-related or not). Note: Iatrogène is already a term in French, this is me being a bilingual Canadian and importing a useful term from French rather than "inventing" it. ⚜️

Interimpaired / personal view of one's variation as a disability

In the survey I asked for people to rate suitability of different flag designs & potential term coninigs, as well as how much demand/utility they saw for each use case to even have a flag and/or coining. The two questions about demand/utility have played a big role in how I've prioritized the matchings of terms and flags.

The thing about asking everybody about potential utility is that naturally the people who personally identify with a use case are going to rate the utility as higher than the people who don't personally identify with the use case. 🤔 So I set up the analysis to use weighted averages rather than straight-up averages. If a respondent self-identified with a given use case, their vote counted twice when it came to matters directly related to that that use case.

I did this to ensure that if I saw low demand for a term/flag, I could have some confidence that it wasn't just because people personally didn't identify with it. 😅

I explain all this because this case had a medium amount of demand for a flag (ranked #4 out of 10) and a low demand for a term to be coined (ranked #8 out of 10). 😕

The two highest rated flag designs for this use case had higher ratings for those other higher-demand use cases. The yellow-purple concentric rings on a grey background the best rated flag design that wasn't prioritized for a higher-demand use case. It had an average vote of 3.9 out of 5.

The term-meaning matching for this use case was 3.5 out of 5 - not super high. This was the meaning which had the highest score for the term "interimpaired". However, it was not the highest-scored term for the meaning in question: "intersex-disabled" had a score of 4.0, "interdissex" had a score of 3.9, "disintersex" was at 3.8, and "disabled-intersex" was at 3.5.

But the terms "intersex-disabled", "interdissex", "disintersex", and "disabled-intersex" all have higher ratings on terms which were perceived to have more utility, and so will be prioritized for terms that people said they'd get more use of. 👍️

No flag or term for "variation as disability"

Based on the survey results, I will not attempt to coin a term for somebody who views their intersex variation as a disability, and I'm not presently planning to release a flag either. 🤷

In the survey I presented 10 possible use cases (different meanings that a flag/term could have). This use case is for when somebody a whole intersex variation as a disability, rather than just their own case (e.g. "I have CAH and CAH is a disability." rather than "I have CAH and I personally see it as a disability but not everybody with CAH does.")

This meaning had no clear matching to a candidate term and had the lowest score in terms of potential utility (average rating of 2.5 out of 5 where 5 is strongly agree/high utility). It was also ranked #9 out of #10 for demand for a flag, and no candidate flag showed a clear association with this use case. 💀

This use case got some push-back in the open-ended question. Even though it's totally a thing for (some) intersex people to express these sorts of sentiments, the survey respondents were collectively iffy about giving that sentiment a term and/or flag. As I understand it, the people pushing back on it were displeased that somebody would attempt to speak on behalf of everybody with a given intersex variation.

I'd like to reiterate my gratitude to everybody who participated in the survey and my various polls on this tumblr! 💜

At the rate I'm going through the data, I expect I be posting two more posts on the survey results in the next day or so.

Tommy & Grace’s 100th Wedding Anniversary!!

The man smiled more times in this single episode than the entire series!!!

I rewatched that episode and I must say it was shot so beautifully. There was so much judgement and chaos around Tommy yet when he was near Grace, everything evaporates and he naturally becomes the soft & gentle Tommy we only ever see with her. Grace effect!!!

We were blessed with so many iconic and adorable moments from the wedding day.

Here’s my 7 favourites:

⚜️Bridezilla Tommy- The usually calm and collected Mr Shelby was a bundle of nerves, all because he cared about Grace’s feelings and didn’t want to embarrassed her in front of her family!!

⚜️Marraige Kiss- everything was perfect about that shot. Their eyes and smiles said it all. They had both wanted this moment for a long time and finally overcame all the hurdles (individual and societal) to become Man and Wife.

⚜️The little carraige ride on Grace’s favourite horse. It is elaborated in the script. Tommy is grumpy but eventually comes around and Grace manages to make him smile.

⚜️Hello Mrs Shelby *swoon* - The entire sequence from the beginning when he is throwing a tantrum up to being on top of her on bed, it was absolutely adorable and I had hoped we would be blessed with more such moments now that they are together. But alas that stayed a dream!!!

⚜️The dance- When they are together, the entire world drowns. It was so beautiful to see just them being so close and in each other’s arms, no one else on the world mattered except them and Charlie.

⚜️At the end of day- just them. His calm in between the chaos, such a serene and peaceful moment. I am so glad we have this moment. She was his strength, he could have overcome any trauma as long as she was with him.

Caught by the tail, my attempts at escape were thwarted. Convinced that death was freedom, I didn’t want to hear it. Too many emotional explosions and disappointing achievements, this endless abyss of numbness became too much to rationalize away. Christened as an infant, I watched this religious game from the start. Preset responses replaced by playing on words, actions did not cover the sound. Not accusing any other, I became maniacally familiar with highs and lows. Realizing that it was all one big safety net, I got tired of disappointing myself. Unable to physically see or tangibly hold my source, I was hellbent on forcing the exchange. I’m using the past tense to minimize red flags. Honestly, the tension hasn’t relented. This argument with divinity continues at the expense of lying. I’ve only connected with anything through honesty. Everything else was attempting to blend in and to stay attached through normalization. The idea that we can fake it until we make it is useful to a degree. It is when it loses the limitation of practice and starts bleeding into perception that it loses applicability. So, criticism and analysis expose flaws. Responses through such must be balanced by self-reflection. Under the gaze of time, we can pierce through our politically correct armor to rediscover youth. That child inside contains a fire which was never meant to die. A tale being co-written by perfection and finitude . . . No more unique than any other; one echo of being loved, protected, and safe.

⚜️ DRAKEN vows to be more stern with you. He’s always had a great sense of judging one’s character and has never held back on telling you when someone isn’t worth your attention, but this time, he needs to make sure you listen to him. Where you would usually roll your eyes and insist on giving your new suitor the benefit of the doubt, he won’t just give up on changing your mind this time around. He doesn’t take his eyes off of you for even a second, and with the way you’re finally smiling again, he hopes you’ll finally see him—that he’s the one who will treat you right.

⚜️ BAJI immediately starts throwing punches. Don’t bother holding him back, he’s had enough of watching you let yourself get walked all over by assholes who aren’t worthy of walking this earth. Yours is probably one of the more difficult readings here, not because it’s painful or tragic (though may involve something painful or tragic in the past), it’s just not easy. You’re being called to heal a relationship in your life, maybe several, 3 Cups is reuniting with people, they may be friends, close relationships you value that have gone astray for some reason. They don’t have to be friends, but often are. Celebrating is the goal. Could be 1-3 people. It’s something you’ve been avoiding, because it involves accountability, apologies, and speaking life into things that bring up difficult emotions in yourself, and others, you’d just rather not, emotions are not where Capricorn is comfortable, practicality is, tangible things your efforts can change. Which…this applies to that, just differently. Spirit is saying you have to, because you want to, this person/people make you happy and things can’t change until you do. Others won’t be “the bigger person”, if that’s the case, and the blame may be on your shoulders for whatever issues, that’s why. So it’s up to you.

You may have blocked this person/people or have otherwise avoided communicating with them, they could be another earth sign or that’s your own energy. You’ve been separated from your friends, family, some likely group of people that you want to apologize to. Because you want to, the reason is 6 Pentacles & 10 Cups. You want to reconnect, reconcile, you could have literal gifts for them…a very practical “earth sign” way of showing love, but the point is to show love to these people you do love. It could be someone’s birthday is coming up. You want things to be happy again, and for people to be happy with you, celebrating 🥳 This could also be flipped if you know it is, and someone you haven’t spoken to could be apologizing to you.

Your advice is to let them back in, and reserve your judgement. 2 Wands shows focusing on the path moving forward, and letting go of old burdens, old hurts, the old ways that keep you stuck in some way. Negative cycles can be released, but it takes conscious effort on your part, you could be used to jumping to red flag conclusions that aren’t warranted. Or someone is this way towards you. Your message saying chill the fk out points to you, the goal is HAPPY, all of the other ick emotions need to be dealt with openly at first, and then continued to be dealt with privately and left at the door. There’s more of a feeling of “it’s not that serious” going forward. Mystic Healer is here to heal and then continue on, not relive the old crap and stay there, releasing it for the sake of happiness, celebration, renewal, and healing some cherished connections. But it’s definitely a process, not an overnight thing.

Carried by divinity and creation, I’ve been so fortunate to survive myself. Constantly prone to suicidal ideation, some things can’t be shared. Whether it be when I finally fall asleep or during secret moments where I turn to silence, my heart becomes overwhelmed by existence. Thankful and spiteful, I inherit each hour hoping for healing to reach us all. While I can’t house all of my sisters and brothers, I realize that riches won’t cure the psyche. Lack and excess are plagued by emptiness. The sheer amount of purpose and beauty within each being is more than any finite soul can bear solely. We aren’t pawns or specks of dust on the beach of infinity. We are it, all of it. Created in the picture of past, present, and future; we will discover that none of it was wasted. You and I? Just that, you . . . and I.

Our world remains divided by flags, genders, belief systems, and everything humans can imagine. A savior conquered death, while 316,000 die every 48 hours. Some say such is life. But, that doesn’t make it easy to digest. So; we see psychiatrists, imams, priests, support groups, and self-help books. Rationalizing loss and suffering helps us adapt to redundant experiences. Intoxication through prescribed or self-medication shifts our perspectives on normalcy. Hobbies, passions, and outlets attack emptiness for seasons. None of us are immune to hiding sadness. Some are better at sharing their burdens, while others smile to avoid standing out. All I know is minuscule in comparison to the weight of existence and data surrounding me. My heart tells me not to give into false hope or thinking that tomorrow will somehow make up for yesterday. What I can say is that all of the above is more than I could ever deserve. Why? Whoever decided to include me in this design and story hasn’t given up on me. I tried to make them quit.
