Bride, sobbing to R/n: This was supposed to be my fresh start; My new beginning! Why is the universe punishing me??? (Yell up to sky) WHY 'SUG, WHHHHY!??

[She hugs R/n who shoots a look a her friends, she explained how this "friend" (R/n uses the word very loosely) had single-handedly burned every bridge and olive tree in her vicinity by stealing the boyfriends of her friends and family... ]

R/n, awkwardly looks around: Dante, Do something!

[Dante nods, takes a shot from the bar and walks up on stage.]

Vergil: What's he supposed to do?

{R/n shushes him as Dante does a magic trick, he shows the crowd a grey handkerchief. He stuffs it into his right hand blows on it then opens his hands to reveal the handkerchief is gone.

No one really reacts until Dante brings up his left fist up and he waves his right hand over his closed fist and opens it to reveal a pigeon that flies away, everyone is in awe clapping waiting for more; only for Dante look down sheepishly.]

Dante, rubbing the back of his head: Uh...That's pretty much all I got...*he shrugs and goes to sit back down.*

[Later the groom is found he set his alarm clock wrong and woke up late, the wedding seemingly goes off without a hitch, until Lady comes back from the washroom and said that they should leave.]

Dante: Why?

Lady: "cos me and Kyrie just saw the bride in one of the washroom stalls getting it on with someone who wasn't the groom.

R/n: Oh...damn, *smirks* I won the bet!

Trish: What bet?

R/n: The "how long will Bride last before she cheats" bet, everyone else was saying three days and week tops! I said she wouldn't last the evening.

{A bunch of people come out the reception hall to hand R/n some money, a few minutes later they hear the groom yelling "WTF" from the women's washroom followed one of the guests yelling "Dad?!" in disgust.]

R/n: Oh, a relative of one of her guests? Hm, my guess was with the bartender.

[She split the money and gives half to Avi causing to everyone look at the 12 year old in shock.]

Avi: What? That crusty old man was lookin' at the bride the same way my school's principal looks at my art teacher and the nurse and the lunch lady and...

Dante, disturbed: Okay, hun, we get it.

Self Aware Dmc! - Royalguard!!

…I couldn’t help myself, I’m making a mini one shot. I apologize in advance for the shitty pov and constant change of it during this other incredibly self indulgent drabble but I hope y’all still enjoy nonetheless.

Also the Nero bias is real…sue me…

(And if you had a similar experience fighting Dante, then welcome to the club…that fight was lowkey terrifying…or maybe I’m just bad at the game…who knows)

Nero really liked exploring with you. He liked being with you in general, but what he enjoyed the most -aside from your constant swooning over him despite how embarrassing it was- was receiving your praise and encouragement during any fights. He was happy you enjoyed fighting with him so much. Of course, your combos could use a bit of work but considering you stayed with automatic -and how happy you were at how well you were doing with it- he couldn’t really bring himself to mind.

As you both made your way through the Order of the Sword’s headquarters and made it to the room of ‘hIs hOLYnEsS’ -you’re distaste for the old geezer was obvious but he shared the sentiment- you were stopped by a cutscene. Feeling your surprise at Dante’s appearance, said Devil hunter leaning against a pillar as he briefly glanced at your direction before addressing him.

“What took you so long, sweetheart?” He smirked, tweaking the dialogue so the endearing term could be added for you. It pissed Nero off how casually he did so, and yet he couldn’t. Not as easily anyway. Whatever, he needed to stay in script, and he knew that you were just as desperate to save Kyrie as he was.

“You…what are you doing here?” The former holy knight sneered before clicking his tongue and trying to walk past the cocky devil hunter. “Forget it, I don’t have time for this”

However he was stopped by Dante when he placed a hand on his shoulder. “And neither do I”

“Huh? Wait, what the hell?…what the hell is this?” Nero heard you say, catching a glance at you as he saw you blink back before he tried to attack the red clanned man twice. Glaring at him as his fist was caught. “So I‘ll cut to the chase…”

“oH SHIT-!” They both heard you yelp as Nero got thrown back towards the wall, listening to the wince you let out at the impact. “…you…you good Nero?? Oh my fucking god, Dante, what the fuck-“

‘Oh I’m peachy, angel…I really wanna beat this guy to the ground though’ Nero thought as he recovered and confronted Dante about the Yamato.

“Kid? Well…if that’s how you see me, then I think you’ll blush a pretty pink when I kick your ass!” He tried to attack, watching as the wall crumbled from the katana’s swing before spotting Dante as he sat on top of the bed frame.

“Who is this diva?? Oh my fucking god, what the hell is going on?” They heard you let out a laugh at that, Dante in turn, being extra dramatic just to make you laugh more. They loved to hear your voice. But your laughter was even sweeter.

“Ah, helpful hint…take a hint from your elders.” ‘Sorry sweetheart…but you might hate me for this’ Dante thought as he jumped down to face Nero, ending the cutscene and getting ready to attack.

“HUH?! I HAVE TO FIGHT DANTE- OH SHIT, FUCK! MOVE MOVE MOVE!” That was the first thing Nero heard you say before he finally registered your influence and control over him and was suddenly forced to dodge Dante’s attack. An undignified squawk involuntarily leaving his lips as he did before glaring at Dante for laughing at him.

The next three to five minutes of the fight were eventful, hearing you curse, panic, choke on your breath and wheeze as you did your best to guide him to dodge, weave, and combo his way to victory. By the time the two of you only had a quarter left in their health bar, you were getting more panicky than normal. They could only guess you were determined to finish this in your first try…you were cutting it a bit too close though.

So Dante figured he’d break your pretty little heart gently by finishing the fight with a classic. ‘Sorry, sweetheart’ “Royal guard!!”

“NO YOU DON’T-!!” You yelped almost immediately, using Nero to grab him with Buster and quickly bashing Dante to the ground repeatedly and ultimately winning the fight. Hearing you breath shakily before laughing in disbelief.

“I…I did it..?? Holy shit, I did it, I beat Dante first try, oh my god-“ You breathed out before letting yourself catch your breath.

…y’know? They don’t think they’ve ever heard you react so quickly like that until now…and so strongly too. They felt your dread in their bones the moment Dante changed style just now…or tried to. Before he got his ass handed to him…but he couldn’t be too mad. That was hilarious.

What wasn’t hilarious, however, was the way Nero was grinning down at him after beating him. He knew it was part of the script but damn it, that brat had no business looking that smug. But what really shocked him, was the way that he altered the script for the first time so that he could speak freely while you heard the original lines.

As he passed him by after keeping Yamato, he muttered “I win, old man…’guess angel has a favorite, don’t they?”

…now normally, Dante was a chill and easy going guy. But in that moment, as Nero walked away, he couldn’t help be glad that he’d get captured by the Savior in the upcoming mission.

Ja'Bari is a Leopard beastman and a first year in Savannaclaw's dormitory. He's much more reserved and quiet than the others in his dorm, and is notorious for his intimidating demeanor, despite his slimmer stature. That being said, he's actually really chill as long as you don't annoy him, and is very loyal and protective should you become his friend.

Synopsis

It had all started with a ad for a job and being in dire need of money. Being freshly kicked out by a pair of shitty parents wasn’t a good situation for an 18 year old, especially when you need to pay for a roof over your head and food on your paper plates. That’s where the ad for a store that would eventually be called “devil may cry” comes in. Changing your life from the moment you stepped through its doors to find a red leather clad demon hunter your age with his feet kicked up on his desk.

Whether that change was for the best was up to debate, but you sure as hell gained a bunch of demon hunters who’d move hell or high water for you…literally. Though apparently that applied to literally everything else besides doing the other half of the job which was somehow trying to fill out tax reforms.

This was your life now, and you’d unfortunately have it no other way.

i've got two requests sitting in my inbox but i'm too lazy to work on em rn (sorry 🥀), i wanna get something out for today (it's like 10:30pm) and this one's been sitting in my notes app so here you go lolz

g/n!reader, tw for dark thoughts (obviously). feel free to skip this one, take care of yourself 💙 this is a long one bc i think about it a LOT so buckle up!

most of it comes from bullied, neglected and rumoured about as a kid and as a teenager, but it also stems from survivor's guilt.

in deadly fortune, he talks about how kyrie and credo's parents died in a demon attack and says that it would've made more sense if it had been him and not saints like them. he was only 17 or 18 in deadly fortune.

nero really, REALLY hates talking about his feelings. he'll say he's fine when you ask him if he's okay. PLEASE call his bluff.

he struggles to be vulnerable, even with his partner because he's used to being the supportive one. it's honestly what he prefers.

he prefers to deal with his emotions on his own, mostly inwardly (despite his violent outbursts with demons and tiny crashouts that would suggest otherwise)

he might handle his anger outwardly, but not his sadness. never his sadness.

to be honest, all you can really do is give him extra physical affection and listen if he starts talking because sometimes he will. it's just rare and takes a while for him to start opening up

most of his tells are extremely quiet. not getting out of bed as early as he usually does, being extra quiet, spacing out more, stuff like that.

he still does stuff to make you happy, he's still cuddly (sometimes he even gets clingier), that doesn't change, but when he smiles back it won't quite reach his eyes. his laughs are more subdued and quiet

he doesn't like talking about his feelings, but the best way to support him is to just hold him and make sure he knows he can talk to you. he just needs you to make him feel safe, comforted and cared for

he also likes when you tell him that you appreciate him, love him, want him around and would be upset if he disappeared, even if he doesn't plan on actually disappearing. he just needs to hear that he's wanted.

when he does open up, he pauses a lot, just trying to gather his words

he gets teary, but tries not to cry. sometimes he fails, and he just leans into your hands when you wipe his tears

he'll talk about how he feels like it should've been him, or about something he experienced or had to do that haunted him, but he'll never ever tell you about how he sometimes just wants to disappear

he's happy you love him, but sometimes he wishes you didn't. he feels like he'll inevitably disappoint you or hurt you somehow, and it scares him.

to be honest, he is probably passively suicidal at times. he'd never want to leave you, but if he died fighting a demon, oh well y'know? that's his mindset some days. this translates into recklessness during fights

it's usually nico that berates him for it, she does worry a lot, but if you're also a devil hunter and you're along to see it, she'll stay quiet and let you do the fearful berating no matter how stressed she is about it

if nero gets reckless, nico always tells you just in case you didn't notice other quiet signs (if they were even there to notice)

if you notice signs, sometimes you tell nico so she'll go a little easier on him. as much as bantering and arguing is their love language, it isn't always good for him. if she makes any jokes about him "letting demons knock him around so much", he sometimes genuinely wonders if he's weak or just not good enough.

sometimes he gets genuinely angry during what's supposed to be playful banter and shuts down and it's just best to avoid that.

his coping mechanisms tend to consist of video games, sleeping more whenever he can, cuddling you and distracting himself with red queen and blue rose, even if he'd already done the routine maintenance. whatever got his mind off his sadness was good enough for him, he didn't really care what exactly it was.

you're honestly the only thing keeping him sane

he'd rather die than live without you. if you die, he'll be dead inside until he actually dies because of recklessness

so! maria as dante and shadow as vergil, easy enough. gerald is basically eva and black doom is sparda. the backstory of maria and shadow is basically the same as in sa2/shth but maria is able to overcome her illness due to the blood of the black arms (like she gets it injected or smth) but it has the side effect of making her effectively immortal. yada yada black doom disappears gerald fucking dies and the siblings are separated everything’s basically the same as in actual dmc. no this au doesn’t have an actual name

oh, and in case ur wondering. elise is lady (and the duke of soleanna is arkham naturally), eggman is trish (choosing between eggman and eggman nega i decided regular eggman), silver is nero, blaze is kyrie, amy is nico. that’s basically all i have assigned atp. here’s a free extra doodle if u read all this

THE DANTE FIGHT! HELLS YEAH! This is SO FUCKING FUN especially on higher difficulties. DMC3SE included Vergil as a playable character, but there was unfortunately no Dante fight you just fought a palette swap of Vergil. So a proper boss fight against Dante was a DREAM COME TRUE in this game, including the way he fucking SWITCHES STYLES DURING THE BOSS FIGHT and uses all the same moves from DMC3! This fight is sick as hell, and I don't care how much you hate Nero as a character his inclusion was worth it for this alone.

Nero has been very pissy in all the cutscenes leading up to this, understandably so because Kyrie is in the fridge. So I really like how this fight is basically Dante's way of calming Nero down so he can get his head in the game And Also testing him to make sure he has what it takes. I honestly really love this kind of thing, where the protagonist from the previous games passes the torch in a moment like this where he gives his approval to let the new protagonist handle the conflict. Because you really get the sense that everything going on with the Savior is sort of beneath Dante he could mop this whole situation up himself without breaking a sweat. But if Nero can prove he can handle it, he's happy to be sidelined and let the new kid on the block step up to the plate. Obviously Dante let Nero win. But he did enough to prove himself and get Dante's blessing.

Not only that but in this scene, especially when Nero activates his Devil Trigger and wields the Yamato, Dante is 99.9% certain that Nero is Vergil's son at this point. After the fight he even says he wants the Yamato to stay in the family, and then ONE SENTENCE LATER says he'll let Nero hold onto it. See, the Yamato will not work for anybody but a member of Sparda's family - as Agnus says he was never able to put it repair it let alone use its power. Yamato works for Nero because Nero is not only of the blood of Sparda, but he gets extra points for being Vergil's son. The game is all but shouting in your face that Nero is Vergil's son, all the pieces are there and we can put the puzzle together ourself to see the full picture.

I also love the moment where Dante calls Nero a kid and Nero gets all pissy about it lol. It's funny how much Dante has matured since DMC3 huh? In that game he was an immature punk himself. Now he's cool ol' uncle Dante trying to wrangle in this young buck Nero who's rude and crass and foul mouthed. You know something? The philosophy behind Dante as a character was that he was designed to be a hero who was the epitome of cool, but doesn't smoke. He doesn't smoke, drink, he doesn't even cuss! He's a PG rated cool dude, with total confidence and style, he's like a human Sonic the Hedgehog! But Nero? Nero is a punk, he's edgy, he's a young rebel of a hero who uses swear words! It's a real generational dispute here lol. Dante is classic coca cola and Nero is PEPSI MAX.

I kinda love the bit at the end where Gloria shows up. Up until this point you might have thought Gloria was exactly what she appeared to be, a mysterious and dangerous sexy member of the Order of the Sword, and she got to show off during a big action scene devoted to her. It seemed like they were setting up for a boss fight! Dante vs Gloria? But then naw, the game pulls a joke on us and has Dante immediately recognize that it's Trish in disguise, and she drops the act and reveals herself to us. SUBVERSION OF EXPECTATIONS =P

I like Dante and Trish's dynamic. Wish we'd gotten to see more of it. Due to the way the story of these games ended up going, we only get occasional glimpses of their chemistry as demon hunting partners. DMC1 ended with them being hero and sidekick, but we so rarely actually get to see them working together like this. Plus I just really like Trish as a character. Oh well, least there's always that one episode of the animated series. Oh and the PS2 version of Viewtiful Joe.

Wukong came from a very big stone, who then cracked open, to reveal a smaller stone. The latter was then "brushed by the wind" and it formed to be a living monkey. So most likely the second stone wasn't monkey-shaped, but it's moslty an aesthetic decision (MK was a literal stone monkey when Nuwa created him)

His room on FFM It's just the same, just slightly bigger. He still lives over Pigsy restaurant. Technically PIF already made his future room constructed but MK is not ready or doesn't have any plans to move yet.

Yes, but Wukong has mid knowledge on medicine and Mamacaque is almost an expert, so while he would worry, he would mostly hover them, he would know how to cure them, unless it's a rare, unknown demonic illness.

How do you think some of the self aware characters would react knowing the player had a very obvious favourite?

Like their favourite is Nero and they absolutely spoil him in red orbs compared to other characters. Or their favourite is a non-playable character like Nico and they purposefully stay for 10 minutes on the shop screen just to see her lol

Self Aware Dmc!! - Playing Favorites!!

Dante Sparda- if he was your favorite, he’d be excited. But also extremely cocky about it. Of course he’s your favorite!! He’s been the main character for the first three games and the one you use the most, no duh you choose him! He’d waste no time in bragging to anyone he could force to listen. And the others could try to shut him up but he knew they were jealous! Especially his brother and his nephew. I mean sure, he ended up fighting with them more because he kept teasing them over your bias towards him but it’s not his fault you had good taste! But if he wasn’t, he’d get pouty and whiny about it. He’d make his combos a little easier for you if you weren’t good at getting them yet and even go as far as to mess with the code just to get in your favorite’s way! Not too much though, just a bit. He wouldn’t want to ruin his little sweetheart’s gameplay, after all

Vergil Sparda- he’d be surprised, to say the least. He never focused on such childish preferences like picking favorites but if his dearest angel saw him as such, he’d have no objection. Unlike his little brother, he wouldn’t outright brag like he knows he would but he’d definitely show it in more subtle ways…like actually reminding him through whispers and then later getting into a fight with him. Something that Nero and others have had to stop several times. Otherwise if it’s towards the others, he doesn’t bother to actually show off…not verbally at least. If anyone payed attention, they’d notice his demeanor seemed more confident. Acting more haughty than usual. If he wasn’t the favorite however, he’d like to think he’s indifferent towards it. Thinking he has better things to do than be jealous of not being your favorite…but then he realizes he’s just as attention hungry as everyone else and tries to make you pick him by performing much more whenever you choose to play as him.

Nero Sparda and Kyrie- the couple would be rather flustered and surprised that you’d pick both as your favorite and not separated. Didn’t you obsess over Nero the most?? Well, not like they minded this, they don’t think they had the heart to be jealous over the other and something tells them you’d feel bad if you choose to favor only one of them too! Their little angel was so sweet. Ahem- anyway. They’re glad to know you like them that much, often gushing about it -mostly Kyrie- between the two of them. Nero, though, would try and brag about it to the rest of the cast, with Kyrie trying to stop it as to not cause any trouble. If they weren’t your favorites though, they’d support one another in coming up with ideas to change that! Nero would do his best to outperform the others in combat (like father like son, after all), Kyrie would do her utmost to do her best performance while singing (she remembers you saying you liked her voice after all). However sometimes, they’d sneak in some extra cutscenes to give you more time with them. Smiling at the other when you’d give them attention and gush over them. It made their efforts worth it

Trish- she’s be amused if she was you’re favorite. By all means, she doesn’t hate it, but she finds it funny how -how was it, ah right- “down bad” you were for her. Even though you knew she was just a demon based on Eva’s appearance, you didn’t treat her as such and never compared her to the human woman. You fell for her and her only…she loved it. She saw no need to brag about your bias towards her, but if any of the cast mentioned it she saw no issue in reminding them of your favoritism. Like Vergil, she’d show it in more subtle ways like acting more confident than usual. If she wasn’t though, she’d try to include herself in the game more often. Giving her little spark more content of her since they always seemed to gush over her the little times she was on screen.

“How sweet…do you really like me that much, little spark? I’m honored~ I really do appreciate it…thank you, my dear spark. For seeing me as me..”

“Hm…it seems like I need to work harder to have your eyes on me for a little longer, little spark. No matter…I’ll make sure you’re shocked by my skills”

Lady- she’d be startled by it, if she was your favorite. Like Trish, she doesn’t have much content, mostly interacting with her little doll through brief cutscenes or if you played as her in Dmc4 during her time in Fortuna. But seeing you gush over her and spoil her in red orbs is…nice. She supposed it wasn’t bad. She didn’t see the point in bragging about it, but she’d seem more cocky than usual. The way she carried herself seemed more elevated, as if your bias towards affected her entire demeanor (though the same could be said about everyone else). If she wasn’t your favorite, however, she’d be agitated. She wants her little doll’s attention, damn it!! And she’s not above playing dirty to get it. Whether that means she has to manipulate the code to mess with others or amp up her ammo and make it easier to play with her, she’ll do it. Anything to get her doll’s gaze on her and her only

Nicoletta Goldstein- she’s off the fucking walls. Her little Tinker Bell picked her as their favorite?! Oh that’s rich! She’s gonna be bragging it in Nero’s face any time she can. A lil’ ol’ mechanic like her? Who ain’t even playable and she’s the bias? She’s having the time of her life. She’s flattered that she was picked, appreciating the ways you’d stick around the Home Screen to see her for as long as you could before staring the next mission or a new run of the game. If she wasn’t a favorite though, she’d shrug it off. She’s not that typa’ girl who would get stuck on that kinda thing (unlike the rest of cast). She’d just go on about her work like usual and if she happened to impress you, then that’s good enough for her!…wouldn’t stop her from messing with Nero’s equipment though. Just a little bit, that’s all

The ff7 novels are a series of books mostly written by Kazushige Nojima, depicting unique stories using the characters and world from ff7. These novels are separate from the games but stick closely to canon. Leslie Kyle and Kyrie Canaan actually originated from my favorite book so far, The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story.

Most of these novels were published in Japanese first and later translated into English. Luckily, they can easily be found online for purchase or read through fan translations for free.

Youtube Audiobooks

The Lifestream on Youtube has uploaded a decent amount of audiobooks of the fan translations to their channel. I’d recommend checking them out if you’d enjoy that!
