one thing isla had committed to, as much as she possibly could in her line of work, ever since uncovering how she was pregnant, was keeping her job on the low and cutting on the, usual, hectic schedule she upheld. so far, so good. kendrick and her had managed to squeeze in some time away, their baby was developing just fine and the worst symptoms isla had faced — the nausea and fatigue, in her opinion — in the beginning were starting to waver away. work had been kept at bay, her team only calling when it was something that couldn’t be handled by anyone other than her ; up until now. public appearances probably didn’t rub across as work for most people but a long time ago, isla had labelled it all ( from awards shows to charity events and others of the likes ) under shit to get done because of my job. yet, it didn’t mean this wasn’t the easy part — it was and isla would still make sure to have a good time. ‘ still remember the last time we attended to something together. a movie premiere, was it? ’ she quips, smirk unfolding on her features once blue meets brown, notes of teasing masked by her nonchalant intonation as they’re driven to the event’s set location. ‘ i recall it ending in a rather interesting way too. '

kendrick has to admit that this has to be one of the easiest parts of his job, the whole going to premiere things. even if it was for one of his own projects, which it wasn’t this time, it was nothing but easy, even if it involved a shit ton of interviews then. this definitely was something he’d never complain about. what made it even more fun was if he had good company such as isla. he looks over at her, smile playing on his lips as he eyes her up and down. ‘ i got quite lucky tonight, being able to go to this premiere with you? i mean, especially because of how good you look tonight. a lot of dudes would fight me to go with you instead. ’ he points out, chuckling softly as his gaze remains on her while their driver informed them how they were almost there. ‘ no, honestly though. you do look really good, as per. ’ he tells her, nothing but sincerity in the tone of his voice. ‘ i’m glad you decided to come with me, you know? i actually really am. i know this night will be awful for you for having to put up with me but i’m still glad. ’ he says, biting down on his lower lip to hide a grin from appearing.

if the past two weeks proved anything to him once more, it’s that he absolutely hates being without isla. it just doesn’t feel right without her by his side. he’s not in the best mood, he doesn’t sleep right without her and just in general, he doesn’t like not having her there. now once again having her in his arms, is definitely the nicest thing to kendrick. even though he knows he eventually has to, he sure as hell doesn’t ever want to let go of her again. ‘ you think people would get mad if i don’t let you leave me and keep you with me forever? ’ he asks, burying his face into the crook of her neck while wrapping his arm around her waist to pull her even closer to him. as he’s lying there, all quiet, he gets lost in his thoughts for a moment. his hand moves to rest on her belly, thumb gently gliding across it. that’s when he moves again so he’s able to properly look at her again. ‘ have you given the whole baby thing some more thought lately the past few days? ’ while he really wasn’t sure about her, he sure as hell has given it a lot more thought.
