Ep 312: The Pascagoula Abduction with Philip Mantle Part 2
"I'm just wondering if I'm really me. A lot of times I'd think that, am I really the girl they took? Or I might be somebody else. I might be a clone or something."  -- Maria Blair, who also had an experience at Pascagoula, from an interview with Chelsea Norton Prince, requested by Philip Mantle
Description:
We are again joined by investigator Philip Mantle to dive back into the Pascagoula Abduction with Part 2 of our series, peeling back layers of a story that stretches far beyond one terrifying night in 1973. While skeptics cite an unaware bridgetender, fresh eyewitness accounts – from shipyard workers to families at home – suggest something far stranger was unfolding. In this episode, we uncover a decades-hidden encounter shared by Jerry and Maria Blair, whose experiences may rival the original tale, and explore newly revealed evidence, buried memories, and the unsettling question: what did these beings really want?

Bad Movie Decisions
In the Earth (2021) dir. Ben Wheatley.
Spoilers incoming.
7:06 I've Ben Wheatley'd before, so I'm sure the mythical Parnag Fegg is going to be both real and extremely unpleasant, but also somewhat trippy and elusive.
8.46 I find the fact that Wheatley casts actors primarily known for comedy (Shearsmith, Fry etc) extra unsettling for some reason.
14:16 Joel Fry giving off all the red flags here. Put in a request to be transferred to work with an ex who had cut off all contact? It's a no from me.
14:41 That shrieking is not birds, I don't care what the woodland expert lady says.
21:21 Wherever I thought this was going, it wasn't to a woodland kidnapping.
32:23 Yes, let's drink Reece Shearsmith's weird jizzy-looking homebrew which he describes as being "like elderflower". A great decision that I'm sure will have no devastating consequences.
33:07 Why does he have all these spare shoes lying around? Why are you not asking yourselves this?!
34:41 These two didn't go drinking in dive bars where weird old guys are always trying to spike your drink and it shows.
35:55 "How was your postdoc?"
"Old man in the woods drugged me and made me wear a paper dress."
40:58 This is starting to feel like a very British version of The Endless, which I'm completely on board with.
48:21 Their escape plan sounds absolutely terrible, which I suppose is fitting for two highly educated people who couldn't even manage a hike without getting abducted by a cultist.
49:29 Always straight to amputation with these prepper sorts.
54:13 Oh dear. I think Joel's found Dr Wendel...
54:42 The escape attempt is going as well as anticipated.
57:03 Shearsmith is remarkably spry for someone with a chunk of his skull sticking out.
59:00 Someone should keep Wheatley away from the psilocybin.
1:00:52 Fry is remarkably spry for someone with fewer toes than they're used to.
1:01:29 Yes, by all means, split up when searching the haunted woods where a known psychopath with an axe and a bow is definitely lying in wait.
1:03:24 Dead body wasn't Wendel, just a random camper we don't need to care about.
1:09:31 When someone tells you "you have very special flesh", you don't say "thanks" you get the hell out of there you absolute melon!
1:23:19 It's giving The Mist, Annihilation, Blair Witch...
1:35:37 Genuinely feels like Wheatley watched The Endless while tripping balls and retained 75% of it.
1:43:38 Good stuff. That was far more Kill List Wheatley than Field in England Wheatley, which is how I like my Wheatley.

wendell blaire and i have gone through the Far Reaches (insanity III) of the Dark Sea and miraculously, i have suffered no insanity effects the entire journey, not even dark rain poisoning. he also insisted on steering my ship because im "bad at avoiding waves" so im just chillin
Tumblr media
at the time of posting this we are back in the insanity I area, hopefully reaching the bronze sea soon. my crew is tired and im sure wendell is especially exhausted from the effects of insanity and being thrown back into the dark sea after being abandoned there by his father when he was young

Former colleagues and stars have paid tribute to Friends actor Matthew Perry, who died on Saturday night at his home in Los Angeles.
The 54-year-old actor, beloved for his performance in the hit sitcom as the sarcastic Chandler Bing, was found dead in an apparent drowning, his representative told NBC News. A Los Angeles fire department spokesperson confirmed first responders were called to Perry’s home in Pacific Palisades about a “water emergency”.
Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s girlfriend Janice in Friends, said the joy Perry brought to “so many” in his “too short lifetime will live on”.
“I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared,” she wrote on Instagram.
Morgan Fairchild, who played Chandler’s mother Nora Bing, said: “I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my ‘son’ … The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock.”
Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, who knew Perry as a boy when Perry’s mother worked as an aide to his father, Canadian prime minister Pierre Trudeau, described his death was “shocking and saddening.”
“I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them. Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed,” he said.
The actor Wendell Pierce, who starred alongside Perry in the remake of The Odd Couple, wrote on X: “Damn. For two years Matthew Perry was my boss, my colleague, and a giving, kind, funny man. I pray and hope he is at peace.”
The actor Selma Blair wrote on Instagram that Perry was “my oldest boy friend”.
“All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I did especially. Every day,” Blair wrote. “I loved him unconditionally. And he me. And I’m broken. Broken hearted. Sweet dreams Matty. Sweet dreams.”
Mira Sorvino, who starred with Perry in the 1994 movie Parallel Lives, wrote on X: “Oh no!!! Matthew Perry!! You sweet, troubled soul!! May you find peace and happiness in Heaven, making everyone laugh with your singular wit!!!”
Actor Paget Brewster, who played Chandler’s girlfriend Kathy in season four of Friends, wrote on X: “He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades after. Please read his book. It was his legacy to help. He won’t rest in peace though. He’s already too busy making everyone laugh up there.”
Meredith Salenger, who starred in A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon with Perry when he was 16, shared four photos of them together. “Matthew and I have known each other since [we] were 16 years old. Oh man. No words. Rest in peace sweet @MatthewPerry,” she said.
“What a tragic piece of news to read,” actor George Takei wrote. “My heart goes out to his loved ones and long time cast mates.”
Canadian-American comedian Tom Green wrote: “Shocked and saddened to just hear about the passing of Matthew Perry in a tragic drowning. He is one of the many talented and incredible success stories from my hometown of Ottawa Canada. Rest in peace Matthew.”
Broadcaster Piers Morgan called Perry “a great actor, but by his own admission, a very tormented guy. His recent autobiography about his addiction-ravaged life was one of the most powerful, honest and revealing I’ve ever read. Such sad news.”
Warner Bros Television Group, which produced Friends for its entire run from 1994 to 2004, said in a statement: We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry. Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros Television Group family. The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans.”
NBC, the network that aired Friends, said: “He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations.”
The official Friends account on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared: “We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans.”

She chuckles and gives a light nod. "Just like a Wendell…hmm…I remember about the turn of the sixteen-hundreds, one of your ancestors nearly fought a whole bar. The odds were stacked against her, but she had such a fiery spirit. She just wouldn't stand for disrespect. I had to carry her right out of the place." She recalls fondly with a slight chuckle. A fond smile coats her lips, she can see herself connecting well with Thera, she already has a good feeling about that.
"I'll have to stop by one night, I work at the Apothecary at night usually, but only part-time. So on one of my days off, certainly. It'd be nice to see Blair at work, I try not to come around and distract her. But for you? I'll make an exception." She teases lightly, thumb running along one of her many rings. "And I suppose I am pretty fond of her." She shrugs, a look in her eyes betraying just how much the Phial witch actually means to her, a fact she's yet to admit even to herself.
"We are coven now. I think I might have a few journals from women of your family from over the centuries, if you ever wanted to read them. I'm not sure how many languages your grandmother taught you, but I can translate anything you need." at the mention of Kore she shakes her head. "I've met the little witch, Ashlyn I believe her name was. And that handsome, albeit nervous, fellow Declan."
Thera’s beam dulled slightly at the reference to her half hearted escape attempt. She looked back towards the window, “No, I have more of a spine than that. I promised my friends I would stay, try to have fun, and I am…now.”
She smiled back at Daniella. “Yes the Crow and Chalice,” it was wild to Thera how much the store had become a part of her in the relatively short while since she had moved to Port Leiry, “the store is much the same but I’ve put my own touch on it.” It had changed slightly from when her aunt held it. Thera had incorporated her Grandmother’s teachings and the craft she had learned on the road. Moira had shunned her Grandmother’s practices and while the thread Thera had chosen to tread would cause her Grandmother to faint, she was more able to admit that the darker side of the Wendell magic had its uses. Uses she was less likely to shun then she was a month ago.
“I understand the drifting, to a degree,” she acknowledged to the vampire, “I move around so much that I will admit settling down and noticing everything in a place is new to me.”
She chuckled, “You’re coven now, have you met Kore, I’ve been writing to them for years and yet it took me at least 5 months after moving here to actually stop by her store.” It was funny as it was true, “Things have a way of getting away from us.”

i realized i never actually introduced my Main main arcane odyssey character. so heres Sasha Lionheardt (formerly known as Sasha Calding), theyre an ash warlock (formerly an ash/magma mage).
Tumblr media
they are the leader (Celestial Cartographer) of the clan Stella Nautae, which is a group of adventurers dedicated to finding treasure, secrets, and aiding fellow sailors in ensuring safe travels. the clan tagline is Ut thesaurizare ab astris.
Tumblr media
and this is sasha next to their second in command, Wendell Blaire, a tourmaline/glass paladin and Empyrean Navigator of Stella Nautae
Tumblr media
ive had sasha since WoM, love them very much <3 even if they once were a criminal back when ash magic was first released on wom and i went crazy killing npcs. this character turned into a test for myself to try Not Committing Crimes and so far its been going well, but since theyre a severe glass cannon (125 power with 0 defense dont judge me i have no jewelcrafting stats on them) bounty hunting is hard so my current fame is only 75k.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is me ship, the Curse of the Rose Dragon <3
also bonus, the fish tank, the sleeper shark is Chum, the jellyfish is Bethany, and the basking sharks are currently unnamed but rest assured i will give them twin names EVENTUALLY
